Then he had his hard-fought Cueto Cup match against Prince Puma, followed by his 1-on-1 match against Rey Mysterio, and reminded the Believers of just how good he ''really'' is.
* GroinAttack: Like his partners, has taken to kicking opponents in the junk while the referee's distracted. While the WWU largely ditched this after a while, he revived it to good effect in late Season 4.
* HeManWomanHater: Displayed an uncomfortable amount of misogyny towards Sexy Star during a match, to the point where Vampiro [[EvenEvilHasStandards wanted to hit him with a chair for it]].
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Matt Striker invoked this by name for him after he set up a table during Mundo's rematch with Mack, only to eat a Stunner and break it himself by falling off the apron and through it.
* ManlyTears: Sheds these after Taya accepts Mundo's marriage proposal in "A Match Made in Heaven".
* YesMan: He's taken to tagging along behind Johnny Mundo, sycophantically repeating everything amusing he says and laughing at it as if it's top-class stand-up comedy.

* AbortedArc: His status as an undercover cop and mole has gone completely unmentioned in Season 4.
* BallsOfSteel: Part of his gimmick involves [[NoSell noselling]] [[GroinAttack groin attacks]]. Vampiro once quipped that he has a "bionic [[Series/TheSixMillionDollarMan Six Million Dollar Man]] jockstrap".
* CarpetOfVirility: Oh yeah. It's a huge part of his sleazy image.
* CasanovaWannabe: Styles himself as a ladies man as part of his gimmick, but how much it's him just playing his cover and how much is actually his personality is up for debate.
* CoolShades: Sports a badass pair of police glasses.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: His plan for Aztec Warfare II was to handcuff himself to the guardrail outside the ring, preventing him from being pinned. Sounds good, except for the glaring flaw was that he couldn't do anything at all while cuffed to it and was wide open and was beaten down by others during the match. The handcuffs didn't deter Matanza either, he just ripped the rail free before dragging Ryan into the ring.
** He still hadn't thought it through the following Season, when he tried handcuffing himself to the stair rail during Aztec Warfare III. He lasted even less time, as Mil Muertes came out, broke the handcuffs, hauled him into the ring, and eliminated him.
* DirtyCop: Ryan may be loyal, but he's also crooked (probably another reason Officer Reyes hates him). When he's searching Cueto's office for evidence, he finds Cueto's stacks of cash in his desk draw and his reaction is ''literally'' "payday has come early".
** Taken even further in Season 3 where he's no longer loyal at all and immediately sells out the police and Castro/Reyes to Dario. He's clearly rotten to the core.
* IfItsYouItsOK: Though Ryan is most definitely a ladies' man, he was not adverse to XO Lishus bouncing his face off his behind and twerking for him, even seemingly liking it and asking for a kiss afterward. This seeming fondness for Lishus even led Ryan to intervene in his No Mas match with Jack Evans, potentially saving his life in the process. They later decided to team.
* LovableSexManiac: The reigning king of wrestling of this trope. Joey is ''sleeeeeazy'', but he's so hilarious in action that people can't help but love him.
* TheMole: Offered to be this for Dario Cueto.
* PornStache: It does double duty, since not only does he sport it as part of his sleazy ladies' man gimmick, he's also an undercover cop, which is another character archetype associated with this kind of 'stache.

Returned at Mundo's side in Season 4 to antagonize and attack Kobra Moon and Drago after Drago's loss to DA Jr. Was present at a meeting of the Worldwide Underground, where she learned that the Reptile Tribe had declared war on them and was introduced to Ricky's doll, Rosa. She and Mundo defeated Moon and Daga with the assistance of Black, but all three were attacked by Vibora and she and Black were tormented by the Reptiles. She accompanied Mundo for his match with Vibora and interfered heavily in the match, but was run off by Drago and Daga. She attacked again post-match, but was run off once more. Alongside Mundo and eventually Ricky, she attacked Daga after his match with Black, but was run off by Vibora after the WWU isolated him in the ring and he overpowered them. Later, she and Mundo infiltrated the Reptile Temple, where they were caught by Vibora. After defeating him in a rough battle, she decapitated him. Taya was shocked and angered when Mundo chose to use the wish that they and Aerostar had earned by defeating the Reptiles in an Atomicos match on Aerostar, confronting him afterward, then burst into tears when he clarified that his real wish could only be granted by her before asking her to marry him, to which she said yes. During their wedding shower, she first gave him a portrait of himself with the Lucha Underground championship, then revealed that she had gone to Antonio Cueto and requested a match on his behalf for the title. Her wedding to Mundo nearly went off without a hitch, but unfortunately for her, though she had no part in the WWU's verbal abuse of Ricky Mundo this time, the actions of her soon-to-be husband and the rest of the WWU against Ricky caused the complete destruction of the ceremony. Ricky, scorned by his supposed allies, released Matanza to crash the wedding. Bloodied from the Monster headbutting her, she fought back and was slammed into her wedding cake. With revenge on her mind, she returned to the Temple after a month and a half, seeking revenge against Matanza for crashing her wedding. She challenged him to a match, but Antonio Cueto intervened and tried to make her a sacrifice. Though she fought her hardest and took Matanza to the limit, she was about to be finished off by the Monster when her husband intervened and got her to safety. Later in the night, she was challenged by Ricky Mundo to a match for Ultima Lucha Cuatro. Upon seeing Matanza attack Mundo, she promptly attacked Matanza as well, but was destroyed by the Monster. Taya soundly defeated Ricky at Ultima Lucha Cuatro, and in a possibly foolish decision, chose to take Rosa with her.

Though she had lost her enforcer to Mundo and Taya invading her Temple, Moon was not fazed in the slightest. She soon revealed that, through unknown means, she had secured the body of Jeremiah Crane, reviving him with her venom and making him into Jeremiah Snake. Even with the assistance of her newest subject, the Reptile Tribe lost the Atomicos match against the Worldwide Underground. She made ready to lead her Tribe out of the Temple, but was stopped by Mundo, who reminded her of the stipulation for the match. He then gave the wish to Aerostar and demanded that she free Drago, which she begrudgingly did. As the Reptiles had not received their owed rematch for the Trios titles from when they were defeated back at Ultima Lucha Tres, she went to Antonio Cueto and requested it, a request that was granted. She and her Tribe would take advantage of infighting between Killshot and Son of Havoc to win the titles back. The Tribe's first defense, against Aerostar, Fenix, and Drago, went the same way, as they took advantage of Fenix turning on his partners to retain, and Moon triumphantly announced her team as the winners. Superior to Officer Reyes and Officer Meehan on the police force, who oversaw the investigation into Dario Cueto. Assembled a list of deceased and missing persons in connection to Cueto, and seemed hellbent on bringing him to justice. However, she was told by Councilman Delgado to back off, as someone even more powerful than the mayor of Los Angeles was protecting Cueto. Attempted to cut Mr. Cisco a deal regarding his various crimes and recruit him as a mole within the Temple, citing his closeness to Cueto and her belief that Cueto is the lynchpin for the end of days, a deal which Cisco seemed to have accepted. Despite the death of her mole, she was able to see Cueto arrested, although at the hands of a task force instead of her own.

She was later revealed to be in possession of half of an ancient Aztec amulet, the Piedra Immortal, and heavily implied to have grown up in Aztec times and to be over a thousand years old. Castro later returned to her with news that his cover had been blown, so she calmly assigned him the masked identity of Veneno, saying that she needed him in the Temple. Undeterred by Reyes' failures in his undercover role, she revealed to him that Cage had murdered Councilman Delgado in City Hall, and assigned him a new task: bring her the Gauntlet of the Gods. Their subsequent conversation on the subject implied that she knew a lot more about the Gauntlet than she was saying, and after he left the room, she pulled out her half of the Piedra Immortal.

Desperate and knowing that Reyes would more than likely fail, she contacted Catrina, meeting with her and striking a deal: her half of the Piedra Immortal (and the mortality that would ensue) in return for Mil Muertes' assistance in procuring the Gauntlet. During the meeting, it would be revealed that she had revived Catrina with one half of the Piedra Immortal (though Catrina would be stuck in a semi-life as a result) and that she was Catrina's mother.

The mysterious entity who Councilman Delgado answered to. The Temple was of great importance to him, because he's the one who helped Dario Cueto set it up. Helped get the charges against Dario dropped before Season 3 began, but threatened him with death should he "waste his time" again. As Delgado stated that "his ascension is complete" when giving the casket containing the Gauntlet of the Gods to Cueto, it was at the time heavily implied that he was the one who needed a new "host body", and he may have gotten one in Cage, who won the Best of Five Series to claim the Gauntlet. The Gauntlet, later revealed as a conduit for gods, quickly began to exert its influence on Cage, which would result in the death of Delgado, among other things. He later reappeared in physical form along with Agent Winter, proving that he was not the one in the Gauntlet.
