* BreakTheCutie: In his early appearances Dyrk is upbeat, idealistic, and eager to help people as part of the Legion. Losing his powers makes him not only ineligible for Legion membership but effectively a cripple and a second-class citizen on his homeworld, which does quite a number on his self-worth (especially with his older brother around to rub it in at every opportunity).

* WellIntentionedExtremist: Preboot, during a SilverAge story where she rigged an election for leader, secretly stole her teammates abilities, and then had them suspended for arbitrary reasons. It turned out she did all that in order to spare her teammates from fighting in an upcoming battle with an alien overlord, where a member would've surely been killed. Her plan failed when Lightning Lad discovered what she was planning, and sacrificed himself in battle.

* TemporaryBulkChange: In a Preboot SilverAge issue involving the Legionnaires trapped in a prison camp for superheroes, M-E Lad was hit by a ray that slowed down his Bismollian metabolism to that of a normal human, thereby making it impossible for him to eat anything anymore. He had previously eaten about a ton of dirt in order to form an escape tunnel, so when his metabolism slowed down he swelled to the size of a balloon.

* [[AscendedFanboy Ascended Fangirl]]: She was a member of the Legion of Substitute Heroes and idolized Cosmic Boy to the point of being a stalker. As the {{Superdickery}} of the SilverAge was quietly downplayed, she became Cosmic Boy's long-time girlfriend. She only became a Legion member recently after a long stint as a supporting character.

* ContinuitySnarl. He was originally one of the [[ThereIsAnother many Kryptonians]] of the SilverAge and was PutOnABus by having him stay in the Legion's future. This made him available to be brought back during the 1980's Legion series. Okay so far, until Superman's history was changed in 1986 to make Superman the sole surviving Kryptonian. This caused problems. He was variously {{retcon}}ned into a Titanian [[VoodooShark whose powers turned him into a Kryptonian]] (which was [[AllThereInTheManual mentioned only in supplementary material]]), a good Daxamite, and an evil Daxamite. Now that there are other Kryptonians again, two characters with that name have been introduced, one Kryptonian criminal, and one cultist in ''ComicBook/FiftyTwo''; neither one fits with the Legion version.

* BigBad: In the SilverAge at least, where he was not only a founding member of the Legion, but the leader of the initial TerribleTrio, and counterpoint to Cosmic Boy.

* CardCarryingVillain: In the original comics, there was no crime on Saturn due to certain minerals in the rings (hey, it was the SilverAge). Upon coming to Earth, and getting out of range of the rings, she just decided, "hey I think I'll turn evil for the Hell of it."

* {{Expy}}: Of the Composite Superman, a ridiculous SilverAge Superman/Batman villain who had all the powers of the Legion. He also bears a resemblance to the Preboot Chameleon Chief.

!!Ron-Karr -->'''Homeworld:''' Neptune -->'''Abilities:''' Able to flatten his body to two-dimensions. His application for Legion membership ws rejected, as his power is considered "too unusual." He joins the Legion of Super-Villains during the five part war between the two Legions in the 1980s Legion of Super-Heroes series. He was not that helpful. He eventually redeems himself when he joins the Legion of Substitute Heroes, whose 1985 special he was referred to in, in their fight against the Dominators' control of Earth. * PaperPeople: His only power is to turn his body two-dimensional.

The term comes from the cryptic labels of the PeopleJars the duplicates were found in. [[note]]Well, that was the reason in-story. It actually came from half of a fan's postal code.[[/note]]

In the FYL continuity, Cosmic Boy was {{De Power}}ed during a war between Braal and Imsk. He married Night Girl and had a son named Pol after his late brother. Shortly before his reality was destroyed by ''ZeroHour'', he regained his powers thanks to a pair of power gauntlets and took the name Polestar.

* StuffedIntoTheFridge: Her Five Years Later counterpart. There was a supporting character with the same skin tone as Dawnstar who called herself "Bounty", and she was an AntiHero bounty hunter with a vague backstory. It turned out that she was really Dawnstar, being possessed by a demon called Bounty that amputated her wings. Unlike Lightning Lad and Shrinking Violet, who both had their limbs grown back, Dawny's wings were never restored. And then ZeroHour happened, and that was the last fans saw of her until ''The Lightning Saga''.
