* TrailersAlwaysSpoil: It's not much of a spoiler listing him here in the Xehanort section, since the trailers for ''Dream Drop Distance'' spoiled his status as yet another Xehanort by simply showing [[SupernaturalGoldEyes what]] [[WhiteHairBlackHeart he]] [[BlackCloak looks]] [[LegacyCharacter like]] -- it's just a matter of figuring out in what way.

* ColdFlames: These appear around it while it is in its undead form.

Xemnas kept his more hands-on combat style [[spoiler:and is hinted to retain some of Terra's devotion to Ven and Aqua]], while "Ansem" kept the Guardian and his magical prowess, [[spoiler:as well as Master Xehanort's outfit]]. Additionally, Ansem believes in the power of darkness while Xemnas believes in ThePowerofHate, [[spoiler:also reflecting Master Xehanort and Terra.]]

* ClimaxBoss: In ''3D''. The actual FinalBoss is almost an afterthought after the intensity of his fight and the plot revelations accompanying it.

* {{Flanderization}}: In the original game, Ansem was simply ''very'' misguided rather than evil. His experiments, while horrifyingly amoral, were done in the name of genuine scientific curiosity, and lead him to believe that all beings are born from darkness and that darkness is thus the source of all power and knowledge. He encouraged Riku and Sora to accept this and open their hearts to darkness to be stronger, and was disappointed when Sora refused to accept his beliefs as fact. Subsequent appearances however have played up the CardCarryingVillain aspects more, and he's now the Xehanort most likely to embrace his evil nature compared to Master Xehanort's WellIntentionedExtremist and Xemnas's TragicVillain. This is due in part to the {{Retcon}} that "Ansem" was actually Ansem's apprentice -- when Leon and Aerith say that Ansem was once the wise and kindly ruler of Hollow Bastion it makes it sound like this "Ansem" [[JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope Jumped Off the Slippery Slope]] when his curiosity went too far, but as Ansem's traitorous apprentice, he's much more clearly evil.

If you're being literal, he has one wing in the first game and three in ''KHII'' - on the other hand, the hip-wings do make an interesting callback to his actual OneWingedAngel form.

** EnergyBall: Another common attack of his Guardian. His final form in [[spoiler: ''3D'' will use a very powerful version for his desperation attack.]]
