The other half of this trope is shown in Gentaro's social skills (he's incredibly good with people and can befriend just about anyone, plus is a very good judge of character and knows when someone is hiding something), his deductive reasoning (figuring out who the Monster of the Week was based on a character tic), and his ability to learn, adapt, and improvise during battle.

** His {{Retraux}} hobbies help him figure out the identity of DJ Gene in #35 because Gentaro always requested an ''enka'' song--Cape Friendship--that Gene never wanted to play on his radio show.

* SingleTargetSexuality: Nadeshiko is the only person of either sex he's ever shown romantic attraction to, even when at least four other people all have shown interest in ''him'', which he was completely oblivious to.
* TheSocialExpert: He may not be the best at academics, but he is great at understanding others. This not only allows him to make friends with remarkable ease, even when said friends were once enemies, it also makes him a great judge of character.
* StaticCharacter: Within the main series, Gentaro undergoes relatively little CharacterDevelopment or introspection by the standards of ''Rider'' protagonists, with much of his focus is instead spent on how his worldview and optamism positively impact those around him. Side-material however gives him a bit more personal growth, with the novel being speicifically about his personal choice to become a teacher.
* StockShonenHero: Practically an AffectionateParody of one. Gentaro is a HotBlooded IdiotHero driven by his ceaseless optamism and belief in the PowerOfFriendship. Even his appearence is a take on the classic JapaneseDelinquents manga the codified these themes in Japanese pop-culture.

* TransferStudentUniforms: Rather than the Amanogawa uniform, he wears a more old-fashioned style of uniform in keeping with his "delinquent" image.

* UnwantedHarem: #25-26 focus, in part, on several third-year girls wanting to ask Gentaro out to prom. [[spoiler:Including Miu.]] Kinda subverted, as it wasn't that he didn't want them, he was just too dull to notice they were into him. Not to mention, they were Ritsuko and Tamae, former Zodiarts he defeated. Also, he made them made when images of the Alter Zodiarts made him suspecious that Ritsuko got her hands on another Switch.
