!!Ruby
!!!Voiced by: Creator/AyakaSaitou
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Ruby_Profile_9848.png
-->''"[[GenkiGirl I love playing]] [[BigEater and eating!]] [[DumbIsGood I'm a little]] [[TheFool mischievous!]] I'm Ruby!"''
The Jewelpet of Courage or, in later years, Luck, Ruby is the main heroine of the series. She is a white Japanese hare who wears a pink and red cherry blossom on her head, as well as a necklace shaped like a pair of red cherries. Her birthday is on July 29 and her name is based on the gemstone ruby.

In the first series, Ruby is a Jewelpet of the Acrylic rank. Because she is the only one who escapes being dropped on Earth, the Majos send her to find her fellow pets. Her Jewel Charm form falls into Rinko's drinking glass that night and she's awakened by Rinko's magic using the Jewel Pocketbook the next day. Her carelessness gives her partner Rinko a hard time. Despite this, she and Rinko get appointed to find the missing Jewelpets on Earth and to handle every problem they encounter.

In ''Twinkle'', Ruby is a new student in the Magic Academy. Her admittance exam is to find a human partner on Earth who matches the feelings of her heart, and so she meets Akari. After that, she gets accepted in the academy along with Akari and lives with her in the human world. She also acts as Labra's older sister.

In ''Sunshine'', she's a student at the Sunshine Academy and Kanon's roommate, with whom she has trouble getting along. She has a huge crush on Mikage, which worsens her relationship with Kanon.

In ''Kira Deco'', Ruby is the owner of the Kira Kira Shop, and is completely obsessed with decoration. She and her friends meet the [=KiraDeco=] 5 one night and they decide to work together to search for the Deco Stones. The Deco Stones tell her she is a Deco Stone Master, the only one who can use the Deco Stones' power and destroy the darkness that plagues the human world.

In ''Happiness'', Ruby is just your average Jewelpet, until she meets Jewelina and is entrusted with the magical Jewel Box. Given a mission to make friends, she is entrusted to fill the jewel box with happiness jewels, but also needs to attend the Jewel Academy and open a shop called the Jewel Cafe. However, things don't go well as several mishaps happen and the students get scared of her. In the verge of giving up, she is befriended by Chiari, a 9th grade student, and they start helping each other out in managing the cafe.
----

* BadassArmfold: She does it in the second opening of ''Happiness''.
* BadassInDistress: [[spoiler:She gets kidnapped by Sanada in episode 51 of ''Happiness'' and becomes impregnated with Unhappiness to the point where she starts changing color. A magically empowered Chiari goes to rescue her.]]
* BeautyBrainsAndBrawn: The Brawn of the three.
* BigEater
* BirdsOfAFeather: Granite has a similar personality to her in ''Kira Deco''. She also has a great relationship with Pink on account of their tastes and the fact that Pink is more lively and joyful than previous protagonists.
** She also bonds well with Retsu in some episodes because of their passionate personalities.
* BookDumb: Hates studying, which probably doesn't contribute to her already unphenomenal intelligence.
* BreakTheCutie: ''Sunshine'', [[spoiler:after Kanon beats her to it in asking Mikage out and he says yes. She got over it shortly after.]]
* BunniesForCuteness
* CallingYourAttacks: '''"JEWEL FLASH!"''', '''"JEWEL RETURN!"''', '''"JEWEL SWEETS FLASH!"'''

* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}
** TheCuckoolanderWasRight: Well she is a bit smart on some occasions.
* CommonalityConnection: She immediately likes Pink, whom she just met, because of her jewel decorations, although Pink takes a while to reciprocate.
* CoolBigSis: To Park in the movie.
* CoolCrown: Wields one in the movie's climax.
* CrashIntoHello: How she met Tour in the first series.
* CreateYourOwnVillain: It's revealed in the last episode of ''Happiness'' that [[spoiler:the crisis of the Red Moon is her fault, because sometime before the show, she drew a face on the mirror of the moon and it reflected in its surface, making people scared of it and causing it to start resenting them and creating Unhappiness. Jewelina summoned all the Jewelpets to collect Magic Gems soon after.]]

** In ''Kira Deco'', [[spoiler:episode 50 starts with her dying protecting Pink from Kaiser, but the latter manages to revive her at the end of the same episode.]]
* TheDulcineaEffect: It's friendship instead of love, but she tackles Pink out of the way of Angela and Labra's arresting spell even though she hardly knows her at the time.
* DumbIsGood
* EarAche: Ruby got pulled in the ears twice by Rinko in episode 6. Kanon also tends to swing her around by her ears.
* EraSpecificPersonality: There isn't much of a difference in her personality between the seasons, but she's more of a supportive, foolishly wise type in ''Twinkle''.
* EverythingsBetterWithSparkles: Obsessed with them in ''Kira Deco''.
* {{Expy}}: Of [[Anime/OnegaiMyMelody My Melody]].
* EyePoke: Suffered this in ''Kira Deco''.
* FieryRedhead: Her human form, since Ruby is HotBlooded.
* FlowerMotifs: Ruby wears a cherry blossom hairpin near her right ear. In the language of flowers, the cherry blossom symbolizes kindness.
* TheFool
* FriendlyRival: To Kanon in ''Sunshine'' and one-sided on her account to Opal in ''Kira Deco''.
* FunPersonified
* GenkiGirl: Endlessly cheerful and lively.
* GetAHoldOfYourselfMan: To Akari in the first episode of ''Twinkle'', when the two were falling to their deaths.
* HairDecorations: A cherry blossom hairpin.
** Her human form has a white ribbon resembling rabbit ears.
* TheHeroine
* HeroicAlbino: White with red eyes.
* HeroicBSOD: Is in this state for much of episode 24 of ''Sunshine'', [[spoiler:after Mikage and Kanon declare they are going out]]. The shock of confirmation through the school newspaper combined with the return of Tour snap her out of this.
* HighSchoolSweethearts: [[spoiler:With Mikage]].
* HotBlooded: Certainly an impulsive girl, she can also be extremely passionate when it counts.
* HotForTeacher: Her crush on ''Twinkle''-era Tour, who's a teacher.
* HourOfPower: First series. [[spoiler:After achieving Super Crystal class, she loses it in the last episode, after everything settles down.]] She's very upset at the revelation.
* ImprovisedArmour: In episode 36 of ''Lady'', she successfully blocks Romeo's sword thrust with her Jewel Pad.
* IneptMage: Her most enduring characteristic. In the more serious seasons, she grows out of it.
* InterspeciesRomance: Tour in the first series and ''Twinkle'', Mikage in ''Sunshine'' and Granite since ''Sunshine'''s ending.
* IronButtMonkey
** SquashedFlat: In episode 42 of ''Sunshine'', prompting Peridot [[LampshadeHanging to ask]] [[ToonPhysics how she does it]].
* {{Kawaiiko}}
* KillerRabbit: Comes with being one of the most powerful Jewelpets.
* KillTheCutie: ''Sunshine'' and ''Kira Deco''. [[spoiler:But comes back.]]
* TheKlutz
* LateToTheTragedy: First series starts out with all Jewelpets being transformed into their Jewel Charm form and becoming lost while being sent to the Forest of Dreams. The exception is Ruby, as she arrived late, so the Majos appoint her as the one to retrieve the lost Jewelpets.
* LeonineContract: Raku Majo takes her bad behaviour and more or less blackmails her into going into the human world to recover the Jewelpets.
* LethallyStupid: Her idiocy and impulsiveness occasionally put those around her in danger.
* LittleMissBadass: Regardless of her laziness, she is very powerful and shouldn't be provoked.
** CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass
* LoserProtagonist: She's dumb, she has terrible grades and her magic fails most of the time. But she tends to get better as the story goes on.
** TookALevelInBadass
* MadeOfExplodium: A failed spell in the first series causes an explosion.
* MementoMacGuffin: [[spoiler:Jewelina's Jewel Pod]] in ''Kira Deco''.
** In ''Happiness'', it's the Magical Jewel Box that Jewelina gave her.
* MessianicArchetype: ''Sunshine'' and ''Kira Deco''. In both continuities she's destined to save the world and in both continuities [[spoiler:she dies and ressurects]].
* MidSeasonUpgrade: First series, [[spoiler:the Mini Jewel Stick]] in episode 30.
** [[spoiler:Jewelina's Jewel Pod]] in episode 27 of ''Kira Deco''.
* MightyWhitey: One of the few clearly Japanese animals represented in the franchise is the most important one.
* MomentKiller: [[spoiler:Interrupts Rinko and Akira's kiss in the finale.]]
* MotivationalLie: Telling Rinko that her courage spell really works truthfully is more of an attempt to save face, but it does help Rinko when she makes her speech.
* [[MrViceGuy Mrs Vice Girl]]: She's lazy and irresponsible as all hell, but firmly on the good side.
* NaiveNewcomer: ''Twinkle'', same as Akari.
* NaughtyIsGood
* OfficialCouple: With Granite as of ''Sunshine''.
* PinkGirlBlueBoy: Though she and Granite are mostly white, they have respectively pink and blue details in their designs (like the inside of their ears and their accessories; eyes would count if not for Ruby's being red).
* PlayboyBunny: Episode 37 of ''Sunshine'' and episode 41 of ''Kira Deco'', if only in an ImagineSpot.
* PluckyComicRelief
* PluckyGirl: It's rare to see her looking downcast; if she is, she'll have gotten over it by the episode's ending.
* PottyFailure: Episode 23 of the first series and ''Kira Deco''.
* ThePrankster: First series and ''Sunshine''.
* RascallyRabbit: Loves screwing around more than anything.
** RighteousRabbit: However, she has a strong sense of justice.
* RedOniBlueOni: With her ditzy, naive and enthusiastic personality, she's the red oni to a lot of people. Namely her human partners and bunny counterpart Luea.
* RescueRomance: In episode 10 of the first series, Ruby is determined to save Tour and protects him from the Phantom Herb Thieves, so that maybe he'll fall in love with her.
* RetiredBadass: ''Twinkle'' OVA. [[spoiler:Currently WalkingTheEarth with Diana and Opal.]]
* RobeAndWizardHat: [[http://www.puroland.jp/character/ruby Her Puroland counterpart]], reused in ''Twinkle'''s episode 27.
* RummageSaleReject: Non-fashion variant. Her idea of decoration in ''Kira Deco'' involves slapping a lot of colorful junk together with no care at all for any kind of order or congruence.
* SarcasmBlind: Being notoriously dense as she is, it's expected. It really becomes noticeable in ''Lady'', with Luea's subtle jabs at her and Momona's lack of ladylike qualities, which she takes as compliments.
* ScullyBox: InUniverse. Her [[ImagineSpot Imagine Spots]] with Mikage often have her standing on staircases or boxes so she can reach his face. When he's not holding her himself, that is.
* SeanConneryIsAboutToShootYou: Near the beginning of ''Sunshine'''s OP's 1st version, followed by a PistolPose.
** In other OP sequences, she uses a variation of this with spellcasting.
* SeriesMascot: Obviously, since she's the protagonist.
* ShipperOnDeck: Tends to ship her human partner with her love interest. To wit: Rinko/Akira, Akari/Yuuma, Chiari/Kosuke and Momona/Cayenne. Exceptions occur in ''Sunshine'' and ''Kira Deco''; the former because Ruby is also in love with the guy, and the latter because Pink has no real love interest.
* ShopKeeper: In ''Kira Deco'' where she owns the Kira Kira Shop and in Happiness where she owns the Jewel Cafe.
* TheSlacker: Always tries to skip out on studying or work.
* StepfordSmiler: While Kanon dates Mikage. You can tell she's trying to hide her sadness in some scenes.
** Also when [[spoiler:Rinko is kidnapped by Dian]] in episode 46 of the first series.
* SummoningRitual: ''Kira Deco''. She needs to do a crazy dance to make Deco Stones come to her and lend her their power.
* SupportingProtagonist: Yes, she's the main Jewelpet, but in most seasons plays second banana to whatever human she's partnered with (exceptions occur in ''Happiness'' and the movie).
* TakingTheBullet: ''Sunshine''. She shields [[spoiler:Kanon and Mikage from the Dark Queen's attack and dies in the process, though she comes back to life.]]
** ''Kira Deco''. [[spoiler:Gets in Kaiser's way when he attacks Pink; turns out he was aiming for her all along.]]
* TenMinuteRetirement: ''Lady''. Briefly quits being Momona's Mentor because of the guilt she feels from lying to her.
* ThinksLikeARomanceNovel: She's hopelessly romantic but things rarely work out exactly as she expects them.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The girly girl to Peridot in ''Kira Deco''. She followed the path of decoration, while Peridot followed that of adventuring.
* ToxicFriendInfluence: Apparently, she was this to Hinata when they were roommates. In episode 21-B of ''Sunshine'', she all but says that she preferred Hinata when she was an ExtremeDoormat because then she could mooch off her homework. It's safe to say that Hinata is much better off with Peridot (especially considering she kickstarts her character development) than she was with Ruby.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Carrots all around. Pudding in ''Sunshine''.
* TrainingFromHell: [[spoiler:Gets it from Labra in episode 50 of the first series, so her magic can reach the Super Crystal class.]]
* UnskilledButStrong: Ruby is a moron but her magic is definitely not weak. The problem is that she's rarely motivated. But when she is, [[LetsGetDangerous better watch your back]].
* UnwantedHarem: Gets no less than four romantic options in ''Sunshine'', three of which she actively rejects (and one being a one shot character).
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Kanon in ''Sunshine''. They whale on each other all the time, but when it comes down to it, they do care about each other.
* VoiceForTheVoiceless: In ''Happiness'', she's the only one capable of understanding the Red Moon's mumbles, so she flip-flops between repeating what it just said and answering it.
* VoiceOfTheLegion: In episode 49 of ''Lady'', a Beast speaks through her to talk to Momona, and her voice sounds like this.
* WalkingTheEarth: [[spoiler:At the end of ''Twinkle'', she goes off to find the Flower of Happiness with Diana, Opal, Jasper and Angela.]]
* WaveMotionGun: Ruby uses powerful magic beams during the final battle in ''Sunshine''. She even resorts to BeamSpam it.
* WhatTheHellHero: Occasionaly. One example is getting called out for abusing Opal in ''Sunshine''.
* WhiteBunny
* WomanInWhite
* WorldOfCardboardSpeech / WhatMeasureIsANonCute: Ruby gives this speech in ''Sweets Dance Princess''. Gumimin's rage can't be stopped and he keeps on eating everything in his path. The only way to stop him is to destroy the candy tower... but Ruby is against the idea, because that would entail killing him, and Gumimin is their friend who's been accompanying them in their journey, so she will never allow anyone to harm him.

!!Garnet
!!!Voiced by: Creator/AyaHirano
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Garnet_Profile_5460.png
-->''"The most adorable kitten, Garnet, is here!"''
The Jewelpet of Love and Beauty, Garnet is a pink Persian cat who wears a red ribbon and a pink jewel necklace. Just like her human partners, Garnet loves the colour pink. Garnet demonstrates an impressive talent for fashion, always knowing what clothing is best for the wearer. Her birthday is on January 8 and her name is based on the gemstone garnet.

In the first series, her partner is Minami after she confessed her weakness. At first Garnet doesn't like her, but when Minami showed Garnet her room, she had a change of heart. She is sassy and tough, yet likes cute stuff. She earned the "Glass Class" ranking in magic because her magic has a success rate of 50%.

In ''Twinkle'', she and Sango were both Miria's Jewepets, both performing magic along with her. She and Sango serve as Miria's conscience on what to do. She and Sango have a crush on Dian.

In ''Sunshine'', she's one of the students of Sunshine Academy. She is stylish and bold and has an idol in Nyanjelina. She dreams of becoming an actress and works very hard towards her dream, making her into something of a workaholic. Has a small rivalry with Diana. Masago loves her, which she is ignorant of, being too distracted with achieving her dream to be in a relationship.

In ''Kira Deco'', Garnet is from a rich family and likes fashionable stuff. She has a crush on one of the Kira Deco 5, Blue Knight, and appointed him as her personal butler, so he has to follow her around. Her Jewel Pod is decorated with lots of jewels.

In ''Happiness'', she is one of Ruby's friends who is given a mission to make friends and open the Jewel Cafe. She works as a waitress and is a steady worker.
----
* BeautyBrainsAndBrawn: The Beauty of the three.
* BigFancyHouse: ''Kira Deco''.
* BodyguardCrush: With Blue Knight.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Once by M-Kage.
* CallingYourAttacks: '''"JEWEL FLASH!"''', '''"JEWEL RETURN!"'''
* CatchPhrase: ''Sunshine''. "Strike it rich!", in European dubs, "Money, money, money!"
* CatsAreMean: She's definitely the nastiest of the mascots, but she's still good.
* CatStereotype: Snobby Persian. Played straight everywhere except ''Sunshine''.
* CatUpATree: Subverted in episode 2 of the first series. She didn't get stuck, as she was perfectly capable of using her broomstick to get out. She just did it to be a bitch to Minami and Rinko.
* CoolCrown: Wields one in the movie's climax.
* CrashIntoHello: How she meets Marie in ''Happiness''. Turns out to be less fateful than expected.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Pink fur and magenta eyes made of garnets.
* EraSpecificPersonality: She's a snobby fashionista most seasons. However, in ''Sunshine'', she's more of a humble hard worker.
* EverythingsBetterWithSparkles: ''Kira Deco''.
* TheFashionista: All of her incarnations. Garnet is a walking prima donna when it comes to clothes.
* TheFourLoves: The Jewelpet of Eros.
* HairDecorations: A ribbon.
* HeartBrokenBadass: Sunshine, in episode 25. She gets over it come end of the episode.
* HumongousMecha: ''Sunshine''; a giant prop of herself that she used in her comedy shows gets modified by Sapphie into this and is used in the final showdown arc against mecha-Sango.
* HypocriticalHumor: She frequently criticizes Ruby's behaviour but often goes on to do the exact same things as her.
** A specific case is her mocking Ruby's chaotically decorated Jewel Pod; she then shows off her own and it's as haphazardly decorated, the sole difference being that her materials are more elegant.
* InterspeciesRomance: Masago in ''Sunshine'', Blue Knight in ''Kira Deco''.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Everywhere but ''Sunshine''.
* LadyAndKnight: With Blue Knight.
* TheLancer or TheChick: Depending on the season.
* LargeHam: Particularly when she's talking herself up as the ultimate symbol of Love and Beauty.
* LittleMissBadass: Not as powerful as Ruby, but still a threat to be reckoned.
* LoveHurts: ''Sunshine''. Getting dumped by your boyfriend so he can get together with his old flame right before your eyes? And leaving you standing in the rain? That was douchey...
* LoveTriangle: ''Sunshine'' - she, Dian and Diana.
* MarriedToTheJob: ''Sunshine''. She disregards love in favor of chasing her dream of being an actress. She even tells Masago while [[spoiler:turning him down, "I'm already in love... with my dream."]]
* MeanBoss: In ''Happiness'', as the manager of the Cafe. Considering she has to deal with slackers like Ruby, Labra, etc., it's actually an understandable attitude.
* {{Meido}}: ''Sunshine'', working in the Strawberry Cafe.
* MidSeasonUpgrade: First series, the Mini Jewel Stick in episode 30.
* [[MrViceGuy Mrs Vice Girl]]: Very vain and arrogant, but a hero nonetheless.
* MyInstinctsAreShowing: In her and Miria's fight against Ruby and Akari, Ruby distracts her with a foxtail, prompting her to chase and paw at it, and Miria has to snap her out of it.
* NaturalWeapon: She sometimes uses her claws in dire situations, or when someone has generally pissed her off, like when she uses them on [[ObliviousToLove Hisashi]] for being insensitive to Minami.
* OutOfFocus: In ''Lady'', after Momona moves to the Royal Palace.
* PinkMeansFeminine: She's rose-colored and strives to be the epitome of feminine beauty.
* PluckyGirl: In ''Sunshine''. She's extremely determined to become a celebrity and works her butt off towards that goal.
* ThePowerOfLove: It's what she represents.
* ProudBeauty: Being the pet of Beauty, she loves it when others notice her for this, and gets very angry when someone else steals her spotlight in this department (Diana in ''Sunshine'').
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Delivers one to Miyamoto when he turns into a lazy bum in episode 5 of the first series.
* RetiredBadass: ''Twinkle'' OVA, alongside Sango.
* RobeAndWizardHat: Her [[http://www.puroland.jp/character/garnet Puroland counterpart]].
* SeriesMascot: Part of the trio of main characters.
* SpoiledSweet: ''Kira Deco''.
* ThoseTwoGirls: It's hard to dissociate her from Sango in ''Twinkle''.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: She's the (very) Girly Girl to two of her human partners - Minami from the first series and Mizuki from ''Lady''.
* {{Tsundere}}: Exhibits the personality in both romantic (Blue Knight) and non-romantic (anything else, really) contexts. Labra lampshades it in episode 33 of ''Happiness''.
* TsurimeEyes: Her appearance.
* VerbalTic: Played with in ''Happiness''. She forcefully puts "ga" and "net" at the end of phrases after seeing that most Jewelpets do it, in hopes that it'll add to her personality, but when speaking normally she never uses them.
* WithFriendsLikeThese: She's introduced in the first series bad-mouthing Ruby, even though the latter was busying herself finding shells to give to her.
* TheWorfEffect: Her defeat in episode 50 of ''Sunshine'' subverts what the audience expects of her as a member of the main trio.
* {{Workaholic}}: ''Sunshine'' shows this in a positive light, with Garnet being focused on making a living the best way she can while still attending auditions.
** It's more negatively portrayed in ''Happiness'', which portrays her as neurotic and obsessive with her work at the Cafe.

!!Sapphie
!!!Voiced by: Nozomi Sasaki
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Sapphie_Profile_469.png
-->''"Humble and modest... I'm the Jewel Dianthus, Sapphie."''
The Jewelpet of Friendship, Sapphie is a yellow and blue Cavalier King Charles spaniel who wears a pink and blue flower tiara and a necklace shaped like a blue musical note. She is friendly, calm and understanding of everyone's feelings. Sapphie is the most studious of the main three and has a knack for inventions and experiments. She relies on science and magic in all of her studies. Her birthday is on September 1 and her name is based on the gemstone sapphire.

In the first series, she is partnered with Aoi and is always with her. Debuting in the first episode, she fully appeared in the third episode after being awakened by Rinko and Ruby. As she convinced Aoi that her magic guarantees her ability to make friends, Aoi agrees to partner with her. For the remainder of the series Sapphie acts like a little sister to Aoi and is very supportive of her human partner, knowing her interests. Despite her quiet personality, she boasts the highest rank - "Crystal Class" - because her magic is always successful.

In ''Twinkle'', she is Sara's Jewelpet partner and her assistant in her experiments. She worries that Sara is too involved in her studies and encourages her to open up to people.

In ''Sunshine'', she is the smartest student of Sunshine Academy, despite belonging to the Plum class. She has a laboratory located underneath the academy. Created Nejikawa, her robot assistant and fellow student. She dreams of going to space.

In ''Kira Deco'', she is a genius student who sometimes gives lectures to the rest of the class. However, she is incredibly sloppy in her personal life, lacking such faculties as an ability to cook edible things or the willpower to clean her house. Kiichi lives with her and helps her with these things. Unlike her friends, her Jewel Pod is scarcely decorated, because she wants to find a Philosopher's Stone to decorate it with; this is her motivation to go look for the Deco Stones.

In ''Happiness'', she is one of Ruby's friends who is given a mission to make friends and open the Jewel Cafe. She works as a chef. Though she is a hard worker, she can be a bit clumsy.
----
* {{Adorkable}}: ''Kira Deco'' and the following seasons give more emphasis to her social awkwardness, forgetfulness, etc., which makes her even more adorable than in the past.
* BeautyBrainsAndBrawn: The Brains of the three.
* BadassBookworm: She's the most studious pets and one of the most capable at magic.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Best that you don't push this soft-spoken pet too hard, or you'll be in for some painful magic.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Once by M-Kage.
** In episode 47 of ''Sunshine'', [[spoiler:her resentment at not being hired by NASA causes her to become possessed by a ball of Dark Magic for a short while, which makes her selfishly obsessed with going to space.]]
* CallingYourAttacks: '''"JEWEL FLASH!"''', '''"JEWEL RETURN!"'''
* CoolCrown: Wields one in the movie's climax.
* CuteBookworm: Is the cute, quiet puppy a bookworm? Yes she is, ''yes she is!''
* {{Dojikko}}: ''Happiness''.
* EverythingsBetterWithSparkles: ''Kira Deco''.
* FeminineWomenCanCook: ''Happiness''. She works as a chef in the Jewelpet Cafe.
* ForScience: Some of the experiments she wants to do in ''Sunshine'', many of which she manages to try out on Ruby.
* TheFourLoves: The Jewelpet of Philia.
* GadgeteerGenius / TeenGenius: ''Sunshine''.
* GeniusSlob: ''Kira Deco''. She doesn't care for keeping her room tidy or other chores around the house because she considers them a waste of time that she could be using to learn something new. Thankfully, she has Kiichi to do that stuff for her.
* GoodIsNotNice: She's the kind of person who won't help her friends out of a hassle if she thinks they've deserved it.
* GreatBigLibraryOfEverything: She runs one in ''Kira Deco''.
* HairDecorations: A pink and blue flower garland.
* HeroicDog: The only one among the mascots. Subverted in ''Sunshine'', where she's still good, but a lot more amoral.
* IcyBlueEyes / InnocentBlueEyes: Though she's usually pretty nice, she can also behave more coldly than the other mascots.
* InterspeciesRomance: ''Sunshine''. Nejikawa, the robot she created, has a crush on her.
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: Episode 30 of ''Sunshine''. She had gotten curious about Iruka's secrets many times before, and this was the manner in which he dealt with it.
* LectureAsExposition: ''Kira Deco'', episode 1. She finds a book about the legend of Jewelina and the Mirror Ball in her library and gives a lecture about it to the students in her class (and, by extension, the viewers). Learning about it prompts Ruby to make it her mission to look for the Deco Stones, setting the main plot in motion.
* LethalChef: ''Kira Deco''. Only Kiichi can stand her food, and even then his skin turns all the colors of the rainbow.
* LittleMissBadass: The most powerful of the trio (provided Ruby hasn't unlocked the secrets of the universe or something), she can cast powerful spells like it's nothing.
* MidSeasonUpgrade: First series, the Mini Jewel Stick in episode 30.
* [[MrViceGuy Mrs Vice Girl]]: ''Sunshine''. She's a lot more self-centered in this season, and more worried about her science than other people's well-being.
* OnlySaneMan: More rational and less likely to freak out than her friends.
** Although even she has her limits, like when she and the gang get stuck on the deserted island in Kira Deco and her friends refuse to cooperate with her.
* OutOfCharacterMoment: Why is she having a catty rivalry with Garnet at the beginning of the movie?
* OutOfFocus: In ''Lady'', after Momona moves to the Royal Palace.
* ThePowerOfFriendship: Symbolizes Friendship.
* RetiredBadass: ''Twinkle'' OVA, became Labra's babysitter after Peridot became someone's new partner.
* RobeAndWizardHat: Her [[http://www.puroland.jp/character/saffy Puroland counterpart]].
* SeriesMascot: Part of the main mascots.

* ShutUpKirk: In episode 47 of ''Sunshine'', [[spoiler:while she's possessed by Dark Magic]], Mikage tries to convince her not to try going to space in her home-made rocket and tells her that she's being selfish and not thinking things through. She replies that someone who doesn't even have his own dream couldn't possibly understand those who do, which leaves Mikage [[HarshWordImpact knocked-out in shock]].

!!Labra
!!!Voiced by: Creator/MiyukiSawashiro
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Labra_2236.jpg
--->"Labula! I'm not a dog labu~!"
The Jewelpet of Mischief, Labra is a pink and white polar bear cub with blue heart-shaped paws and ears who wears a necklace shaped like a multi-colored ringed planet. Her birthday is on December 27 and her name is based on the mineral labradorite.

Debuting in episode 39 the first series as a baby Jewelpet born through Raku Majo's magic, she's a genius child who has the Super Crystal Class ranking, which means that her magic is always powerful and successful.

In ''Twinkle'', Labra is introduced in episode 3 spying on the classes of the Magic Academy and pranking its students. She wishes for her own human partner, but everybody she asked turned her down. She's incapable of using magic, although she releases a great deal of power when placed under stress. Because of this, Nicola accuses her of not being a Jewelpet, which drives her over the edge and makes her break Moldavite's statue. Akari then requests to be her partner and fixes the statue with her help, awakening Labra's dormant powers in the process. Labra is capable of amplifying the power of the spells cast by Ruby and Akari. She doesn't stay as often as Ruby (who acts like her big sister) in the human world.

In ''Sunshine'', she is part of the Plum class and shares a room with Angela. She is gifted with immense power, but has too little common sense to use it wisely. She has visions of Jewelina more frequently than any other Jewelpet.

In ''Kira Deco'', she, alongside Angela, is a patrol officer of Jewel Town. Despite her cute looks, she is a licensed police officer who can sentence anyone to jail for more than 600 years. She accepts high amounts of Deco as bail, which is how Pink and Blue escape imprisonment in jail.

In ''Happiness'', she is one of Ruby's friends who is given a mission to make friends and run the Jewel Cafe. She works as a waitress. She has a bit of a rivalry with Rossa.
----
* [[AmplifierArtifact Amplifier Jewelpet]]: ''Twinkle'', where her power is to optimize the pre-existing magical capacity of her partner(s).
* BabiesMakeEverythingBetter: First series.
* BabyTalk: Since ''Twinkle''. She couldn't talk at all in the first series.
* BearsAreBadNews: You do NOT want her angry.
* BearyFriendly: She's adorable and cuddly in a good mood.
* BerserkButton: In ''Twinkle'', she's not very amused by people who think [[IAmNotWeasel she's a dog]].
** In ''Sunshine'', deem her too young and magic will hit the fan.
* BettyAndVeronica: A friendship variant in ''Happiness''. She's the Veronica to Rossa's Betty.
* BreakoutCharacter: ''Twinkle''.
* TheChick
* ChildrenAreInnocent / KidsAreCruel: Presents both tropes, though in the first two seasons she only shows the first one. Starting with ''Sunshine'', she becomes more driven by her own desires, which is reflected in her selfish treatment of the people around her, but most of the time she doesn't really know that she's hurting people with the things she does, just like, you know, a real baby.
* ChildMage: The youngest mage in training since her debut.
* TheChosenOne: One of the [[spoiler:Wise Ones]] in ''Sunshine''.
* CoolCrown: Wields one in the movie's climax.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Her eyes are black, made of labradorites.
* FriendOnTheForce: ''Kira Deco'', after misundertandings are cleared up.
* GetAHoldOfYourselfMan: ''Sunshine''. She hits Angela in the face with a blowdryer when she's doubting her partnership with Shouko.
* GooGooGodlike: She's the youngest Jewelpet and the most powerful, maybe.
* GreatGazoo: Possesses cosmic-grade powers and loves using them to play around.
* HeartSymbol: Her ears and her hindpaws.
* ImprobableAge: ''Sunshine''; she's a toddler but is already in the last year of high school? Whoa.
* InnocentBlueEyes: Her eyes have a blue edge to them, as in "baby blues".
* InnocentlyInsensitive: Much like an actual child.
* ItAmusedMe: She'd rather use magic to amuse herself than to do good (or bad) by others.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She becomes brattier as the anime goes on, but is still firmly on the good guys' side.
* {{Kawaiiko}}: She rivals Ruby at this.
* KidAppealCharacter: Tiny, fluffy, childlike.
* [[KillerRabbit Killer Bear Cub]]: Her supersonic scream in ''Twinkle'' and her powerful magic abilities in ''Kira Deco''. Jewelina says in ''Sunshine'' that her power is that of the universe, so yeah.
* LadyLooksLikeADude: Gets mistaken by a boy in an episode of ''Happiness''. Apparently the spiky bangs on her head are the cause of confusion. She's not thrilled.
* MakeMeWannaShout: Her screams.

* StarPower: Her power is that of the universe, after all. When she casts a spell, the incantation scene will usually show planets, stars and the like around her. She also has her Saturn necklace to drive the point further home.
* TagAlongKid: Being a baby and all.
* ThoseTwoGirls: With Angela as of ''Sunshine''. ''Might'' turn into a PowerTrio with the addition of Rossa in ''Happiness''.
* TomboyWithAGirlyStreak: In ''Happiness'', contrasting Rossa's GirlyGirl.
* TookALevelInJerkass: Becomes meaner with each passing season.
* UnSorcerer: At her introduction in ''Twinkle'', she's incapable of casting magic, which isn't normal for a Jewelpet. It turns out that she can only unlock her powers by becoming someone's partner, and that her power of spell amplification is one that no other Jewelpet has.
* VerbalTic: ''Labu~''. Translated in some dubs as ''Gugu~''.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Rossa.

!!Angela
!!!Voiced by: Creator/AkiToyosaki
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Angela_9632.jpg
--->"Paca~?"
The Jewelpet of Solace, Angela is a light pink alpaca with a white face and ears, who wears two flower garlands on her ears and a blue jewel necklace with angel wings. Angela is friendly and laid-back, but you don't want to get on her bad side. Her birthday is on March 30 and her name is based on the mineral anhydrite.

Formally debuting in the last episode of ''Twinkle'' (though she was seen in flashbacks previously), Angela was one of Fealina's Jewelpet partners alongside Opal, who once used their powers to seal the Battest. However, she died with Fealina to do so, reverting into a Jewel Charm before the events of the anime began.

In ''Sunshine'', she is a student of Sunshine Academy's Plum class. She's lazy and easy-going. She shares a room wih Labra and carries her around on her back. She was incapable of speaking until episode 12. She bonds with Shouko throughout the season with her ability to turn into a motorcycle.

In ''Kira Deco'', she, alongside Labra, is a patrol officer of Jewel Town. She takes care of both her and Midori and has a rocky relationship with Retsu.

In ''Happiness'', she accompanies Ruby in her mission to run the Jewel Cafe. She works as a waitress. Despite going at her own pace, she is strong willed and looks after both Labra and Rossa.

* TheChosenOne: One of the [[spoiler:Wise Ones]] in ''Sunshine''.
* CoolBigSis: To Labra and Rossa.
* CoolCrown: Wields one in the movie's climax.
* DoggedNiceGirl: Acts this way to Takumi in ''Happiness'', insisting in being with him despite him constantly giving her the cold shoulder.
* DullEyesOfUnhappiness: In an episode of ''Happiness'', Labra and Rossa seem to enjoy riding a dragon better than her, and Angela reacts in this way. Another major example is when [[spoiler:Takumi gets possessed by the Red Moon and goes around letting other girls pet him.]]
* DumbIsGood: Slow-witted, mostly thinks about food and the younger characters' safety.
* [[EverythingsBetterWithLlamas Everything's Better With Alpacas]]

* RobeAndWizardHat: Her [[http://www.puroland.jp/character/angela Puroland counterpart]], reused in episode 40 of ''Kira Deco'' and episode 25 of ''Happiness''.
* SleptThroughTheApocalypse: In episode 35 of ''Kira Deco'', she's asleep while Dian imprisons the inhabitants of Jewel Town in cards.
* SpinAttack: She loves using this in ''Kira Deco'', and combines it with her fire powers for maximum damage.
* StrappedToAnOperatingTable: In episode 12 of ''Sunshine'', by Kurara, who wants to use her magic.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: With Retsu in episode 35 for the sake of Labra. Though it's one-sided as Retsu is enthusiastic about it.
* TenMinuteRetirement: A bad accident in the Moto GP causes her to go into this.
* ThoseTwoGirls: With Labra as of ''Sunshine''. ''Might'' turn into a PowerTrio with the addition of Rossa in ''Happiness''.
* {{Troll}}: The first few episodes after she starts talking in ''Sunshine'', she seems to enjoy screwing with people's heads by suddenly talking and then reverting to 'paca-paca' when they ask her a question.

In ''Lady'', she is ace Petit Lady Elena's Mentor. Though she speaks politely, she can be a bit arrogant. She's also a skilled fortune teller.

Shown to be klutzy and very prone to breaking stuff, she tries to correct her own mistakes and learn from them. Later on in the story, she started to develop a friendship with Ruby and her friends and in the epilogue, she opens a candy shop named "Happy Drop".

* TheHeroine: Of the novel.
* TheLastOfTheseIsNotLikeTheOthers: Though considered a Jewelpet, she has obvious characteristics of Sweetspets (her eyes are not made of jewels, but of sweets; that's the first thing to consider when categorizing a pet). http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/flora_jewelpet_3124.jpg

The Jewelpet of Prediction, Flora is a yellow sheep with a white face and ears who wears a green bow around her neck with a bell hanging from it. Her birthday is on January 17 and her name is based on the mineral fluorite.

She debuted in episode 11 of the first series, as Tatewaki's partner. She has a pure, tenderhearted, easy-going personality, always looking up to her partner like he's her big brother. Her speech always ends with "Desu". She was awakened when Tatewaki was under the influence of Diana's dark magic.

In ''Twinkle'', she was a part of the Jewel Star Grand Prix competition, as the object of a chase which was disputed by Akari and Marianne.

In ''Kira Deco'', she holds the valuable Golden Wool, which is famous for its softness. Ruby and the others try to catch her so Pink can have new clothes. She willingly offers her wool when Ruby proves herself a worthy rival.
----
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Marianne almost gets her ass handed over to her when she pisses her off.

* BirdsOfAFeather: With Angela in ''Sunshine''.
* TheChick: First series.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Akari and Marianne thought she'd be easy to catch because she appeared to be slow in every sense of the word. She's actually a beastly magic user, added to the fact that she can predict their moves.
* GetBackHereBoss: ''Twinkle''.
* GreenEyes: Made of fluorites.
* TheMakeover: She gets one in ''Happiness'' in order to impress Taira with her coolness. Turns out to be unnecessary.

* ThatsNoMoon: In ''Kira Deco'', she hides in the guise of a cloud. Sapphie says [[ShoutOut "That's... no creampuff"]].
* ThroughHisStomach: One of the plans to impress Taira is to give him some of her ice-cream.
* VerbalTic: ''"~Desu!"'' and ''"~moko!"''

The Jewelpet of Adventure, Tour is a gray American shorthair cat who wears a necklace shaped like a green star. His birthday is on October 13 and his name is based on the jewel tourmaline.

Debuting in episode 10 of the first series, he's aristocratic, charismatic and kind to everyone, especially to Ruby, who loves him. He is a good adventurer and has good physical capabilities.

In ''Twinkle'', he's Sulfur's Jewelpet partner and therefore a teacher. He's Ruby's LoveInterest here, too.

In ''Sunshine'', he is in the Rose class and is Ruby's childhood friend and ex-boyfriend, who went to Spain to study. His Spanish accent is a result of an accident involving [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomatina a tomato-throwing festival]] and a very HotBlooded Spanish man. He plays the guitar and still has a crush on her, making him a rival to Mikage. Ruby accepts his feelings but rejects him to be with Granite.

In ''Kira Deco'', Tour is a member of the Four Heavenly Kings and he and Kohaku are assigned Coal's job of taking the Deco Stones.
----
* BigBrotherInstinct: First series, towards Minami's twin brothers that he's bonded with.
* BlueBlood: Said to be this in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it line in the first series. It doesn't have bearing on anything at all.
* TheBrute: Out of the Decoranain, he's the most likely to use brute force (like throwing a cactus or flailing his guitar).
* ButtMonkey: ''Sunshine''.
* CatchPhrase: ''Sunshine''. "I am Tour! El tornado y el toro bravo!"
* CatsAreMean: ''Kira Deco''.
* CatStereotype: Grey and a mentor-type character in ''Twinkle''. Otherwise, averted.
* CrashIntoHello: How he met Ruby in the first series.
* DistressedDude: When he was captured by Diana in episode 25 of the first series.
** BoundAndGagged: Episode 26.
* {{Determinator}} / DoggedNiceGuy: Quite the persistent guy in ''Sunshine''. In episode 48 he tells Ruby that he won't stop playing his guitar until she gives an answer to his confession. Even after a string snaps and hurts his hand, he refuses to stop.
* EraSpecificPersonality: He's charismatic and gentlemanly in the first 2 seasons. ''Sunshine'' turns him into an obnoxious never-give-up guy with literal brain damage; in ''Kira Deco'' he's that ''and'' a villain. In ''Happiness'', he's arrogant but has a good heart deep down.
* GratuitousSpanish: ''Sunshine''.
* GreenEyes: Made of tourmalines.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Kohaku in ''Kira Deco''.
* HopelessSuitor: ''Sunshine''. He can't take the hint that Ruby loves Mikage until one of the last episodes. Also, Ruby makes it clear that she has no taste for the tics he picked up in Spain.
* HotBlooded: ''Sunshine''.
* InHarmsWay: Adventure is his characteristic, so naturally he has an urge for it in the first series.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: ''Happiness''. He picks on people who live in the city and mocks Mouri in particular, but later helps him overcome his fear of table tennis.
* LatinLover: ''Sunshine''.
** As well as ''Kira Deco''. He drops it when he and Kohaku assert their partnership, but it's back on the next time we see him...
* MentorMascot: To Sulfur in ''Twinkle''.
* NatureHero: ''Happiness''. He lives in the woods and despises the city and the people in it.
* NiceHat: ''Sunshine''. Wears a stetson for some reason. Maybe he picked it up from {{Spaghetti Western}}s? It's carried over to ''Kira Deco''.
* PromotionToLoveInterest: Inverted. He and Ruby were meta-canon until he got replaced by Granite in the end of ''Sunshine''.
* PunnyName: Concerning his spaniard character in some seasons - the joke is that the Japanese pronounciation of his name is similar to the Spanish word for 'bull' (to wit: "Tooru" - "toro", get it?).
* StalkerWithACrush: ''Sunshine''.
* UnluckyChildhoodFriend: ''Sunshine''.
* UptownGirl: In the first series, he's an aristocrat and Ruby has a crush on him.

** Pink and Ruby are also affected in ''Kira Deco''.
* DesperatelyCravesAffection: ''Kira Deco''. According to Sapphie, he turns huge when he wants attention or play with others.
* DoesNotKnowHisOwnStrength: ''Kira Deco'', when he turns huge. He severely injures the members of Kira Deco 5 (except Pink) when he tries playing with them.
* TheDreaded: ''Sunshine''.
* DumbIsGood: He's pretty slow-witted, but also one of the nicest Jewelpets.
* TheFourLoves: The Jewelpet of Storge.
* GentleGiant: Giant by Jewelpet standards, at any rate. But yeah, he's very sweet.
* GRatedDrug: In ''Sunshine'', people who touch him have a hard time getting his hands off him. It's revealed that a past classmate (a tiny weasel) felt so good around him that he decided to go live in his fur forever.
* GreenEyes: Made of emeralds.
* HalfDressedCartoonAnimal: Wears a waistcoat.
* HowlingToTheNight: Parodied at the start of episode 40 of ''Kira Deco''. "Mo-fuuuuuuu..."
* InterspeciesAdoption: Adopts Luna in ''Kira Deco''.
* MementoMacGuffin: His waistcoat is this in ''Kira Deco''. It came from Miyuki, the human he bonded with.
* MistakenForBadass: ''Sunshine'', Iruka thinks the effect he has on his classmates (since they seem so terrified; they're actually repressing their urge to touch him) is because he's a delinquent.
* NegatedMomentOfAwesome: In episode 52 of ''Kira Deco'', he turns huge and looks like he's about to give the Dark General the pummeling of his life... but then he reverts to his normal size and starts eating bamboo, causing everyone to FaceFault.

* ObliviousToLove: ''Sunshine''. Never realizes Shouko's feelings for him.
* OneShotCharacter: ''Twinkle''.
* PandaingToTheAudience
* PromotionToParent: First series. As the partner of Rinko's parents, he takes on a parental role towards Rinko and Ruby.
** He acts like a father to Luna in ''Kira Deco''.
* TheQuietOne: ''Sunshine''.
* SempaiKohai: ''Twinkle'', treats Labra as his sempai[[note]]in some dubs, teacher[[/note]], despite being clearly older than her. Labra is understandably ecstatic.
* SpeechImpairedAnimal: ''Kira Deco'' and ''Happiness''. He only says ''"~mofu"''.
* SuddenlyVoiced: In TheStinger of episode 32 of ''Happiness'', with lampshading by Ruby.

!!Tata
!!!Voiced by: Creator/JunkoTakeuchi
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_mv0v0f6xk01rvs136o1_1280_2245.jpg
Another Jewelpet of Courage, Tata is a white and grey squirrel monkey who wears a dark teal tie. His birthday is on December 19 and his name is based on the jewel turquoise.

Debuting in episode 32 of the first series, he is joyful, brash and a big troublemaker. His magic ranks Acrylic Class, so it causes explosions and bad luck. He and Ruby are extremely similar in personality and get along well.

He appears occasionally in ''Twinkle''. He steals Moldavite's microphone and retrieving it is Akari's first exam.

Many of him appeared in ''Sunshine'' in a few episodes, marking the first time that a Jewelpet is shown not to be unique.

In episode 12 of ''Kira Deco'', he's the thief who's been stealing random objects in Jewel Town. Jasper arrives in town to capture him, but fails and enlists Midori's help. Tata loves to taunt his opponents and is a speedy fighter. He later gets defeated by Retsu.
----
* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: Episode 9 of ''Twinkle'', when Akari and co.'s efforts to catch him end up pissing him off.
** Episode 12 of ''Kira Deco''. He's pissed off again and uses this against Midori and Jasper.
** Episode 40 of ''Happiness'', and fights against an equally huge Ruby.
* DumbIsGood
* EverythingsBetterWithMonkeys
* TheFool: It's like he's a second Ruby.
* GetBackHereBoss: ''Twinkle'', as Akari's first exam.
* GreenEyes / InnocentBlueEyes: Varies. In the toys they look more green, in the anime blue. He's Magical Green.
** UsefulNotes/GreenIsBlue
* IronButtMonkey
* IShallTauntYou: If there's one thing he loves in all seasons, it's taunting people.
* {{Keet}}
* NearlyNormalAnimal: ''Sunshine'', where they apparently can't speak and behave very much like normal monkeys.
* ThePrankster: Most of his appearances.
* RapidFireFisticuffs: Uses them in ''Kira Deco''.
* SpeechImpairedAnimal: ''Sunshine'' and ''Kira Deco''.
* StickyFingers: ''Kira Deco''. It's not clear what his motives for stealing stuff are.
** He also steals Moldavite's microphone in ''Twinkle'' when he could've just asked for it.
* WildCard: His course of action is quite unpredictable, as he has no particular loyalties. Generally all he does is muck around and be a nuisance.

!!Kris
!!!Voiced by: Aki Kanada
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/0393a714514696c338baf60339f9cd53.jpg
The Jewelpet of Success at Work, Kris is a grey miniature long-haired dachshund who wears a black waistcoat and a dark green bow tie. His birthday is on July 5 and his name is based on the mineral chrysocolla.

Debuts in episode 37 of the first series, as part of the Jewel Eight. Dian brainwashes him into cursing the Strawberry Cafe, causing Luna, Milky and Peridot to lose all their customers. He's then reclaimed by Rinko's group through the Jewel Games and becomes the manager of the Strawberry Cafe on Earth. He speaks in a Kyoto dialect.

In ''Kira Deco'', Kris owns an exclusive clothing store in Jewel Town. Clients need a membership card to enter it. Ruby takes Pink to see him and ask for clothes, but Kris only has clothes for Jewelpets.
----
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: By Dian in the first series.
* CoolestClubEver: His clothing store in ''Kira Deco'' is meant to give you vibes of this, with all the exclusiveness and whatnot.
* DarkIsEvil: His corrupted form in the first series.
* DemotedToExtra: ''Twinkle'' onwards. Then again he wasn't very relevant in the first series to start with, beyond being a one-episode villain.
* GenderBlenderName: 'Kris' and 'Chris' are homophones; the one with a 'k' is feminine. Then again, the intention was probably to call him 'Chrys', especially since that's closer to his jewel's name.
* TheGenericGuy
* GreenEyes: Made of chrysocollas.
* HalfDressedCartoonAnimal
* [[InformedSpecies Informed Breed]]: It's hard to see the traits of a dachshund in him, because the Jewelpets' body sizes are pretty restrictive, so he can't have a body as long as a regular dachshund. This combined with his overly furry ears make him closer to Sapphie's breed.
* KansaiRegionalAccent
* NiceHat: ''Kira Deco''. *tips fedora*
* ShopKeeper: First series and ''Kira Deco''.

[[folder:Magical Blue Class]]
!!Luna
!!!Voiced by: Creator/RumiShishido (first series-Lady), misono (Magical Change)
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/luna_jewelpet_4388.jpg
The Jewelpet of Charm Improvement, Luna is a pink and yellow Netherland dwarf rabbit who wears a blue bow and a necklace shaped like a blue crescent moon. Her birthday is on June 8. Her name is the Latin word for moon while her jewel powers come from her base jewel, moonstone.

Debuting in episode 15 of the first series, she's the most artistic of all the Jewelpets, drawing pictures in her sketchbook. Her magic has the Glass Class ranking. Her magic has a time limit, lasting until midnight. She's one of the owners of the "Strawberry Cafe" in both Jewel Land and Earth along with Milky and Peridot.

In ''Twinkle'', she and Milky are Halite's partners. They were also commentators for the Jewel Star Grand Prix.

In ''Sunshine'', she is in the Rose class. In episode 41, she competes with Labra in gaining Jewelina's favor to become her apprentice.

In ''Kira Deco'', Luna is a Jewelpet living on the moon. But in the events of episode 27, she ended up in Jewel Land without her memories and shrunk down to a small size due to a Deco Stone inside a bamboo. She was found by Rald who raised her as his own child, only later revealing her true self after the Kira Deco 5 reclaimed the Deco Stone. She leaves Jewel Land and returns to the Moon, saying goodbye to the one who raised her.

In ''Happiness'', Luna works in the Jewel Land post office, managing and delivering letters. Though she tries to hide it, she feels lonely without any co-workers. Nobara is the first one to realize this, and they create a Magic Gem together.
----
* AscendedExtra: Luna has never been a very important character; the most that she gets is one episode focused on her. But in ''Magical Change'', she's a main character.
* BunniesForCuteness
* CombatCommentator: ''Twinkle''.
* DemotedToExtra: In ''Twinkle''. In ''Sunshine'' and ''Kira Deco'' she at least got focus for one or two episodes.
* EraSpecificPersonality: Artsy in the first series, non-descript in ''Twinkle'', jerkass in ''Sunshine'' and royalty in ''Kira Deco''.
* TheFashionista: First series.
* GracefulLoser: ''Sunshine''. She acknowledges that her dark feelings partially caused her defeat and pleads with Jewelina to give Labra another chance, since she had saved her.
* GratuitousFrench: First series.
* HairDecorations: A blue bow.
* ImageSong: See Peridot.
* InnocentBlueEyes: Made of moonstone.
* InterspeciesAdoption: Adopted by Rald in ''Kira Deco''.
* {{Jerkass}}: ''Sunshine''. She gets better after Labra saved her life.
* {{Lunacy}}
* TheMakeover: Believe it or not, this is her whole power.
* {{Meganekko}}: Wears glasses in ''Magical Change''; her human form too.
* MoonRabbit: Of course Japan would make the moonstone Jewelpet a rabbit. [[spoiler:''Kira Deco'' lampshades it in episode 28 when she is portrayed as the Princess of the Moon.]]
* PaletteSwap: Chiari confuses her with Ruby in her ''Happiness'' introduction, although they are by no means the only example.
* PillarsOfMoralCharacter: Presents ''On'' in ''Sunshine''. Labra saved her life so she forfeits her chance to become Jewelina's apprentice and begs her to take in Labra.
* ThoseTwoGirls: With Milky.
* VerbalTic: '''''~Dana!'''''
* WhenTheClockStrikesTwelve: The time limit in the first series.

!!Charotte
!!!Voiced by: MAKO
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/charotte_happiness_8163.jpg
The Jewelpet with a Challenging Spirit, Charotte is a yellow and black striped bumblebee wears a purple crystal bow on her head and a purple jewel necklace shaped like a flower. Her birthday is on April 3 and her name is based on the mineral charoite.

Debuting in episode 46 of ''Twinkle'', Charotte and [[OneSceneWonder Sagan]] are candidates in the Jewel Star Grand Prix who challenge Sara and Sapphie in the semi-finals of the competition but lose in the end, [[GracefulLoser and congratulate them for their performance.]]

In ''Sunshine'', she is a student of the Plum class of Sunshine Academy. She rooms with one of Kanon's friends Kaede, though she's usually seen hanging out with Shouko, and has a crush on a mosquito named Katori.

In ''Kira Deco'', Charotte is a huge romantic in search of someone deserving of her love. She develops a crush on Midori and seduces him by giving him her honey. However, Midori sees her affection as a way to beat Retsu and uses her honey to get himself a harem, causing her to leave him for Retsu in the process.
----
* BewareMyStingerTail
* CoolCrown: Wields one in the movie's climax.
* EtTuBrute: ''Sunshine'', she was betrayed by her best friend (a nameless, black Jewelpet that kind of looks like a fly) and decided that she didn't need friends until she met Shouko.
* EverythingsWorseWithBees: Subverted most of the time.
* TheFakeCutie: ''Kira Deco''. She is very devious under that sweet outside.
* FastballSpecial: Shouko weaponizes her like this at least once.
* FourLeggedInsect
* FunSize: Beats Amelie in being the smallest Jewelpet ever.
* GetAHoldOfYourselfMan: In ''Sunshine'', she stings Shouko in the face for giving up on Master so easily.
* HairDecorations: A ribbon-shaped jewel.
* HerHeartWillGoOn: In the epilogue of ''Sunshine'', [[spoiler:she's shown to lead a happy life despite carrying a funeral portrait of Katori around.]]
* InterspeciesRomance: Her crush on Katori, the mosquito. By the way, Katori is [[spoiler:female! Charotte doesn't seem to notice this, though.]]
** In ''Kira Deco'', she gets into a relationship with Midori and later Retsu. She's even seen kissing the former.
* JapaneseDelinquents: ''Sunshine''.
* ManipulativeBitch: ''Kira Deco'', where she uses honey to forcibly seduce her object of affection.
* MoreDakka: ''Happiness'', when she fires her stinger against Marie and her lackeys.
* NotWhatItLooksLike: Says this in ''Happiness'' when Marie catches her forming a Magic Gem with Mu-chan.
* PurpleEyes: Made of charoite.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Gives it to Midori.
* RobeAndWizardHat: Her [[http://www.puroland.jp/character/charott Puroland counterpart]].
* ShockAndAwe: Her magic attack in ''Kira Deco''.
* SickeninglySweetHearts: With Katori in ''Sunshine''.
* ThroughHisStomach: What she uses her honey for in ''Kira Deco''. Also quotes the trope title.
* {{Tsundere}}: ''Sunshine''.
* TheVamp: ''Kira Deco''.
* VerbalTic: ''Twinkle'' - '''''~Charo!'''''
* VoiceForTheVoiceless: Sometimes for Katori in ''Sunshine''.
* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman: The Kira Deco 5 think that Midori kissing her doesn't count as his first kiss because she's a bee, not a human, even if she has the full intelectual range of humans.
* WomanScorned: Cheating on her proves to be a [[{{Pun}} shocking]] experience for Midori.
* {{Yandere}}: Gives off this vibe in ''Kira Deco'', considering how she basically forces her affection on Midori by feeding him her honey.

!!Opal
!!!Voiced by: Creator/MiyukiSawashiro
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/opal_jewelpet_8_8839.jpg
The Jewelpet of Awakening and Miracles, Opal is a blue alicorn with a purple mane and tail and a yellow horn who wears strings of multi-coloured beads on her wings. Her birthday is on October 3 and her name is based on the gemstone opal.

Debuting in episode 26 of the first series, she is a legendary Jewelpet who restored a war-torn Jewel Land 1000 years ago and banished evil and dark magic in both worlds. She can only be awakened by someone who has the Super Crystal Class magic ranking using the Jewel Stick. She may also appear of her own will to stop an impending crisis from happening. She's summoned in episode 26 to stop Diana's rampage. She isn't seen again until episode 51.

In ''Twinkle'', she is Alma's Jewelpet partner, inherited from her mother, along with Diana, who was created by Alma. Unlike Diana, Opal refuses to go along with Alma's plans and tries to make her come to reason. She protects the Fountain Dragon from Alma's attack at the cost of her own life in episode 26, turning into her Jewel Charm form. Her spirit appears on occasion to warn Akari, Ruby and Labra of Alma's plans.

In ''Sunshine'', she is in the Plum class and serves as the vice-class representative. She is shy and cries easily, though she's also very hard-working. She is good friends with (and has a crush on) Jasper.

In ''Kira Deco'', she is one of Coal's lackeys, and intends to get the Deco Stones. She calls herself a "Gothic Princess", has a snooty personality and enjoys belittling others. Her hatred of Ruby started when she asked about the "bump" on her head, which is her horn, and she was embarrassed in front of a crowd by that question. After that, she vowed vengeance against Ruby.
----
* TheAce: First series.
* AllGirlsWantBadBoys: ''Sunshine''; she is a considerate and shy girl with a crush on the rude, slacking slob that is Jasper.
* AllWomenAreDomsAllMenAreSubs: Her relationship with Io in ''Kira Deco''.
* AlphaBitch: ''Kira Deco''.
* AntiVillain: After episode 45 in ''Kira Deco''.
* BigDamnVillains: [[spoiler:She saves Ruby in episode 51 of ''Kira Deco''.]]
* BlueOni: To Diana in ''Twinkle'' and to Nishigori in ''Sunshine''.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: By Kaiser in ''Kira Deco''.
* BrokenAngel: ''Twinkle''.
* BrokenPedestal: She spends much of ''Kira Deco'' thinking that Coal is awesome and a high ranking member of Decoranain. When he [[spoiler:gets fired]], she becomes disillusioned with everything around her and this is taken advantage of by Kaiser to [[spoiler:turn her a darker shade of black]].
* BrutalHonesty: ''Sunshine'', despite her shy demeanor.
* ClassRepresentative: ''Sunshine'', though only vice-representative. Which is unfair, really, considering she does the job much better than the guy above her. She's even the only one who remembers the names of the background student characters.
** BeleagueredAssistant
* {{Delinquent}}: ''Happiness'', which inherits a bit from her ''Kira Deco'' incarnation.
* DisneyDeath: [[spoiler:''Twinkle''.]]
* DisproportionateRetribution: ''Kira Deco''. She joins an evil organization because she wants to take revenge on a dumb rabbit who didn't know her horn is not a bump.
* ElegantGothicLolita: On rare occasions dresses like this in ''Kira Deco''. Most significantly, [[spoiler:when Kaiser brainwashes her.]]
* EraSpecificPersonality: Benevolent and God-like in the first series, voice of reason in ''Twinkle'', shy and timid in ''Sunshine'' and evil bitch in ''Kira Deco''.
* {{Expy}}: Of ''Cinnamoroll'''s Cornet, only gender swapped.
* FragileFlower: ''Sunshine''.
* HeavySleeper: She goes to sleep in the first episode of ''Happiness'' and sleeps enough that she isn't seen until episode 20 and is outraged at the fact that she slept so much.
* HypercompetentSidekick: ''Sunshine''. She's far better at being class representative than Nishigori.
* MoralityChain: After her death, there's no one who can talk Alma out of carrying out her plans.
* MustHaveCaffeine: ''Happiness''. As a result of her sleeping habits, she relies on Master's special blend of coffee.
* MyGreatestFailure: In ''Twinkle'', her inability to dissuade Alma from pursuing her revenge.
* OlympusMons: First series.
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: As she [[spoiler:saves Ruby from the Dark General]] in episode 51 of ''Kira Deco'', she says that the one to "punch her maw" will be her and no one else.
* PerkyGoth: ''Kira Deco'', although she's not so perky as she is loud and bitchy, and the Gothic Princess thing is pretty much limited to her having a black Jewel Pod and wearing some Gothic garments on special occasions, though she does fangirl extensively over Coal's use of black.
* PimpedOutDress: When she does wear Gothic clothing.
* PhysicalGod: First series.
* PowerGivesYouWings: Her wings turned huge and bright in episode 37 of ''Sunshine'' and in episode 51 of ''Kira Deco''.
* PurpleEyes: Made of opals.
* TheReliableOne: ''Sunshine''. Despite her shyness, she's more attentive to her class' needs than her superior.
* RichBitch: ''Kira Deco''.
* RivalTurnedEvil: ''Kira Deco''. She starts out as a petty rival, but quickly joins the Decoranain.
* RevengeBeforeReason: ''Kira Deco''.
* ShrinkingViolet: ''Sunshine''.
* SuddenlyVoiced: At her debut in episode 26 of the first series, she merely neighs. She starts talking in her next appearance, [[RetCon to no one's surprise]], strangely.
* TakingTheBullet: ''Twinkle'', shields Akari and Ruby from Alma's attack, resulting in her death.
* TerribleTrio: With Coal and Io in ''Kira Deco''.
* ThisIsADrill: Episode 16 of ''Sunshine''.
* TokenGoodTeammate: To Alma and Diana.
* TookALevelInJerkass: Experiences a huge personality whiplash from her demure portrayal in ''Sunshine'' to her AlphaBitch personality in ''Kira Deco''. ''Happiness'' tones her down a little.
* {{Tsundere}}: ''Kira Deco'', type A. She's mean to just about everyone, with Coal and occasionally Io as the exception.
* UnknownRival: ''Kira Deco''. Ruby has no interest in a mutually antagonistic relationship with Opal and has tried to apologize several times for insulting her horn, but Opal simply can't let it go.
* VerbalTic: "-tara~!" in ''Kira Deco'', translated as "oh my~" or "my gosh!" in fansubs.
* WalkingTheEarth: [[spoiler:Ending of ''Twinkle''.]]
* WeHardlyKnewYe: ''Twinkle''. She appears for the first time in episode 24 and gets killed off 2 episodes later, [[spoiler:though she does come back to life at the very end of the series.]]
* WingedUnicorn
* TheWorfEffect: First series, where she got played up as Jewelpet Jesus, yet couldn't leave a dent in Dark Dian.
* [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair You Gotta Have Lavender Fur and Purple Mane]]

!!Yuku
!!!Voiced by: Hitomi Yoshida
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/5247b920_5731.jpg
The Jewelpet of Knowledge, Yuku is a tricolor beagle who wears a blue beret and a light blue bow tie. His birthday is on November 3 and his name is based on the mineral euclase.

Debuting in episode 17 of the first series, he's awakened in the prime minister's office by the combined efforts of Rinko and co. when they were tasked with figuring out Diana's whereabouts. Due to his lack of talent at magic (Acrylic Class), Yuku is rather prideful and reluctant to help anyone. He compensates for it by being extremely intelligent and hard-working. Since he's practically incapable of using magic, he relies exclusively on his deducting prowess, which eventually allows Diana's headquarters to be found (though to little avail as she simply teleports herself and her house away).

In ''Twinkle'', he appears on the Jewel Star Grand Prix along with his partner [[OneSceneWonder Gunho]], and they lose to Akari and Ruby.

In ''Sunshine'', episode 26, Ruby went to a group date and noticed him drawing. Yuku asks her to pretend to marry him to make his foster parents happy. She later tells him off for this and beats him up, [[SlapSlapKiss making him fall for her]].

In ''Kira Deco'', he is part of a trio of ninjas with Nix and Chite. They've been watching over the Kira Deco 5's actions since the start but have never been noticed by anyone, which frustrates them.
----
* AloofAlly: First series, at first.

The Jewelpet of Calm Relief, Aqua is a clownfish who wears a chain of blue jewels on his head. His birthday is on March 26 and his name is based on the jewel aquamarine. He's the only fish Jewelpet.

Debuts in episode 21 of the first series, where he's bonded with Naoto Sakuragi. He has a sagely countenance and tries to advise Naoto in every way he can. However, he hates being called a goldfish and goes berserk when he's called one, growing bigger in size. He can fly without the aid of a broom.

In ''Twinkle'', he's the guardian of the seas surrounding Jewel Land and appears in only one episode. His temper is as nasty as ever.

In ''Sunshine'', he's the Jewelpet partner of Fukaet, the princess of an underwater kingdom.
----
* BerserkButton: A RunningGag in the first series. "[[IAmNotWeasel I Am Not Goldfish!]]"
* EraSpecificPersonality: He behaves more youthfully in later seasons, whereas in the first series he seems to have the personality of a wise old man. In ''Kira Deco'' and ''Happiness'' he is much calmer, but then again, no one calls him "goldfish".

* HairTriggerTemper: Ironic, considering what he symbolizes.
* {{Irony}}: Of the blackest sort. In the first series, he's the partner... OF A SUSHI CHEF. WHAT.

!!King
!!!Voiced by: Creator/HidenobuKiuchi
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/king_sunshine_536.jpg
The Jewelpet of Health, King is a pink French bulldog who wears a gold crown and a necklace shaped like a black club (as in, the card suit). His birthday is on August 10. He's the only Jewelpet whose name isn't based on its jewel, onyx.

In the first series, he's awakened by Hattori in episode 7, when Diana's curse causes him to fall ill. Because of his Acrylic Class rank, his healing power is very painful to those who go through it, but Hattori is strong enough to manage. Later, he reveals that he's in search of Lapis, who he's in love with. When it turns out she's under Dian's possession, he half-heartedly joins him to be with her.

In an episode of ''Twinkle'', Ruby dresses up as King to pass for male and to try to become Nicola's partner. King himself appeared on episode 43 as one of the judges of the Jewel Star Grand Prix.

In ''Sunshine'', he's a small-time villain of sorts and appears alongside Brownie and Alex, who function as his lackeys.

In ''Kira Deco'', he is a ConMan selling items made of jewels which he claims to have magical properties. Using the feud between Pink and Ruby to his advantage, he convinces Ruby to give him the Deco Stones in exchange for his items. Though at the start he cares little for Ruby and Pink's relationship, Ruby's determination ends up touching his heart and he gives her some advice (masked as a 'jewel of courage') for free. However that doesn't stop him from getting arrested and giving back the Deco Stones.

!!Diana
!!!Voiced by: Creator/RumiShishido
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Diana_Jewelpet_4940.jpg
The Jewelpet of Charisma, Diana is a black munchkin cat with white paws. She wears a lace-trimmed pink waistcoat, a pink bow, and a silver heart-shaped necklace. Her birthday is on April 20. Her name is based on diamond.

In the first series, she's the first real villain that Rinko has to contend with, as she's the one responsible for casting the curses starting in episode 4; through them, she hopes to awaken and capture Jewelpets. In episode 19, it is revealed that she was awakened during the events of episode 2 by taking in Rinko's magic. She is ''technically'' bonded to Sage, but treats the Phantom Herb Thieves as nothing more than disposable lackeys; they follow her anyways because of her promises of a better life for them. Later, it is revealed that her purpose is to awaken her brother Dian, which she achieves in episode 33. She gets relegated to second-in-command from there on. She hates any girl who becomes too close to Dian, and her jealousy often interferes in his plans.

In ''Twinkle'', she is Alma's partner, and they are the main villains of the season. She is very playful and enjoys cruel pranks, while boasting about how powerful she and her partner are compared to everyone else.

In ''Sunshine'', she is a student from the Rose class and Garnet's rival. She is the idol of her class and looks down on the Plum section like nobody else. She once dated Dian and managed to get back with him after much drama involving Garnet.

She primarily functions as a gag character in ''Kira Deco''. She wears a bald wig, never speaks, and characters keep running into her in odd situations. Debuting in episode 33 of the first series, he's the main villain of the season. In ancient times, because he thought the humans were taking advantage of the Jewelpets' powers, he lead a rebellion against the Four Great Magicians, who put a stop to it and sealed him in an iceberg on Earth. After Diana unseals him, he decides to take revenge against those who did him wrong and to try and conquer both worlds. He corrupts eight powerful Jewelpets, the Jewel Eight, and challenges Rinko to the Jewel Games, betting the Jewelpets he corrupted against Rinko herself. He desires the Jewel Stick; however, only Rinko can make use of its power. When this doesn't go as planned, he resorts to turning into Rinko's dream PrinceCharming in an attempt to seduce her.

He gets healed after confronting what he saw again.

In ''Sunshine'', he is in the Rose class and is a TV star. In episode 25, he noticed Garnet when she helped him mend his outfit for one of his gigs and they started dating. However, Diana, his former girlfriend, was still in love with him, and fought with Garnet over him. Garnet ended up giving up on him for Diana's sake, though he did inspire her to try harder to chase her dream of being a star. He appears a couple of times afterwards, with Diana.

In ''Kira Deco'', Dian is a member of the Decoranian's Four Heavenly Kings, the highest ranking agents employed by the Dark General. !!Coal
!!!Voiced by: Creator/YojiUeda
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/coal_6523.jpg
The Jewelpet of Endurance, Coal is an ash brown capybara with brown paws who wears a jewel necklace resembling buddhist prayer beads. His birthday is in September 6 and his name is based on the sedimentary rock coal.

Coal is an assassin who first appears at the end of episode 2 of ''Kira Deco'', working with the organization called Decoranain, the group responsible for plunging the human world into darkness using Dark Magic. He is bossy, very boastful and impatient, though he tries to keep up a cool front around his subordinates Opal and Io. His goal is to find the Deco Stones and give them to his shrouded master while making sure the Kira Deco 5 are out of the way. He and his lackeys get beaten every episode.
----
* AccidentalKiss: With a male-identifying Deco Stone in one episode, causing it to start a tornado that seperates everyone.
* AmbiguouslyGay: As Coarumi, he doesn't do anything to stop Jewelpets from fawning over him and even seems to encourage them on some occasions (as when he went to buy lingerie with Io). That said, the whole thing could just be to make his guise more convincing, hence the ambiguity.
* {{Antagonist}}: ''Kira Deco''.
* AntiVillain
* ArtisticLicenseBiology: Capybaras don't have stump-like limbs.
* AttractiveBentGender: Coarumi is regarded as extremely sexy in-universe.
* BecomingTheMask: Subverted. Coal gets dispatched by the Dark General to be in a relatively close position to the main cast so he can spy and sabotage them. In episode 10, Coal nearly becomes friends with them, however the Dark General tells him that they're just tricking him.
* BigBeautifulWoman: Coarumi's intended effect.
* {{Bishonen}}: When he impersonates the guy Pink wants to be friends with in episode 15 just to get the Deco Stones.
* BlushSticker: Part of his design.
* CardCarryingVillain: Wants to "drown everything in darkness", though he does call Ruby and Pink [[HypocriticalHumor "devilish"]] when he thinks they've tricked him.
* CastingAShadow: His dark clouds.
* TheChewToy: ''Kira Deco''.
* TheCorrupter: He convinces Opal to join Decoranain by promising to make Ruby pay for what she did to her.
* CreepyCrossdresser: ''Kira Deco''. Starting in episode 10, he disguises himself as [[http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/coarumi_1730.jpg Coarumi]] to get close to the main cast, as they have realized Coal's true nature earlier in the same episode.
* DarkIsEvil
* DespairEventHorizon: [[spoiler:Falls into depression after learning of his true origins in episode 45 (he wasn't created from coal, but from tar) and decides that he needs to go someplace far away from the Decoranain.]]
* DisguisedInDrag: ''Kira Deco'', after revealing his affiliation to the Decoranian.
* DisneyDeath
* TheDragon: To the Dark General.
* DubNameChange: Coarumi is known as Coalina in European dubs.
* [[EvenBadMenLoveTheirMamas Even Bad Men Love Their Papas]]: He loves the Dark General dearly for raising him.
* EvilWearsBlack: Everything he wears or uses in ''Kira Deco'' is black, which is why Opal finds him so cool.
* FakeBoobs: Coal wears some very prominent ones as Coarumi.
** GagBoobs[=/=]{{Gainaxing}}
* FatBastard
* FateWorseThanDeath: Being sent to a beach resort ("Blue sky and ocean, lots of people, the sun shining... THERE IS NO SHADE!").
* FlyingOnACloud: His means of transportation in ''Kira Deco'' is a black cloud with its sides shaped like wings.
* ForeheadOfDoom: His eyes are settled relatively low compared to others pets, resulting in this. Occasionaly it shines even though it's covered in fur.
* FriendlyEnemy: ''Kira Deco'', especially as Coarumi.
* {{GIRL}}: Kurotenshi in "Yami Quest".
* AGlassOfChianti: ''Kira Deco''.
* HarmlessVillain: ''Kira Deco''. He rarely manages to do any relevant damage to the heroes, and sometimes they even think he's actually helping them; Ruby calls him "our guardian angel" in an early episode.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:In episode 51, he decides to sacrifice himself for the sake of his students and throws himself at the Dark General, who turns him into a lump of diamond.]]
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: He accidentaly casts his dark clouds on himself in episode 10, needing the main cast to cheer him up and almost causing him to HeelFaceTurn.
* HollywoodToneDeaf: Awful at karaoke.
* IAmNotWeasel: No, he's not a hippo, as some characters seem to take him for.
* IllNeverTellYouWhatImTellingYou: Reveals to Pink and Ruby that the Deco Stones and the Mirror Ball shards are the same in this way.
* InTouchWithHisFeminineSide
* {{Kevlard}}: The fattest-looking Jewelpet has the power of Endurance (although it's likely meant to be in the psychological sense).
* LovesMyAlterEgo: Io crushes on Coarumi while disliking and distrusting Coal.
* MasterOfIllusion: In episode 16, he recreates Pink's city in the human world and turns into her ex-boyfriend with his powers.
* MeaningfulName: His "Yami Quest" name, [[spoiler:Kurotenshi]] translates to Black Angel.
* NecktieHeadband: Wears it in episode 30 of ''Kira Deco''.
* OminousOperaCape: Sometimes in ''Kira Deco''.
* PaleFemalesDarkMales: His Kurotenshi gaming persona has a paler body than him, and her eyes are purple instead of black/violet.
* ThePawn
* PersonalRaincloud: ''Kira Deco'', inverted. ''He'' creates the dark clouds which he uses to make people depressed.
* PetTheDog: He's actually pretty kind to his students as Coarumi.
* RedBaron: Black Angel.
* SeldomSeenSpecies: You've probably never heard of the capybara before reading this.
* SenseiChan: Coarumi is treated with a lot of informality by her students, though she still acts more mature than the usual for this trope.
* SlasherSmile
* SlouchOfVillainy: ''Kira Deco'', likes to sit on a black couch.
* SoBeautifulItsACurse: Coarumi goes on one of these tirades when (s)he causes strife between Opal and Io.
* SomethingAboutARose: He's seen holding and throwing a black rose when casting his spells.
* SternTeacher: Plays the part in episode 6 of ''Kira Deco''. He seems to forget what he was planning to do with this disguise, though.
* TerribleTrio: With Opal and Io in ''Kira Deco''.
* ThrowTheDogABone: Coal spends most of ''Kira Deco'' being humiliated by his higher ranked coworkers and the Kira Deco 5, and at some point gets his Jewel Pad turned into toilet paper. In episode 42, he actually gets a Deco Stone and is praised by the Dark General. Unfortunately for him, in the very next episode the General decides to puppy-kick him.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Fried egg on rice.
* {{Transsexual}}: Implied. When he plays "Yami Quest" and is requested to choose the gender of his character, he says "I'll play as the girl, ''of course''".
* TwinkleInTheSky: And it's black (purplish-black, whatever).
* UnsettlingGenderReveal: Poor Io.
* VerbalTic: ''-yami!'' ('yami' means 'darkness')
** When he's feeling less villain-y, it can become "shine~", like when he makes friends with the main cast.
* VictoriasSecretCompartment: Sometimes takes stuff out from between his boobs.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: Downplayed. [[spoiler:Gets fired from the Decoranain in episode 43.]]

In the first series, Ruby is a Jewelpet with the Acrylic Class ranking because her magic only has a 1% chance of success. Due to her bad behavior and goofing off in class, she was punished by the Four Great Magicians of Jewel Land, turning her into a Jewel Charm and sending her to Earth with the mission to find her lost friends. Her Jewel Charm form fell into Rinko's drinking glass that night and was awakened by Rinko's magic using the Jewel Pocketbook the next day. Her personality is joyful, brash, happy and she's sometimes a troublemaker, which gives her partner Rinko a hard time. Despite this, she and Rinko get appointed to find the other missing Jewelpets on Earth and to handle every problem they encounter. She has a crush on Tour.

She also has a crush on Tour here, but it's not addressed by the plot.

In ''Sunshine'', she's a student of Jewel Land's Sunshine Academy and Kanon's roommate, with whom she has trouble getting along. She has a huge crush on Mikage, which inflames her disagreements with Kanon even more. Tour is also in love with her in this season.
