* TookALevelInKindness: Implied in "New Best Friends". Piggley says at the end of the episode that he is going to give Hector a call. This implies that Hector has shed at least a good part of his bad qualities.

This spirited eight-year-old pig is our hero and the unofficial leader of the youngsters in and around the village of Tara. He's a spunky, creative, imaginative rascal, with a streak of mischief running through his veins and a definite gift of the gab. His favorite activity is going on adventures (don't ask him to sit still!) with his two best friends, Ferny and Dannan.

* BrilliantButLazy: He's very talented in a lot of areas but does not seem to like schoolwork, often slacking off and sometimes getting low grades due to not studying enough. According to Mr. Hornsby, Piggley is perfectly capable of doing schoolwork if he puts his all into it, but due to his general laziness, he often doesn't show his potential.

** Piggley may accidentally hurt his friends or family's feelings, due to sometimes being oblivious.
** An example is in "The Legend of Raloo", where Piggley wanted Ferny to act out as a bad guy during their crusade because of his Spanish heritage, unaware that he offended Ferny.
* MrImagination: Piggley is known to have a very active imagination, which is helpful for writing stories. In his senior years, he still carries this trait, though he only uses it to push his narrative when exaggerating what happens in his backstories.

* NiceGuy: Despite his JerkassBall moments, he's very humble, friendly and caring to his friends and family.

* WithFriendsLikeThese: His friends abandoned him in "Teacher Creature", after their teacher Mr Hornsby arrives at the Winks household.

Piggley's independent, plucky, adorable five-year old sister, Molly is always ready at a moment's notice to get in there and play with the big kids. In fact, she's annoyed that she's not old enough to go to school yet. When the other kids aren't around, Molly is content to entertain herself using her imagination.

* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: Molly can sometimes annoy her older brother, Piggley. Usually by accidentally getting in her brother's way or pestering him, though it's mostly unintentional.

* ChildrenAreTenderHearted: While only very young, Molly is very caring towards Sweets, her pet fawn.

* TagalongKid: On a few occasions, she would be accompanying her older brother Piggley and his friends on their adventures.

* BigEater: According to both Piggley and Dannan, he eats ''six eggs, fried spots, soda bread with marmalade, fruit, kippers, beans, mushrooms, porridge and milk'' everyday. And that's just his ''breakfast''!
* BreakTheCutie: In "Picture Perfect", he becomes extremely hurt and upset after a humiliating photo of him is shown to the public.
* CheerfulChild: He's the most upbeat and cheerful character in the series, very little can put down his mood.

* LovableCoward: He's very friendly but also easy to frighten and is usually reluctant to dangerous situations.

* SmarterThanTheyLook: Despite his general naivety and being a bit of a {{Cloudcuckoolander}}, he has no problem with general schoolwork. He was the first one to finish off his big test with no issue in "Salmon of Knowledge" (despite studying less than [[TheSmartGirl Dannan]]) and still ended up getting an A. He's also knowledgable about Spanish culture.

* TheBlacksmith: He's the local blacksmith.
* GentleGiant: He may look a bit intimidating but he's the nicest guy you'll ever meet who would never lay a finger on anyone.
* NiceGuy: Much like his son, he's very friendly to everyone and is rarely ever seen unhappy or angry. Unlike his son though, he won't let others take advantage of his kindness.

* DependingOnTheWriter: She's sometimes portrayed as being much saner and smarter than her trio of friends, whilst other episodes show her acting just as carefree as them.
* OnlySaneWoman: She's the only to show a reasonable level of scepticism, whenever Piggley and/or Ferny brings up something out of the ordinary or when they come up with odd solutions to their problems.

* WellDoneDaughterGirl: Well, granddaughter. In "Dannan Does a Jig", she really wanted to impress her grandmother with her dancing skills and fears embarrassing her.

* HiddenDepths: Some episodes reveal that he isn't just a teacher, he also has hobbies such as reading stories and cooking.

* FriendToAllLivingThings: Underneath that mean exterior, is a boy who loves animals. He's very caring to animals such as lambs and deers.
