* IronWoobie: The guy's lost his entire family in one day, had to raise himself from ten years old because his carer was so BrilliantButLazy, faced crisis after crisis in leadership, was forced to kill at least one of the [[PoweredByAForsakenChild fallen humans]] simply to survive, and barely rescued his species from extinction twice at the hands of the same nation ''twice.'' [[FromBadToWorse If that wasn't bad enough,]] he's been forced to mobilise for yet another war that threatens to do the same. The fact he's remained intact through all of this more than earns the [[OneHundredPercentAdorationRating awe and adoration of his people]] - [[LonelyAtTheTop which in fact is part of the problem.]]

While likely not having [[LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters THAT many]] characters, there's still quite a few to keep track of.

The once-kingdom of monsters located underneath Mount Ebott, after integrating the remnants of [[Videogame/HalfLife Black Mesa]] into itself became a technological giant and fearing American reprisal for poaching one of their best contractors a massive fortress as well. Following a short but brutal war between the two nations, Ebott finally fully broke away from under the thumb of [[[SoiledCityOnAHill Capitol Hill]] and has been preparing for America's revenge ever since, their leader [[JustTheFirstCitizen Director]] [[FisherKing Asriel]] convinced they'll attack [[WhyIsntItAttacking aaaany day now...]]

* AHeroToHisHometown: DownplayedTrope. While his DownToEarth attitudes towards meme culture and steadfast adherence to statesmanship rather than decay into a CorruptPolitician endear him effectively totally to Ebottonia, his incessant derision of the USA and unfiltered callouts of practically every major power's atrocities through history have divided global opinion between those infuriated by his insensitivity and those who [[CulturalCringe agree with what he has to say]].

* SomebodyDoesntLoveRaymond: Administrator [[Videogame/HalfLife Wallace Breen]] is less than fond of the monstrous giant, both from his sheer brutality at times and the [[BeleagueredBureaucrat amount of paperwork]] [[KickedUpstairs keeping him out of politics]]. Toriel Dreemurr still [[ThickerThanWater ''loves'' her son despite everything]], but remains one of his most vocal critics despite - [[ApeShallNotKillApe or perhaps because of]] - this.

* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: As is custom with all boss monsters, Asriel is much stronger than anyone else in Ebottonia
* AChildShallLeadThem: With his father Asgore lynched by the mob that in the original game [[ItWasHisSled killed Asriel instead]] and his mother either [[DirtyCoward abandoning the kingdom in it's hour of need]] or fleeing persecution from her own son [[RashomonStyle depending on who you ask]], little Asriel was crowned [[EthnicityMonarch King of the Monsters]] at just ten years old. He's been in charge ever since.

* NervousWreck: Pretty much everything terrifies the [[TheWoobie poor girl]], given that where she's from she's considered [[SlaveRace property]] used to adorn one's home. She can barely speak when shown to the UN as proof of the invasion, and when Asriel tells her she needs to [[TrainingThePeacefulVillagers learn to fight]] she starts glitching out.

* AsskickingEqualsAuthority: Make no mistake, Undyne is just as proficient a combatant as she was as Captain of the Royal Guard even with her much larger and more modern army
