** Another example would be Alucard's opinions of Monsters and Humans. He expressed rage at the idea that [[ThePaladin Anderson]] would become a Monster with Helena's Nail to finally have enough power to kill him, but Anderson only did this because Alucard had a clear, completely unfair advantage and was hiding behind a literal wall of his familiars. Given that Alucard has reacted with glee to the idea of fighting an equal before, it seems less like a respect for the human spirit and more like he was angry that someone more powerful than him had come into existence.

* {{Alucard}}: [[CaptainObvious Um]]. In any case, it's said that this was just a name given to him by the Hellsing Organization's former leader, Arthur Hellsing. Not to mention, he likes it because it helps separate him from his past as Count Dracula.

* AnimalMotifs: Bats, of course, but also and especially dogs. Baskerville Hound aside, he refers even to ''himself'' as a dog (something of which he's completely unashamed) and people tell him he's "domesticated" and "housebroken". He has dog-like teeth. He has a master to whom he's [[UndyingLoyalty totally loyal]]. He attacks on command. He likes to [[BloodKnight play]]. He licks things. He even grabs and catches things in his mouth and attacks by biting as often as shooting.

** The original anime adaptation suggested that Integra is Anglo-Indian through a photo her father Arthur had on his desk, showing an infant Integra being held by her mother, a very tan woman dressed in a sari (a female garment consisting of a long drape famously associated with women of the Indian subcontinent.) It's unknown if this applies to the original though.

* DescriptionCut: During WWII, Arthur confidently assures [[SpellMyNameWithAnS Sir Irons/Islands]] that BattleButler Walter is one of the finest vampire hunters in the world, despite being JustAKid, and there is no way he can fail. Back in Warsaw, [[spoiler: Walter is being strangled to death by the Captain, and is only saved at the last minute by Alucard.]]

* HiddenDepths: Beyond the BunnyEarsLawyer, he was the one who ended up realizing a powerful truth about Alucard, something he told to Integra (and Walter who was also there.) He described to Integra his own views on immortal monsters like Alucard. Given how many people view Alucard, both working with him and against him, it says alot how he was able to look past the layers of violence, especially since Integra also believes in it and given Alucard's behavior and thoughts (and extending to other immortals like the Captain of Millennium), Arthur appears to be right in viewing the immortal monsters as deep down being "frail, sobbing children."

* AmbiguouslyBrown: Seems to be a tanner shade than the rest of the English characters, though this is never explained. The original anime adaptation suggested that Integra's mother was Indian, but whether or not this stands up in the context of actual Hellsing canon is debatable.

* Asexuality: While she never outwardly dismisses sex or relationships, she's so stern, serious, and consumed by her job that she seems to have no time for them. She is also 22 and still a virgin, and never seems sexually frustrated or embarrassed by the fact, nor seems to care much for interpersonal relationships anyways, at least on the surface. [[spoiler: Even in the time skip, she has no children (possibly to end the inheritance of titles and positions of power) and apparently has remained virginal, though the latter is never explicitly stated.]]

He resembles the first in his vampire hunter job, his broad-brimmed hat and coat, his immense power, his ability to manifest other beings in the form of extra faces in their bodies, and his name lampshading their relation to the Dracula myth; for the second, he takes from him the red of his coat, his yellow round-framed sunglasses, his eccentricity, his big gun, and the fact that he keeps suppressed his true power.

* BlackMagic: Would the Devil himself use anything else?

* BloodLust: Oh '''''yes'''''. He would bathe in the stuff if he could. ''He drinks the blood of every dead person in London.''
* BloodMagic: He can use it for other stuff, too. Like summoning familiars. But mostly as a weapon.
* BloodyMurder: Alucard practically puts his blood through gymnastics using it as a weapon.

* CastingAShadow: He can manipulate shadows, regenerating from them.

* CombatPragmatist: Sort of. He doesn't need guns, but he likes using them, and if he feels you're a worthy opponent, he'll still fight dirty.

* LoveInterest: For Seras, whom he receives ship tease with.

* DiscardAndDraw: Thanks to Schrödinger nearly erasing him from existence and leaving him incorporeal for ''three decades'', Alucard had to dispose of the millions of potential familiars he had until only Schrödinger was left. He likely can't contain and release entire armies of undead anymore (though he could potentially collect more), but on the other hand, he now has Schrödinger's power of 'being everywhere and nowhere.' He lacks his hundreds of thousands of souls, but has become the self-observing paradox that exists where and as he decides he does: 'I think, therefore I am.' While he is no longer ''literally'' a OneManArmy, he has become much more immortal and unlike his previous powers which made it difficult but not ''impossible'' to kill him, virtually nothing can hurt or kill him now.

* TheFettered: Though not unhappy about it. He proudly declares it when Integra gives the order to use his full powers.

* IHateYouVampireDad: Alucard receives this treatment from Seras sometimes and he doesn't improve this status until much later in the series either, mostly because he has a {{jerkass}} attitude and enjoys mocking and scaring her. It isn't until Seras begins to embrace her vampire self (while also retaining the best aspects of her human side) that master and apprentice come to truly appreciate and respect each other.

* InsultOfEndearment: "Police Girl" for Victoria, at first mocking, and later with respect and affection.

* MoralityPet: For all his faults, he really ''does'' care for [[InterplayOfSexAndViolence Integra]], [[IHateYouVampireDad Seras]], [[OddFriendship Walter,]] [[PetTheDog the queen]], and, in his own way, [[WorthyOpponent Anderson]]... but that's it.

* NinetiesAntiHero: A card-carrying example. He has a cool-sounding name, ridiculously over-sized pistols, has the hipster type appearance, and doesn't care about hurting people who get in his way.

* TheNotLoveInterest: As Girlycard, he fulfils this role to Walter in [[{{Prequel}} The Dawn]], for rather obvious reasons.

* VillainProtagonist: Not the villain of the story and overall [[TokenEvilTeammate set on the side of good]] but some of the things Alucard does are absolutely monstrous, such as callously (or worse, excitedly) killing his helpless enemies in horrific ways and is implied to sexually assault Rip van Winkle as he drinks her blood.
* VillainousBreakdown: Oh, he doesn't suffer one. He ''causes'' them. Until [[spoiler:Anderson's]] death. That said, it was much more of a TearJerker moment than anything, but regardless, he still ''did'' break down in tears. Hell, Alucard even gave him a ''genuine smile'' and respectful "Amen" right after he passed away.

* WickedCultured: He doesn't usually show it - presumably he doesn't feel like it - but it does tend to come out during unexpected moments.
* WildHair: Especially as [[spoiler:Dracula]].
* WillTheyOrWontThey: With Integra. It's left ambiguous.

* BlueBlood: Mansion, butler, wealth, fancy car, fencing lessons, swanky outfits, expensive cigarillos, and an inherited title. What else could she possibly be?

* TheButlerDidIt: [[spoiler:Turns out to be the traitor in Hellsing's ranks, who allowed the Valentine brothers to infiltrate Hellsing's HQ and basically facilitated the Major's master plan in every way, just to get his shot at taking down Alucard]].
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Gives one to Jan Valentine before bringing out his wires. [[spoiler:Gets a powerful one from Alucard at the end of volume/episode 9]].
* TrailersAlwaysSpoil: A victim of it, especially for those who have not read the manga. The initial trailer for the ''Ultimate'' [=OVA=] (the big one set to "Broken English") showed off a glimpse of [[spoiler:Walter as a vampire]]. Then, the credits for ''Ultimate'' 3 revealed [[spoiler:Walter amongst the Millenium commanders back in 1944]]. The trailer for ''Ultimate'' 8 also re-showed [[spoiler:Walter's rejuvenated vampire form]].

* MsFanservice: Occasionally her breasts and buttocks get more focus than necessary. It even gets [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] in-series. Though considering her design and compared to many other examples of this trope, she's pretty tame considering we don't see any scenes of her naked or undressed.
** Her first meeting with Sir Penwood in the OVA is a loose combination between AssKicksYou and CrashIntoHello, with emphasis on Seras' backside.

* NowThatsUsingYourTeeth: How she tears off [[spoiler:Zorin's arm]]. Also part of how [[spoiler:she kills the Captain, by immobilising him and keeping him within reach of the silver tooth]].

* SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan: Debatable in the manga how much or how long Seras likes Pip before [[spoiler: the attack on Hellsing HQ]], but the reader doesn't see them get along or learn of their feelings till after Pip reveals his HiddenHeartOfGold. It's heavily implied in the OVA though, particularly OVA 7's CreativeClosingCredits. A PhotoMontage reveals the two fought like cats and dogs until Pip made an effort to be polite with her in Rio de Janeiro. From then on, they got along much better and seemed to grow more respectful. Considering [[TheGadfly Pip]] usually started/escalated fights by [[BerserkButton pushing her buttons]], it's likely [[TheHeart Seras]] didn't come around until he TookALevelInKindness toward her. At the very least, his nobler qualities seem to be what attract her, not the "bad boy" mercenary persona.
** Kohta Hirano stated that if Seras wasn't a vampire and Pip wasn't a mercenary, "they would be the perfect couple, everyone would be envious of."

* TokenGoodTeammate: The only character that could be considered a full-on hero, even after [[spoiler:devouring Pip's blood and becoming a full-on vampire]], her niceness is absolutely impossible to debate.

* WellDoneSonGuy: A "Well Done Daughter" Girl version. Seems to be anxious to win Alucard's approval of her merits. [[spoiler:After killing Zorin, [[ILoveYouVampireSon she]] [[SoProudOfYou got]] [[PetTheDog just]] [[CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming that]].]]

* ADayInTheLimelight: Walter is the main character of ''[[{{Prequel}} The Dawn]]'', which focuses on the time Alucard and he spent fighting Millennium in WWII era Warsaw [[spoiler: and will almost certainly detail the circumstances of Walter's betrayal.]]

* AllForNothing: His laughter at [[spoiler:Alucard]]'s demise can only turn to bitter tears as he realizes that he had [[spoiler:sacrificed his entire life and betrayed Hellsing]] for nothing whatsoever; he failed to kill [[spoiler:Alucard]], let alone best him, and [[spoiler:the Major]] never even expected him to succeed.

* BadassGrandpa: Emphasis on the "Badass" part. 70 years old, and still quite capable of tearing you and your undead army some new orifices. He claims he's not as spry as he used to be... which makes you wonder what he was like when he was ''younger''. [[spoiler:Then he gets rejuvenated, losing the Grandpa part, and vampirised and keeps the Badass part.]]

* ChildSoldier: Walter was barely 14 years old when he fought against Millennium in WWII, cutting bloody swathes through Nazis and ghouls right alongside Hellsing's [[TheJuggernaut Juggernaut]], Alucard. And it's implied that he had been fighting vampires long beforehand. However, deconstructed in that he is psychologically vulnerable and physically outmatched by more experienced and powerful beings. The Captain easily overpowers him through sheer experience and physical might, and [[spoiler:the Major sways him over to his side with promises of power and approval]].

* CoolOldGuy: He may be 70+ years old but he sure can still rip you a new one.

** More specifically, Kohta Hirano stated that if Seras wasn't a vampire and Pip wasn't a mercenary, "they would be the perfect couple, everyone would be envious of." It's not exactly sure what it means though given Pip's childhood and what happened to his father, that couldbe a hint.

* HeyYou: Like Alucard and Integra before him, Pip refuses to call Seras by name, even after she corrects him. Only does so while giving her a RousingSpeech about avenging London, and after [[spoiler:successfully stealing a kiss]].

* LadykillerInLove: Has shades of this with Seras, especially with trying to steal kisses from her.
* LoveInterest: For Seras.

* SacrificialLion: We know him long enough that his death does a huge emotional number on everyone [[spoiler:and allows Seras to achieve her true vampire power. Subverted in that Pip's soul and consciousness survives within Seras' and he can be summoned as a familiar. ]]

* SmokingIsCool: Near every scene of his is having him smoke a cigarette. [[spoiler: Even after his soul becomes Seras' familiar. She tells him to refrain from smoking when he is stored inside her, he still does.]]

* [[WhenSheSmiles When He Smiles]]: While not unfriendly or bad-looking in his own right, the smile he gives after [[spoiler: successfully kissing Seras]] could melt a heart of iron.

* BadassGrandpa: He was in his old age when he defeated Dracula.

* OnlySaneMan: All things considered, Integra is the only character in this franchise who is, for the most part, a collected and ordinary being. [[BadassNormal She can still whip you a new one, though]].

* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: DoubleSubversion. She's physically the weakest member of the Hellsing Organization, but still a BadassNormal LadyOfWar.
