* ThirdPersonPerson

to:

* ThirdPersonPersonThirdPersonPerson: Always refers to herself in the third person as "this one"; this probably has to do with her upbringing by the Priests of Pama, an Oriental pacifistic sect of alien origin whose teachings bear a considerable similarity to real-life Eastern philosophy (which has referring to oneself in the third person as a common practice of "distancing oneself from the ego").

* AllForNothing: Vance volunteered for an experimental mission to Alpha Centuari, knowing full well it would take a thousand years. Over those thousand years he was sufficiently traumatised by the loneliness for his mutant powers to activate. On arrival at Alpha Centuari, it turned out mankind had beaten him there by a few hundred years thanks to technological advancements. Oops. And then the Badoon rolled through and nearly wiped out mankind altogether.

* {{Expy}}: In Vol 2, his story - military man with a shield found frozen in a block of ice who has to adjust to being in a different time, greatly resembles that of Steven Rodgers himself. Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon even comment on the similarity.
* FishOutOfTemporalWater: By a thousand years. His vol 2 version takes this in an odd way, a man from a thousand years into the future sent back.

* NeverTheSelvesShallMeet: Vance actually did meet his younger self, helping to make sure he'd develop his mutant powers early, and never go through the hellish experiences Vance did.

* OlderAndWiser: Than his mainstream counterpart Vance Astrovik (Justice of the New Warriors).

* OnlyYouCanRepopulateMyRace: Eventually, Yondu finds another Alpha Centaurian who survived the Badoon attacks, and declares this means they must do what they can to restore their people. Said Alpha Centaurian is not remotely taken with this, especially since she ''despised'' her people.

* BaldOfAwesome

to:

* BaldOfAwesomeBaldOfAwesome: Arthur Douglas' hair was one of the things left out when he was brought back as Drax.

* {{Determinator}}: During ''Annihilation'', his drive to kill Thanos ramps up into overdrive. In order to accomplish it, Drax storms through the nigh-unstoppable Annihilation Wave, with nothing more than a pair of knives, and he still makes it to Thanos.

* GoodIsNotNice: Drax is the champion of Life, opposed to Thanos. He's also brusque, and perhaps too fond of violent and direct solutions.
