Based on interviews, the creators and Max Adler have specified that Mr. Karofsky isn\'t homophobic; it\'s the homophobes at school who are the reason he hides. Again, speaking as a bisexual whose parents are 100% tolerant but whose schoolmates were not, trust me that this is Truth In Television.
