* OedipusComplex: Ever since he was a child, Kamui harbored an intense attachment to his mother and gradually grew to resent his father for leaving for long periods of time while his mother was sick. After he found out [[spoiler:his mother was dying because his father took her away from her home planet]], Kamui's resentment towards his father turned into hatred. This culminated in Kamui attempting to kill Umibouzu [[spoiler:so he could take his mother back to her home planet in hopes it would save her life]]. Years after his mother's death, Kamui still hasn't gotten over it and his main goal is to one day murder his father.

* KickTheDog: His casual murder of a Hyakka who'd lost all the will to fight after he slaughtered her comrades serves as a good reminder that despite helping Seita out, he is ''not'' a good person. He also later tries to shoot Princess Soyo (a non-combatant) solely because he felt she was in the way of a duel with Okita.

* SlasherSmile: Whenever he's especially excited about fighting a strong opponent. And it was showed in chapter 587, [[spoiler: that it ''became worse'' because he was passing through a VillainousBreakdown]].

* NiceJobFixingItVillain: Hankai's speech towards Nobunobu actually backfires, as it strengthens his resolve and causes him pull Hankei of his body despite the pain. This allows Sakamoto to shoot him with his defenses down.

Leader of the 4th division, Shoukaku is one of the Three Mad Stars alongside Batou and Hankei, with the nickname Neptune.

* SpiderTank: During the Battle on Rakuyo, the Harusame use several tanks with long legs, capable of jumping around the battlefield and armed with a powerful cannon.

Leader of the 2nd division, Batou is the best swordsman in the Harusame. Alongside Shoukaku and Hankei he forms the Three Wicked Stars, a trio of the most dreaded criminals in the Harusame, among which he holds the nickname Pluto. He used to be a mercenary and fought in the Amanto War on Earth, where he encountered but failed to kill Gintoki.

Leader of the 3rd division, Hankei is one of the Three Wicked Stars alongside Batou and Shoukaku, with the nickname Uranus. Unlike the rest of the Harusame pirates, Hankei has no members in his division, instead making use of nanomachines to take control of the enemy.

* NiceJobFixingItVillain: Hankei's speech towards Nobunobu actually backfires, as it strengthens his resolve and causes him pull Hankei of his body despite the pain. This allows Sakamoto to shoot him with his defenses down.

* TheVirus: Hankei takes over the Kaientai with his nanomachines spreading from person to person.

* WorthyOpponent: Ends up really respecting Katsura during their fight.

* LaserGuidedKarma: Gintoki specifically targets and injures his right hand as karma for how [[spoiler:he severely injured Sakamoto and crippled his right hand, ending his career as a swordsman.]]

* ArtificialLimbs: He's acquired an artificial left arm to replace the one he lost, though it ends up getting blown to pieces. He's... not particularly happy about it.
