* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Played straight with her daughter, Angela, whose safety is the only thing she considers a higher priority than her overwhelming desire for the destruction of humanity. It's sadly twisted if not outright subverted with Goliath, as while she does have some feelings for him (according to Puck), she is more than willing to kill him for opposing her fanatical goals. Demona does genuinely fall in love with Thailog - only for him to try to kill Angela and create a clone of her and Elisa Masa named Delilah to replace her.

* UngratefulBastard: When Kenneth overthrew Constantine's father Cullen, he attempted to break the cycle of violence between their families by acknowledging that the then-infant Constantine had no part in his father's tyranny and having him raised in his court alongside his own son and nephew. Even well into his adulthood Kenneth thought well of Constantine and defended him against Maol Chalvim's suspicions. Constantine repaid him by murdering him, seizing the crown for himself, and attempting to wipe out his entire family line.

* AccidentallyAccurate: Regarding Rosaria Sanchez and Peter Choy; he correctly deduced that they were in a secret romantic relationship, but came to this conclusion through the belief that two teenage relatives of separate crime bosses just happening to be in Central Park at the same time during the incident where they saved a boy from drowning was too big a coincidence. As the two explain after being kidnapped, it ''was'' in fact a total coincidence, and was actually how they met and fell in love. [[ActuallyPrettyFunny Dino gets a good laugh at that.]]

* ComplexityAddiction: The guy's a brilliant schemer and the defining master of the XanatosGambit. And he knows it, which means that he often engages in complicated schemes when something straightforward would do the job better. This notably comes back to bite him during "The Gathering" two parter, for despite all his scheming and planning, he literally has no allies to rely on during his darkest hour.

** He performs this to ludicrous degrees at times, like how he used TimeTravel to ensure his riches.
** His tendency to do this backfires in "Double Jeopardy", when Sevarius admits to following all of "Xanatos'" (really Thailog's) commands to the letter, thinking it was part of one of his usual complex schemes and didn't request clarification.

A historical king of Scotland, portrayed here as an usurper to the throne and a cunning manipulator. He was the catalyst to Princess Katharine, the Magus and Tom fleeing to Avalon with the Wyvern gargoyle eggs. The comic continuation shows him forming a twisted sort of father-son relationship with young Gillecomgain and designing the emblem of the Hunters.

* ScatterbrainedSenior: Deliberately invoked. In the comics he pretends to suffer from dementia to secure an early prison release, as well as to make sure the dangerous Dino doesn't see him as a threat.

* MadScientist: And he is damn proud of it. The Mutates and Wolf's upgrade were his work.

* OedipusComplex: He tries to kill Goliath (his father), had a relationship with Demona (said father's ex-wife), and even created a hybrid clone of his father's two love interests Demona and Elisa when he tired of Demona.

* UnskilledButStrong: It's quite apparent that despite 1000 years of experience, Demona really isn't that capable in a fight. She heavily relies on heavy weapony or sorcerty to be a potent threat. Case in point, when she has to fight Elisa on equal terms, in both occasions Demona is on the losing end of the fight.

* ComplexityAddiction: The guy's a brilliant schemer and the defining master of the XanatosGambit. And he knows it, which means that he often engages in complicated schemes when something straightforward would do the job better.

* EvilTwin: Obviously. However, what sets Thailog apart is that he is the evil twin to both Goliath ''and'' Xanatos. While he has Goliath's strength, he has none of his compassion or nobility... or combat prowress. And while he is as smart as Xanatos, he also lacks ''his'' more nobler qualities as well. Unlike Xanatos, Thailog has no interest in fighting fair, and is happy to engage in revenge for the sake of it.

* BrokenAce: She's beautiful, intelligent, physically powerful, proficient in magic, as well as immortal. Yet despite all of these attributes, she's still held back from achieving her goals by self-destructive nature and her inability to accept responsibility for her actions. This eventually takes its toll on her mental stability preventing her from experiencing the peace of mind she desperately craves.

** While Demona has repeatedly declared herself to despise all of humanity, she is by far the most human like of all the gargoyles encountered. Barring the spell that turns her into a human during the day, she is the more aclimated to human society, is more familiar with their technology, expresses human values such as vengeance and bigotry, and values aspect like money and possessions with other clans do not possess.

* TheRival: Demona see's Elisa as this. Oddly enough, whenever the two women are on even ground- by Elisa becoming a gargoyle or Demonca becoming a human- Elisa is her clear superior in combat.

* {{Hypocrite}}: Given that the modern Hunters have little but FantasticRacism as a motive, they're really just as bad as Demona.

* CycleOfRevenge: Related to MotiveDecay below, this is what keeps the feud going. The pattern appears to be "Hunter finds Demona, Demona either escapes or ''murders'' the Hunter, surviving family members swear revenge" on and on. This is absolutely the case for the modern Hunters of Robyn, John and Jason.

* DramaticIrony: The Hunters know that Demona is immortal, but they don't know the details of her immortality, and thus don't realize that she can only be killed by Macbeth. Thus they are doomed to fail in their eternal vendetta.

* TheFamilyThatSlaysTogether: The Canmores became this with whole generations training for ''nothing'' but Demona's death. According to the ''Bad Guys'' comic SpinOff, some still are.
