* BookDumb: She doesn't know the plot of ''Literature/WutheringHeights'' or who was the enemy in UsefulNotes/WorldWarOne (though neither did some of the others). She even actually ''believes'' Phoebe when she sarcastically says that the plot of ''Literature/JaneEyre'' involves cyborgs. She didn't seem to have any trouble with ''LittleWomen'' though.

Added DiffLines:

* NoRespectGuy: Despite being the most accomplished and successful member of the group, there is not a single moment in the entire series where the characters treat his (high-paying and well-respected) profession with anything other than mocking and derision. Granted, he ''is'' an InsufferableGenius about it, but the gang treats him like he unclogs toilets for a living instead of teaching college students.

* BlondesAreEvil: Downplayed with Amy, who's more of a rude, unsympathetic SpoiledBrat / {{Jerkass}}.

* BlondesAreEvil: Particularly when it involves screwing Phoebe.

* RealLifeWritesThePlot: Ursula was appearing on ''MadAboutYou'' before ''Friends'' premiered; it was Kudrow's performance there that helped get her cast as Phoebe. When this series launched, it was decided to make Phoebe and Ursula twins to justify Kudrow playing characters on two different NBC shows.

Added DiffLines:

* TookALevelInDumbass: Ross was one of the most rational and serious members of the group in early seasons. By the end he becomes more of a neurotic mess and a ManChild prone to overreacting, often acting foolish, making bad choices and regularly putting himself into ridiculous situations.
