* CompositeCharacter: This hulking, undead behemoth might be Tankman in name, but the constant [[OminousVisualGlitch visual glitches]], the combined BodyOfBodies' enormous size, the threatening red messages that pop up throughout "Hivemind", and the attempts to [[WaveMotionGun blow Boyfriend sky-high]] all call to mind [[WebAnimation/MadnessCombat Tricky the Clown]], especially his third "Hellclown" phase from VideoGame/TheTrickyMod.

* DiesDifferentlyInAdaptation: Downplayed. ''VideoGame/FridayNightFunkin'' has Senpai be killed right after "Roses", when Spirit bursts out of his body to confront Boyfriend. While Spirit bursting out of Senpai's body still happens in ''VideoGame/FridayNightFunkinCorruption'', Senpai gets permanently killed when Evil Boyfriend gains admin commands to have him and Spirit deleted from existence. [[spoiler: Later subverted in "Null and Void", as Senpai makes a return to battle Boyfriend as a glitch entity.

* NotQuiteDead: [[spoiler: He was thought to have been dead from having lost to Glitch Boyfriend by the end of Week 6 and was deleted from existence. However, "Null and Void" reveal Senpai to have survived Glitch Boyfriend's admin commands and Senpai is instead turned into a corrupted version of himself.

** [[spoiler: He is frequently nervous in "Allure" and "Estrange", as Evil Girlfriend's illusion is clouding his progress on saving Girlfriend from the Corruption. Boyfriend nearly loses hope when Evil Girlfriend makes herself look like she got fully corrupted again, so that Boyfriend's efforts were AllFromNothing.]]

* SanitySlippage: [[spoiler: Boyfriend clutches on his head during "Estrange", because of the maddening effects of the illusions that Evil Girlfriend is using on him. The illusions quickly result in Boyfriend panicking and being unable to focus on the battle. The smile he wears to force himself to fight harder clearly indicates that he is losing his mind.]]

* SpeedEchoes: [[spoiler: Inverted. Boyfriend's speed doesn't create any afterimages of himself only when his mind is thinking clearly. However, when Evil Girlfriend's illusions drive him insane in "Estrange", Boyfriend's body quickly echoes in speed, despite clearly not feeling well.]]

Afterwards the encouragement, Boyfriend is ready to confront every illusion Evil Girlfriend throws at him.]]

* FauxAffablyEvil: [[spoiler: Evil Girlfriend speaks politely as Boyfriend slowly loses his mind in "Estrange". When Boyfriend begins to fail on saving her from the Corruption, Evil Girlfriend ''calmly'' taunts him for believing that he was making progress. Afterwards, she softly tells him on how his transformation into Evil Boyfriend is the [[LovingAShadow version of him she wants to see.]]]]
* GigglingVillain: [[spoiler: During the moments where Boyfriend is struggling to keep up with her singing in "Estrange", she giggles evilly to mock his failures. In Boyfriend's DarkestHour, she laughs one more time before Boyfriend is encouraged by Soul Boyfriend to continue battling one. The last time Evil Girlfriend laughs is when she is overpowered by Boyfriend near the end of the song and is forced to grow wings out her body to transform even further.]]

** [[spoiler: She gets even closer into beating Boyfriend in "Estrange", as her illusions to trick Boyfriend into thinking that he hasn't uncorrupted her, pushes him to undergo a HeroicBSOD. As Boyfriend loses his mind, she giggles in victory over having caused him to lose his mind, until the latter regains his confidence with Soul Boyfriend's help and is much more ready to continue fighting.]]

Inside the depths of Boyfriend's mind, an unknown being wakes him up in his DarkestHour. With Boyfriend awakened, Soul Boyfriend challenges him into a rap BattleInTheCenterOfTheMind. The battle they started had caused the Corruption on Boyfriend's body to slowly fade away. At first, Soul Boyfriend appears to be the embodiment of the Corruption, before finally confirming himself to be on Boyfriend side. Later after Boyfriend breaks free of the Corruption, Soul Boyfriend makes an appearance in "Estrange" to bring his hopes back up.

** As Boyfriend gets close to shutting down from Evil Girlfriend's intense illusions in "Estrange", Soul Boyfriend comes to the rescue inside the mind of Boyfriend. With the screen becoming static and blurry, Boyfriend temporarily sings with Soul Boyfriend and gets his confidence replenished by him. Following the encouragement, Boyfriend is now prepared to face down Evil Girlfriend for the second half of "Estrange".

* NotSoInvincibleAfterAll: For the most of "Hivemind", the Tankman Amalgam is always giving out his BadassBoast Badass Boasts]] on how invincible he is and that Boyfriend and Pico are too slow to keep up against him. While Tankman may be unstoppable to Boyfriend, Pico, and Girlfriend, Tankman is no match to the Harvester, since the latter easily takes him out with a BadassFingerSnap.

* NonStandardCharacterDesign: The Tankmen look completely different from other corrupted characters and in fact have no outward signs of corruption at all, instead taking after more traditional zombies. Despite this, the [[opening animation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkZo2KDA8A4]] indicates that they are still subservient to the Corruption, as several Tankmen can be seen following behind Corrupted Boyfriend, Girlfriend, and Pico.

* AdaptationalIntelligence: Boyfriend used to be a FearlessFool in ''VideoGame/FridayNightFunkin'', with his mind not caring about the dangers he is put in and is constantly a SmugSmiler when facing it. [[spoiler: Here, Boyfriend is aware of the dangerous threats of what the Corruption poses, upon breaking free of the Corruption trapping him inside his mind. He gets to showcase his increased intelligence by noticing something was off about "Girlfriend" being freed so easily, allowing him to dodge before getting hurt. Boyfriend also manages to strategize with Girlfriend on how they could take out Evil Pico's Nexus form together and using his own bullet wound to blind Evil Pic, allowing Boyfriend to punch him right in the face.]]

* AmbiguouslyEvil: It's not yet known what alignment The Harvester is on, considering their indirect aid against the Corruption by disrupting Evil Pico and forcing him to go into his Nexus form, or causing the Tankman Colossus to outright '''explode''' with just a snap of their hand. The cutscene following Week 11, however, shows them having harvested around 10,000 souls by that point, hinting that either they might be secretly working with the mastermind behind the Corruption, or are simply on their own agenda.

* NiceMeanAndInBetween: For the nicest one, Boyfriend is the most chill out of the group, since he never holds any grudges and doesn't overreact to situations. Pico is the mean for holding out a grudge over Boyfriend punching him in the face, even though the latter did so to free him from the Corruption. Girlfriend is in-between, as she only becomes a ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend if Boyfriend is endangered in any way.

** [[spoiler: During the first half of "Estrange", Boyfriend slowly loses hope in his ability to free Girlfriend from the Corruption and her illusions are rapidly deteriorating his sanity. At Boyfriend's lowest point, he manages to regain his desire to continue fighting because of Soul Boyfriend's appearance to cheer him on.]]

Boyfriend, realizing the danger he is in, dodges at the last second. Whilst dodging, Boyfriend's eyes briefly become white from the shock of being nearly killed.]]

* VillainProtagonist: They all once served to the Corruption and were the main playable characters that go around to corrupt the surviving characters. Evil Girlfriend is always with Boyfriend to back him up and Evil Pico is given ADayInTheLimelight to rap battle Mommy Mearest, [[spoiler: as of Week 10 this no longer applies to any of them.]]
