* MysteriousBacker: While Joker is running around becoming a publicly recognized criminal, Licht stays quiet and out of sight before eventually joining Company 8. The pair use this to their advantage to work him into places Joker could never go. Because nobody knows Joker is anything more than a random arsonist, they can't even begin to suspect he has a secret accomplice feeding me information.

* NonActionGuy: Licht can't fight and he lacks much muscle. When the time comes though, he sides with Shinra by decking a guy and helping him escape from Kurono to save a child. Because even Licht has some pride.

* InTheBlood: He comes from a long line of hyper-talented inventors.

An orphaned girl who lived in Vulcan's workshop, she is revealed to ultimately be a Knight of the Ashen Flames sent to spy on Vulcan and find the key to Amaterasu. After outing herself, Vulcan refused to believe she was truly evil and vowed to save her. With help from Ōbi, he succeeded, and with an ImportantHairCut, Lisa leaves the Knights of the Ashen Flames and joins Company 8 as one of its engineers.

* AntiVillain: Her brief time as a villain made it clear she wasn't truly evil, but rather a BrokenBird desperate to NeverBeHurtAgain and being mentally abused by Giovanni. Once Vulcan manages to get through to her and Giovanni abandons her, she leaves this position and becomes a full fledged hero.

* BatmanCanBreatheInSpace: [[spoiler:{{Lampshade|Hanging}}d, Averted, then Justified.]] When Arthur and Dragon's fight eventually results in the two of them [[ItMakesSenseInContext being propelled to the moon,]] Arthur initially keeps fighting like nothing's wrong, before the lack of oxygen gets to him and he collapses, unable to breathe. * YourMindMakesItReal: His fighting prowess is directly correlated to how much he feels like a knight. The deeper he is in his delusions, the more potent his sword will be and vice versa. This has been exploited by both allies and enemies. [[spoiler:Taken to its logical extreme during the Cataclysm, where the merging of the real world with Adolla literally causes his delusions to manifest in reality, granting him the ability to deal damage to Dragon and even **breathe in space** when their battle results in them getting propelled to the moon.]]

*** Confirmed: [[spoiler:in the Distant Finale, [[''Manga/SoulEater'' Lord Shinigami]] restores every hero back to life with exceptionally powerful souls, but Tamaki and Juggernaut are seen happily strolling together, restored to full health but away from the battlefield. * BigBrotherInstinct: All the way back to when Sho was a baby, Shinra looked after him. In fact, Shinra's first act as a "hero" was removing a sheet that had fallen on the baby Sho, blinding him and backing him cry from fear. In the main narrative, Shinra is determined to find his younger brother. [[spoiler: This makes their fight awkward for Shinra, because he is too reluctant to fight his brother, even if he could land a hit. Ultimately, he ends the fight in his favor via a CareBearStare to the afromentioned first heroic act.]]

* CantKillYouStillNeedYou: [[spoiler: Being one of the Pillars the White Clad need to complete their conquest means that they can't risk his death. Charon bluntly states that he'll "protect" Shinra just long enough to take him alive for their plans during their fight over Inca. His necessity is the only reason he survived some of his earlier battles with the group, such as his fights with Sho who deliberately avoided using his sword's blade for most of the battle.]]

* SiblingYinYang: He has black hair and wants to be a hero that fights Infernals, while his brother had white hair and [[spoiler: is leading a cult that is creating them]]. [[spoiler: Except Sho is not really leading the White Clad, since Haumea hijacks his mind when she thinks it necessary.]]

* AbusiveParents: Arthur had the neglectful variety of these, especially on the mother end. [[spoiler: In Chapter 97, Arhur's parents were revealed to be restaurant owners whose restaurant went up in flames and poisoned a customer, putting them in great financial debt. To escape their debts, they skipped out on Arthur when they ran out of food, leaving him alone to go live in the Nether and putting the delusion of him being a knight-king in his head ever since. Upon reappearing in Chapter 204, Arthur's mother revealed she had followed her husband into the Nether out of loyalty due his prophetic visions of the Evangelist and the world's corruption. While Arthur's father had well if not delusional intentions for protecting his son, his mother never believed these visions and simply followed because she loved her husband more than her only son, and had no problem conceiving three more children in the Nether while guiltlessly abandoning her first child, essentially revealing she never cared about him at all.]]

* {{Deuteragonist}}: Of ''Fire Force'', being the most important character in Company 8 after Shinra and his rival.[[spoiler: when Shinra becomes sealed away by the White Clad's plans to remove the HopeBringer during the cataclysm, it's ultimately Arthur who becomes the one that takes the steps needed to start turning the tide against their machinations, killing Giovani, who ultimately kick-started the end of the world, and then Dragon, who by that point was the greatest obstacle to the heroes stopping the cataclysm just with his mere existence, his personal despair being so great that it was practically single-handily fuelling the world's destruction through Adolla, and his immense power being so overwhelming that everybody thought he was practically unbeatable. Arthur actually succeeding visibly unsettles several high-ranking members of the White Clad, who never even considered that he'd be as big an obstacle to their plans as Shinra, and whilst he's unable to do more due to his injuries, him pushing back the world's destruction like that frees Shinra to finish the job in his stead]].

* DyingMomentOfAwesome: [[spoiler: Even after having the entire lower half of his body disintegrated by Dragon during their final fight, Arthur unleashes a Violet Flash that slices Dragon - ''and the entire Earth from the Moon'' - in half, single-handedly turning the tide against the Cataclysm by taking down its greatest source of despair.]]
* EnlightenmentSuperpowers: His dimwitted status grants him greater senses by being able to tune into the world around him by emptying his thoughts through meditation, which once granted him the power to bypass Giovanni's CombatClairvoyance by attacking without thinking at all. This same becomes true of Dragon, to an even greater extent, not only because of the Knight vs Dragon mythos that helps fuel Arthur's delusions during his battles with him, pushing his powers to greater heights in the process, but also [[spoiler: because Arthur is the only person on the planet who genuinely believes Dragon ''can'' be beaten, without any doubt or hesitation. when the world starts merging with [[YourMindmakesItReal Adolla]], this utter belief and certainty allows Arthur to start manipulating the very fabric of the world, able to unleash attacks that hurt the otherwise InvincibleVillain because he utterly believes that Dragon ''will'' be hurt and beaten by his hand. In other words, Arthur is too [[FearlessFool dumb]] or [[PowerBornOfMadness delusional]] to visualize himself losing against Dragon, and it's this precise trait that allows him to face him on equal ground]].

* RedBaron: The self proclaimed Knight King. He is also referred to by a narrator as the Violet Flash [[spoiler: during his final battle with Dragon]].

She was suspended from the prestigious Company 1 [[spoiler: due to her unknowing assistance with Rekka's scheming]] and was taken in by the much less respected Company 8 in the meantime. It wasn't until after her suspension period ended that she realized she fit in enough there to [[IChooseToStay make a permanent transfer]]. [[spoiler: This was by request of Captain Burns who wanted Tamaki sent to the only Company he could trust to not be compromised by the White-Clad.]]

* CoolSword: The hilt of his sword consists of a piece of flame-resistant wood fashioned into a crucifix, with a LaserBlade coming out the top. [[spoiler:When it's destroyed in his fight with Dragon, Vulcan manages to create a new hilt using the payload fairing of a spacecraft that Arthur's parents give them while looking inside the Nether for new material. Arther then proceeds to christen the blade as Excalibur, and it allows him to draw on greater levels of power in his rematch with Dragon, both through the higher heat it can channel as well as Arthur subconsciously manipulating the power of [[YourMindmakesItReal Adolla]] through his delusions, in effect making him wield unbelievable power becuase he believes in his CoolSword that much]].
