* UnluckilyLucky: On one hand, Hortensia, over the course of the game, [[spoiler:loses her father, has to betray her own country to save it from the Fell Dragon, is led to believe her sister died, before said sister joins the Divine Dragon, and gets brainwashed, before being forced to team up with Veyle, who she despises for what her EvilSplitPersonality did]]. Quite a list, to say the least. On the ''other'' hand, she was a ''student'' before she went to war, not even a trained soldier, and survives multiple encounters with the Divine Dragon, something quite a few of their other enemies can't say.

* GratuitousFrench: All but one of his critical hit quotes are in French.

** Kagetsu best-fits the "[[VideoGame/FireEmblemShadowDragonAndTheBladeOfLight Navarre]]" archetype among Engage's roster. In the story sense, he's a vagrant swordsman serving a foreign land to initially oppose you, before joining your side on behalf of a single character. Gameplay-wise, he's a [[CriticalHitClass critical-hit-focused]] swordsman with high Speed and notable Strength who is first fought as an enemy, though his joining time is rather late for the role. Other "Navarres" include [[VideoGame/FireEmblemGenealogyOfTheHolyWar Ayra]], [[VideoGame/FireEmblemThracia776 Mareeta]], [[VideoGame/FireEmblemTheBindingBlade Rutger]], [[VideoGame/FireEmblemTheBlazingBlade Guy]], and [[VideoGame/FireEmblemTheSacredStones Joshua]]. Though unlike the other Navarres, you can't persuade him to defect from the opposing army, instead he's an automatic recruitment a few chapters after his first few debuts as an enemy.

* MsFanservice: Along with Zelestia she ties as the most voluptuous of the playable characters (having a 220% modifier in the game data for her bust with the other women at 200% or less), and she is quite open to using those good looks to get the attention of others.

* UselessSuperpowers: Has the ability to see the future, but he can only see things like the weather and what people are going to eat, rather than anything important.

* SpoiledBrat: She definitely comes off as this when she is introduced as one of Alear's enemies prior to joining the party after Chapter 14, being overly demanding, immature, wanting things to go ''her'' way, and not taking "no" for an answer.

* SpoiledSweet: While Hortensia is an AntiVillain who acts like a spoiled brat sometimes and flaunts her cuteness more than a few times, she is actually very nice and cares a lot about friends and allies.

* VisualPun: In ''Heroes'', Hortensia's Arcane Charmer staff is a golden heart-themed staff. In other words, she while she may be selfish, she has a heart of gold.

* WickedHeartSymbol: She has a heart painted on her face and first appears in the story as an antagonist.

* VisualPun: In ''Heroes'', Hortensia's Arcane Charmer staff is a heart-themed staff with a golden handle, signifying her being a SpoiledSweet.

* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Onigiri. It's his symbol in the Ally Notebook, part of his endgame ephitet, the Ally Notebook states that he eats more of it than any other ally, and he mentions it in one of his selection lines when damaged.

* AmbiguouslyHuman: Rosado hails from the village of the Fair Folk, where everyone is [[InhumanlyBeautifulRace supernaturally beautiful]] and androgynous, and who seem to have minor superhuman abilities such as never tiring. It's never made clear if Rosado is actually not human, but the Fair Folk do sound an awful lot like [[TheFairFolk the fey]].

* AlwaysAccurateAttack: Has the ability to achieve this with the inherited skill Divine Pulse+. If a unit with the skill performs an attack and misses, it has a chance to trigger and turn the miss into a ''guaranteed'' hit. This occurs at a rate of 50%, which is increased by an additional point of percent per point of luck the user possesses. Céline and Hortensia, in their unique classes, are the only two units in the game who can reach 50 luck to gurantee the skill's activation without additional boosts to their luck. This also applies to status-inflicting staves, such as Freeze or even Entrap, provided the target doesn't have an ability to prevent those effects from being applied at all.

* HotBlooded: He travels the world specifically to fight strong opponents to fight, and treats sparring matches the same way he does a friendly chat over tea. {{Downplayed}} in that he's otherwise a pretty relaxed guy, and he doesn't like to fight only for its own sake: he also considers it an ideal way to learn about other people and their cultures.

* TenderTears: In his A support with Zelkov, Kagetsu is so overwhelmed with emotion upon being told that Ivy and Zelkov had planned to celebrate the anniversary of Kagetsu joining Ivy's service that he cries tears of joy. Kagetsu tries to hide it before they see Ivy, but Zelkov tells him that she'd probably enjoy getting to see that side of him.

* UndyingLoyalty: He's not officialy Hortensia's retainer but he and Goldmary insisted on sticking with her when the war started. When he believes Hortensia got captured by Alear's forces he even turns traitor alongside Goldmary just so he can get a chance to rescue her.

* InferioritySuperiorityComplex: She reveals in her A-Support with Alear the reason for her narcissistic behavior. She was excessively coddled as a child, raised being treated as if she was the most beautiful, wonderful person in the world, only to eventually leave home to live at a academy and find out there were others who were more popular, capable, etc. than her. This did a serious number on her self confidence, which she dealt with by developing a strong perfectionist streak and a desire to make sure everyone she knows acknowledges her. This of course leads to equally extreme sadness if she feels she has failed to impress those around her.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She's a total narcissist who pretends to be demure for the sake of appearing above everyone else, but some of her supports do show that she is capable of being empathetic to others. She also greatly cares for Hortensia, being one of the few people she's genuinely sweet and kind to.

* StoneWall: She joins with a very high defense of 20, and her base defense growth is higher than ''Louis''.

* VerbalTic: She has such a habit of leading her CondescendingCompassion with "I'm sorry if/I'm sorry that..." that it's basically her CatchPhrase.

* VocalDissonance: In both the Japanese and English voiceovers, he has a fairly deep voice, courtesy of Creator/ShoutaAoi and Brian Anderson, despite his feminine appearance.

While it is explained that [[spoiler: he was revived as one of the Corrupted]] by Chapter 17, it's unclear how his body was able to be recovered after [[spoiler: Sombron ate him]], espcially since Diamant even stated that [[spoiler: Hyacinth was eaten]], there wasn't even a body left behind.

* DyingAsYourself: [[spoiler:He regains his humanity when his Corrupted form is killed, telling his daughters how proud he is and how much he loves them, with a final plea for them to save Elusia.]]
