* ArcVillain: [[spoiler:He takes this role after Faris is captured successfully, wishing to destroy Guiltina and unleash his wrath on the rest of the world.]]
* AwakeningTheSleepingGiant: [[spoiler:God Seed Aldoron notes that now that the White Mage has destroyed his {{Power Limiter}}s, Aldoron has fully awakened and no longer wishes to spend his days sleeping away. Now, he will unleash his power and conquer/destroy all of Guiltina for his God Seeds to inhabit, and possibly move on to the world.]]
* CurbStompBattle: [[spoiler:Once he fully awakens, a fleet of flying magic warships from Guiltina's Magic Council arrive and move in to intercept, having apparently been watching and waiting for the day he might finally go on a rampage. The ships proceed to blast him in the face with a barrage of Uranus cannons--which the heroes note seem to be even stronger than the [[WaveMotionGun Jupiter cannons]] they're used to--only for him to emerge [[NoSell with no injuries]] and proceed to casually destroy the entire fleet by summoning multiple giant trees that dwarf the hills and mountains around him and pierce clean through the ships.]]
* EvilAllAlong: Throughout the first half of the arc, the characters aren't entirely sure whether he's good or evil, since he allows people to live on his back, and just sleeps most of the time. [[spoiler:When he wakes up, though, its suddenly made very clear that Aldoron's only ever cared about the people on his back in so far as he saw them as sources of sustenance, and he fully intends on either destroying, or subjugating the rest of the world. Natsu admits that he's relieved by that, as he doesn't have to deal with the issues he did with Mercuphobia.]]
* GentleGiant: Apparently, he was the one to asked the humans to build cities over his massive body. Even when he occasionally emerges, all he does is stretch a little and take a nap on the surface, leaving his people unharmed. [[spoiler:As it turns out though, he ''needed'' them to stay unharmed until the day he could finally be awakened fully, as many of the humans were in fact living seeds he cultivated with the intention of healing his body. He also couldn't move much even if he wanted to, as that was part of the condition of the sealing he put on his own body. It's then averted when he fully awakens, as he shows no obvious concern at the devastation caused to the towns once he starts moving around, and in fact the majority of the residents are ''happy'' by this since it will make it easier for them to remerge with Aldoron's body.]]
* GiantEqualsInvincible: Aldoron is so huge that most attacks are effectively mosquito bites on him, and he treats them accordingly. It takes [[spoiler:Brandish growing Gajeel to comparable size before someone can actually land a hit that makes him do more than pause and actually knock him around.]]
* GreenThumb: He can control plant life. [[spoiler:The majority of Draseal's residents are living "nutrient seeds" that he cultivated from his sealed power that masqueraded as humans for generations, their intended goal to fuse with him once he fully awakened to fully heal any remaining injuries he possessed.]] God Seed Aldoron goes so far to claim that Aldoron has power over life itself.
* JerkassGods: The people of Draseal revere him as a deity, even willing to sacrifice themselves to him. [[spoiler:Aldoron only ever viewed them as [[LifeDrinker nourishment]] to grow stronger.]]
* LifeDrinker: [[spoiler:God Seed Aldoron reveals that in addition to his human looking seeds, actual humans would live in his cities where he would absorb their energies over generations to add to his power. There's no mention if this was detrimental to the humans, or not. He also reveals this is basically his motivation with his awakening, and aims to feed on even his fellow Dragon Gods.]]
* MakeMeWannaShout: [[spoiler:Once he fully awakens, he unleashes a massive roar that sends everyone who hears it to covering their ears.]]
* MookMaker: He can spawn "[[PlantMooks God Seeds]]" from his body, which are effectively humanoid tree seedlings that serve the purpose of fighting smaller human targets on his body he can't be bothered or be practical to face himself.
* NoBodyLeftBehind: [[spoiler:As he dies after God Seed Aldoron is destroyed and his body is wrecked from the inside out by Natsu's [[KillItWithFire Purgatory Dragon Fire]], Aldoron's giant body collapses and crumbles in on itself.]]
* NoSell: Once again reminding the audience that only Dragon Slayer Magic has any real hope of harming a dragon, Aldoron [[spoiler:gets shot in the face by over a dozen [[WaveMotionGun Uranus Magical Convergence Cannons]] (essentially an upgraded version of the army-destroying Jupiter cannon) and isn't even phased before destroying the entire flying fleet of ships attacking him. Chapter 58 also has Brandish explain that he's too powerful for her to use her Sizeshifter magic on.]]
* NotSoInvincibleAfterAll: Once he awakens, he [[spoiler:fights the magical military and easily decimates them in seconds and indeed his God Seeds would kill any normal human that went against him. But Fairy Tail turns out to be more formidable and intuitive then he realizes and one by one his defenses are taken out, which weakens him severely before Natsu finally gives the finishing blow.]]
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: He resembles a {{Kaiju}} dragon made of wood, or even a massive plant in the shape of a dragon complete with a giant tree growing out of his back. And that's to say nothing of his ability to [[spoiler:[[LifeDrinker drain the life force of anything that stays on him long enough]], nor his death scene where his body crumbles apart like he really was nothing but a giant wood construct.]]
* PlantMooks: The "God Seeds" are effectively this, humanoid tree creatures spawned from his body and power that he uses to fight humans and other similarly small creatures on his body. [[spoiler:They also have the ability to masquerade as humans and with enough time can collect energy to give it back to him by remerging with his body.]]
* PowerLimiter: [[spoiler:Contrary to what the White Mage was led to believe by Selene, the five orbs within the towns on Aldoron's body don't contain his power, but rather are ''seals'' on his power he himself set up, in order to control the power he stored up in his effort to heal the injuries inflicted on him by Acnologia centuries before. Once all are shattered, he awakens in full.]]
* {{Pride}}: God Seed Aldoron reveals that [[spoiler:not only does Aldoron believe dragons are the pinnacle of nature and thus sharing the same PunyHumans mindset as most villainous dragons, he takes it a step further by viewing himself truly as a level above even other dragons as a proper god for whom even other dragons are just a source of [[LifeDrinker nourishment]] for.]]
* RentAZilla: Mercphobia states that Aldoron is the largest of the Dragon Gods. Considering Mercphobia himself was one of the largest dragons shown, Aldoron is the largest dragon ''period''. To put a size perspective on it, one of the towns that make up the city of Draseal can fit on the back of one of his ''hands'', with four more scattered on his upper body. [[spoiler:God Seed Aldoron reveals Aldoron wasn't always this large, originally only large enough to carry a single town on his back, but as he drew in power over the centuries to heal his injuries from Acnologia he grew larger and larger into the colossus that towers over mountains by the present-day.]]
* StrongerWithAge: [[spoiler:Aldoron was originally much smaller, only able to fit a single town on his backside, but 400+ years of storing power by siphoning off the inhabitants of the town allowed him to grow into a colossus that towers over mountains and could fit ''five'' towns on his upper body to siphon nutrients from.]]
* SuperToughness: Aldoron may have hit a new level of this. [[spoiler:Natsu punches him in the back with Fire Dragon King's Demolition Fist, which can be viewed as almost a pillar of light shooting out of the town...and the most it does is make Aldoron pause for a second like he noticed a mosquito bite. The God Seed that shows up shortly afterwards "congratulates" Natsu by saying he dealt "one point of damage" to Aldoron, before adding that Aldoron's stamina is worth '''100,000,000''' points and that he ''might'' be able to defeat Aldoron if he can repeat that move another 99,999,999 times. In the end, it takes Natsu using [[SuperMode Dragon Force]] and drawing upon the power of every fire dragon's magical power he's eaten before (Igneel, Atlas Flame, and Ignia) to kill him, ''and'' that's with the caveat of attacking the much smaller but no less dangerous God Seed Aldoron who was weakened somewhat by his strength being halved from his dragon self's long sleep, the destruction of the other God Seeds and Gajeel's attack on his main dragon body.]]
* {{Treants}}: He resembles the dragon equivalent, being what looks like massive (even by the standards of dragons) living tree in the form of a dragon with scales like bark, and he's an ancient being who doesn't mind the fact humans have made cities on parts of his body.
* UnwittingPawn: Revealed [[spoiler:posthumorously]] to be one for [[spoiler:Selene. She honestly could have cared less if he tried to take on the world and the other Dragon Gods, only that he provide decent entertainment before either emerging victorious or getting himself killed, even if she didn't really believe the latter would happen. She doesn't hesitate to call him "weak" after the fact regardless.]]
* WorfHadTheFlu: [[spoiler:Even discounting the fact that Aldoron's other God Seeds are tied to his power and defeating them weakened him enough for [[SuperMode Dragon Force]] Natsu to finish him off, Mercphobia reveals that Aldoron was "only" at half power even at his peak during that fight since he just woke up and didn't have time to fully bring his power to bear.]]
* WreathedInFlames: [[spoiler:When he awakens in full, the wooden horns on his head ignite with flames.]]

!Five Dragon Gods
[[folder:Five Dragon Gods in General]]
The Five Dragon Gods are five insurmountably powerful dragons that inhabit the mysterious land of Guiltina, each rumored to rival the might of Acnologia himself. The goal of Fairy Tail's [[Manga/FairyTail100YearsQuest Century Quest]] is to seal these dragons away, but no one has ever managed to face them and live to tell about it in over 160 years.
----
* AllPowerfulBystander: They haven't budged an inch for centuries, not even taking part in the events leading to the Dragon King Festival and the virtual extinction of the dragons, remaining content to mind their own business. However, it's believed that they will stir when something "massive" happens, and their capacity for cataclysmic destruction is precisely why Elefseria wants to make sure they're contained. Dragon God Ignia himself implies that "something" is actually Acnologia's death, [[TheDreaded as he's the reason they fled to Guiltina and went into hiding.]]
* BalanceOfPower: Even disregarding the ever-present threat of Acnologia, the big reason the Dragon Gods haven't been more active is because they're all evenly matched enough that any of them making a move on the others would result most likely in a stalemate. In the worst-case, MutuallyAssuredDestruction would be on the table, and there's the possibility an outside power could take advantage of their battles. [[spoiler:That's why Selene sought to use [[HumansAreSpecial Faris and now Diabolos]] as her pawns to tip the scales in her favor.]]
* BigBadEnsemble: Collectively they are this, although it's [[PlayingWithTropes played with]] or even [[SubvertedTrope subverted]] with Mercuphobia, who had a HeelFaceTurn decades ago and is the TokenGoodTeammate who only attacked because he was BrainwashedAndCrazy.
* ChekhovsGunman: Implied, as August first mentioned the existence of "dragon gods" when marveling over God Serena's power, even though God Serena laughed off the idea of such dragons existing, let alone any dragon that could withstand him. It turns out there ''are'' dragons with the title of "gods" in this world, and they're set up as the villains of ''[[Manga/FairyTail100YearsQuest 100 Years Quest]]''.
* DayOfTheWeekName: Their elements (and corresponding titles) are based on the Japanese names for the weekdays:
** Monday: Getsuyoubi (Moon): Moon Dragon God Selene
** Tuesday: Kayoubi (Fire): Fire Dragon God Ignia
** Wednesday: Suiyoubi (Water): Water Dragon God Mercuphobia
** Thursday: Mokuyoubi (Wood): Wood Dragon God Aldoron
** Friday: Kinyoubi (Metal/Gold): Gold Dragon God Viernes
** [[spoiler:Saturday: Doyoubi (Earth): Earth Dragon God Dogramag]]
* DragonsAreDivine: While they [[GodGuise aren't truly gods]], they are amongst the most powerful of the Dragon race and were worshipped in the past as gods for their terrible power and deeds with it.
* TheDreaded: Just as Acnologia was believed far and wide to be the most terrible force of destruction Earth-land has ever known, there are secretly five others of his caliber--and if they were to go to war, it would spell TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt. The fact that they have to fight these beasts strikes dread into Fairy Tail's hearts, considering how much magic power it took to take Acnologia down.
* AGodAmI: While Mercphobia goes the AGodIAmNot route, at least two of them (Aldoron and Ignia) definitely seem to buy into the hype that they have become gods of this world.
* GodGuise: They are of the "mistaken for gods" variety who built up their strength to rival Acnologia, causing humans to fear and revere them as actual gods. In Mercphobia's case, the people of Ermina have a religion dedicated to him while Aldoron is hailed by the people of Draseal as a guardian god.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: Ignia reveals they fled to Guiltina 400 years ago during the Dragon King Festival to escape Acnologia out of fear of him, since they lacked the power to challenge him at the time. Of course, by the time they actually grew in strength to rival his, he was already killed.
* LastOfHisKind: Thanks to Acnologia, are the only known remaining dragons in the world (excluding the human-turned-dragon Elseferia)
* MotiveDecay: They originally fled to Guiltina in hopes of someday growing strong enough to challenge Acnologia, but in the intervening years, most of them have seemingly abandoned this goal (Mercphobia is more interested in ruling Ermina, while Aldoron is content with acting as the foundation for several towns) with the only exception being [[BloodKnight Ignia]]. [[spoiler:Selene and Aldoron meanwhile are revealed to have changed their goals to TakeOverTheWorld, with the latter wanting to [[LifeDrinker feed on all life to grow stronger]] while the former wanted to use Aldoron to do the job before deciding to do it herself after his death.]]
* NotSoOmniscientCouncilOfBickering: Despite being known collectively as the "Five Dragon Gods", they mostly keep to themselves and don't really have much connection besides being incredibly powerful dragons. Mercphobia even admits he hasn't had much contact with the others aside from Ignia.
* OneExtraMember: [[spoiler:Despite being called the Five Dragon Gods, Elefseria reveals there is in fact a ''sixth'' member, Earth Dragon God Dogramag, but this member isn't nominally counted anymore because [[PosthumousCharacter he's dead]] but the corpse still remains.]]
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Each of them qualifies by virtue of having comparable power to Acnologia, but for specifics:
** Mercphobia can cause TheGreatFlood to happen simply as a consequence of PowerIncontinence, [[spoiler:and when he goes crazy, even in an instinctual rage can lift all the water flooding Ermina into the sky while preventing any more water from flooding in]].
** Ignia simply by flaring his Magic Power can set an entire city on fire. When he puts in a bit of effort, [[spoiler:he can melt through the enchanted stone walls of the Great Labyrinth of Dogra, which the likes of Natsu and Suzaku could only lightly mark with their attacks.]]
** Aldoron is so huge a single ''stomp'' can destroy a mountain range, to say nothing of his actual magic [[spoiler:that creates trees that dwarf the mountains.]]
** Selene when her magic power is flexed in full makes the moon grow larger and starts affecting the ocean in Earthland's Elmina ''across dimensions'' from Elentear.
** [[spoiler:Dogramag, despite by Elefseria's own reckoning the ''weakest'' of the Dragon Gods and having a century less time to gather power due to allegedly being killed by the Magia Dragon guild master, was able to merge his Magic Power with the very earth itself and create a massive, ever-expanding-to-the-present-day underground labyrinth. And his supposed corpse ''still'' retains its potent Magic Power after a whole century.]]
** Viernes can transmute entire landscapes into gold just by flying high into the sky and then unleashing his magic power down on the land within his view.
* PowerIncontinence: [[spoiler:Several of them have been revealed to have an issue with this, their power growing so vast they can't fully control it anymore. Mercphobia's powers have gotten to the point he can't stop raising the tides at night and fears he could cause TheGreatFlood if left unchecked. Aldoron needed to create his PowerLimiter orbs and the Five God Seed generals to suppress his power after he grew to the gargantuan size he's reached in the present.]]
* ShroudedInMyth: Because [[AllPowerfulBystander they're content to live in hiding]], very few in the world have ever heard of them and fewer still believe them to be anything other than legend, from the Magic Council to Acnologia himself. All that's known is that each has the magic power to rend the earth and burn the sky should they so choose to.
* {{Weredragon}}: Unlike humans who forcibly turned into dragons from overusing their Dragon Slaying Magic, they each seem to know Transformation Magic that allows them to appear as humans.

!!Mercphobia
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mercuphobia.png]]
[[caption-width-right:250:[[labelnote:Click here to see his human appearance]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mercuphobia_human_form.png[[/labelnote]]]]

The Water Dragon God, ruler of Ermina, and the first of the Dragon Gods encountered by Natsu and friends. While he possesses a surprising level of cordialness and interest in humans in the present, in the past he was greatly feared for his willingness to drown countless numbers of them without care.
----
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: [[spoiler:The White Wizard makes him go on a rampage in Ermina, with Karameel tearfully pleading with Natsu and company to [[MercyKill put him out of his misery]].]]
* BroughtDownToNormal: [[spoiler:After Natsu powered up on Ignia's flames manages to beat him to a pulp and halt his brainwashed rampage, Mercphobia ends up expending his available magic power and finds himself reduced to a "mere" human. He doesn't mind though, as now he doesn't have to worry about his power threatening the world and his people anymore.]]
* DeathSeeker: He admits to Natsu's team that he wants to die, or at least be sealed away, to ensure his powers don't endanger the planet. However, [[MilesToGoBeforeISleep he can't do that until he regains his stolen magic and restores Ermina's citizens to human form]].
* ElementalRockPaperScissors: Both played straight and {{subverted}}. His Water Dragon Magic is noted to be capable of easily nullifying Natsu's fire, but said magic is also barely inconvenienced by Gray's ice. This is partially due to the fact that he just has so much more power than either of them. It's only when Ignia, a fellow God Dragon, comes onto the scene that Mercphobia struggles to counter magic.
* ElementalShapeshifter: Similar to [[Characters/FairyTailSiriusTeam Juvia]], Mercphobia has the ability to turn his body into water on reflex to let attacks harmlessly slip through him in the rare case he actually gets attacked by something [[SuperToughness that can actually hurt him]]. [[spoiler:When Natsu tries to hit him with [[FinishingMove Crimson Lotus: Exploding Flame Blade]], doing this not only lets him avoid damage, but it also lets him extinguish Natsu's fire]].
* FacialMarkings: He has a serpentine-shaped tattoo around his right eye. [[spoiler:His dragon form has similar tattoos around his face.]]
* AGodIAmNot: He's pretty upfront about the fact he doesn't consider himself a god despite his power and the people of Ermina's worship of him. In fact, he had no intentions of being worshiped as such and outright considers the past "miracles" they worship him for as atrocities.
* TheGoodKing: Technically the GodIsGood of Ermina from their standpoint, but he seems to view himself more like this. His underwater palace contains massive gardens that distribute food to the city, a medical facility for the fish and humans-turned-fish, and a watchtower with which he can spot and rescue shipwrecked sailors. He's also very reasonable and protective of his people, to the point he used transformation magic to ensure they wouldn't be drowned by the unnatural high tide [[spoiler:caused by his powers]]. Natsu's team honestly question if he's really supposed to be some sort of terrifying world-destroying dragon.
* TheGreatFlood: According to him, this is what his PowerIncontinence ultimately risks doing if it continues.
* HornedHumanoid: His human form has a noticeable set of curved horns coming out of his head, which are also present on his dragon form.
* LordOfTheOcean: Worshiped as a god of water, or a ''[[UsefulNotes/{{Shinto}} suijin]]'' in Japanese.
* MakingASplash: When he makes his grand appearance, he quite literally ''splits the ocean apart''. [[spoiler:And when he gets serious fighting Natsu and company, he lifts all the water out of the sea surrounding Ermina into the sky and creates giant whirlpools out of it. When Gray tries to freeze his attacks, he just instantly turns it back into water.]]
* MeaningfulName: The first half of this dragon's name comes from the Roman god Mercury[[note]]specifically the Japanese transliteration of his Roman name, "Mercurius"[[/note]], while the planet Mercury is known in Japanese as the "Water Star". The "phobia" half is [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast a suffix used to describe a specific fear]], essentially making his name a roundabout way of saying "fear of water". According to himself, he very much put exactly that in his enemies back in the past.
* NoBadassToHisValet: His human assistant Karameel, while respectful to him, is about the only person in Ermina who ''doesn't'' treat him like a god and is much more blunt about making her opinions known. He appreciates it, knowing that it comes from a good place and finding it refreshing from all the worship.
* NoSell: [[spoiler:Once he goes berserk and his powers return, he's able to match Fairy Tail's attacks with his own easily, and that's when he's not just tanking them to no effect. Natsu using Fire Dragon King's Roar and Fist? Mercphobia overpowers the former with his own BreathWeapon and tanks the latter with no visible effect. Gray freezing his attacks? He just turns it back into water. Natsu hitting him point-blank with [[FinishingMove Crimson Lotus: Exploding Flame Blade]]? Mercphobia [[DoubleSubverted noticeably pauses...and then extinguishes Natsu's fire]] and revealing he turned his body into water to absorb the blow before trying to suck him into a whirlpool.]]
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: [[spoiler:Unlike most of the Dragons in the setting, he has a more Eastern design, which is more fitting in their association with water.]]
* PowerIncontinence: His power has grown so much that he can no longer effectively control it. The massive high tide that drowns the city of Ermina is just one side-effect of this loss of control, and in time it could very well spread across the world. [[spoiler:Having some of his power stolen by Touka only made things even worse, despite Karameel's desperate hopes, as it made it possible for her to control his mind as a servant.]]
* PowerTattoo: Has one on the right side of his face and eye.
* RentAZilla: [[spoiler:Natsu comments upon seeing his true form that he's even bigger than Igneel. Indeed, when fellow Dragon God and Igneel's son Ignia shows up (who seems about average-sized as far as dragons go), a panel showing the two facing each other shows Mercphobia's true form towers over Ignia's own.]]
* RetiredMonster: Is very up-front to Natsu's team about how, while he might have had a change of heart towards humanity in the present, wiping them out "like ants before the tide" was second nature to him in the past.
* SeaMonster: [[spoiler:His true form resembles an Eastern dragon, appearing like a massive winged sea serpent.]]
* StopWorshippingMe: He would ''like'' to do this towards the people of Ermina, but they've believed in him for so long that doing so would throw them into chaos, [[spoiler:nor would it fix the problem of his powers going haywire]].
* TakingTheBullet: Throws himself on top of Karameel to take the shockwaves from Kiria's Blade Dragon's Tearing Roar, which noticeably tear into his body but leaves her unharmed.
* WorfHadTheFlu: He's still powerful, but Touka putting an unknown amount of restriction on his power has hampered his combat capability from the PhysicalGod he once was, to the point he's unable to stand up to the Dragon Eaters of Diabolos in a direct fight when they come calling. Skullion himself states that in Mercphobia's current state, he's [[NotWorthKilling no longer worth eating]] and they leave him to go and hunt down Touka. This gets shown in full detail [[spoiler:when Touka restores his power at the cost of his sanity, where he takes multiple Dragon Slayer Magic-empowered attacks from Fairy Tail's strongest team dead-on and just shrugs them off while he was grievously wounded by one of Kiria's attacks with his power restricted. And even then, it's the fact that he's unable to fully leverage his power after being reduced to a rampaging beast along his power being in flux from the White Mage's tampering that gives the team a chance to survive long enough for Ignia to offer help.]]

!!Ignia
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ignia_dragon_form.png]]
[[caption-width-right:250:[[labelnote:Click here to see his human appearance]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ignia_1.png[[/labelnote]]]]

The Fire Dragon God, Igneel's biological son, and by extension Natsu's foster brother. He eagerly awaits the chance to clash with Natsu and see which of them has the superior fire.
----
* BadassBoast; When his battle with Selene reminds Natsu of Igneel's death caused by Acnologia, Ignia touts that if it was him instead, he would have defeated the monstrosity. [[spoiler:Immediately afterward, he blasts Selene with firepower so strong that it punches a hole through her neck, and Natsu is extremely offended by how his ruthlessness disgraces his father's name.]]
* BigBadEnsemble: He starts taking a more active role opposite Selene from Chapter 100 onwards. [[spoiler:He has an EvilPlan of his own to bring back dragons that runs directly counter to Selene's plan for an "age of humans".]]
* BlasphemousBoast: While observing from afar [[spoiler:Aldoron's utter decimation of the Guiltena flying warships after they fail to harm him with their [[WaveMotionGun Uranus cannons]]]], Ignia smugly notes that no human weapon could ever hope to harm a god of dragons. He also laughs at the idea of another Dragon God hurting him, believing himself to be superior to all the rest. [[spoiler:Selene damages him multiple times and even survives and fully heals from the hole he puts in her neck while he incorrectly assumes her to be dead and leaves.]]
* BloodKnight: He ''really'' wants to fight Natsu, as in "fight to the death." He also admits he wanted to be the one to kill Acnologia in order to test his own strength against the Dragon King.
* CainAndAbel: The dynamic seems to be shaping up like this with Ignia as the Cain and Natsu the Abel (again), as Natsu is a guy who loves a good fight but grows incensed at potentially hurting innocents, while Ignia doesn't seem to care at all for people caught in his crossfire. Ignia himself seems to be encouraging this, as he wants Natsu to fight him at his strongest. That said, while Natsu acknowledges they have the same father, he still only views Zeref as his actual brother.
* CombatPragmatist: [[spoiler: He takes advantage of Natsu temporarily stopping the fight between Selene and him to blast a major hole in her neck while she's distracted.]]
* TheDragonsComeBack: [[spoiler:Heavily hinted to be the driving factor behind his own EvilPlan, as when Selene responds to his question about why she would aid [[HumansAreInsects humans]] with "[[TheEndOfAnAge the age of dragons is over]]", he shoots back with "it's only just beginning."]]
* EvilIsBurningHot: It's unclear just how "evil" he is, although he certainly doesn't seem to care about innocents being caught in the crossfire. He's strong enough to melt the nigh-indestructible walls of the Labyrinth of Dogra just by standing there.
* EvilVersusEvil: He and Selene wish to enact plots that will bring harm to humans, but go about it in different ways (Selene wanting to rule humans while he wants to bring back the world of Dragons). And naturally don't see eye to eye on their methods, resulting in the two fighting it out.
* FinalBoss: {{Invoked}}, as Ignia wants to fight Natsu at his absolute strongest and thus is content (indeed, even ''eager'') for him to take on the other four Dragon Gods first to hone himself further. His appearance against Mercphobia can even be seen from his perspective as a FinalBossPreview.
* HelpingWouldBeKillStealing:
** {{Downplayed}}. He shows up to "help" Natsu and the gang against the out-of-control Mercphobia, but he makes it clear he's not actually going to fight the Water Dragon God since that wouldn't help them grow stronger. Instead, he's just here to give Natsu a temporary PowerUp to stand up to Mercphobia, but the rest of the fight is all on him.
** He also mocks Natsu for needing the help of other Dragon Slayers for defeating Acnologia instead of relying solely on his own strength.
* HumansAreInsects: He scoffs at the idea of human weapons being a true threat to him, [[spoiler:and Selene's choice to side with and use humans for her dreams of the future are mocked by him outright.]]
* INeedYouStronger: He wants Natsu to be at his absolute best when they face off so they can have a "proper" deathmatch. [[spoiler:After Aldoron's death, he expresses approval of how far Natsu's coming along and where he's going.]]
* LikeFatherLikeSon: [[spoiler:Dogramag]] states that Ignia's always been a weird dragon despite their friendship, comparing it to how his dad Igneel was "weird" in wanting to spearhead dragon/human coexistence.
* LikeFatherUnlikeSon: Igneel was one of the biggest proponents of dragon/human coexistence. Ignia meanwhile has the more typical dragon belief of HumansAreInsects and [[spoiler:intends to bring back the age of dragons at the expense of humanity.]]
* MeaningfulName: Like his father, "Ignia" is one letter off from "ignis", the Latin root for the word "fire".
* MorphicResonance: His human form has both the tattoos of his dragon form and his hair.
* MrFanservice: A PhysicalGod who has a WalkingShirtlessScene in every one of his appearances as a human.
* OnlyFriend: With [[spoiler:the supposedly deceased Earth Dragon God Dogramag. Ignia respectfully calls the dragon his "one true friend" upon noting that even in death Dogramag used Elefseria's heart to advance their mutual EvilPlan and that he was the only one who had the same idea as him. When Dogramag reveals himself to be very much alive, Ignia greets him with a warm smile.]]
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: He makes it clear he wants that inevitable showdown with Natsu when he comes in to save him from being killed by Mercphobia. [[spoiler:He even tells Dogramag that he can eat the rest of the people in the Labyrinth if he wants, but Natsu is to be kept alive. He does give his friend the go-ahead to rough Natsu up if need be, though.]]
* PlayingWithFire: He wouldn't be Igneel's son and Natsu's brother without it. He claims his flames are so powerful not even water can snuff them out. [[spoiler:He can also melt through the otherwise-unbreakable stone walls of the Great Labyrinth of Dogra.]]
* PunchCatch: Effortlessly catches a flame-covered punch from Natsu.
* SpannerInTheWorks:
** His appearance during the Water Dragon God Arc to provide the means to defeat Mercphobia puts a major wrench into the White Mage's plans, [[spoiler:forcing her to rely on using the brainwashed Fairy Tail guild and Jellal as her new pawns against the other Dragon Gods.]]
** In the Labyrinth Arc, [[spoiler:his sudden appearance during the "game" between Fairy Tail and Diabolos throws Selene's calculations out of whack, with her visibly unnerved and worried ''he'' knows the labyrinth's secret as well. It then turns out not only does he know the secret (Elefseria's heart), but he conspired with the dead Dogramag to use it for their ''own'' plan and then [[NoMacGuffinNoWinner torches the heart]] now that its role is finished to keep her from getting it.]]
* SpikesOfVillainy: He noticeably has more horns and spikes on his body than Igneel, and unlike his human-loving father he doesn't seem to have much issue with catching humans in the crossfire as shown when he sets Ermina on fire. [[spoiler:Indeed, he has his own EvilPlan in the works]].
* StrongFamilyResemblance: He has Igneel's color palette, general build, horns, and horned nose.
* UnderestimatingBadassery: Downplayed, as he ''is'' legitimately powerful, but Ignia claims that he and his fellow Dragon Gods have not just rivaled, but ''surpassed'' Acnologia's own might. Even ignoring Acnologia's power-up via devouring the magic energy of the Space between Time at the climax of the final arc (something that's unlikely for Ignia to be aware of), there's also the fact there exists at least one BadFuture where Acnologia managed to TakeOverTheWorld, implying that he and his fellow Dragon Gods bit the dust in that timeline.
** Played completely straight with Selene. [[spoiler:He expected her to die after his final attack and didn’t leave unscathed like he boasted he would. When he disappears, he does so with an air of assuming his opponent is dead or sure to die soon. Instead, Selene survives and causes the true downfall of Dogramag all while actively worsening her injuries through extreme overuse of her magic. After a brief period of rest, she is already fully recovered (although she needed Irene's help to remove her internal wound that could have slowly killed her) and is doubling down on her quest to find the ultimate human weapon that will let her objectively surpass Ignia and Viernes rather than merely equal them.]]
* VillainRespect: He praises Natsu after [[spoiler:the latter manages to kill Aldoron, even though Aldoron was only fighting at half his full power due to just awakening from his long sleep and further weakened somewhat from the destruction of his other God Seeds, because it is nevertheless an enormous achievement for his foster brother.]]
* WalkingShirtlessScene: When in human form.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: He wants to revive his species from the brink of extinction but doesn't particularly care if they endanger human lives.
* WorthyOpponent: Selene calmly states that dying in battle against him is a possibility, even for her, however she's the only one in the area who can do the same to him.

!!Aldoron
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aldoron.png]]

The Wood Dragon God who resides in Draseal... or more accurately, whose body is the foundation on which the city of Draseal, split into five separate towns, is built upon.
----
* ArcVillain: [[spoiler:He takes this role after Faris is captured successfully, wishing to destroy Guiltina and unleash his wrath on the rest of the world.]]
There’s no mention if this was detrimental to the humans, or not.

[[caption-width-right:250:[[labelnote:Click here to see her human appearance]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/selene_66.png[[/labelnote]]]]

The Moon Dragon God who lives on Black Moon Mountain. A scheming and brutal individual who doesn't hold back her power or emotions towards her enemies, she wants to see the rival Dragon Gods fall and embrace the world full of powerful mages.
----
* AmbiguousSituation: [[spoiler:Multiple, given that she’s known to be an UnreliableNarrator. Is she really out to save humans, or are they all just pawns in her great conquest? Did she really kill humans in self-defense, or was that a lie to hide her sadism as shown before? Is she truly dying, or did she say that to completely throw Elefseria off and make him cross her off the list as a threat? Her internal wound at least was real until Irene transferred it to herself…]]
* AsianFoxSpirit: Her true form resembles a dragonified nine-tailed fox, her human form is a beautiful woman dressed in a form-fitting kimono, and her nature is of deception, cruelty, and manipulation to get what she wants with little care for others.
* BathingBeauty: According to her, she bathes three times a day.
* BigBadEnsemble: [[spoiler:Currently serving as this opposite Ignia for the entire manga, having been behind the activities of both Faris and Aldoron, being responsible for the chaos in both Elentear and Earthland, taking direct control of Diabolos with a vengeance after literally stomping Georg, and seeking to gain the power of Athena for herself and become the most powerful being in existence so that she may rule over a new age of super-powerful humans, which goes against Ignia’s plan to bring back the age of dragons greater than before. Even when working with Fairy Tail, she is still no less dangerous than before.]]
* BloodFromTheMouth: [[spoiler:After forming her EnemyMine with Fairy Tail, she begins to cough up blood as she repeatedly uses her magic due to how damaged she still is.]]
* CombatPragmatist: [[spoiler:After killing Georg, she admits to the shocked Suzaku that she actually was in trouble against him in her human form, and if Georg truly was much stronger than Suzaku she couldn't afford to play around and so went full-power from the start while Georg was still warming up.]] Needless to say, the [[CurbStompBattle results]] speak for themselves.
* CurbStompBattle:
** Her "fight" with [[spoiler:Georg lasts about as long as Acnologia's with God Serena, and ends as decisively in her favor.]] {{Justified}} in that [[spoiler:she admits that she couldn't afford to play around; Suzaku really did have a good chance of beating her while in her human form, and if Georg truly was much stronger her best chance to get her revenge would be a swift attack at full power in dragon form.]]
** Her following fight with [[spoiler:Kiria ends with her just transporting the Dragon Eater to another dimension and, once the rest of the guild reluctantly swears loyalty, summoning the now-unconscious Dragon Eater back.]]
* {{Determinator}}: [[spoiler:Even a serious injury from Ignia and Dogramag turning out to be alive does nothing to dissuade her from continuing to derail their plans through her scheming. She indirectly causes Dogramag’s true death and (seemingly) fully recovers from her injuries soon after briefly collapsing from overexertion.]]
* DidntSeeThatComing:
** She admits that she didn't actually believe that [[spoiler:Aldoron would be slain after his revival]], but she brushes it off by stating that [[spoiler:the fact he died just proves ultimately he was weak.]]
** She ''definitely'' didn't see [[spoiler:Ignia showing up to crash her "game" in the Great Labyrinth of Dogra]] at all, to the point she's visibly unnerved just viewing him through her magical portal. [[spoiler:She also didn't see the fact ''he'' had already made use of the heart for his own plan, nor did she know that Dogramag was actually alive, though she makes sure they both pay dearly for underestimating her.]]
* DimensionalTraveler: [[spoiler:Mystogan reveals that Selene is an inhabitant of Elentear, the Transcendent Magic World, and has the ability to cross dimensions freely. In fact, she's the reason why Edolas chose to target Earthland with the Anima rather than Elentear, since she would be able to freely attack them in retaliation.]]
* EndOfAnAge: As she herself states, the age of dragons is nearly over, with only holdouts like herself and the other Dragon Gods remaining after the death of Acnologia. [[spoiler:This is what motivates her desire to stand atop the newfound "age of humans" and what puts her in opposition to Ignia, who sees the age of dragons as "[[TheDragonsComeBack just beginning]]".]]
* EnemyMine: [[spoiler:She tasks Fairy Tail with destroying the 71 remaining Dogra Cores in Dogramag’s Labyrinth in order to prevent him from reaching his full power and completely screw over both his and Ignia’s plans. She tells Happy that she’d deal with Dogramag herself if not for her ImpromptuTracheotomy. She’s also willing to give them extra information on how to stop the other Gods along with her after the fight with Dogramag has ended.]]
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: [[spoiler:As it turns out, Kurunugi, the dragon Suzaku consumed the flesh of, was one of her sons, and even though she admits he was far from a good son to her, she still loved him.]]
* EvilIsPetty: Fitting her supremely sadistic nature, Selene will take every opportunity she can twist to the knife with her victims.
* EvilVersusEvil: Ignia and she wish to enact plots that will bring harm to humans, but go about it in different ways (Selene wanting to rule humans while Ignia wants to bring back the world of Dragons). And naturally don't see eye to eye on their methods, resulting in the two fighting it out.
* FanDisservice: She's usually MsFanservice, but the scene where she's [[spoiler:"captured" by Diabolos]] has her half-naked...while covered in injuries and chained up. Then we get to see her human-to-dragon transformation in its full glory as her skin sprouts scales, her fangs and claws grow out, and her body swells with muscle.
* FeatheredDragons: Similar to Grandeeney and Irene, her dragon form has a noticeable feathered/furred appearance, with her "wings" in particular looking more like large ''furred tails''.
* ForTheEvulz: Above everything else, Selene is a sadist, whose primary motivation is inflicting suffering on others just to entertain herself.
** [[spoiler:She forces Faris into a scheme to drain magic from Earthland and use her Whiteout powers on the other Dragon Gods, or Selene will forcibly take over Elentear. She later admits she never expected Faris to actually succeed and instead tricked her into awakening Aldoron rather than controlling him so that the Wood Dragon God would rampage and make things "more interesting" in Earthland, and reveals she's still going to take over Elentear because she recognizes it's a bubbling cauldron of chaos waiting to go off. And the reason she did it all is because the chaos amuses her.]]
** [[spoiler:Later, after she captures Team Natsu, she has all of them save for Natsu and Gray turned into yokai, brainwashes them, and forces them to fight each other simply for entertainment. Later, when the team is fully changed back, she hisses to Yoko that she's bored, and orders her to keep entertaining her.]]
* TheForceIsStrongWithThisOne: When Selene finally gets serious against Suzaku, the force of her full unrestrained magical might can be felt ''across dimensions'' by causing storm surges back in Earthland, which causes the DePowered Mercphobia to note this is her work.
* TheGhost: Not her but her sons who has yet to appear after she revealed to Suzaku that [[spoiler: Kurnugi whom he consumed for Sword Saint Dragon Slayer Magic was one of her sons.]] It did not help that Selene never seemed to bother checking up on them to see if they are alive or not.
* GracefulLoser: Initially appears like that, as while most of her servants are taken aback by the sight of [[spoiler:Aquarius turning Lucy back to normal, Selene is mildly impressed, and is, if anything, more amused by Yoko's reaction. However, after all the others are turned back, she quickly becomes irritated, and orders Yoko to entertain her personally.]]
* GreaterScopeVillain: [[spoiler:She's responsible for Faris using her magic on the guild and on Mercphobia, causing the latter to rampage and the former to fight their own friends, as well as sparking Aldoron's emergence and attempt to destroy Guiltina.]]
* HazyFeelTurn: [[spoiler: After getting near-fatally defeated by Ignia, though only through a ''cheap shot'', and being saved by Fairy Tail, Diabolos, and Irene, she mellows out considerably, and decides to fulfill her goal through a more collaborative process, with the team considering her as being "sealed" through her alliance with them. That being said, she remains unapologetic for her past acts and doesn't offer any justification. She'll also happily kill anyone who comes after her ''first'', though she maintains her agreement with Elefseria and leaves him with a (somewhat ominous) "Farewell, ever-warring one." Her trustworthiness is justifiably still up in the air, though she admits to the guild that they're free to believe what they wish.]]
* HealingFactor: [[spoiler:The injuries Suzaku gave her while she was in human form disappear immediately after she transforms into a dragon. She also heals completely from Ignia’s attacks in a short period of time, revealing that overuse of her magic while severely wounded was what was hurting her even further before then. Although she claims to be dying from the effects of the wound, only time will tell if she’s being truthful, given her tendency to lie constantly. It turns out the effects are real, but Irene uses an enchantment to completely remove it from Selene and onto herself in order to be reborn in another dimension.]]
* HornsOfVillainy: In her dragon form, she has a set of horns shaped like a crescent moon on her brow.
* HumansAreSpecial: [[spoiler:While she scoffs at the idea that a human could truly surpass her, she doesn't deny that humans can indeed reach incredible heights of strength, even admitting that the age of dragons is long over with Acnologia and the Five Dragon Gods being the only hold-overs preventing a "proper" age of man from happening. It's the reason why she chooses to take Diabolos as her new minions and then later has them work together with Fairy Tail, intending for all of them to be her trump card against the other remaining Dragon Gods.]]
* ILetYouWin: [[spoiler:While she did take damage, she fakes how serious her wounds from Suzaku were so he would bring her back to Diabolos, where she could take swift bloody vengeance on Georg.]]
* IRegretNothing: [[spoiler:Although she pulled an EnemyMine with Team Natsu to stop Dogramag and even forged a ceasefire with them afterwards alongside Diabolos, Selene states up front that she doesn't regret any of the actions she pursued or the pain she caused as a result of her plan to obtain the power to defeat her fellow Dragon Gods.]]
* ImpossiblyLowNeckline: She wears her kimono completely off her shoulders.
* ImpromptuTracheotomy: [[spoiler:Ignia blasts a hole through her dragon form's neck during their fight with a fire blast, knocking her down and out as she struggles to even stay conscious. She returns to her human form in order to better manage the injury, briefly blacking out from overuse of her portal powers before fully recovering back at Diabolos’ guild. She claims she will die soon from the injury regardless of her healing, but Irene enchants it off of Selene for good.]]
* ItAmusedMe: Her self-stated reason for doing ''anything'' is in the hopes it'll amuse and entertain her. Unfortunately for everyone else, there's really no limit to how far she'll go to stay amused. [[spoiler:Not even her own minions are immune to this, as when Yoko's Youkai transformation on Lucy is countered and reversed by Aquarius bringing the memories of their past interactions to the forefront (and slapping the crap out of her), Selene is intrigued and impressed by how something like emotions can at times overcome pure power while Yoko can only mutter in shock at how this is impossible.]]
* ItsAllAboutMe: All she cares about is her own personal amusement. And if untold numbers of people or alternate worlds have to suffer for it, so be it. [[spoiler:As she tells Diabolos, her ultimate goal is to be the strongest "human" in the world with all her fellow rivals to the title dead and/or gone.]]
* KickTheDog: One of her preferred pastimes.
** [[spoiler:First she maims Faris, noting how the homeland of Elentear that Faris was trying to save was "already destroyed", and that Selene was just using her to take control of the other Dragon Gods so she can do the same to Earthland.]]
** [[spoiler:She has Natsu and Gray transported down to the caves below Black Moon Mountain, where she reveals that she had Yoko transform their friends into monstrous yokai. As she watches Natsu take on Lucy (transformed into a [[SnakePeople nure-onna]]), she gleefully expresses her anticipation to see Natsu tortured by the experience.]]
* KimonoFanservice: Her choice of attire is a furred kimono that shows off her shapely breasts and legs.
* KlingonPromotion: [[spoiler:After killing Georg, she states she supposes that makes her the new guild master of Diabolos and awaits any objections. Kiria tries, gets dealt with easily, and the rest reluctantly bend the knee.]]
* KneelBeforeZod: Demands [[spoiler:the assembled Dragon Eaters]] to kneel before her while flexing her BattleAura. [[spoiler:[[BloodKnight Kiria]] doesn't take the hint and [[CurbStompBattle gets wrecked]] when she tries to attack Selene.]]
* LightIsNotGood: She dresses in light and white clothing, has white hair, and her magic involves the manipulation of a form of light, yet she's one of the more malevolent Dragon Gods.
* {{Lunacy}}: Her powers as a dragon revolve around this, with a combination of StarPower. When she first appears before Natsu and company, she forcibly turns day to night in order to make the moon appear above her to unleash an attack/[[spoiler:teleportation spell]], and when it's over it's daytime again. Later still she shows the ability to unleash [[PlayingWithFire fire]] and [[ShapingYourAttacks butterfly-shaped paper dolls]] out of lunar energy (and molded the latter out of the former attack's scattered remnants), and when she [[LetsGetDangerous gets serious]] ''the actual moon grows in size'' (meaning she's either causing it to expand with her magic, or she's drawing it closer to the planet) and she can fire [[SwordBeam lunar energy blades]] and massive detonations of moonlight magic.
* MeaningfulName: She's named after the [[ReligiousAndMythologicalThemeNaming Greek Goddess of the Moon]].
* MeetTheNewBoss: [[spoiler:After killing Georg, she takes over Diabolos and orders them to hunt down Elefseria.]]
* MoreDeadlyThanTheMale: She is the only female of the Dragon Gods, [[spoiler:and also the most manipulative and cunning, given she manipulated the White Mage/Faris into awakening Aldoron and seems quite happy at watching her fellow Dragon God rampage about regardless of who gets hurt. Indeed, after Aldoron's death she only expresses amusement at that fact and disappointment the White Mage proved so uninteresting. That's all ''before'' she flat-out admits watching the world drown in chaos and distortion is her idea of a good time. She then kills Diabolos' guild master and makes herself its new leader.]]
* MsFanservice: Her human form has a beautiful face, large breasts, long legs, and the [[KimonoFanservice clothing]] to accentuate all of it.
* NakedOnArrival: Her first scene has her naked while relaxing in a spring.
* NotAfraidToDie: [[spoiler: She tells Irene that she's lived a long life and is willing to accept that, should the injury from her fight with Ignia claim her life, so be it. Irene, however, points out that Selene's face was full of hope regarding getting to live in a changed world as the most powerful human even after receiving her seemingly fatal wound, indicating that she did not truly wish to give up, so Irene makes Selene's wound vanish from her body… and instead make its mark on Irene.]]
* NotSoDifferentRemark: She points out the similarities between Elefseria and herself. Aside from them both wanting the other Dragon Gods removed as threats, she also snaps regarding the double standards with [[spoiler:her killing humans as being wrong but Elefseria killing dragons as being right.]]
** [[spoiler: Irene sees Selene as this to herself. Irene used to live as the benevolent ruler of a kingdom where dragons and humans were at peace, and she wishes for Selene to create a similar world no matter what it takes.]]
* OhCrap: [[spoiler:She's visibly unnerved when Ignia suddenly shows up out of nowhere during her "game" in the Great Labyrinth of Dogra, wondering whether he knows the truth about the labyrinth. It shakes her up so much she quickly calls off her "game" and goes to confront Ignia herself, only to get an even bigger one when Ignia not only reveals he knows its secret, he's been using Elefseria's heart for his own plan and then [[NoMacGuffinNoWinner torches it to deny her]] the option of using it herself. She has another moment when Dogramag reveals himself to be alive and working with Ignia.]]
* OrcusOnHerThrone: She declines to actually involve herself in much fighting when she can avoid it, choosing to let her minions do the fighting for her, while she watches and has a drink. [[spoiler: This ends up costing her when she sends both Fairy Tail and Diabolos to fetch her the heart of Elefseria for her own entertainment when she could do it herself, only to be blindsided when Ignia shows up, gets to the heart first and then [[NoMacGuffinNoWinner burns it to deny her the opportunity to use it herself.]]]]
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Her draconic form is much more in the vein of Eastern dragons, with a long, sleek form, fur going down her body, and a series of fox-tails in place of wings.
* PerpetualSmiler: She is barely ever seen with a smile of some sort on her face, which can vary from amused, to affable, to downright maniacal.
* PetTheDog: She lets Elefseria’s crow friend leave the area unharmed before heading off to face Ignia. [[spoiler:She also holds Happy’s hand and uses Aqua Aera to open a portal to all his fellow guild mates, giving them a fighting chance to survive by tasking them with destroying the Cores powering the labyrinth and its creator. She even wishes for the two guilds to work together to help her destroy the other Gods.]]
** [[spoiler:In the brief time she gets to know Irene, she takes a shine to her and even asks her if there is any way for her to transfer Selene's internal injury to someone deserving of it rather than Irene herself, which unfortunately there isn't.]]
* PragmaticVillainy: [[spoiler:She is not at all bothered with using Diabolos as a tool in her quest to destroy the other Dragon Gods, nor does she have a problem with telling her own enemies (Fairy Tail) how to contribute to the task themselves, especially when it means screwing over Ignia and Dogramag. She even gets both guilds to work together and follow her instructions.]]
* PrettyInMink: She wears a kimono with fur lining on the top.
* PsychopathicWomanchild: While possessing a regal attitude on top of her sheer power and cunning, Selene is also a being who feels entitled to what she wants and would happily make others suffer if she thought it could amuse her. She forces Natsu and Gray to fight their brainwashed Youkai-transformed friends and complains at how [[AntiClimax Wendy wrapped things up so quickly]] before ordering her subordinates to "entertain" her by fighting them. She is capable of restraining herself, however, as shown by how [[spoiler:she restrains herself from just killing Suzaku so she could be brought back to Diabolos in order to kill Georg in revenge for her son's death, as well as how she simply non-lethally deals with Kiria and calmly explains her motives to Diabolos when she takes over the guild.]]
* PunchCatch: She's more than capable of catching Natsu's on-fire fist with her bare hand.
* {{Sadist}}: Her defining trait; she is always looking for new ways to torment people.
* ShamelessFanserviceGirl: Has no problem bathing naked in front of a captive Natsu and Gray. Though, being a dragon in human form, the concept of clothing is rather foreign to her. She even sits in the bath with members of Fairy Tail and Diabolos and even has Elefseria join in.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: The sole female amongst the Dragon Gods, and one of the only female dragons confirmed aside from Grandeeney.
* StakingTheLovedOne: [[spoiler:She and Yoko forced Natsu and Gray into this situation following turning their friends into {{Yokai}}, thinking they would probably have no choice but to kill them to survive no matter how much grief it would give them. Of course, then [[SpannerInTheWorks Aquarius]] shows up, saves Lucy, and then tricks Wendy into curing herself and allowing her to fix everyone else.]]
* SuddenlyShouting: [[spoiler:She gets extremely emotional when Elefseria scoffs at being compared to her for killing innocent dragons while she has done the same with innocent humans. She raises her voice and asks the whole room why it should only be okay for humans to butcher dragons.]]
* SuperReflexes: She's the first person to outright dodge [[MasterSwordsman Suzaku's]] SingleStrokeBattle in the first exchange to his shock. For the record, [[spoiler:Natsu didn't even see it coming, and Erza could barely react and (fail) to block it.]]
* TakeOverTheWorld: [[spoiler:Her major goal is this, deciding that since Aldoron couldn't cut it she'll do the job herself. According to Faris, she also intends to ''destroy'' the dimension of Elentear. Zigzagged, in that she doesn’t want to so much ‘rule’ things, as constantly throw things into chaos to be entertained. She finally admits to Diabolos that her "true" goal is to stand atop the world as the most most powerful being within it.]]
* ThisCannotBe: [[spoiler:When she witnesses Dogramag emerge alive and well from beneath the Labyrinth floor.]]
* TranquilFury:
** [[spoiler:After Team Natsu manages to overcome her sick game and the girls and Exceeds are changed back from their yokai forms, she's visibly displeased but remains otherwise calm and orders Yoko to handle it personally.]]
** [[spoiler: After Suzaku reveals that he has consumed Kurnugi to obtain Sword Saint Dragon Slayer Magic, she calmly reveals to him that Kurnugi was her son before attacking Suzaku.]]
** [[spoiler:After getting over her shock at Ignia [[NoMacGuffinNoWinner torching Elefseria's heart]], her demeanor shifts back to a deadly calm as he gloats over how he no longer needs it for his and Dogramag's "plan", and stays there as she assumes her dragon form to fight him to the death]].
* UncertainDoom: [[spoiler:She tells Elefseria that her injuries will claim her life soon, however, given that she is an extremely good liar, only time will tell if she is being truthful.]]
** [[spoiler:Later, Selene has her wound healed by Irene transferring the injury to herself; proving that she was telling the truth in this instance]].
* UnreliableNarrator: Gray complains that it’s far too difficult to take her at her word for her supposed goals, those being that she simply wants to enjoy her drink under the moonlight as the most powerful human alive when all her fellow Dragon Gods are removed from the equation. She even admits that he can believe whatever he wants. Only Selene herself knows the truth and the real answers behind her actions.
** [[spoiler:Selene claims to be dying from the neck wound she received, saying that injuries dragons give each other are permanent. However, given that she’s lied many times before and WordOfGod said on Twitter that Selene would be "fine", it seems as though seeing her die would be the only real way to confirm her words. Turns out both cases are true, as Irene proves the wound to be real by transferring it to herself, and thus Selene will indeed be "fine", after all.]]
* VillainExitStageLeft: [[spoiler:After Suzaku catches her off-guard, he badly wounds her, and she retreats to another world with him in tow, leaving the Fairy Tail members behind to deal with the rampaging Hands. It's later revealed, though, that she deliberately threw the fight, so she could be brought before Georg, and kill him herself.]]
* VillainRespect: She claims that [[spoiler:she might not have stood a chance against Suzaku's ultimate technique involving the combined power and skills of both himself and Kurunugi, one of her sons. Since she healed effortlessly in a near-instant from that attack [[ILetYouWin once she was positioned in the right place,]] however, it's hard to say whether or not she's being truthful, especially when considering that Dogramag in his human form took absolutely no damage from Suzaku despite being the weakest of the Dragon Gods and BroughtDownToBadass.]]
* WalkingSpoiler: Her role in the story, as TheWomanBehindTheMan, and what she ends up doing to Team Natsu and Diabolos makes her fall into this.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: As she tells Gray, Selene (possibly) genuinely wants a world without dragons to make it a peaceful place devoid of their terror. However, she initially takes a violent, merciless, selfish and even sadistic approach to achieve her agenda as well as doing it for personal entertainment. It isn't until seeing how strong Fairy Tail is and a near-death beating that Selene decides that this guild could help her do what she fell short in achieving without them. When Gray expresses [[NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist doubt and the possibility of her being an]] UnreliableNarrator, given that she is a huge fan of playing KickTheDog and committing atrocities ForTheEvulz, she admits he's free to believe what he wants.
* WeWillMeetAgain: Says that she will see Fairy Tail and Elefseria very soon after she hunts down Athena with the assistance of Diabolos.
* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman: {{Discussed|Trope}} when [[spoiler:she and Elefseria meet after the ceasefire. When Elefseria tries holding her accountable for the innocent people the Dragon Gods killed, Selene rebukes him by reminding everyone that humans weren't the ''only'' innocents killed, ''dragons'' were too, and yet somehow it's okay for innocent dragons to be killed, but who had the right to decide that?]] Her claims aren't presented as unfounded either, as this doubles a MythologyGag to [[spoiler:Irene's backstory. It was the pro-humanity Dragons like Irene's adopted father Belserion who taught humans how to use Dragon Slayer Magic, and while just as many died defending humans, once Acnologia began his rampage, humanity turned on them too, even imprisoning and attempting to execute Irene when the Dragon Seed in her nearly turned her into a Dragon.]]
* WorldsStrongestWoman: As the sole female Dragon God along with being able to rival the other Dragon Gods and Acnologia, she is the most powerful woman in all the worlds by an extreme margin, even amplifying the moon to gargantuan proportions in Elentear and causing her power to be felt across all worlds as the tides on Earth-Land go crazy and everything begins to distort.
* TheWomanBehindTheMan: [[spoiler:She is the one who told the White Mage/Faris that she can gain Aldoron's power by destroying the five orbs in the cities on his body, omitting the fact that the orbs were actually ''seals'' on his magic that he set up himself to help with ancient injuries of his, and with their destruction, he can now awaken fully and unleash his power upon the land. It's then revealed by Faris that Selene is the one responsible for setting her on her mission to Earthland in the first place to take control of the other Dragon Gods to save her own dimension of Elentear, thus making Selene one of the central antagonists of ''100 Years Quest'' through her direct and indirect actions]].
* WorthyOpponent:
** She acknowledges that Natsu is worthy of her time and of his status as Ignia's brother [[spoiler:after slaying Aldoron]].
** She later acknowledges Suzaku for his strength [[spoiler:as well as having the power of one of her sons]], admitting that [[spoiler:if they fought solely while she was in human form, he could likely come out the victor (though it’s unclear if she’s being truthful considering how good of an actress she has proven to be before).]]
** [[spoiler:Selene calmly states that dying in battle against Ignia is a possibility, even for her, however she's the only one in the area who can do the same to him.]]
* WoundThatWillNotHeal: [[spoiler:After being grievously injured by Ignia in battle, Selene is on death's door as she works to rally everyone available to take out Dogramag's cores. She appears to heal after the conflict, but states that wounds inflicted by a dragon will never heal and her demise is imminent. Then Irene steps in to save her so she can build the ideal world they both desire… at the cost of Irene's existence in this dimension.]]
* YouKilledMyFather: Inverted. [[spoiler:One of her sons, Kurunugi, was killed by Georg, and upon realizing that Suzaku absorbed his power, Selene deceives him into bring her to Georg, so she can kill him.]]
* YouSeeImDying: [[spoiler:She apparently believes her neck wound will still take her life, but as she is known for being an UnreliableNarrator, the truth about her potential fate remains a mystery. It turns out that the internal wound itself is still real, but Irene gets rid of it for Selene.]]

!!Viernes
[[quoteright:935:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nw2nos_1.jpg]]

The Gold Dragon God, an individual beyond normal comprehension. His influence looms over Gold Owl, its alchemy, and a nebulous scheme to capture wizards and assimilate their magic power.
----
* AscendToAHigherPlaneOfExistence: [[spoiler:While Viernes did once possess a physical body as confirmed by Elefseria, he has since transcended it in his goal to become a concept, now acting through proxies such as the guild of Gold Owl and its master Duke.]]
* AttackBackfire: [[spoiler:What ultimately does Viernes in. Seeing Natsu shooting straight at him to stop his [[TheMagicTouch massive landscape-altering gold transmutation]], Viernes unleashes his BreathWeapon... but instead of his usual gold laser, it's ''golden flames'' courtesy of Athena [[FightingFromTheInside acting inside of him]]. Natsu devours said flames and uses this PowerUp to land the finishing blow.]]
* BigBadEnsemble: [[spoiler:As he is a sentient concept, he essentially ''is'' the guild of Gold Owl and its master Duke, which puts him in the spotlight during the Gold Owl arc, which is also the Gold Dragon God arc.]]
* BuildLikeAnEgyptian: Unusually, Viernes distinctively brings to mind the aesthetics of Ancient Egypt, resembling a sphinx statue and sporting what looks like a nemes headdress on his head.
* CombatPragmatist: [[spoiler:When Natsu powered up on his allies' magic manages to land some meaningful damage, Viernes decides to forgo any direct clash and just use a widespread [[TheMagicTouch gold transmutation]] on his surroundings in order to trap his enemies to kill or at least render them helpless without any chance of them fighting back. Were it not for [[FightingFromTheInside Athena's interference]] helping Natsu beat him before it could be finished, it likely would have worked.]]
* DraconicAbomination: According to [[spoiler:Selene]], Viernes is an exceptional existence even among dragons. Specifically, he's a [[spoiler:''concept'', a dragon that exists yet also doesn't, to the point it's impossible to defeat him through pure brute force and why she wanted the legendary dragon-slaying weapons.]]
* TheGhost: The one Dragon God that took the longest to appear in person. To emphasis how much he's this, [[spoiler:the supposedly deceased ''sixth'' Dragon God Dogramag makes a physical appearance before him.]]
* HolyHalo: His dragon form has this but, since Selene describes him to be a threat to humanity alongside Ignia, he might be the case of LightIsNotGood.
* LogicalWeakness: [[spoiler: While he's tough enough to withstand Natsu's brute force easily, his golden armor makes him weak to both heat and electricity, [[PlotTailoredToTheParty making Natsu's Fire and Lightning Dragon Slayer Magic combo extremely efficient]] against him.]]
* TheMagicTouch: Viernes's magic power/alchemy as the Gold Dragon God gives him the ability to turn what he touches into gold, shoot beams of light out his mouth that change objects to gold on contact, and conjure gold coins in a rain of money. His ultimate attack essentially is just him applying this power on a massive scale by flying high into the sky and [[HostileTerraforming transmuting everything beneath him into gold]]. A reaction shot shows an ''entire mountain range'' beginning to rapidly get covered by his gold and spreading further.
* MeaningfulName: His name means "Friday" in [[GratuitousSpanish Spanish]], which is doubly meaningful as in Chinese and Japanese Friday translates to "Gold/Metal's Day".
* MetalMuncher: As dragons can consume their element for a power up or nutrition, it's all but certain Viernes can chow down on gold.
* SuperToughness: [[spoiler:Being made of solid gold metal, he can shrug off a punch from Natsu simply by having armored skin too rugged to harm and causing pain to reverberate through Natsu's arm. It takes the combined magic of his strongest friends from Fairy Tail, Sabertooth, as well as Jellal all enchanted onto Natsu to break through Viernes's scales, and even then Viernes remains standing [[DeathGlare and pissed off]] despite the backlash of Natsu's fire obliterating many of Viernes' golden constructs as a side-effect of his strikes. It takes ''another'' power-up courtesy of Athena giving Natsu more fire magic to eat to give him the strength to finally land a critical blow on Viernes.]]
* YourHeadAsplode: [[spoiler:Natsu powered up on the magic of his allies and a last-minute extra assist by Athena blows Viernes' head and upper neck to golden pieces with a Fire Dragon King's Demolishing Strike.]]

[[caption-width-right:250:[[labelnote:Click here to see his human appearance]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2022_05_23_0pa_kleki_4.png[[/labelnote]]]]

The allegedly deceased Earth Dragon slain by Elefseria whose body in death created the Great Labyrinth of Dogra. It's later revealed that his "death" is faked. Dogramag sealed his life force into Elefseria's heart for over a century, and returned to life when Elefseria was near death. Once reawakened, the God Dragon expressed his brother-like connection to Ignia, as the two have been working on a secret plan to recreate the world.
----
* AchillesHeel: [[spoiler:Selene notes that in order for Dogramag to create, expand, and maintain the Labyrinth, he needed to store his power into magic stones that were then embedded into various spots of the place. These stones also strengthen and maintain his power, so in theory destroying them will cripple him. The catch is that, even discounting the ones he reabsorbed to remake his body, there are ''72'' of them hidden and scattered throughout miles of earth, when for reference Gajeel only came across one by random chance. It's only the fact [[SpaceMaster Selene]] is on their side that the heroes can hope to reach them in any viable time limit.]]
* AmbiguouslyBrown: In his human form, he is one of the few dark-skinned characters in the series.
* BeardOfEvil: His human form has a sharp-looking beard.
* BloodKnight: He is eager to fight Natsu and see his strength after learning about him through Elefseria's heart but concedes with Ignia to not kill him.
* BroughtDownToBadass: [[spoiler:He explains to Natsu that he can't use his powers for now after he just woke up, but confidently states that he is more than capable of fighting him in his human form. He goes further to state this is actually better than how he was shortly after he first revived from his death by Elefseria, BroughtDownToNormal and only alive thanks to Elefseria's stolen heart.]]
* {{Conlang}}: Unlike other Dragon Slayer spells, his Earth Dragon God spells use a seemingly fictional language.
* DishingOutDirt: Dogramag was the Earth Dragon God, and even in death his power is great enough to create the [[TheMaze ever-expanding Great Labyrinth of Dogra]] from his ''corpse'' beneath the earth.
* TheDreaded: Elefseria is visibly unnerved when he learns that Diabolos is going after him in the Great Labyrinth, though this has less to do with fear of the dragon himself than what they could do with his corpse (as well as Elefseria's own heart).
* DreadlockWarrior: His human form has long flowing dreadlocks.
* EatDirtCheap: As dragons can consume their element for a power up or nutrition, it's all but certain Dogramag could consume earth.
* ElementalPunch: His Earth Dragon God Ga Merujio has him encasing his arm in a gigantic stone gauntlet and use it to deliver a devastating punch.
* FakingTheDead: [[spoiler:DoubleSubverted. While Elefseria was convinced he killed him, and Dogramag actually ''did'' die from their battle, taking Elefseria's heart before he expired allowed him to revive and so the dragon proceeded to fake his apparent death for the next century in order to use it for his and Ignia's (the only other Dragon God who knew the truth) plan.]]
* GeniusLoci: [[spoiler:Selene elaborates after Dogramag reveals he's alive that the Labyrinth of Dogra ''itself'' is an extension of his body to some extent, expanded and maintained via spreading magic stones ("Dogra Cores") containing his power throughout its structure, which he had to do in order to recover his strength from his battle with Elefseria. When he reformed his main body, he reabsorbed several of the stones but left others in their spots.]]
* TheGhost: This 6th Dragon has yet to appear due to being dead for over a century. [[spoiler:Until he turns out to have been FakingTheDead for over a century.]]
* {{Golem}}: Constructs created from the earth that makes up the labyrinth prowl its halls, and they are NighInvulnerable as a result. The only reliable way to defeat them is to somehow pull apart their bodies to [[AttackItsWeakPoint destroy the magic cores powering them]].
* LoadBearingBoss: [[spoiler:To emphasize that he's ''truly'' dead, not only does his [[NoBodyLeftBehind body crumble]], but the entire Labyrinth goes with him in an earthquake felt across the continent.]]
* MadeOfIndestructium: The labyrinth's walls supposedly can't be broken down with sheer force, and it's proven when Natsu fails to break down a relatively thin wall that's currently trapped Lucy by the waist despite wailing the hell out of it with only some marks to show for it. Later still, Virgo comments that she can't drill a hole through the ground because there's a special magic that's permeating the whole place. The {{Golem}}s within the labyrinth are made of the same material and possess similar protection. Natsu and Lucy are only able to destroy one because its body was effected by the transmutive effects of Haku's doll transformation. So far, only a being with power on par or surpassing Dogramag's own such as fellow Dragon God Ignia has managed to visibly destroy these walls outright.
* TheMaze: The Great Labyrinth of Dogra was created due to Dogramag's Magic Power going out-of-control in death and, due to his [[DishingOutDirt particular power]], creating an ever-expanding maze underground that many adventurers lost their way in with no way out, but his corpse and Elefseria's heart still remain deep within. The labyrinth is filled with various traps and seems to bend around its passages on its own, but most dangerous is the fact that the earth that makes up its passages is saturated with a special magic that makes them [[MadeOfIndestructium impossible to destroy]] and there prowl {{Golem}}s with similar NighInvulnerable forms. [[spoiler:Even after it's revealed he's alive, Selene makes note that the labyrinth still exists because [[GeniusLoci it's actually an extension of him]], and in fact was partially how he survived his death.]]
* MeaningfulName: Dogramag's name seemingly comes from the 1935 Japanese novel ''Dogura Magura'', which narrates the story of man who awakens in a hospital after many years of coma.
* MyDeathIsOnlyTheBeginning:
** Despite being killed by Elefseria, from his corpse his Magic Power still remained and created the [[TheMaze Great Labyrinth]]. Even Elefseria admits he doesn't know if Dogramag somehow planned this or if this was simply a side-effect of his incredible Earth Dragon Slayer magic. According to Ignia, it was the former, and even tearing out Elefseria's heart and storing it in the Labyrinth was all in service to a plan the two Dragon Gods had conspired over. [[spoiler:And then it's double-subverted in that Dogramag [[FakingTheDead just pretended to still be dead]] after he revived from his actual death at Elefseria's hands.]]
** [[spoiler:Played straight as he dies for real, for he takes the time to tell Natsu and Suzaku that the seeds of his and Ignia's plan are still set and the "Age of Humans" is still doomed.]]
* NoBodyLeftBehind: Just as his body was formed from earth and rock, [[spoiler:when he dies for real it crumbles apart. And then the ''whole Labyrinth'' which could be considered an extension of his body [[LoadBearingBoss goes with him]].]]
* OneExtraMember: This Dragon is the sixth member of the Five Dragon Gods but he isn't counted because Elefseria himself killed him long ago and sealed the remains within the Great Labyrinth that sprung up after his death.
* OnlyFriend: With Ignia. The Fire Dragon God standing before Elefseria's heart notes that Dogramag had used it to advance ThePlan even in death and refers to him respectfully as his one true friend. [[spoiler:Dogramag returns the sentiment when he reveals he's alive, cheerfully greeting Ignia like two life-long buddies who hadn't seen each other in years. Even in his dying moments, he expresses confidence Ignia will finish the plan.]]
* ScarsAreForever: [[spoiler:His human form has a massive scar in the center of his chest, presumably from his fight with Elefseria.]]
* ScaryBlackMan: His human form is larger and more intimidating compared to Natsu whom he intends to battle with.
* SealedEvilInACan: Elefseria sealed the entrance to the Great Labyrinth to prevent adventurers from wandering inside and either stumbling upon his corpse or keeping them safe from getting lost and dying within its halls.
* ToServeMan: Dogramag reveals that he is one of the Dragons that saw humans as food and admitted to have consumed the blood of numerous humans that wandered inside his labyrinth for years. He even threatens Natsu that if he chose to go after Ignia than fight him, he will kill and eat his friends.
* VillainousBreakdown: Very low key, but at first he's confident and relaxed when preparing to take on Natsu and Suzaku. [[spoiler: Upon realizing that his Dogra Cores have been destroyed and now is more vulnerable to the point that Suzaku can slice through his earth, Dogramag decides he had enough and turns into his Dragon form in an attempt to end the battle here and there.]]
* WalkingShirtlessScene: His human form has no shirt after transforming to prepare himself to fight Natsu.
* WalkingSpoiler: Simply ''mentioning'' this dragon reveals there were more than just five Dragon Gods, and talking about his role in the story spoils both Selene taking over Diabolos for her own ends and Ignia's goals beyond just being Natsu's FinalBoss. [[spoiler:The fact this dragon is actually ''alive'' simply sends this trope into overdrive.]]
