* AbledInTheAdaptation: In canon, she lost her right hand prior to travelling to the past. Here, she has both hands, though she noticeably still doesn't have Fairy Tail's emblem on her right hand. This is due to all of her magical power being drained to power the Eclipse Gate, causing it to vanish.
* BlemishedBeauty: When Jellal and Crime Sorciere find her and remove her robe, her body is shown to have cracks all over it, and Ultear notes that her skin is extremely dry, like all the moisture was sucked out of it. !Other Official Guilds
!!Lamia Scale
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lamia_scale_profile_pic.png]]
Lamia Scale is one of the legal guilds in Fiore, being it's third best in the country. Led by its Guild Master, Ooba Babasaama.

[[folder:InGeneral]]
* AdaptationalWimp: Downplayed, as while they're still placed high in the Grand Magic Games, they have less points than they do in canon, notably due to their performances in the battle portions. In canon, Jura's match with Mystogan/Jellal ended in a victory due to Ultear and Meredy interfering to keep Jellal's cover from being blown, while here his match with Nero ends in a draw, giving him only five points. And while Sherria's match with Wendy ended in a draw in canon, here she loses the match due to Wendy receiving more training, as well as fighting smart. This continues as they are defeated by Mermaid Heel in the team fight while in canon they managed a draw (if only barely), since Mermaid Heel came at them with ''all three'' of their S-Class Wizards while they only had a comparable fighter in Lyon with Yuka and Sho acting more as his support.
* TheCavalry: In the Devil Hand Arc they help Fairy Tail members against the hordes of demons together with Blue Pegasus.
* CurbStompCushion: Thanks to Yuka's Wave Magic and Sho's Card Magic they manage to at least temporarily get the upper hand against Mermaid Heel (who's coming at them with ''all three'' of their top S-Class wizards), but once the former gets taken down things go swiftly downhill for them, and even Lyon's impressive final attack was meant more as [[DoNotGoGentle defiance]] than actually intending to win. By the end, they failed to even significantly injure one of their opponents.
* MythicalMotifs: A Lamia is a creature from Greek mythology descending from the mythological figure of Lamia, known for her female upper body topping a serpentine tail and her habit of devouring children.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ooba Babasaama]]
[[quoteright:220:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ooba-ftanime_6457.jpg]]

The Guild Master of Lamia Scale, she's an old crabby lady who spins around and makes others spin when she's annoyed.
----
* FanDisservice: Just as canon, she crashes Mira and Jenny's swimsuit contest with her own entry... much to the disgust of everyone else... Dante even went so far as to shoot himself in the head! [[GoodThingYouCanHeal Lady shrugged, saying that he'll be fine]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lyon Vastia]]
[[quoteright:122:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ft_lyon_anime.png]]

A top Ice-Make wizard who studied together with Gray.
----
* {{Determinator}}: Refuses to give up even when facing down Mermaid Heel's three strongest members by himself, one of whom can eat the element he uses, conjuring one of the most impressive displays of Ice-Make (no less than nine life-sized animal constructs) he's ever done and even briefly getting the physical upper-hand on [[spoiler:Sapphire, a [[KungFuWizard Dragon Slayer]]]]. Though everyone knows he's screwed, they give him points for going down standing up rather than just giving up.
* {{Foil}}: At the end of the Devil Hand arc, Juvia notices that Lyon looks like Vergil, with Macao and Wakaba noticing that both of them have pointed eyes and the same spiky-hair style. Gray agrees with them as he also remembers Lyon having the same beliefs on strength as Vergil back on Galuna Island, and acted as a rival to his foster brother who is a member of Fairy Tail. The difference being that Lyon came to sincerely regret his actions and turned over a new leaf by joining Lamia Scale, whereas Vergil shows little to no remorse for what he has done in pursuit of power.
* {{Golem}}: His Living Ice Make technique grants him the power to create living ice animals that he can control remotely, including dragons, tigers, and gorillas.
* HopelessSuitor: He is this to Juvia, who is already in love with Gray. Most of his gestures toward Juvia only creep her out.
* AnIcePerson: Can create creatures out of his ice that moves on their own.
* LoveAtFirstSight: He first sees Juvia during the Devil Hand Arc, much earlier than in canon (where he did it during the end of the Tenrou Arc), before the seven-year time skip.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Sherry Blendy]]
[[quoteright:225:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sherry2-ftanime_5270.jpg]]

A member of Lamia Scale, a love-obsessed woman that uses Doll magic to control lifeless objects to serve her.
----
* CatEaredHeadband: Wears one as part of her post-Time Skip outfit.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: Goes from GirlishPigtails to LettingHerHairDown between her appearances in the Galuna Island and Nirvana arcs sort of as a coming-of-age thing.
* LadyofBlackMagic: She is essentially a very beautiful witch capable of taking control of the body of all non-human creatures and animating any inanimate object to transform it into a monster that will fully obey her orders.
* LoveFreak: "Love" is practically her Catchphrase as she uses it in totally bizarre situations, such as using "love" instead of "death" to describe "eternal rest". Oh yeah, she even tried to with [[TheCasanova Dante]] which he likes.
* MarionetteMaster: Her Marionette Attack Magic lets her control anything that isn't human, which includes material things like carpets and rocks to living beings like trees.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Yuka Suzuki]]
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ft_yuka_anime.png]]

A wizard with large eyebrows who uses his Wave Motion spells to produce magic-negating pulses from his hands.
----
* AntiMagic: His Wave Motion instantly nullifies any magic it makes contact with. The only catch is that it is only effective against one type of magic at a time, so it's useless on groups of wizards with differing abilities. It was shown in the ''Let's Welcome Chaos'' chapter that it also works on demonic energies as well.
* BigOlEyebrows: His defining features are his freakishly huge eyebrows. They get even longer after the Time Skip.
* ReverseArmFold: Has his arms in this position most of the time.
* TookALevelInBadass: ''Dogs and Pegasi - Lamia and Mermaids'' reveals that over the course of the timeskip he improved his [[AntiMagic Wave Magic]] to the point where he can nullify the magic and demonic power of several enemies at once, actually putting Mermaid Heel's strongest members on the defensive.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Toby Olorta]]
[[quoteright:133:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ft_toby_anime.png]]

A dimwitted man who dresses and behaves like a dog. He can grow his nails into the Mega Jellyfish Paralyzing Claws which, well, paralyze people.
----
* BashBrothers: Usually fights alongside Yuka.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Just to give an example of how dim this guy is, he spends three whole months looking for a sock that was hung around his neck the whole time.
* DogsAreDumb: He looks like a dog and boy is he dumb. When he use his [[WolverineClaws claws]] on some demons that were holding some explosions, he used paralyzing magic to paralyze the demons, making them drop the bombs, resulting in an explosion, in which he is surprised that he could that, only for Yuka to correct him which the former comically shock by it.
* DumbMuscle: Toby is rather dimwitted, and works best by assisting Yuka in taking down their foes.
* HairTriggerTemper: Toby sometimes gets mad for no apparent reason.
* NoIndoorVoice: Prone to screaming, especially once he gets mad.
* TheParalyzer: His poison-tipped claws have this effect on his enemies.
* WolverineClaws: His magic lets him grow out his fingernails into sharp claws, which are coated in a poison that paralyzes opponents.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Jura Neekis]]
[[quoteright:199:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ft_jura_anime.png]]

Lamia Scale's strongest wizard and eighth-ranked (currently sixth) Wizard Saint, he's a powerful wizard nicknamed "Iron Rock Jura".
----
* AdaptationalWimp: Jura's still on the lower end of the scale to the other Wizard Saints as 6th rank, while in canon he overtook all but the oldest members post-time skip as 5th rank, holding the title of "Strongest Human Wizard".
* BaldMystic: He's a powerful wizard with a beautiful, bald head. Of course, he's pretty self-conscious about it,
* BigDamnHeroes: He, along with fellow wizard saint Makarov and Fairy Tail's strongest wizard Gildarts, saved the exhausted members of his Lamia Scale, as well as Fairy Tail and Blue Pegasus, by destroying the demon hordes in the Devil Hand Arc.
* GentleGiant: Despite being tall and a bit intimidating, Jura is very kind and humble.
* RedBaron: "Iron Rock" Jura.
* TimePassageBeard: He grows a beard over the Time Skip.
* YellowEarthGreenEarth: "Iron Rock" Jura is a wizard who specializes in Earth Magic and most of his spells have a yellow aura.
* WorthyOpponent: After the match with Nero, the two develop mutual respect for each other's capabilities, with the two hoping to have a rematch in the future.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Shô]]
[[quoteright:323:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sho.jpg]]

One of Erza's three childhood friends whom she met in the Tower of Heaven. He joins Lamia Scale during the seven-year time skip.
----
* AdaptationExpansion: In canon he and Wally kinda... disappear from the plot after the Tower of Heaven arc. Here they reappear as soon as the first chapter of the sequel. And he's a member of Lamia Scale.
* BigSisterWorship: He's not related to Erza by blood, but he is nonetheless inspired by her incredible display of power and leadership during their original insurrection, and always refers to her as "sister" or "sis".
* DeathDealer: Sho's magic involves the use of cards, either as prison dimensions or projectiles. He is also fittingly introduced while disguised as a casino dealer. His Magic has been also expanded so that his spell attacks are based on poker cards.
* FacialMarkings: Has a snake-shaped tattoo on the left side of his chin.
* MrExposition: It was him, as well as Wally and Millianna that told Erza about Jellal's escape.
* WeakButSkilled: His [[DeathDealer Card Magic]] doesn't stand out in terms of raw power, and he is at a clear disadvantage in his fight against Kagura, [[BroughtDownToBadass even with her magic sealed]]. Nevertheless, his magic gives him plenty of versatility, and using a well timed distraction alongside his card prison briefly lets him take [[TheAce Kagura]] out of a fight.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Sherria Blendy]]
[[quoteright:138:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ft_sherria_anime.png]]

Sherry's younger, clumsier cousin. A teenage prodigy, she is a Sky God Slayer with mastery over wind and healing magic.
----
* BlowYouAway: She conjures black winds with her magic.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Her God Slayer Magic unleashes black-colored winds, but Sherria is a sweetheart compared to the psychopathic Zancrow or the arrogant Orga. Even Wendy can't help but notice the sheer contrast of personality with her fellow God Slayers. Even more noticeable with the reveal that God Slayer Magic [[spoiler:originated directly from ''Mundus'' himself]] and that most practitioners were historically prone to AGodAmI mindsets.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: [[spoiler:Despite losing to Wendy, she accepts her loss happily and even becomes her friend.]]
* GracefulLoser: Is not upset in the slightest [[spoiler:when she loses to Wendy in the Games.]]
* HealingFactor: Her Sky God Slayer Magic provides her the ability to heal her own injuries, something Wendy doesn't possess. According to Lyon, this power in particular has made Sherria all but unbeatable in the past. [[spoiler:Wendy figures out, however, that Sherria's healing doesn't restore her stamina, and quickly realizes that as long as she can keep Sherria from eating air, she can outlast her even if Sherria keeps healing her wounds.]]
* SpiritedCompetitor: She loves the chance for a good clean fight, and is clearly enjoying her fight with Wendy even as it proves much harder than she expected. [[spoiler:Even when Wendy wins, Sherria is nothing but happy for the chance to strike up a friendship.]]
* UnskilledButStrong: In comparison to Wendy she's this. Even with Wendy's Second Origin and her training from [[BadassTeacher Modeus]], it's made clear during their fight Sherria has the advantage in raw power due to the advantage God Slayer Magic has on Dragon Slayer Magic. However, it's also made clear while Sherria is well-versed in her magic, she's far more reliant on her magic's destructive force and her HealingFactor to sweep away the competition, which allows Wendy to match her by fighting smart.

!!Blue Pegasus
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/blue_pegasus_banner.png]]
Blue Pegasus is one of the legal guilds in Fiore. Led by its Guild Master, Bob.

[[folder:In General]]
* AdaptationalBadass: They are this compared to their canon selves who are comical relief at best.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: They may be quirky and focused on beauty but they're formidable wizards in their own right with Jenny as its S-Class Wizard and Ichiya as the Number 1 Wizard in the Guild.
* TheCavalry: They, along with Lamia Scale, helped the Fairy Tail wizards against the demon hordes.
* MythicalMotifs: Pegasus. Beautiful flying horses fit because most members are quite good-looking... most at least. They even got a Pegasus theme on their airship called [[CoolAirship Cristina]] that belongs to the guild.

[[folder:Bob]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bob.png]]

The Guild Master of Blue Pegasus that dresses as a woman... [[RunningGag and if you are curious he is a man.]]
----
* AbhorrentAdmirer: Due to his looks and personality, he even makes [[TheAce Dante]] shiver.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ichiya Vandalay Kotobuki]]
[[quoteright:275:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ft_ichiya_anime.png]]

The black sheep of Blue Pegasus, whose suave demeanor and sexy voice clash with his stout stature and ugly face. His perfume magic produces fragrances with varying effects, from painkillers to super strength to super speed. Despite his borderline uselessness in a fight, Ichiya is regarded highly within the guild as its top wizard.
----
* AbhorrentAdmirer: He has a thing for Erza, so much so that, even without knowing he was outside of Temen-ni-gru, him blowing a kiss towards the tower where she's at causes Erza to shudder in horror (keep in mind that she's inside a haunted tower filled with demons, which says a lot).
* BadassBoast: He delivers this against several demons with a composed demeanor.
--> '''Ichiya''': Such vile and ugly creatures. You do not deserve to live in the same world as my sweet honey!
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: He's generally seen as a weird little troll and something of a pervert, but Ichiya's charisma and strength both physical and mental are very real. He has never hesitated to stand his ground against demons, and his fellow Blue Pegasus members freely admit he's their ace only matched by Jenny in the Grand Magic Games. With his Power Parfum, he can tank and match blows with ''Bacchus'', who previously showed off his chops by utterly schooling Elfman.
* PurpleIsPowerful: His Power Parfum has a purple coloration, boosting his size and strength and allowing him to fight demons.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:The Three Trimens]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_trimens_in_x791.png]]

The Tri-Men are Blue Pegasus's elite team of lady-swooning pretty boys under Ichiya's command.
----
* TheCasanova: All three of them are this.
** In the Devil Hand Arc, they informed the female members of Fairy Tail inside of Temen-ni-gru (Lisanna, Lucy, Lady, Mira, Erza, Carla, and Trish) saying they're here in seductive voices, causing all the women to sweatdrop, even ones not in the guild (Angel/Sorano and Sheeree).
** When they encounter Trish, they start by trying to compliment her while surrounding her, although she is not impressed. Then after the battle, they try this with Lisanna, much to her surprise, telling her she is just as beautiful as her older sister, Mira, and must be an angel, much to Natsu's anger.
* ThisIsUnforgivable: When they encounter Angel again at the end of the Devil Hand Arc, they're still angry about her role in Karen's death, even if Lucy and Lisanna defend her, saying that she is a victim.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Jenny Realight]]
[[quoteright:181:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ft_jenny_anime.png]]

A pinup model for ''Sorcerer Weekly'', Mirajane's old rival and an S-Class Wizard of Blue Pegasus. She uses a form of Take Over Magic called Machina Soul.
----
* TheAce: She may be a pinup model for Sorcerer Weekly, but she does hold the rank of S-Class in Blue Pegasus, and uses a form of Take-Over Magic.
* AdaptationalBadass: After losing to Mira on the second day of the Games in a case of WorfHadTheFlu (as described below), Jenny gets a chance to truly show off her skills during the Naval Battle, using an aquatic-based form called War-Hydro, and holds her own briefly against Sherria and Risley. She also takes down Rocker and Yager of Quatro Puppy on her own during the Day 4 triple battle after Nichiya goes down, with her fellows noting she's their ace alongside Ichiya.
* CurbStompBattle: She was on the receiving end courtesy of Mirajane who took her down with two hits and she didn't get the chance to counter.
* DidntSeeThatComing: She didn't expect Mirajane's current transformation, Satan Soul: Sitri, to dwarf hers in terms of raw power as she was going for sexy, not dangerous.
* MadeOfIron: Despite being taken down by Mirajane in two hits, she is tougher than she looked after being punched into the ground by Satan Soul: Sitri Mira and walked it off, aside from comically crying in defeat.
* MsFanservice: Naturally as she's a model for Sorcerer Weekly and during her match with Mirajane, she excites the majority of the audience with her various sexy outfits she posed with.
* WorfHadTheFlu: According to WordOfGod in Chapter 33, the author explained the reason why Jenny lost so easily, despite being considered a rival for Mirajane. She donned a transformation that was supposed to be more sexy and less powerful, assuming it was part of the beauty contest; while Mirajane changed it to an actual battle and went with her strongest current Satan Soul form, attacking and defeating Jenny without giving her a chance to counter. The author reassured that Jenny will get her time to shine and showcase what she can really do with Machina Soul.

An Exceed, member of Blue Pegasus, and the Edolas counterpart of Ichiya. He disguised himself in a rabbit costume who serves as Blue Pegasus' ''"secret weapon"'' for the Grand Magic Games.

----
* AdaptationalBadass: In canon, he was comically one-shotted by Bacchus. Here? He is a skilled swordsman who sparred with Panther Lily in the Exceed Royal Guard back in Edolas and proves he can hold his own in pitched fight.
* FragileSpeedster: Is a superb swordsman and displays sufficient speed to slice at all three Quattro Cerberus members before they can react, even catching ''[[LightningBruiser Bacchus]]'' off guard. However he lacks the physical strength and durability of the likes of Samuel and Panther Lily thanks to their Battle Forms, which gets him knocked out by Rocker once he actually manages a good shot.
* WeakButSkilled: Although not on Panther-Lily's level, Nichiya was still a member of Extalia Royal Guard with impressive sword skills and speed from his Aera. Best shown when he held his own against several Quatro Cerberus (Puppy) members, but was knocked out with one hit by Rocker.

!!Quatro Cerberus
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/quatro_cerberus_banner.png]]
Quatro Cerberus is one of the legal guilds in Fiore.

[[folder:In General]]
* AdaptationalWimp: The Guild's performance in the Grand Magic Games is worse in ''Devil's Retribution'' due to either almost every other guild getting better AdaptationalBadass treatments than them, or the guilds already being stronger on a member-to-member basis. To explain, Bacchus is the only S-Class Level Wizard of the guild, whereas almost everyone else has at minimum 2 S-Class Level Wizards on their side. The result of this is Quatro Cerberus losing Chariot, the only event their guild won in canon, to Lucia of Mermaid Heel.
* AnimalMotifs: Dogs. The guild is named after the three-headed guard dog of Hades, and some of its members have canine traits, with Wally calling himself a Dandy Dog.
* ButtMonkey: Like in canon the guild doesn't do very well in the Grand Magic Games. To prove the point, they're renamed "Quatro Puppy" after [[spoiler:Elfman beats Bacchus as part of a bet]].
* CurbStompCushion: Their match against Blue Pegasus ends with them losing in a two on three matchup in their favour, but Goldmine and Yager still managed to take out Nichiya (who underwent AdaptationalBadass) before this point and briefly incapacitate Jenny with some quick thinking.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: They're not a weak guild as they were able to get past the preliminaries in the Grand Magic Games, but Bacchus is their only exceptionally strong member with their next best fighter being Wally, and while good he's not S-Class material. By comparison, all the other competing guilds have at least two S-Class level fighters and so they end up as the weakest of the competing guilds and often outclassed by their competitors in the various events and fights.

[[folder:Bacchus Groh]]
[[quoteright:220:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ft_bacchus_anime.png]]

The strongest wizard in Quatro Cerberus, renowned for inventing his own unique martial art known as Chop Hanging Palm.
----
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: Unlike canon, he apologizes for the terms of his 'bet' with Elfman (with minor prodding from Wally), and even clarifies when he requested Mirajane and Lisanna 'spend the night keeping him company', he just meant join him for a few drinks. The only reason he said it so sleazily was to rile up Elfman in hopes of a better fight.
* DrunkenMaster: He invented his own fighting style called Drunken Chop Hanging Palm. As if he weren't dangerous enough when sober, he becomes nightmarishly fast and flexible when he's actually drunk.
* GracefulLoser: [[spoiler:When Elfman beats him, he sincerely complements him, declaring him 'a real man'.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Wally Buchanan]]
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wally_buchanan.jpg]]

A childhood friend of Erza's from the Tower of Heaven, who joined Quatro Cerberus during the seven-year time skip. He dresses and acts like a gangster.
----
* AdaptationExpansion: In canon he and Sho kinda... disappear from the plot after the Tower of Heaven arc. Here they reappear as soon as the first chapter of the sequel.
* BadassinaNiceSuit: He wears a sharp suit to match his ideal of a gangster.
* BigBrotherInstinct: Actually a little brother, but still cares about his older brother Richard/Hoteye. When he sees the Neo Oracion Seis, he is angry the most at them because he blames them for turning his brother to the dark side, and when Racer recognized him as Hoteye's younger brother, he exclaimed that his name is Richard, showing how much he cares for his older brother.
* DetachmentCombat: His magic allows him to split up his body into blocks and launch them at enemies as projectiles.
* EveryoneHasStandards: During the "Hidden" challenge of the Grand Magic Games, he doesn't approve of Nullpudding favoring attacking Gray and makes sure to give the Raven Tail member a good shot to deflate his ego.
** Shows disgust when Bacchus makes a bet with Elfman to spend a night with both his sisters should he win. Although Wally wants a win for his team, he finds it hard not to root for Fairy Tail since, in his own words, you gotta show women respect.
* GracefulLoser: Besides Bacchus, he's the only member of his team to take the man's loss against Fairy Tail in stride, even saying that it's a dandy way to lose.
* MrExposition: It was him alongside Sho and Millianna told about Jellal's escape to Erza.
* PowerUpgradingDeformation: Learning magic that lets him split his body up into blocks also gave him a permanently block-like appearance.
* YouRemindMeOfX: When he encounters Mary Hughes about never questioning her superior, it reminds him about Jellal and the Tower of Heaven.

!!Mermaid Heel
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mermaid_heel_profile_pic.png]]
Mermaid Heel is one of the legal guilds in Fiore, being known as an all-female guild, and is the second best in the country. Led by its Guild Master and the strongest Wizard Saint, Kurenai.

[[folder:In General]]
* AdaptationalBadass: They were no pushovers in Grand Magic Games, but here they are the second strongest guild and their Guild Master is the 1st ranked Wizard Saint. [[spoiler:In addition, they have two new S-Class wizards in their guild Lucia and Sapphire, and both Kagura and Risley have new abilities. They do far better in the Grand Magic Games as a result, even managing to get ahead of both Fairy Tail and Sabertooth in the rankings on Day 3 and are clearly on par with both of them.]]
* BadassCrew: There the second strongest guild in Fiore only surpassed by Sabertooth.
* MythicalMotifs: Mermaids. Beautiful half-woman, half-fish, and their Guild Master is nicknamed "The Mother of the Oceans".
* TrueCompanions: Much like Fairy Tail they are a very tight-knit guild that considers their members to be family.

[[folder:Kurenai]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kurenai_1.jpg]]

Kurenai, the Mother of the Ocean, is the Guild Master of Mermaid Heel and the first-ranked Wizard Saint. [[spoiler:She's a sworn sister of Sparda, and the adoptive mother of Kagura.]]
----
* BadassTeacher: An extremely capable teacher going by Kagura's abilities.
* BashSiblings: [[spoiler:Kurenai witnesses Sparda's cremation along with Fairy Tail and the Order of The Sword, where she reveals in ''Toward the Future'' that she is actually a demon who fought side-by-side with Sparda as "sworn siblings". She was also well-acquainted with the dragons, Grandeeney in particular, but doesn't know what became of them.]]
* BenevolentBoss: Considers the members of her Guild to be her daughters and is a caring and supportive figure to them.
* CanonForeigner: Twofold. She fills in for the unnamed Master of Mermaid Heel and as one of the four unnamed members of the Ten Wizard Saints.
* DefectorFromDecadence: [[spoiler:Like Sparda, Kurenai is a demon who grew to cherish the human world and cut ties with Mundus.]]
* TheDreaded: Even God Serena doesn't dare challenge her which considering how powerful and arrogant he is, it speaks volumes to her strength.
* GoodParents: As the 'mother' of Mermaid Heel, acts as a source of comfort and wisdom to all her 'daughters', and a ReasonableAuthorityFigure in general. [[spoiler:Also fits this with her adoptive daughter Kagura, whom she raised and trained [[HappilyAdopted before and after adopting her]].]]
* MakingASplash: As her nickname is the Mother of the Ocean and she carries a trident and the Guild she leads is called Mermaid Heel she can presumably use some form of water-related powers.
* MamaBear: Like Makarov, she treats the members of Mermaid Heel as her own daughters. She even insists they call her 'mom', 'mommy', 'mama', 'mother', and other such nicknames.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Kurenai appears to be a grown woman in her thirties to forties, [[spoiler:but she is around the same age as Sparda, making her at least 2000 years old.]]
* ProngsOfPoseidon: She carries a quite fancy trident, fitting for someone known as the "Mother of the Ocean".
* RankScalesWithAsskicking: Guild Master of the Mermaid Heel and the most powerful of the Ten Wizard Saints.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Kurenai keeps the peace while meeting her fellow Wizard Saints and makes sure even God Serena behaves himself. The group then proceeds to discuss important matters, in part for Makarov's benefit due to his seven-year absence.
* WorldsStrongestWoman: Is ranked number one amongst the Ten Wizard Saints, with all that title implies. Even [[SmugSuper God Serena]] knows better than to push her too far. * AdaptationalEarlyAppearance: Kinda. In canon, she didn't reappear until the Grand Magic Games arc. Here, she returns (along with Sho and Wally) as soon as the first chapter, right after the time skip.
* AnimalMotifs: Cats, of course. She loves cats, has a cat-like appearance, and her spells have cat themes and names.
* AnimeHair: Dolled up in the style of cat ears.
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: Gets distracted by anything cat-related.
* CatGirl: Has the looks and behavior of one, though she's not really one.

A female Devil Hunter, S-Class wizard and the strongest member of Mermaid Heel.
----
* TheAce: She is the single most powerful member of Mermaid Heel, aside from their master, evident in how she blocked a strike from Bacchus, TheAce of Quatro Cerberus, with ease, establishing that Mermaid Heel is a threat on par with Sabertooth.
* AdaptationalSuperpowerChange: While in ''VideoGame/DevilMayCry2'' she primarily fought with daggers, here she has her own set of Devil Arms for use in combat.
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Is the 'better' to her guildmate and fellow [[TheAce ace]] Kagura, with the others unanimously agreeing that Lucia is their strongest member.
* FriendlyRivalry: Strikes one up with Dante at the start of the Grand Magic Games, greeting him respectfully, and noting over the seven years he was gone she amassed a demonic kill count that may exceed even his. Both are friendly and look forward to clashing during the games. She also has one with Kagura as their the two most powerful members of Mermaid Heel other than their master.
* LightningBruiser: Strong enough to catch a punch from Bacchus without any real effort and is the winner of the Chariots Race showing an immense amount of speed and strength.
* MasterArcher: [[spoiler:With her dual crossbows: Rosso (red) and Azul (Blue), and fire bow Devil Arm: Apollo.]]
* PunchCatch: In ''The Will of a Man'' chapter, Lucia effortlessly caught Bacchus' punch (with the same amount of strength he demolished all nearby chariots) with her palm and even pushes him back, leaving the individuals such as Dante, Erza, Makarov, Gildarts, and Bacchus himself to be surprised and stunned by her feat.

----
* TheAce: She's one of the most powerful members of Mermaid Heel, surpassed only by Lucia. Her swift defeat of Yukino helps to establish Mermaid Heel as a threat on par with Sabertooth.
* AdaptationalBadass: In canon her katana, Archenemy, while powerful, is still just a magic sword. [[spoiler:Here, it's a Devil Arm! And according to her guildmates, can [[EnergyAbsorption absorb the power of incoming attacks for a boost in power]].]]
* CoolSword: Her sword Archenemy is [[spoiler: a Devil Arm that can absorb the energy of attacks and use it to boost her own.]]

* HappilyAdopted: [[spoiler:After her village was raided by Zeref's cultists, Kagura was found by Kurenai who was tracking the cultists and was adopted by her.]]
* HeroicWillpower: Both Milliana and Kurenai are completely confident that Kagura will have no difficulty [[spoiler: in wielding her Devil Arm sword. However when she spots Jellal she starts to lose control of it for a bit showing that her willpower has limits.]]
* IGaveMyWord: She holds Yukino's life in her hands as a result of their pre-battle wager. Kagura only regards her win as Yukino's life literally belonging to her, and doesn't even try to enforce this.
* MasterSwordswoman: Can rival Erza as a swordswoman and wields [[spoiler: the Devil Arm sword: Archenemy.]] Vergil calls her one of the deadliest swordswoman in Fiore and considering his own skills with a sword that says a lot.

Risley is a chubby and highly determined woman who can manipulate her own gravity and body mass using Gravity Change.
----
* AdaptationalBadass: While her [[GravityMaster Gravity Magic]] is still stated to be less powerful than [[TheAce Kagura's]], she can also use it to [[EnergyAbsorption absorb the impact of her opponent's attacks on her body to power herself up]], giving her an extra trick her teammate lacks.
* EnergyAbsorption: Can use her Gravity Magic to absorb the impact of attacks on her body to boost her own strength, though it doesn't mitigate the damage.
* RequiredSecondaryPowers: As the EnergyAbsorption aspect of her Gravity Magic does not grant any innate resistance, Kurenai mentions that she specifically trains to be [[MadeOfIron as physically tough as possible]], with the top-ranked Wizard Saint remarking that it is incredibly difficult to knock her out quickly.

[[folder:[[spoiler:Sapphire Caldwell]]]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sapphire_1.jpg]]

An Azure Dragon Slayer and an S-Class wizard of Mermaid Heel, and among the Top 3 best members alongside Lucia and Kagura. Before completing her undercover mission, she posed herself as a member of Raven Tail to spy on them.
----
* TheAce: When she's revealed to be with Mermaid Heel, Lucia notes that she's an S-Class wizard, a rank meant for the most skilled and powerful guild wizards, and one that she shares with Lucia and Kagura.
* AffectionateNickname: Sapphire's Mermaid Heel guildmates such as Amarilla, Risley and Beth affectionally call her "Sapphy".
* AscendedFangirl: Has been a fan of Natsu ever since he took down Bora in Hargeon, and by present day is not only a member of a wizard's guild just like him, but is even a Dragon Slayer to boot! Her being invited to join in on Fairy Tail's celebration, by her idol no less, has her incredibly giddy.
* BloodKnight: She's quite giddy when fighting Natsu in ''Origins''. When Bruni shows up to stop the fight, followed by Gildarts, Makarov, Lucy, and Lisanna, she nearly picks a fight with all of them until Ivan stops her.
* BoisterousBruiser: Just like Natsu, her idol. She enjoys hyping up the crowd before her teams fight with Lamia Scale and is quite expressive during the fight as well.
* BreathWeapon: Azure Dragon Roar, her own Dragon Slayer's Roar spell, which breathes out blue icy flames.
* ColdFlames: As the Azure Dragon Slayer, her [[PlayingWithFire blue flames]] are cold fire, which is way colder than Romeo's own blue flames and Gray's ice powers.
* CompositeCharacter: Her blue, cold flames are an artifact of [=Iron117Prime=]'s ''Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'' crossover fics. The blue flames are akin to [[WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender Azula]], the first "female trounced by new heroes" character in his fanfics, while the icy part brings to mind [[Franchise/{{Frozen}} Elsa]], one of the protagonists of his first fanfic alongside the Turtles.
* ElementalAbsorption: As the Azure Dragon Slayer, her mastery of cold flames give her the ability to eat fire ''and'' ice.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: She's shown to be disgusted with Ivan's abuse of Flare. Subverted since it turns out she's not really evil as she's actually spying on Raven Tail for Mermaid Heel.
* EvilCounterpart: She's this for Natsu as the Azure Dragon Slayer, with her element being blue fire. The author even stated that Sapphire is meant to be this to Natsu due to Ivan forming Raven Tail as the anti-Fairy Tail. {{Subverted|Trope}} as it turns out that Sapphire is actually an undercover member of Mermaid Heel.
* {{Expy}}: Her real personality shows that she's essentially the [[Franchise/StreetFighter Sakura Kasugano]] to Natsu's Ryu.
* {{Foil}}: To Sting, another Dragon Slayer who is initially antagonistic towards Natsu despite having been a fan of his a while ago. Whereas Sapphire's antagonism was feigned and she's actually happy to meet her childhood hero, Sting long since suffered a BrokenPedestal thanks to [[TheSocialDarwinist buying into Sabertooth's 'only strength matters' philosophy]] and take glee taunting him. Sapphire admired Natsu for his heroic nature, and became a Second Generation Dragon Slayer with a Lacrima, whereas Sting seemed to admire his strength as a fellow Dragon Slayer, and was also raised by a dragon.
* GoodAllAlong: As it turns out, she was a part of Mermaid Heel all along, having infiltrated Raven Tail for Kurenai.
* ImYourBiggestFan: Sapphire is a big time fan of Natsu, started to idolize him, following on all of his adventures, seeing him as a hero ever since she saw him for the first time in the Port Hargeon when he fought Bora. When she first meets him after her stint in Raven Tail is finished, she even asks for his autograph. It's implied she even modelled her attire after him
* TheMole: Kurenai had sent her to infiltrate Raven Tail.
* MythicalMotifs: Dragons, befitting for a Azure Dragon Slayer as Sapphire uses blue icy flames.
* OriginalCharacter: Created by the author to fill out Raven Tail's roster of a six-man team for the Grand Magic Games, as well as give Raven Tail their own Dragon Slayer to fit in with Raven Tail being a guild to counter Fairy Tail.
* ThrillSeeker: Ivan, [[spoiler:or rather Sid disguised by Ivan's illusion]], calls her this after she fights Natsu in ''Origins'' and nearly fights Bruni.
* WalkingSpoiler: Not much can be discussed about her without revealing some major spoilers and plot twists.
* WeaksauceWeakness: Like all Dragon Slayers, she possesses severe motion sickness.
* WreathedInFlames: A typical trait of Azure Dragon Slayer is her ability to cover herself in flames, whether it's a single fist or her whole body.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Amarilla]]
Sapphire's Exceed companion and her best friend.
----
* {{Foil}}: To Lector, Sting's Exceed companion. While both are companions to a Dragon Slayer that has (or had) admiration of Natsu, Lector acts as Sting's YesMan, agreeing with everything he says and almost constantly belittling any non-Sabertooth guilds and their members. By contrast, Amarilla is consistently polite and friendly to those outside of their guild, and actually tries to ''reign in'' her companion when she gets too excited.

!!Sabertooth
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sabertooth_banner.png]]
Sabertooth is currently the top guild in Fiore.

[[folder:In General]]
* TheAce: During the 7 years where Fairy Tails strongest members were gone, they rose to become the strongest guild in Fiore.
* AdaptationalBadass: Vergil joins their ranks during the time skip, which greatly increases their power.
* AdaptationalWimp: Despite Vergil's presence, his lack of ''direct'' participation in the games as of the Naval Battle has negated the benefits of Sabertooth having his services. As a result of that and Fairy Tail and Mermaid Heel getting a proper AdaptationalBadass treatment they ended up worse off in the Grand Magic Games. [[spoiler:By the end of the Naval Battle on Day 4, they're sharing second place with Mermaid Heel while Fairy Tail is in first, compared to how in canon they only lost the lead by the end of Day 4 with Sting and Rogue's loss in the battle portion. And the battle portion itself still ends in defeat for Sabertooth, even with Vergil fighting alongside Sting and Rogue. By the end of the fight, Sabertooth has fallen into third place, behind Fairy Tail and Mermaid Heel.]]
* {{Expy}}: Being an antagonist group in an [=Iron117Prime=] fanfic that embodies [[TheSocialDarwinist Social Darwinism]] will pretty much make readers wonder if [[Anime/CodeGeass Britannia]] "reincarnated" into another fanfic after [[spoiler: their devastating defeat against the Decepticons in ''Fanfic/CodePrime'']].
* {{Jerkass}}: Besides Yukino, Rogue, Frosch, and ''Vergil'', of all people, all their members are this.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Jiemma Orland]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/human_jiemma.png]]

The Guild Master of Sabertooth, ruling it with an iron fist.
----
* AdaptationalVillainy: As if he wasn't bad enough in canon, here [[spoiler:he actually considered ''{{rap|eIsASpecialKindOfEvil}}ing'' Yukiko along with expelling her! He only didn't because she "wouldn't give him strong children"]].
* BadBoss: Sabertooth members fear their Guild Master very much, especially if you fail him. Just ask Yukino.
* DirtyCoward: While he's more than willing to bully and abuse people weaker than him like Yukino, when he is confronted by Vergil, he backs down pretty quickly. [[spoiler:He also tries to avoid facing Dante when he barges into the inn Sabertooth is staying at, only agreeing to a duel when Vergil tells him that if he doesn't, he should step down as Guild Master in front of the rest of Sabertooth.]]
* TheDreaded: Many members in Sabertooth are [[SmugSuper brash and arrogant in their abilities]], but even they fear Jiemma for a reason. [[TheAce Vergil]] is the only one that dares to speak out against him, and if Rufus and Orga's talk is any indication, it happens a lot.
* {{Jerkass}}: Jiemma's cruel, arrogant, and treats the members of his guild like lackeys.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: Even in Sabertooth, Jiemma is [[TheMobBossIsScarier this]] compared to his underlings, but only [[NobleDemon Vergil]] has the guts to not only stand up to him but make him back down first with a DeathGlare exchange, implying that even Jiemma knows how powerful Sparda's eldest son is.
* YouHaveFailedMe: Anyone who fails to properly uphold Sabertooth's creed of the strongest will find themselves thrown out. In addition to Yukino after her match with Kagura, Jiemma also expels several minor members whose only crime was getting taken out by Dante when he came a'knocking over said banishment.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Vergil]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dmc4se_vergil_5.png]]

The AntiVillain-[[WildCard slash]]-AntiHero son of an AscendedDemon named [[HumanDemonHybrid Sparda and a human named Eva]], and [[AlwaysIdenticalTwins twin brother]] of Dante. While Dante became a hotheaded but selfless AntiHero after [[DeathByOriginStory demons killed their mother]], Vergil grew to be a cool and collected AntiVillain [[AmbitionIsEvil out for his own gain]]. During the seven-year time skip, he joined the Sabertooth guild.
----
* TheAce: He's established as this for Sabertooth in the time skip. Erza considers Vergil to be Fairy Tails biggest obstacle in the Grand Magic Game, which puts him ahead of people like Lucia and Jura.
* AndThenWhat: In "Let's Welcome Chaos", Natsu angrily tells him this even when he becomes the King of Hell, what good is all the power if he's gonna sit on an oversized throne as he finds it quite boring.
* ArcVillain: He is the main villain in his namesake arc, where he kidnaps and beats Fairy Tail members to ensure they don't intervene in his fight with Dante.
** He later became the BigBadEnsemble in Devil Hand Arc alongside Arkham.
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: To his brother [[TheAce Dante]] in terms of skill. He discovered his [[SuperMode Devil Trigger]] much sooner and shows greater mastery over it. What's more, Dante has yet to beat him in a one-on-one duel, usually requiring aid from Natsu.
** He is also this towards Fairy Tail's most elite members, to the point that Natsu holds a specific fear towards him. Even S-Class Wizards like Erza and Mira have been defeated by him, with Vergil's Devil Trigger outmatching Mira's Satan Soul.
** Though he has yet to encounter Laxus, Freed notes from his fight with Vergil that his power surpasses that of Laxus'.
** He's revealed to be this toward all of Crime Sorciére, which includes the likes of Jellal, Ultear, and Sheeree, forcing them to retreat when facing them once.
** He's practically this for all of Sabertooth, being their most powerful member likely including the Guild Master.
** However, there are a few above him when it comes to power.
*** Makarov, a Wizard Saint and Fairy Tail's guild master, intimidated Vergil with just a glare and a magic pulse strong enough to make him stumble back. Vergil even notes that at full power he couldn't beat Makarov (for now).
*** Gildarts. When he unleashes his full power on Tenrou Island, Natsu notices he might be even stronger than Vergil.
*** Master Hades. Dante finds that not only is he all-powerful and knows how to use it but notes that if Hades could defeat even Makarov, then even Vergil wouldn't be able to scratch him.
* ArchEnemy: Vergil is already this to Dante but he later became this to Natsu. Considering that Vergil is responsible for his TraumaButton for utterly defeating him and giving him a scar, that's to be expected.
* BigBrotherInstinct: WordOfGod states at the end of ''Fangs Bared'' that Vergil would have been the first to come to Lucy's aid when Minerva continued assaulting her after the Naval Battle, but was beaten to the punch by Dante and Natsu, showing that despite being on opposite sides and seemingly not caring on the surface, Vergil does care for his cousin.
* BreakThemByTalking: He is an expert in this and since Fairy Tail got some DarkAndTroubledPast, that's gonna be ugly.
** ''Satan Soul vs Devil Trigger'', he uses her younger sister's apparent death that's her fault for it which leaves Mira completely enraged by the guilt, with Elfman also enraged that he used [[NeverSpeakIllOfTheDead Lisanna]] to win a fight.
** ''Demon vs Spirits'', with Lucy about her father and what happened in the Phantom Lord arc, she thought he is trying to make her feel guilty about it, but instead, he knows that's not her fault but why question her to not kill him and while she is horrified, but what really seals it that's she is weak just as her mother that died young, which differently drives the dagger in her heart. [[spoiler:HarsherInHindsight is that's his aunt, uncle, and cousin he talked to.]]
** ''Devil Prince vs Fairy Queen'', even [[TheAce Erza]] [[LadyOfWar Scarlet]] got it from Tower of Heaven with Jellal the death of her closest friends Rob and Simon even got her, but she tries to get over with that and telling him he is right about that, but that's motivated her to press on.
** ''Epic Clash: Natsu vs Vergil'', he tries this against Natsu several times that his fire can't melt a marshmallow and why he cares about Igneel since he abandoned him.
** ''Rise! Temen-ni-gru!'', even [[TheDragon Ultear]] of Grimoire Heart got it when he provoked about her mother Ur abandoning her and took two boys, Gray and Lyon, while she got Meredy, she got enraged, using her Arc of Time in an attempt to rust the [[CoolSword Yamato]], but to no avail, because the Yamato is a Devil Arm that's immune of time and captures her and use her Arc of Time to complete the ritual to unleash Temen-ni-gru, with [[PowerCopying Leviatha/Sheeree]]'s assistance by speeding up the time around the seal.
* CurbStompBattle: Most of Vergil's fights with [[BadassCrew Fairy Tail]] is considered this. Even the Action Girl [[TheAce S-Class]] [[BewareTheNiceOnes Mirajane]] and [[MagicKnight Erza Scarlet]] couldn't defeat him. Even [[TheHero Natsu]] with Gray and Gajeel are completely overwhelmed by him. It took the combined {{Super Mode}}s of Devil Trigger Dante and Dragon Force Natsu to defeat him for the first and so far only time.
** In ''Towards the Future'', he easily defeats a Lightning Cerberus in a display of how strong he's become in the last seven years.
** ''Old Friends'' reveals that he delivered the same thing to all of Crime Sorciére during the TimeSkip, forcing them to retreat.
* DeathGlare: Delivers one hell of a rage-filled look at Minerva after she beat Lucy to near-death and attempted to cheap-shot Natsu in ''Fangs Bared'', causing her SmugSnake persona to quickly fall apart.
* DidntSeeThatComing:
** During his first [[SuperMode Devil Trigger to Devil Trigger]] fight with Dante, both witness Natsu using demon fire to power up. Vergil assumes 'the fool' is going to die, but not only does Natsu survive, but he also goes into [[SuperMode Dragon Force]]. This was not only a turning point in the fight itself but was the first time in the story that Vergil was genuinely caught off guard.
** In Devil Hand arc when he went to kidnap Lisanna to unleash [[EvilTowerOfOminousness Temen-ni-gru]], only to be surprised that she gained [[spoiler:[[TookaLevelofBadass a Dragon Soul Take Over]]]]. Seeing this he realizes using her [[BloodMagic blood for the ritual]] might destroy to tower]].
** [[spoiler:PlayedForLaughs. Even he thought King Toma's instructions were simple enough for Arcadios to realize that king wants [[DrunkenMaster Bacchus]] to fight [[LadyofWar Erza]] but is [[NotSoStoic just as surprised as everyone else]] that the man chose [[TheBigGuy Elfman]] instead, including letting out a BigWhat]].
* DoubleWeapon: Vergil has gained a new Devil Arm since his last encounter with Fairy Tail: a [[ShockAndAwe lightning-generating]] double-bladed spear named Zeus. It was originally a broadsword named Alastor but evolves when Vergil kills a lightning Cerberus with it and absorbs its energy.
* TheDreaded: Is this to ''ALL'' of Fairy Tail given how he's easily stronger than Dante.
** After facing him once and being forced to fall back, Crime Sorciére is also cautious about him.
** Even Jiemma, the master of Vergil's own guild, backs down first when the two get into a confrontation, implying he may have some fear of him as well. In fact the members of Sabertooth in general are shown to be afraid of Vergil and quickly do what he says when he gets serious.
* EveryoneHasStandards: While Vergil comes off as TheUnfettered in his pursuit of greater power, he does have personal lines he won't cross.
** For example, [[spoiler:after witnessing Lucy lose her fight with Flare because of Raven Tail's cheating, he's absolutely ''pissed'' and silently admits that if it were up to him he would destroy the former Dark Guild]].
** [[spoiler:He also is disgusted with Jiemma trying to humiliate Yukino and stops it.]]
** As seen when Minerva takes Happy hostage to force Dante's cooperation, he does not approve of using the weak as shields, citing it as a sign of weakness.
* TheForceIsStrongWithThisOne: When Freed fought him, he got a taste of his power and find it on the same level as Laxus, or even stronger, much to the shock of both Bickslow and Evergreen, but Levy and Cana too.
* GeniusBruiser: Not only did Vergil defeat many [[BadassCrew Fairy Tail]] members head-on with his demonic powers, but also of his tactical skills, having quickly managed to determine an impressively detailed record of each of their magics and respective [[DarkAndTroubledPast traumatic backstories]]. Makarov even compliments him for being as smart as he is strong.
* GracefulLoser: Whenever Vergil loses a fight he takes it in stride, accepting the inevitability of defeat and using it as motivation to grow stronger. [[spoiler:Notably when Dante beats him at the Grand Magic Games, he congratulates him on achieving victory.]]
* HeelFaceTurn: {{Play|ingWithATrope}}ed with. Post-time skip he has joined a proper guild, implying he has ceased any criminal activities, however, the guild he joined is [[TheSocialDarwinist Sabertooth]].
* KarmaHoudini: Despite being defeated by Dante and Natsu in his debut arc, he managed to get away and return to face them again in the Devil Hand arc, which is usually rare for an enemy of Fairy Tail since they either got befriended or like most guilds are disbanded like Phantom Lord, Oración Seis and Grimoire Heart, but Vergil yet again is able to escape again (but Makarov allowed it), and he joined in the official guild eventually, Sabertooth.
* KatanasAreJustBetter: His signature weapon, Yamato, is a demonic sword given to him by his father.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: Vergil might be cocky ArrogantKungFuGuy SmugSuper that outmatch even the most Elite Fairy Tail members, he isn't foolish enough to fight [[PapaWolf Makarov]], a [[TheArchmage Wizard Saint]], even with full power he might not win against him (for now, that is) when he warned the Son of Sparda with to ever harm his children again.
* MasterSwordsman: Vergil's skill with a sword is superior to even Dante and Erza's.
* TheMole: [[spoiler:As it turns out, Vergil may have joined Sabertooth, but he serves as a spy for the Magic Council. Whether or not he is truly loyal to them is unclear. ''Origins'' shows that may not be the case, as it's revealed that he's spying on the Magic Council for King Toma, who's become increasingly worried over the Council's aggressive actions.]]
* MythicalMotifs: Demons and devils just like his brother due to his heritage and [[SuperMode Devil Trigger]].
* NobleDemon: Vergil has a certain code of honor. If he gives his word to an agreement, he'll hold his end to it. For example, when [[spoiler:Adrian/Beelzebub]] requests that once his part is complete, Vergil will kill him, the human-demon hybrid understands his situation completely and promises it with no strings attached. He also straightforwardly faces opponents, with the main reason he targeted Fairy Tail members being that he simply wanted a 1v1 fight with Dante without interruptions. Best seen by his disdain for Minerva, who he admonishes for claiming to be 'strong' despite relying on hostages and dirty tactics to win her fights.
* NotSoInvincibleAfterAll: [[spoiler:After spending so long appearing as an invincible force of nature to any single fighter throughout the story, Vergil finally faces an undisputed one-on-one defeat when he falls to Dante on the fourth day of the Grand Magic Games, showing everyone that he can be beaten. Minerva even states this herself that Vergil isn't invincible after witnessing this herself.]]
* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: During the TimeSkip he encountered all of Crime Sorciére, fighting them all to the point that they were forced to retreat once he brought out his Devil Trigger.
* OnlySaneMan: Compared to the other members of Sabertooth, especially [[ArrogantKungFuGuy Sting]], Vergil is the only one that does not dismiss Fairy Tail as a threat, acknowledging the strength the various members possess, and watching any match with Fairy Tail in the Grand Magic Games with interest to see how much stronger they have become since his last battle with them. He's fully aware of this and is sick of Sabertooth's members never listening to him, even referring to himself as their babysitter.
* PetTheDog: Vergil might be a prominent antagonist, but his NobleDemon traits do show once in a while.
** He promised [[ChildrenAreInnocent Adrian/Beelzebub]] to end his [[DeathSeeker suffering]] if he helps his goals to unlock [[EvilTowerOfOminousness Temen-ni-gru]]. When both Mira and Elfman confront him and bring that up he explains his reasons and the inability to help, but also allowed [[TheBigGuy Elfman]] to punch him for still bringing a boy to the Dark Guild.
** His anger towards Raven Tail for having to cheat to win against [[spoiler:his cousin]] Lucy.
** He is the only one to defend Yukino from [[BadBoss Jiemma]] from further humiliation when she is kicked out of the guild. Before she leaves, he tells her she was a fine addition to Sabertooth, despite what Jiemma says.
* RecurringElement: He's a complex case of fusing two of [=Iron117Prime=]'s common character archetypes. When he's introduced, most of the dialogue that's directed towards him is more in line with the CrossoverVillainInChief of that story (i.e. YouMonster). Later on in the story, most of his better traits manifest, shifting towards NobleDemon status.
* RedBaron: [[spoiler:Devil Prince, after the seven years of timeskip.]]
* RelatedInTheAdaptation: [[spoiler:Dante learns in Edolas that Lucy's counterpart is the niece of his mother's counterpart, leading him to wonder if the same is true back home. Sure enough, Capricorn reveals that his mother, Eva, was the older sister of Layla, Lucy's mother; therefore, Dante and Vergil are cousins with Lucy.]]
* SmugSuper:
** Just like Dante he is just as cocky, however, he is even more so as he likes calling himself superior and those lesser than him (most members of Fairy Tail) not on his level. Considering how skilled he is, he's able to back it up most of the time.
** Averted when it comes to the subject of [[WorldsStrongestMan Acnologia]], as when Sting mocks Natsu over being unable to stand up to the dragon at Tenrou Island, Vergil shuts him down and admits even ''he'' as he is now (who overpowered all of Crime Sorciére once he got serious) would lose to the dragon.
* SuperMode: Was the first character to unlock his Devil Trigger.
* StarterVillain: The first new antagonist of the story's very first major arc.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: Hates his guild master Jiemma and has no respect for him and doesn't make any attempt to hide it. While his guildmates respect his abilities they don't like him on a personal level. He's even admitted that he has no interest in making friends, and sees joining Sabertooth as a means to an end.
* TokenGoodTeammate: Believe it or not, fits this the best amongst Sabertooth, being the only member who doesn't [[SmugSuper constantly lord their superiority over other guilds]] (especially Fairy Tail), and is even annoyed by his teammates (especially Sting) doing so. He's also the only one who stands up for Yukino when she is expelled from the Guild.
* TookALevelInBadass: Vergil was always a badass but during the TimeSkip, he grows so powerful that he was able to drive off all of Crime Sorciére by himself once he went Devil Trigger. Keep in mind that Crime Sorciére has two members who can use Lost Magics, another can copy any form of magic including Lost Ones, and Jellal one of the most powerful mages in the story and Vergil forced them all to flee. Sorano makes it clear that to even stand a chance against him Dante and the others ''need'' to have their second Origins unlocked. He shows how far he's come during the fight on Day 4 of the Grand Magic Games, including new personal Devil Arms [[ShockAndAwe Zeus]], [[DishingOutDirt Arbiter]], [[PlayingWithFire Ifrit]], and [[EnergyWeapon Mirage Edge]] (notably for being formed from his own demonic power alone), as well as an evolution to his [[SuperMode Devil Trigger]].
* TookALevelInKindness: Following the TimeSkip Vergil is shown to be much more reasonable and far less malevolent, in addition to losing much of his SmugSuper tendencies. He's also much more willing to dole out compliments in his internal narration, his philosophy having evolved to acknowledge a persons ''will'' to grow stronger, rather than simply their current strength. He's still not exactly nice however shown by his utter dismissal of Lucy [[LackOfEmpathy and her father passing away]].
* UnderestimatingBadassery: During the first story, Vergil is extremely confident in his abilities during his battles with Dante and Fairy Tail, easily defeating many of them in combat. However, this comes back to bite him as the various members' determination, stubbornness, and teamwork end up putting him on the ropes. Come ''Devil's Retribution'' this seems to have been slowly averted. When Sting boasts that he can beat Natsu, Vergil warns him not to underestimate the Salamander, noting that for all his foolishness, he is the most powerful of the first-generation Dragon Slayers.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: A flashback showed him willing to pass the time playing with Dante [[spoiler:and Lucy]] and happily reading a book full of poetry.
* VillainHasAPoint: He might be a villain that's more than willing to kill Dante and those who stand in his way, but he does make some valid points to back up his worldview:
** ''More Fairies Fall'', when he faced the Thunder Legion, Freed asked him why is he against Dante, his own flesh and blood. Vergil quickly points out that they don't have room the talk since they betrayed their guild before during the Battle of Fairy Tail event, and [[KarmaHoudini didn't even share in their leader's punishment]].
** ''Demon vs Spirits'', during Lucy's first [[CurbStompBattle 'fight' with him]], she grows increasingly angry as he cuts down her spirits without mercy. He points out that she's the one sending them all against a clearly superior opponent and if she truly wants to prevent them from getting hurt, she should grow stronger.
** ''Brothers Rivals Evermore!'', he still believes that power is all that matters and that bonds and friendship are of no help if you are weak. Even after Happy gives him a speech about Vergil unleashing the tower and undoing the hard work of both his father and the dragons, saying that Fairy Tail will never lose to him, Vergil manages to prove him wrong, defeating Dante despite his brother fighting for those same friends and bonds. This is further reinforced by Happy's failed attempt to take back the Perfect Amulet, as he is no match against Vergil, proving his point that ThePowerOfFriendship cannot make up for such a gap in strength and skill.
** ''A Bittersweet Aftermath'', even Makarov admits that Vergil is somewhat correct about the fact that power and might control everything and that's important to be strong to get to live. However, he points out that power isn't ''everything'' and you don't need to go on a dark path to obtain it.
* VillainRespect: In ''A Bittersweet Aftermath'', after he declines Makarov's offer to join Fairy Tail due to having bad blood between many members, not just Dante, he at least acknowledges the strength they have and that he underestimated many of them and got his respect. This continues past the time skip, where he is unsurprised to hear they survived Acnologia, and scolds [[ArrogantKungFuGuy Sting]] for assuming they are weak. Just before the Pandemonium royale event, he mentally namedrops Erza and Natsu as among the few aside from Dante who can push him. [[spoiler:After Dante finally beats him in a one-on-one fight on the fourth day, Vergil congratulates his younger brother on his victory.]]
* WouldHurtAChild: He has no problem kidnapping Wendy. When Wendy uses [[BreathWeapon Sky Dragon Roar]] on him she missed and he slaps her, finding her a nuisance now as he tried to slash her, but Natsu TookTheBullet for her.
** She used her attack on Vergil again in the Temen-ni-gru during the Devil Hand arc but managed to him this time. Vergil tried to slash her again but this time Ezra got in the way with swords.
* WouldHitAGirl: Gender doesn't matter to Vergil, so long as they're in his way he'll knock them around. Though given the sheer amount of [[ActionGirl female badasses in the cast]], this is quite justified.

[[folder:Yukino Agira]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yukino_agria_gmg.jpg]]

The younger sister of Sorano Agira, a Celestial Wizard.
----
* AdaptationalModesty: Thanks to Vergil's intervention, Yukino is spared from having to [[ShamefulStrip strip naked]] in front of Sabertooth when she is expelled.
* CosmicMotifs: As a [[StarPower Celestial Wizard]], she has a star motif.
* RelatedInTheAdaptation: [[spoiler:The Devil Hand arc reveals she and Sorano are distant relatives with the Strauss siblings, all of them being descended from one of the priestesses Sparda was forced to sacrifice in order to seal Temen-ni-gru.]]

[[folder:Sting Eucliffe]]
[[quoteright:199:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ft_sting_anime.png]]

One of the Twin Dragon Slayers of Sabertooth. He is the White Dragon Slayer, raised by the Dragon Weisslogia.
----
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: Much like in canon. When he hears about how Fairy Tail stopped the corrupt Order of the Sword, he boasts that Sabertooth could have handled the job easily in five seconds, and makes mention of picking a fight with Natsu at the "crappy guildhall". He also repeatedly ignores Vergil's advice, when even Rogue bothered to diversify his style by incorporating moves inspired by Vergil. [[spoiler:Most damningly, he fell into the trap of using his White Drive and Dragon Force as a crutch, neglecting to improve his base power and plateauing his growth.]]
* BigWhat: This is his reaction when he sees Natsu eating lightning and entering Lightning Flame Dragon Mode during their match on Day 4.
* {{Sadist}}: Sting shows complete sadism and satisfaction over the people's sufferings, such as when Rufus grievously injured Eve on the Day 3 of the Grand Magic Games, and during the event of Naval Battle on Day 4, he openly laughed when Minerva brutally tortured Lucy.
* SuperMode: He has two: White Drive, which amplifies his magic power and physical ability, and Dragon Force, which boosts him even further. Unlike First Generation Dragon Slayers, he can tap into the latter at will whenever he wants. [[spoiler:However, he's fallen into the trap of using these forms like a crutch, [[UnskilledButStrong relying on them to overpower foes who could otherwise beat him and neglecting to improve his basic skills]]]].
* UnderestimatingBadassery: He completely looks down on Natsu as inferior to himself, not knowing or caring that even ''Vergil'' respects the Fire Dragon Slayer. Vergil says to his face that attitude is exactly why he'll never surpass Natsu. He gets the rude awakening of his life in their fight on Day 4.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Rogue Cheney]]
[[quoteright:244:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ft_rogue_anime.png]]

One of the Twin Dragon Slayers of Sabertooth. He is the Shadow Dragon Slayer, raised by the Dragon Skiadram.
----
* AdaptationalBadass: While he always had a sword even in canon, he never seemed to actually use it for anything other than a prop. Here, he took inspiration from Vergil and incorporated said sword into his fighting style with his Shadow Dragon Slayer Magic to create "Shadow Dragon: Sword Style". [[spoiler:Mira and Lady also sense ''demonic'' magic mixed in with his power.]]
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: Not as arrogant as Sting, but he still has the streak given he turns down Sting's offer to "show Fairy Tail their place" by saying he's not gonna go out of his way to pick on those weaker than him. [[spoiler:Plus, he also fell into the same trap as Sting by using Shadow Drive and Dragon Force as a crutch rather than constantly striving to improve.]]
* DefectorFromDecadence: [[spoiler:He admits to Lector that he and Frosch are planning to leave Sabertooth regardless of their victory or defeat once the Grand Magic Games are over, as they can no longer condone what the guild has become.]]
* PetTheDog: After Yukino's expulsion from Sabertooth, he is the only member to bid her farewell, and even gives her a parting gift of ''one million'' Jewels to help her find her feet.
* SuperMode: He has two: Shadow Drive, which amplifies his magic power and physical ability, and Dragon Force, which boosts him even further. Unlike First Generation Dragon Slayers, he can tap into the latter at will whenever he wants. [[spoiler:However, he's fallen into the trap of using these forms like a crutch, [[UnskilledButStrong relying on them to overpower foes who could otherwise beat him and neglecting to improve his basic skills]].]]
* TokenGoodTeammate: Despite his quiet and reserved manner he's easily the most moral member of Sabertooth, showing discomfort with the ruthlessness of the others and especially Jiemma.
** When Yukino is expelled from the guild he goes out his way to give her an envelope filled with ''one million'' Jewel as a last gift before she leaves, and further defends his actions when Sting tries to call him on it.
** He's the only member of Sabertooth who actually seriously considers and agrees (though not out loud) with Dante's claims they're no better than a dark guild with their attitude, while almost everyone else aside from Vergil is insulted by that statement.
** Most notably during the Naval Battle, Rogue is one of the few (along with Vergil, Lector and Frosch) that doesn't find amusement during Minerva's beatdown on Lucy, and doesn't even come to Minerva's defense when Natsu attacks her in retaliation.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lector]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lector.png]]

Sting's Exceed companion, who wholeheartedly believes in Sting's strength.
----
* CatsAreMean: He's an Exceed and a huge Jerkass to anyone who questions Sabertooth's strength. That being said he's clearly bothered by the crueler actions done by members of Sabertooth showing that while Lector may be a bit of smug jerk he's really not a bad guy.
* EveryoneHasStandards:
** Rufus’ beatdown of Eve on Day 3 of the Games disturbs Lector so much that he doesn’t celebrate the victory like he usually does with Sabertooth. He even comments that the guy went too far.
** Later, during Minerva’s NoHoldsBarredBeatdown on Lucy, Lector is completely disturbed by what is essentially torture, and is shocked to see Sting actually laughing at it.
* {{Foil}}: He is a more smug version of Happy, Fairy Tail's Team Pet. While Happy enjoys [[TheGadfly getting on people's nerves]], it's mostly in a teasing manner as opposed to Lector's smug one. And whereas Happy shows zero hesitation in teasing Natsu for his IdiotHero tendencies or the various other members of Fairy Tail for their own quirks, Lector basically acts as Sting's YesMan, and nearly every word out of his mouth is to praise his own guildmates' power.

Rogue's Exceed companion who wears a pink frog costume. Not very bright, but an honest and cheerful soul regardless.
----
* TheCutie: Frosch is easily the most innocent and harmless of Sabertooth's members.
* DumbassHasAPoint: Frosch doesn't have much in the way of common sense or obvious smarts, but they're the first outside of Fairy Tail to notice the strong resemblance between Nero and Vergil [[spoiler:without knowing of Nero's full origins]].
* TokenGoodTeammate: Is easily the nicest and most innocent member of Sabertooth.

* AdaptationalVillainy: Rufus brutally and unnecessarily beats Eve during their match [[MisplacedRetribution due to his anger at Dante]].
* AntagonistAbilities: His Memory Make gives him the ability to copy and cancel any kind of spell he sees and memorizes, giving him an almost unfair advantage in a fight.
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: His magic allows him to analyze opponents right down to their heartbeats.
* MisplacedRetribution: Is greatly angered by Dante's attack on Sabertooth and subsequent insults to their guild, and he decides to take out on his opponent, Eve of Blue Pegasus. Despite being from a completely different guild and having ''zero'' involvement in the whole thing, Rufus subjects him to ''two'' [[ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill massive attacks back to back]], requiring him to be taken to the infirmary afterward.
* PsychoticManchild: Despite his gentlemanly demeanor, whenever things don't go exactly the way Rufus wants to, he lashes out like a child, even seriously injuring someone who had no involvement in why he was angry in the first place. Vergil internally notes that this temper of his has been an issue for a while.
* {{Sadist}}: Rufus shows complete sadism and satisfaction over the people's sufferings, such as when he grievously injured Eve on the Day 3 of the Grand Magic Games, and during the event of Naval Battle on Day 4, he openly laughed when Minerva brutally tortured Lucy.

[[folder:Minerva Orland]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/minerva_orland.jpg]]

Minerva is the daughter of Jiemma, and one of the most powerful members of Sabertooth. Her multi-dimensional magic, Territory, gives her absolute control over everything she sees. Like the rest of her guild, Minerva embodies her father's creed of "survival of the fittest", cruelly stamping out those who oppose her.
----
* ActorAllusion: ''Fangs Bared'' has her explicitly berate Lucy as nothing more than an insect beneath her. Minerva's English VA Anastasia Munoz portrayed [[Literature/Overlord2012 Narberal Gamma]] who is known for her haughty nature to the point of referring to humans as various insects beneath her.
* BerserkButton: Telling her that she's a coward and weaker than Vergil. When Lucy does it, Minerva gives her a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown.
* BeautyIsNeverTarnished: Averted as Minerva suffered facial damage from Natsu who punched her directly in the face with a fire fist and later Vergil who slammed her face into the ground hard for trying to blow up Natsu inside out.
* ChildByRape: Is speculated to be one by Dante, given her [[TheSocialDarwinist father]] had considered [[spoiler:raping Yukino, but didn't due to a DarwinistDesire]].
* DirtyCoward: Vergil calls her weak for using Happy as a hostage to make Dante back off from fighting Jiemma, stating that those who use the weak as shields are weaker than they are. Lucy does the same.
* {{Expy}}: Pretty much is reminiscent of [[Anime/CodeGeass Cornelia li Britannia]], especially given the author's work on ''Fanfic/CodePrime''.
* LaserGuidedKarma: Minerva is hit with this after she brutalizes Lucy during the Naval Battle event and after it. She gets her own brutal beatdown at the hands of an enraged Natsu, and even has her face slammed into the ground by Vergil himself. And in addition, due to Minerva attacking Lucy after the event out of [[SoreLoser pure rage]], it causes her points earned in the battle to go down from nine to five, ruining the team's chance to be in the first place.
* OhCrap: Minerva's SmugSnake persona slips into a look of fear when Vergil stops her from cheap-shotting Natsu in ''Fangs Bared'' before slamming her face-first into the ground, his DeathGlare causing her to freeze up.
* SmallNameBigEgo: While she ''is'' a legitimately dangerous mage, compared to Vergil she's a small fry.
* SoreLoser: Unable to comprehend that she tied with Lucy during the event of Naval Battle, who is even weaker than her, she started to attack her in a pure rage with the intent to kill her.
* UnknownRival: According to Yukino, Minerva is determined to surpass Vergil and become the strongest member of Sabertooth. Vergil for his part doesn't seem to take her very seriously and certainly doesn't view her as a rival. Vergil later effortlessly subdues her and terrifies Minerva just by looking at her, demonstrating just how completely out of her league the oldest Son of Sparda is.

[[spoiler:By the end of the Naval Battle on Day 4, they're sharing second place with Mermaid Heel while Fairy Tail is in first, compared to how in canon they only lost the lead by the end of Day 4 with Sting and Rogue's loss in the battle portion.]]

* UnderestimatingBadassery: He completely looks down on Natsu as inferior to himself, not knowing or caring that even ''Vergil'' respects the Fire Dragon Slayer. Vergil says to his face that attitude is exactly why he'll never surpass Natsu.

* ArrogantKungFuGuy: Not as arrogant as Sting, but he still has the streak given he turns down Sting's offer to "show Fairy Tail their place" by saying he's not gonna go out of his way to pick on those weaker than him.

* AdaptationalBadass: While he always had a sword even in canon, he never seemed to actually use it for anything. Here, he took inspiration from Vergil and incorporated said sword into his fighting style with his Shadow Dragon Slayer Magic to create "Shadow Dragon: Sword Style". [[spoiler:Mira and Lady also sense ''demonic'' magic mixed in with his power.]]

* DefectorFromDecadence: [[spoiler:He admits to Lector that he and Frosch are planning to leave Sabertooth regardless of their victory or defeat once the Grand Magic Games are over, as they can no longer condone what the guild has become.]]

She also takes down Rocker and Jagen of Quatro Puppy on her own during the Day 4 triple battle after Nichiya goes down, with her fellows noting she's their ace alongside Ichiya.
