Unlike other adaptations in media where he does technically get killed fighting the monstrous Doomsday, here he was almost killed and it caused him to enter a comatose state due to his injuries until Adrianna Tereshkova, AKA Void, and Lord Emp gave him the Kherubim elixir to wake him up.
