* MyGreatestFailure: In ''HFIL'', he admits that his greatest regret in life was [[SitcomArchnemesis not choking Tien to death.]]

Trading Card Game'' tournament ban lists. When Yami Yugi objects that they're not in a tournament, Cell points out that they ''are''. The Cell Games are supposed to be a martial arts tournament but Cell thinks that's close enough.

* SuperWeight: Chillingly averted. While the original series' Imperfect Cell boasted of how many people he'd consumed with an exact number, this version simply, and creepily, says he's eaten ''enough'', and tells Trunks that his victims are beyond counting.

*** The Kenshiro fight sours Cell so much that it seems to alter his attitude for the rest of the ''Cell Vs.'' specials. When going up against [[Anime/YuYuHakusho Yusuke and Kuwabara]], [[Anime/YuGiOh Yami Yugi]], [[Franchise/StreetFighter Ken and Ryu]], and [[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog Sonic and Knuckles]], Cell is amused by the prospect of people challenging him early, and he almost never loses his cool due to the severe power gap between him and everyone else (the closest exception up until then being when he was thrown off by Ryu losing himself to the Dark Hadou). But after [[WebVideo/DubOfTheNorthStar Kenshiro]] makes a fool of him, Cell grows far more impatient with the future challengers and is less open to playing around with them. He's very quick to threaten [[Anime/DeathNote Light Yagami]] with death when the latter enters the ring, quickly becomes irritated with [[Anime/{{Pokemon}} Ash Ketchum]] thinking that he's a Pokemon, and is full-out annoyed by [[ComicBook/{{Deadpool}} Deapool's]] [[BreakingTheFourthWall fourth-wall breaking schtick.]] It doesn't help that, by this point, Cell starts [[LampshadeHanging lampshading]] that all of these fighters straight-up ignore that he set an ''actual date'' for them to challenge him. It's to the point where he's actually relieved that [[Anime/OnePunchMan Saitama]] just planned on waiting for the tournament to start, as it made him the first person to follow the rules Cell set.

* EstablishingCharacterMoment: The very first scene in Episode 43.

* SelfRecoverySurprise: He can regrow limbs that are torn out or blasted away and this is a nasty surprise for the people trying to stop him more than once. [[spoiler:HFIL reveals he shocked ''himself'' with his own regenerative capabilities after his apparent suicide attack since not even he knew he'd survive it.]]

* FatalFlaw: For his Perfect Form: hubris, quite possibly coming from his Saiyan genes. [[spoiler:His BloodKnight tendencies mostly come from Goku's and causes him to seek greater challenges and Gohan's speech about his inner suppressed rage makes the Vegeta in him come out. After torturing Gohan physically and mentally to his breaking point he gets thoroughly beaten with little chance to fight back, not unlike the beating he dealt to Vegeta. Once he returns after his first apparent defeat he gets so caught up in his beam struggle that he arrogantly forgets about the only other person on the planet that could harm him which gives Gohan the opening he needed to finish Cell once and for all.]]

* BadassNormal: Even with everyone's ki in HFIL sealed away Cell still has 150 years of martial arts experience from the strongest warriors the galaxy has to offer, meaning he's still ''ridiculously'' capable fighter and likey the strongest resident of HFIL, which he masterfully demonstrates when he takes on the Ginyu Force all at once and wins without taking a scratch.

* BreakoutCharacter: One of the most popular character in the series, extensively featured in specials like the ''Cell Vs.'' series. He's also one of the main characters in the spin-off ''WebAnimation/{{HFIL}}''.

** In episode 60 part 2, [[spoiler:[[DarkReprise he sings it again in a]] CreepyMonotone when he comes back.]] In the same episode, he sings a cover of ''Suddenly'' after he [[InLoveWithYourCarnage falls in love with Gohan beating the shit out of his kids]].

* BreakoutCharacter: One of the most popular character in the series, extensively featured in specials like the ''Cell Vs.'' series.

* AdaptationRelationshipOverhaul: Attempted. Cell in canon never really cared for 16, dismissing him as an older and inferior model that gets in his way one too many times and earns his irritation. Abridged Cell attempts to get on 16's good side a couple of times when he becomes Perfect, actually expressing frustration when his attempts fall flat. That said, this seems to be a bit of FauxAffablyEvil on his part, as the second he realizes 16's bomb is no longer implemented, he destroys him with hesitation while "lamenting" how they couldn't reconcile their differences. And then, of course, he caves his head in while he's talking with Gohan.

** In his best moments he is still an EndearinglyDorky [[GenkiGirl Genki Guy]]. When Android 16 flat-out says they're not friends, Cell cries out "I'm trying!" in frustration, implying that his chummy attitude towards the android is completely genuine.

* EnemyMine: Averted. Even Cell's desire to kill Goku isn't enough to get Android 16 to like him.

* FriendlyEnemy: While his moments of civility are usually insincere, he seems to genuinely like Android 16, losing his temper after one rejection too many. He and Goku also [[BirdsOfAFeather get along swimmingly]] once he reaches his Perfect form, with Cell outright admitting he enjoys their interactions. He and [[Webcomic/OnePunchMan Saitama]] actually bond a bit during their short, first over [[spoiler:watching Genos get [[RunningGag stomped]]]] and saying the exact same thing, and then with Saitama actually following the rules set in the tournament to wait [[spoiler:plus feeling disappointed when Saitama had to leave in order to get to the Sunday sale at his supermarket]].

* LackOfEmpathy: He tries to chat with Android 16 despite the fact that he killed his family and blew part of his head, simply thinking that they are cool now because both want to kill Goku.

** This is much like Goku seems to think that Vegeta is his "best buddy" after their fight. Makes sense as Cell is 10% of Goku, as Android 16 ironically noted himself.

* FinalBoss: Because [=TeamFourStar=] has no plans to adapt the Buu saga, Cell is the final challenge.

* AdaptationalDumbass: In the original, when Cell decides to blow up numerous islands to draw out Android 18, 16 states that Cell knows she's powerful enough to survive the blast, and thus, give away her current location, 18's concern being that 16 wouldn't be able to survive in his damaged state. Here, Cell explicitly acknowledges the possibility that he destroyed 18 already, and goes on to try to destroy the last island anyway, not having any contingency in mind for the idea that her permanently prevented himself from reaching his Perfect Form.

* AdaptationalNiceGuy: While he's still a villain with a long list of heinous crimes, he's a lot more sincere at times and [[AffablyEvil is completely genuine]] in these moments of hospitality, being openly friendly to [[WorthyOpponent Goku]] and [[ButtMonkey Yamcha]]. And while both versions plan to KillAllHumans, he simply intends to destroy the planet, as opposed to canon Cell who would have personally murdered every person on Earth.

* TheFightingNarcissist: Similar to his canon counterpart, he refers to his body as a "beautiful temple" and is obsessed with attaining perfection through consuming other lifeforms. Notably, [[spoiler:his reason for self-destructing seems to have more to do with him being royally pissed about Super Saiyan 2 Gohan reverting him to his Semi-Perfect form than him deeming the fight unwinnable. He's a lot more at peace with his second loss to Gohan seemingly because he got to die in his Perfect form that time.]]

* FaceDeathWithDignity: [[ParodiedTrope Parodied.]] He launches into "My Way" the same as Perfect Cell, but his incredibly small amount of screentime means he doesn't even get past the first verse before dying.

* NiceJobFixingItVillain: His main timeline counterpart gloating about how he got back in time in his BreakingSpeech to Trunks lead to making it impossible for this Cell to ambush him and start the whole thing over again.

* SureLetsGoWithThat: Future Cell decides to go with the name Cell when Trunks calls him this. He says the reason for this is because it's way better than the name he was considering. He was thinking about calling himself [[spoiler:[[Anime/DragonBallSuper Jiren]], but thought [[TakeThat it was a little too boring]].]]

** By contrast, he utterly ''despises'' Tien for blasting him with the Kikoho over and over. He wished to fight Tien when Goku was selecting a new combatant, and the fatal blast he hit Trunks with in Episode 60 was actually meant for Tien. Even after death, he reveals in ''HFIL'' ep. 7 that his greatest regret was not choking the life out of Tien.
