* AdaptationalBadass: While the Shakkoumon in ''Anime/DigimonAdventure02'' was an impressive fighter, capable to absorb [=BlackWarGreymon=]'s attack and hit him hard, it still didn't have a lot of important victories on its own and was often overshadowed by other Jogress of his group. The Shakkoumon here is significantly bigger in size than the original, with attack stats in proportion, and doesn't even flinch against attacks from [=WarGreymon=] ''and'' Garudamon before they can calm it down.

** This Leomon had also been fighting Devimon's army for quite a while on top of having an entire resistance to back him, where he originally was alone and immediately enslaved by Devimon and only brought the children directly to Devimon for their fateful battle upon being freed.
* AdaptationalPersonalityChange: Leomon has been TheStoic in all continuities, to the point the only times he really changed his expression was when mind-controlled by dark forces. This version of him has much more emotional range, becoming puzzled and shocked by the Chosen Ones a couple times. He was also a bit of a loner in previous series, requiring some character development to tag along, while this time he leads a band of Digimon.

* AdaptationalVillainy: Downplayed, as it was hardly a villain to begin with. In ''Anime.DigimonAdventure02'', it was a partner Digimon formed through Jogress, and in ''Anime/DigimonFusion'', it assisted the Xros Heart army in obtaining the Heaven Zone's Code Crown. Here, it's an ancient guardian that initially attacks Taichi and Sora under the assumption that they're with the Darkness Amy.

* AdaptationalBadass: Zigzagged. Gerbemon isn't a terribly powerful Digimon and, in ''Adventure'', three of them are taken out by Lilimon, [=MetalGreymon=] and [=MetalGarurumon=]. For comedic effect, Gerbemon's Poop Bazooka attack does very little to stop [=MetalGreymon=]'s Giga Destroyer, simply getting knocked away with no resistance. [[LethalJokeCharacter However, it also has a black hole in its trashcan that can suck up unsuspecting foes, which it almost did to Hikari.]] Here, while Gerbemon doesn't do a lot of fighting, it's an inventor that wields a bazooka that shoots ''ice'' instead of poop, and its inventions go a long way in helping take down Raremon. In addition, it still has the black hole and attempts to use it against Burpmon. Of course, considering this is [[{{Kevlard}} Burpmon]] we're talking about, it's not very effective.
* AdaptationalHeroism: The Gerbemon trio in the original ''Adventure'' were minions to the Dark Master Pinochimon, and actively attacked the heroes on command. Here, it's a heroic character driven by revenge for the deaths of his assistants that becomes fast friends with Koushiro. It also reappears to help the Chosen Ones discover the meanings behind their Crests.
* AdaptationalIntelligence: The Gerbemons from ''Adventure'' were just thugs, while this one is an intellectual with a great knowledge of machines.

In the [[Manga/DigimonXrosWars manga]], it even became a more permanent partner to Taiki's ImpliedLoveInterest Akari Hinomoto. Here, while it's definitely a major player, it's obviously not a partner Digimon.
* TheMedic: It has the ability to heal its allies, making it useful in helping Rebellimon take down Boltmon.
* MoralityPet: It becomes this to Rebellimon, causing it to rush forward to save it when it goes after Boltmon.
* OurFairiesAreDifferent: It's listed as a fairy type.
* VerbalTic: It has a tendency to say "kyu" quite often. Unlike its ''Fusion'' counterpart however, it doesn't say them after each sentence.

An ancient type Digimon that opened a school on the Cloud Continent sometime after Devimon's defeat. Despite looking like an old lady, Babamon is much more powerful than her appearance would suggest.

* AdaptationalBadass: In most continuities, Babamon has usually been portrayed as a more average Mega level in terms of power, being a good fighter in her own right but not a whole lot compared to other Megas. A notable example is in ''Anime/DigimonTamers'' where a Babamon and a Jijimon were easily pushed back by Renamon, who is a Rookie level (albeit one with a ton of battle experience). Here, in stark contrast, she delivers a CurbStompBattle to Mimi and Lilimon and later holds her own against a fellow Mega level in [=BanchoMamemon=], demonstrating in the process an impressive array of magical abilities she had never used onscreen.
* BroomstickQuarterstaff: Her signature weapon is a broomstick, which she can use as a regular battering weapon, [[BlowYouAway blow opponents away with its "Empress Haze" attack]], or create several more broomsticks to serve as obstacles.
* CoolOldLady: She looks like an elderly woman, but she's powerful enough to hold her own against other Megas.
* MadeOfIron: Blocks Togemon's and Lilimon's strongest attacks by simply turning away and parrying them with her back, all while joking about how they help her with her back aches.
* MyGreatestFailure: [=BanchoMamemon=], who turned into a delinquent and left Babamon's school.
* TheNicknamer: Calls Mimi "Mimimon" when she enrolls, despite her being a human.
* SternTeacher: Following [=BanchoMamemon's=] departure from her school, she had become considerably more strict in teaching her students so they don't end up like him.
* SoProudOfYou: By the end of her episode, she becomes proud of Mimi for surpassing her initial expectations, as well as her and Rosemon taking down [=BanchoMamemon=].

* AdaptationalBadass: Often a NonActionGuy or cooky old man in most continuities, but is able to handle an entire gang of Mamemon and [=BigMamemon=] with little effort in the reboot.
* BlindingBangs: His hair's long enough to cover his entire face, though occasionally his left eye will show.
* CarryABigStick: It wields a staff whose tip resembles Tailmon's paw, which it uses for physical strikes.
* CoolOldGuy: A kind old man who's able to take down Ultimate levels with ease.

A mutant Digimon that acquired the title of "Bancho". It was once a student in Babamon's school until it became a delinquent and left, due to believing that being a Mega level was all it took to be strong. After a heated battle with Mimi and Rosemon, it atoned for its ways.

* AdaptationalJerkass: [=BanchoMamemon=] is a rebellious yet heroic figure in the mythos, whereas this one is more of a dangerous delinquent and bully. He repents by the end of his debut, however.
* BatterUp: It uses its signature Ougon Batto ("Golden Bats") to fight, and it can also fire several Black Hickeys, living baseballs, from its tips. They can also form into giant baseballs, or even [[PlayingWithFire giant flaming ones]].
* BreakTheHaughty: Mimi and Rosemon do this to him over the course of their fight, breaking his pride and making him see that the Mega level by itself isn't everything.
* {{Cephalothorax}}: Like all Mamemon species, [=BanchoMamemon=] is a head with arms and legs.

A beast man hybrid Digimon that Yamato and Gabumon meet. His home was wiped out when Zanbamon awoke from its prison, and he now lives with other Digimon whose homes were destroyed by the demon.

* AscendedExtra: Strabimon is the prior form of Wolfmon and Garummon, the human and beast spirits belonging to TheLancer of ''Anime/DigimonFrontier'', Kouji Minamoto. Despite this, it never had an anime appearance until its episode. For bonus points, its first anime appearance has it co-star with its inspiration, Garurumon.

The Nanomon here, by ''immense'' contrast, initially appears to be a full-on bad guy, but was actually a far nicer iteration of the Digimon that was simply being controlled.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Due to the Soundbirdmon transforming his desire to meet Koushiro into an obsession with surpassing him.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Turns out to be the case. In reality, it idolizes Koushiro and just wanted to get to know him; the Soundbirdmon turned that innocent desire into something darker.

* AdaptationalBadass: The Nanimon in the original ''Digimon Adventure'' boasted to have never lost a fight, but then revealed that it only never lost because it always ran away, and promptly did so when Greymon, Garurumon, Kabuterimon, Togemon and Ikkakumon all ganged up on it. Here, while still not very strong, they actually fight back against [=TonosamaGekomon=] when it's in control of the hot springs.
