* AdaptationalNiceGuy: The Nanomon from the original was the BeleagueredAssistant to Etemon who, while initially appearing to be an ally, turned out to have one too many screws loose from Etemon punching him in the head, capturing Sora and Piyomon and making a clone of her to use the Crest of Love that he had in his possession. The Nanomon here, by ''immense'' contrast, initially appears to be a full-on bad guy, but was actually a far nicer iteration of the Digimon that was simply being controlled.

* DarkIsNotEvil: Turns out to be the case. In reality, it idolizes Izzy and just wanted to get to know him; the Soundbirdmon turned that innocent desire into something darker.
* DeadlyGame: Challenges Izzy to one of these by giving him riddles to solve; if he guesses wrong, one of his friends is taken away to be turned into a Nanomon.

For comedic effect, Garbagemon's Poop Bazooka attack does very little to stop [=MetalGreymon=]'s Giga Blaster, simply getting knocked away with no resistance. [[LethalJokeCharacter However, it also has a black hole in its trashcan that can suck up unsuspecting foes, which it almost did to Kari.]] Here, while Garbagemon doesn't do a lot of fighting, it's an inventor that wields a bazooka that shoots ''ice'' instead of poop, and its inventions go a long way in helping take down Raremon. It ''can'' still fire poop, but this time Garbagemon uses it to trip up an enemy Digimon instead of using it for direct offense. In addition, it still has the black hole and attempts to use it against Burpmon. Of course, considering this is [[{{Kevlard}} Burpmon]] we're talking about, it's not very effective.
* AdaptationalHeroism: The Garbagemon trio in the original ''Adventure'' were minions to the Dark Master Puppetmon, and actively attacked the heroes on command. Here, it's a heroic character driven by revenge for the deaths of his assistants that becomes fast friends with Izzy. * HelpfulMook: Though they initially mistake Taichi and Sora for intruders, they allow them to help fend off the invading Tuskmon army, as well as Ogremon's forces.

A rabbit-like beast Digimon with red pants. It's seen looking after several Digimon in the Cloud Continent's desert while Yamato, Sora and Jou are split from the rest of the group, being terrorized by Scorpiomon. Later, it's seen alongside several other Digimon creating a new village.

* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:Even as his power starts to fail, Guardromon prevents Andromon from slashing Mimi apart, turning the powerful android and his crushing foot in his direction. Guardromon’s last moments of heroism gives Mimi the emotions she needs to fuel Togemon’s evolution to Lilimon for the first time.]]

A humanoid lion Digimon, Leomon helped rescue Taichi and Yamato in Episode 19 from Valvemon's forces. He's the leader of the resistance force against Devimon.

* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: He beat Megadramon, a Digimon ''a level above his own'', while serving as distraction for Taichi and Yamato in Episode 20. He did have an assist from a Peckmon and was shown to be quite injured after the fact however.

A group of Digimon that frequently visit the hot springs that Jou and Gomamon find themselves in after being separated in the fight against [=DarkKnightmon=]. The Nanimon are a group of spherical Digimon with sunglasses and beards, while Blossomon is a giant flower.

** Nanimon in the original ''Adventure'' was an enemy trainer for Vamdemon's army, albeit one who ran away almost immediately when it spotted trouble. The bunch of Nanimon seen here, while initially appearing antagonistic due to picking on Jou, are willing to help him fight for the hot springs when [=TonosamaGekomon=] takes them over.

* FireForgedFriends: With Jou, kind of. Even though no fighting took place, they did still mess with him for the entire time he was at the hot springs. Despite this, Jou considers all of them friends and is willing to help take back the hot springs for them. They reciprocate the favor in kind, helping to defeat [=TonosamaGekomon=].

* '''Champion''': Turuiemon, a humanoid rabbit martial-artist. Briefly glimpsed when Lopmon shows Taichi and Sora their memories..
* '''Ultimate''': Andiramon, a tall, thin rabbit warrior. Briefly glimpsed when Lopmon shows Taichi and Sora their memories.

* MrExposition: Tells Taichi and Sora more about the Ancient War, who the enemy is and some details about Digimon rebirth to boot.

A group of five large canine Digimon that double as vehicles, awakened by Lopmon to help evacuate the residents of a forest. One stays behind to take Taichi, Sora, and Takeru to find Hikari, and later, after the rest of the Chosen Ones reunite, takes them to FAGA.

* EatingOptional: The one that carries Taichi and friends is shown to eat at one point, but by that point has already gone for more than a day without food.

* IntelligibleUnintelligible: They speak by barking, which only Tailmon (who ironically is a ''cat'') can understand.

* SuperNotDrowningSkills: It can breath underwater and acts as a full-fledged submarine, which proves useful when Tailmon directs it to an underwater current.

A bird-like Plant Digimon. Unlike most birds, although it can fly, it's far more used to being on the ground than flying. Initially there's only one, being the only one left of its kind to not be turned into a fruit yet by Tropiamon, but it happens to encounter Taichi and Sora, who helped it free its friends, and eventually it manages to do so during the commotion set by Taichi and Sora. It's eventually seen helping build a new village, and has learned to fly by then.

A mutant Digimon that lives in a trashcan. Gerbemon is an inventor that Taichi and Koshiro meet, who aims to take revenge on Raremon for his Tyumon assistants' demises.

* AdaptationalBadass: Zigzagged. Gerbemon isn't a terribly powerful Digimon and, in ''Adventure'', three of them are taken out by Lilimon, [=MetalGreymon=] and [=MetalGarurumon=]. For comedic effect, Gerbemon's Poop Bazooka attack does very little to stop [=MetalGreymon=]'s Giga Destroyer, simply getting knocked away with no resistance. [[LethalJokeCharacter However, it also has a black hole in its trashcan that can suck up unsuspecting foes, which it almost did to Hikari.]] Here, while Gerbemon doesn't do a lot of fighting, it's an inventor that wields a bazooka that shoots ''ice'' instead of poop, and its inventions go a long way in helping take down Raremon. It ''can'' still fire poop, but this time Gerbemon uses it to trip up an enemy Digimon instead of using it for direct offense. In addition, it still has the black hole and attempts to use it against Burpmon. Of course, considering this is [[{{Kevlard}} Burpmon]] we're talking about, it's not very effective.
* AdaptationalHeroism: The Gerbemon trio in the original ''Adventure'' were minions to the Dark Master Pinochimon, and actively attacked the heroes on command. Here, it's a heroic character driven by revenge for the deaths of his assistants that becomes fast friends with Koshiro. It also reappears to help the Chosen Ones discover the meanings behind their Crests.
* AdaptationalIntelligence: The Gerbemons from ''Adventure'' were just thugs, while this one is an intellectual with a great knowledge of machines.
* GarbageHideout: Gerbemon is always seen hiding in a trashcan.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Its motivation for fighting Raremon. Gerbemon had several Tyumon partners that were eaten by Raremon, with only one left over from the carnage.
* SlippingIntoStink: How the Poop Bazooka is used this time around. Gerbemon fires it under an enemy Golemon's foot, causing it to slip and fall on its allies.

* '''Rookie''': Tyumon, its initial stage. A purple mouse with a goofy face.

* AdaptationalHeroism: The first Tyumon seen in anime canon was one of ThoseTwoGuys with Scumon, who initially antagonized Mimi and Palmon when they were separated from the group by Devimon. Shortly after, they became allies and helped Mimi, with Tyumon later going so far as to take a hit from Piemon to save her. Here, Tyumon is already a helpful assistant to Gerbemon and helps Koshiro in taking down Raremon.

* {{Foil}}: To Garurumon. Both love to race, but while Garurumon gains its confidence through riding with Yamato, Machmon is controlled by Parasimon and only let itself be possessed for glory.

* HandicappedBadass: Its left arm was broken by Tyranomon, making it unsure of its ability to fire arrows. Despite this, it still helps Taichi save Jou.

A puppet Digimon resembling a mechanical beaver. It leads several Digimon in barricading the active volcano island that they live on. It later assists Jou against [=TonosamaGekomon=], and is seen leading the construction of the new Digimon village.

An amphibian Digimon that appeared in the hot springs where Jou and Gomamon stayed at. He dried up every hot spring except the one he had specifically made for himself, and forcibly made Gomamon his bride. After being defeated by Zudomon, it becomes an ally to the Chosen Ones.

* AdaptationalLateAppearance: A [=TonosamaGekomon=] appeared in the original ''Adventure'', but it was during the early stages of the Vamdemon arc, where Taichi was looking for the other Chosen Children after they split up to look for him. In the reboot, it's encountered after [[spoiler:Millenniumon]] is taken out, which serves a similar ClimaxBoss role to Vamdemon. Notably, [=TonosamaGekomon's=] appearance is in episode 53, which in the original anime is the penultimate episode where [[TrueFinalBoss Apocalymon]] makes its entrance.

* AscendedExtra: Kabukimon is a form that Tailmon can take with the Digimental of Purity, but had rarely been used outside of being soldiers in the [[Anime/DigimonFusion Bagra Army]]. Here, it's a much more active character.

* AdaptationalBadass: In most continuities, Babamon has usually been portrayed as a more average Mega level in terms of power, being a good fighter in her own right but not a whole lot compared to other Megas. A notable example is in ''Anime/DigimonTamers'' where a Babamon and a Jijimon were easily pushed back by Renamon, who is a Rookie level (albeit one with a ton of battle experience). Here, in stark contrast, she delivers a CurbStompBattle to Mimi and Lilimon and later holds her own against a fellow Mega level in [=BanchoMamemon=], demonstrating in the process an impressive array of magical abilities she had never used onscreen.

* MadeOfIron: Blocks Togemon's and Lilimon's strongest attacks by simply turning away and parrying them with her back, all while joking about how they help her with her back aches.

* CarryABigStick: It wields a staff whose tip resembles Tailmon's paw, which it uses for physical strikes.

A beast man hybrid Digimon that Yamato and Gabumon meet. His home was wiped out when Zanbamon awoke from its prison, and he now lives with other Digimon whose homes were destroyed by the demon.

A machine Digimon that initially antagonizes Koshiro into playing a game with it. It's revealed that it's a friend of Gerbemon that was only acting under mind control via Soundbirdmon, and is thus counted as an ally instead of an enemy.

* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Due to the Soundbirdmon transforming his desire to meet Koshiro into an obsession with surpassing him.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Turns out to be the case. In reality, it idolizes Koshiro and just wanted to get to know him; the Soundbirdmon turned that innocent desire into something darker.
* DeadlyGame: Challenges Koshiro to one of these by giving him riddles to solve; if he guesses wrong, one of his friends is taken away to be turned into a Nanomon.

* AloofAlly: It's the last Digimon whose hope is restored by Takeru, and helps out immensely afterward.

A mutant Digimon that watched over the wasteland in ancient times, before being sealed away by the Puttimon and Cupimon it protected so it would no longer get hurt. It awoke while Taichi and Sora were helping build the Digimon village, still believing the battle was ongoing. It was calmed down by Hououmon's Starlight Explosion.

* AdaptationalVillainy: Downplayed, as it was hardly a villain to begin with. In ''Anime/DigimonAdventure02'', it was a partner Digimon formed through Jogress Evolution, and in ''Anime/DigimonFusion'', it assisted the Xros Heart army in obtaining the Heaven Zone's Code Crown. Here, it's an ancient guardian that initially attacks Taichi and Sora under the assumption that they're with the Darkness Amy.
* DecompositeCharacter: Shakkoumon was famously the Jogress evolution of Takeru's Angemon and Iori Hida's Ankylomon in ''Anime/DigimonAdventure02''. Here, it's a separate character that has nothing to do with Patamon.

A warrior-type Digimon clad in silver armor, who is always accompanied by its golden bird Freyja. It fought in the ancient war and fell in battle, but consigned its soul to the Digital World to continue its duties. It tests Taichi to see whether he's worthy of the Crest of Courage.

* DieOrFly: It sends Taichi to the ancient Digital World by hitting him with its [[{{BFS}} Fenrir Sword]], testing his resolve in the face of danger without his friends. This event nets Taichi the Crest of Courage.

* LotusEaterMachine: It uses its sword as one of these to set of a test of courage for Taichi in a simulated DeathWorld. The sword breaks when he passes.
