* ExpressiveMask: A rare live action example, as the (CGI) eye holes of Deadpool's mask widen and narrow with his emotion.

* AdaptationalHeroism: A minor case. Deadpool is still definitely a HeroicComedicSociopath, but he also genuinely and honestly loves Vanessa, and his love for her is presented as his biggest redeeming quality. Prior to getting his powers, the movie goes to great lengths to show that [[NeverHurtAnInnocent he would never kill anyone who didn't deserve it]], and that he has a much stronger moral compass than the average mercenary. Case in point: the first thing he does onscreen is [[EstablishingCharacterMoment scare off a teenage stalker who was harassing a young girl]]. While Deadpool did love Vanessa in the comics, their relationship didn't work due to outside factors, and he always insisted that he was a violent sadist long before the Weapon X project got ahold of him.

* MotorMouth: He. Never. Shuts. Up. EVER.
** Angel Dust isn't on screen for 30 seconds before she gets so tired of hearing him that she forcibly covers his mouth and then gags him. Does this keep him from talking? Not a chance--he continues to mumble unintelligibly through the cloth stuffed in his pie hole.

* NeverHurtAnInnocent: Says early on that he only goes after people that he feels have done something to deserve it. He even offers to spare the soldiers working for Ajax, because he sees them as just a problem by merit of who signs their paychecks, and when that fails he still avoids killing one of them when it's revealed that he's his old friend Bob.

* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: His hunt for Ajax is partially motivated by revenge and also because the mutant claims that he can repair his face.

** Keeps up the jokes after his cancer diagnosis. When Vanessa finds him brooding by the window near tears in the middle of the night, he snarks that he had a nightmare about being hunted down by Creator/LiamNeeson and rambles about ''Film/{{Taken}}'' for a bit.
** This even continues into his Deadpool persona. His facade of goofy fun hides a deeply self-loathing man who can't even muster up the courage to talk to the woman he loves because of his disfigurement.

* WouldHitAGirl: Though he's unsure if it would be more or less sexist to NOT hit a female mook. [[spoiler: It cuts away right after he pulls out a gun, still angsting about it.]]

* AdaptationalWimp: In the comics, Colossus is damn near unstoppable when he wants to be. In this movie, Angel Dust, whom Wade was able to knock backwards with a headbutt at one point, is able to take him on in a fight that ''isn't'' hilariously one-sided, including using leverage against him in a situation that shouldn't have been possible with his strength. Late in their fight, she starts choking Colossus out with a steel cable. In the comics, Colossus doesn't need to breathe in his armored form at all, at least for a few minutes at a time.

* DramaPreservingHandicap: His tendency to ''always'' forget his duffel bag filled with guns just makes things harder for him whenever he fights. He can still kick a lot of ass with two swords and [[CatchPhrase maximum effort]], but even a bit of extra ammo would make killing Ajax easier.

* EvilIsPetty: He makes a point of being ''especially'' cruel to Wade for no adequate reason other than the fact Pool keeps making jokes ([[BerserkButton and calling him Francis]]).

* FeelNoPain: His only ability is feeling absolutely no pain. It serves as a bit of a counter to Pool's powers, which allow him to heal, but he feels every strike, while Ajax doesn't heal but can feel nothing.

* IronicName: Mr. Freeman holds many prisoners as lab experiments.

* LineOfSightName: Ajax comes from the laundry cleaner, at least according to Wade.

* BoobsOfSteel: The physically strongest woman of the movie, and also the one with most cleveage.

* LineOfSightName: At Sister Margaret's Home for Wayward Girls, a bar for mercenaries and hired guns, there's a "deadpool" in which the patrons place money based on who among them they think will die next. Wade takes his codename after being reminded that Weasel bet on him in the deadpool.

An exotic dancer who ends up in a relationship with Wade Wilson shortly before he's diagnosed with cancer.

* OlderThanHeLooks: Not really portrayed as such, but FridgeLogic tells us that if ''Film/XMenDaysOfFuturePast'' was the ''only'' change in timeline, he is actually in his ''70s''.

* NotSoAboveItAll: She can't resist laughing at Deadpool injuring himself while he's trying to hit Colossus.

* DefeatByModesty: Inverted. Her left breast gets exposed during her fight with Colossus, who is kind enough to pause the battle and let her readjust her top. And then she uses the opportunity to sucker punch him.
