* AdaptationalVillainy: Kyoko becomes infected with the Remembering Disease and murders Mondo, then attempts frame Hina, Byakuya and Syo for the crime.

** Unlike Peko, whose execution is almost the same as in ''Danganronpa 2'', Chiaki has a brand new execution in this story, hinting at the fact that this is not the real Chiaki.

* AdaptationalHeroism: Zigzagged. Unlike her canon counterpart, Sayaka wasn't trying to murder someone and she killed Hifumi by accident. But as a result, she became the blackened and she does everything in her power to escape death, even resorting to take Aoi as a hostage at knifepoint after the class trial ends.

* SoftSpokenSadist: She is described as sounding like a friendly and innocent girl even while behaving in an utterly depraved and malicious manner. This trait completely disappears when Mahiru manages to instill hope in the others and she suffers a VillainousBreakdown.

* NotSoStoic: She completely when Mahiru is able to restore hope to the rest of the survivors and eventually gets into an Argument Armament with her. She's also clearly angered that Nagito was able to outsmart her in Chapter 5 and treats him with open disdain.

* TheRival: If Monokuma's reaction to Nagito's "death" in Chapter 5 and how aggressive she is towards him in the final trial, she seems to absolutely ''loathe'' Nagito, which is not hard to see why from [[BigBad her perspective]] given who Nagito is. This gets extended to Mahiru by the end as well due to Mahiru's continued determination in the face of Chiaki's Despair.

Both of them are stoic and reserved martial artists who end up being executed as culprits, but whereas Peko was a BitchInSheepsClothing who didn't care about any of the other students except Fuyuhiko, Sakura's kindness was no act and she only puts up a fight during her trial so that [[ZeroApprovalGambit Hina will hate her for being a traitor instead of mourning the loss of her friend.]] Whereas Peko had no problem sacrificing the others for the sake of her revenge and [[SoreLoser voted for Mahiru out of pure spite once the latter had proven her guilt]], Sakura [[FaceDeathWithDignity calmly accepts her guilt and execution after she is proven to be the culprit.]] Meanwhile, Peko would actually be a better person if her memories hadn't been forcibly tampered with, While Sakura would be a much worse person if her memories hadn't been forcibly tampered with.

* NiceGuy: By far one of the nicest people on Jabberwock Island, it's even stated by Mukuro that he is probably one of the only purely good people among the students.

* TheHeart: She's a kind, friendly girl who's absolutely nice to everyone, and does her best to keep the groups spirit's up during the Killing Game, even after she becomes the Chapter 2 culprit, none of the others have anything bad to say about her.
