That was more a joke than an example of cloudcuckoolander-ness

* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Excitable, loud, easily distracted, and prone to following some truly bizarre trains of thought. Take a look at what he named his zombie thralls. Also refers to volcanoes as "nature's candles". One can only wonder what turns his life took that his two strongest skills are necromancy and candle-making.

!Guest Party Members

Other Player Characters who are not a part of Vox Machina, who have come into the adventure for one reason or another. Their motives for helping out the party are their own, and they do create interesting dynamics within the group.

!!The Slayer's Take

A varied and colorful group of individuals introduced in "The Trial of the Take" arc. Two characters are assigned to each of the two teams, composed of one member-to-be and one already established and inducted into the guild.

'''Team 1''', consisting of Vex, Percy, Grog, and Scanlan join Lyra the Human Wizard and Zahra Hydrus the Tiefling Warlock in hunting down an adult white dragon. '''Team 2''', consisting of Vax, Keyleth, and Tiberius join Thorbir Falbek the Dwarven Fighter and Brother Kashaw Vesh the Human Cleric in hunting down a Rakshasa, a demon from the Nine Hells. Compared to the first team whose journey was a standard hunt, Team 2's journey has a rather different tone, starting off in the form of a murder mystery which leads to the party in hot pursuit towards their quarry. Also, with the exception of Keyleth, the rest of the party in Team 2 are rather grumpy and prefer finishing the contract as fast as possible.

By the end of their contracts, they all consider the members of Vox Machina to be [[FireForgedFriends worthy allies and brothers-in-arms before parting ways.]]

-->'''Race:''' Human
-->'''Class:''' Wizard (School of Transmutation)

A precocious little klutz of an arcane spell caster. Appointed Leader of the first group, she has a lot of stories about her lover(?) Aldor, which seems to get on almost everyone's nerves (except Scanlan). She was granted membership to the Slayer's guild on a technicality, but what that technicality is, is ambiguous at best.
----
* {{Adorkable}}: [[https://twitter.com/VoiceOfOBrien/status/626945734818934784 Lampshaded by Liam.]]
* AmusingInjuries: Lyra had scoliosis, which while explains her dismal Dexterity, is [[LampshadeHanging apparently funny.]]
* BlackMagicianGirl: As an arcane spell caster, this is a given.
* {{Catchphrase}}: Due to her inexperience and lack of confidence, she says "As the leader..." a lot.
* CloudCuckooLander: Despite her high Intelligence, Lyra is probably one CatchPhrase away from being this.
* CuteClumsyGirl: Introduced tripping right on her face.
* DisadvantageousDisintegration: Her Disintegrate spell.
* FriendlessBackground: While not dwelt upon, she does mention at some point that she's never had friends before.
* GeniusDitz: True to Felicia form, but she has the highest Intelligence out of all the Player Characters to this point and specializes in transmutation.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: Played for laughs, but it's actually rather sad.
* TheLeader: Appointed Leader of the first group.
* {{Meganekko}}: Kit Buss's official artwork of Lyra depicts her as wearing glasses.
* MotorMouth: Just don't get her started on Aldor... or anything, really.
* PlayingWithFire: Knows Fireball and Fire Bolt.
* RedOniBlueOni: The Red to Zahra's Blue.
* ShockAndAwe: One of her spells is Chain Lightning.
* SpoiledSweet: Lyra, as the niece of the Emon trade ambassador to Vasselheim, comes from money and is very kind-hearted, but her social skills are a tad underdeveloped.
* StalkerWithACrush: All but outright said with Aldor, another member of the Slayer's Take.
* WardrobeMalfunction: After falling on her face and spilling papaya over her robe and the floor, she experiences one of these when she tries to brush it off of her.

[[quoteright:300:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zahra_avatar.jpg]]
-->'''Race:''' Tiefling
-->'''Class:''' Warlock (Pact of the Great Old One)

A powerful, no-nonsense tiefling warlock who was a Slayer's Take Guild Member hopeful. She initially tried to assert dominance over Vox Machina, and immediately started a small rivalry with Vex'ahlia. But after finding some common ground with a disappeared mother, and a Jerkass father, Zahra mellowed down, and helped the first group defeat Rimefang.
----
* AbusiveParents: Offhandedly mentions her father kept her locked in a cage.
* DealWithTheDevil: Warlock class in 5th Edition gain their power from appealing to a demonic pact, dealing with the Fey, or encountering a Cthulu-esque eldritch Great Old One. Zahra chose the Great Old One.
* DefrostingIceQueen: While initially somewhat haughty and distant, she proves to be a loyal ally and clearly considers Vox Machina to be good friends of hers by the time their mission is complete. When Vox Machina meets her cousin Lillith, it's mentioned that Zahra spoke quite highly of the team.
* TheDragonslayer: Scored the epic final blow against Rimefang.
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: Quoth Vex, "I've got a crush on Zahra."
* LadyOfBlackMagic
* MeaningfulName: Her last name, Hydrus, is the name of a southern constellation symbolizing a water snake.
* MonochromaticEyes: Her pupils and irises are silver, which has this effect in her portrait.
* MysticalWhiteHair: Zahra's portrait shows that she has white hair; her class shows that she has an eldritch contract with a Great Old One.
* NotSoDifferent: While she and Vex initially butted heads, they share a similar past with losing a parent and having an asshole father.
* PreMortemOneLiner: Just before Rimefang dies.
-->'''Rimefang:''' ''(mere moments before his death)'' You can't...
-->'''Zahra:''' ''(with arcane power flowing through her)'' Yes, I fucking can.
* PrecisionFStrike: Not quite to the extent of say Vax'ildan or Grog. But when she tosses it out, it cuts deep.
* RedOniBlueOni: The Blue to Lyra's Red.
* TheRival: Seems to be forming one with Vex'ahlia. However, their fireside talk about their backgrounds bridges the gap between them, and they even share a hug after bringing down the dragon.
* SmugSnake: Zahra is exceptionally arrogant, and tries to establish dominance when first meeting the first group. However, she warms up to them soon enough, and when being credited with the kill on Rimefang, she insists it was a "group effort."
* TheStoic: She seems to share Percy's affinity of being serious, and less of a caricature, than other members are.
* WhiteSheep: It's implied through her cousin, Lillith Daturai, that they might be the only nice members of the entire family. And even Zahra was questionable at the beginning of the trials.

-->'''Race:''' Dwarf
-->'''Class:''' Fighter (Battle Master)

A dwarven member of the Slayer's take that is almost offended that he had to "babysit" the second group of Vox Machina, and isn't afraid of anything. Blessed (or cursed, depending) with the gift of being unlucky, it is possible that Thorbir is more about fighting than doing... pretty much anything else. Despite this, there does seem to be a softer side to him, that he doesn't allow anyone to see.
----
* ActionDad: Yes, Grumpy Mr. Thorbir is a father.
* AnAxeToGrind: His primary weapon. Also his philosophy is that "there's no problem in this world that hasn't been solved with an axe"... [[spoiler:except those who are immune to non-magical weapons. Such as his.]]
* BadAssBeard: Doubly so, since first, Wil Wheaton plays him (giving him one in real life too), and second, he is a dwarf.
* BornUnlucky: But it's not really his fault. Just look at who plays him.
* TheChewToy: As a result of absurdly bad rolling.
* TheComicallySerious: His direct and serious approach to problems contrasts magnificently with the results of his dice rolls.
* CosmicPlaything: This is a character that depends on not succumbing to the Wheaton Dice Curse.
* TheDeterminator: Is very impatient, and does not like to get off-track. But it doesn't always end well...
* TheLeader: Appointed Leader of Group Two of the Trial of the Slayer's Take.
* {{Jerkass}}: Introduced to Vox Machina as one of these. Upgraded to JerkWithAHeartOfGold, when he bought a mask for someone later revealed to be his young daughter. He also readily admits that the team is worthy after they complete their quest and leaves on good terms with Vax.
* NervesOfSteel: He fears no opponent, and never backs down from a fight.
* PapaWolf: [[spoiler: Don't threaten his daughter. Don't even think about it.]]
* TheStrategist: Has the ability Combat Superiority, which grants him additional tactics such as baiting an enemy's attention to him, directing allies to attack, and reacting to an enemy's attack.
* TechnicolorEyes: One black eye and one blue eye.
* TheStoic: More often than not. Still grumpy.
* ThrowTheDogABone: Pretty much any time he gets a good roll (or something that at least beats an NPC's roll), but particularly the Natural 20 on Insight right before the battle with Hotis.
* TooDumbToLive: But it really isn't his fault. He just has incurred the wrath of the RandomNumberGod.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Acid in this case. [[ActorAllusion Why]] [[WebVideo/AcquisitionsIncorporated indeed]]...

[[quoteright:300:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kashaw_avatar.jpg]]
-->'''Race:''' Human
-->'''Class:''' Cleric (War Domain)

A human cleric who doesn't exactly fall into the ideal of "kind, pious holy man." Tasked with joining the second group of Slayer's Take hopefuls to settle some kind of debt, Kashaw (or Brother Kash if you prefer) is utterly baffled at the antics his team gets into. While he can be reticent, grumpy, and sarcastic, this hides a surprisingly tragic past and, deep down, a good man.
----
* TheAloner: Implied by how he introduced himself to be this type.
* BigDamnKiss: Oh yeah. He gave one to Keyleth, and it was glorious. Made her speechless.
* BladeOnAStick: Wields a spear in combat. He also uses a shield.
* {{Catchphrase}}: His usual reaction to Keyleth's antics: "Is she always like this?"
* CombatMedic: A given, considering he's a cleric. Although he didn't really use his healing magic until after the [[spoiler:acid pit]] in episode 21.
* CrisisOfFaith: Suggested with his actions thus far. He hides his holy symbol (of an unknown god) rather than wear it openly, and he's described as "reluctantly" pulling it out to cast a spell. He finally goes into detail in episode 21. [[spoiler: He is the only remaining "worshipper" of a deity named Vesh, to whom he was ceremonially married shortly after birth. * DarkAndTroubledPast: Just wow.
* DeadpanSnarker: Especially with his social interactions with Keyleth.
* ForgotAboutHisPowers: Doesn't remember his Turn Undead ability until it's nearly too late. Justified, as this was Will Friedle's first time playing D&D, ever.
* GoodIsNotNice: Kashaw fits this trope nicely.
* GoodScarsEvilScars: His right arm is absolutely covered in small scars. [[spoiler: This is a result of his "marriage" to Vesh; he made the first fifty cuts, she performed the rest.]]
* ISeeDeadPeople: Where the second group of the Slayer's Take saw an inanimate corpse, Kashaw saw it move and talk via his spell.
* ItSucksToBeTheChosenOne: It really, really does [[spoiler:when the purpose you're chosen for is serving as the metaphysical counterweight to a vicious, homicidal deity. His marriage to Vesh was to ensure there would be a channel of positive energy to counter her dark and chaotic nature]].
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He might be snappish and irritated by Keyleth's optimism, but as often he complains about the team's antics he's perfectly willing to give them magical support when they need him. By the end of his time with group, he's thawed to downright civil.
* MarriageToAGod: His relationship with his deity, Vesh. [[spoiler: It wasn't a pleasant ceremony.]]
* OnlySaneMan: While group two is somewhat more level-headed than group one was in general (group one containing [[BloodKnight Grog]], [[StuffBlowingUp Percy]], and [[GeniusDitz Lyra]]), Kashaw seems to have his head screwed on straighter than the rest.
* RidingIntoTheSunset: After [[spoiler: giving Keyleth a BigDamnKiss (her FirstKiss, by the way)]] it's assumed this was what he did.
* RunningGag: Kashaw cannot seem to say Tiberius' last name for the life of him (except when they parted ways). Whether this is by accident or on purpose, it's hard to say.
* SlapSlapKiss: Eventually falls into this with Keyleth, alternating between snarking at her and flirting with her. [[spoiler: The kiss part becomes literal when he gives her one right on the lips before they part ways.]]
* TalkingToTheDead: Kashaw has spells that allowed him to speak to the spirits of the dead, which comes in handy at one point during the bounty hunt.
* TechnicolorEyes: One yellow eye and one blue eye. [[spoiler:He was born with two yellow eyes. The mismatched one was gained from the god he married.]]
* {{Tsundere}}: Kashaw definitely has both hot-headed and cool-and-collected sides, and can switch to whichever is more appropriate to the situation.
* TurnUndead: You better believe he has this ability, as a Cleric, but even more when these Ethereal Undead were really wrecking the second group's shit.
