* InsaneTrollLogic: [[spoiler: He's somehow convinced that Ikki's trickier way of fighting is rubbing off on Stella and making her "weaker," even though she didn't resort to any clever tricks during her first fight with Ouma and just used her strongest attack from the start. The only thing he's right about is that Stella isn't used to fighting opponents in the same SuperWeight class, but by that logic, he would also have to blame all blazers below Rank A that she ever met.]] [[FridgeBrilliance Then again, he probably does. He did try to kill Shizuku, after all.]]

* DentedIron: [[spoiler:Despite being a strong Blazer, Ouma's body has accumulated plenty of scars during his five-year disappearance and his use of the Tenryuu Armor to strengthen it along with his own harsh training methods are shortening his life span]].
* TheDeterminator: He rivals and even surpasses his younger brother in this. The fact that Ouma was able to achieve his long-sought [[spoiler:[[TookALevelInBadass metamorphosis]] after enduring ''years'' of being bound in his Tenryuu Armor]], but continues to stand against [[spoiler:Stella's Dragon Spirit despite already being half-dead from having the inside of his body ''cook from the inside'', and ''already'' knowing the power difference between their magic capacity.]] At the end of their fight, [[spoiler:Ouma ultimately lost the battle and fell unconscious but his body remains to stand up.]]

** To his younger brother Ikki. [[spoiler: Both were born in a clan of warriors, have similar physical appearances, and later left the household to pursue their own goals. Ikki was ostracized and ignored by their family due to being born with a low magic capacity, but continues on to prove his worth while keeping his ties with them; Ouma however, was loved and acknowledged due to his higher magic capacity, but soon cut ties with their family to seek more power. Ikki's swordsmanship revolves around being finesse, while Ouma focuses more on brute force. [[ShadowArchetype All in all, Ouma is potentially what Ikki could have become if the latter was born with higher magical power and raised with the Kurogane Clan's ideology.]]]]

** He is also one to Lunaeyes Vermillion. [[spoiler: They're both older siblings to the respective main protagonists, bears a great deal of physical resemblance to them, and are the first-born from renown families with Lunaeyes as the first princess of the Vermillion Empire, and Ouma as the first son from the Kurogane Clan (although he cut ties with them in his pursuit for power). While Lunaeyes cares deeply for her sister's well-being, Ouma could care less about his siblings and would kill either of them if he feels they're a hindrance. They are also diametric opposites to each other in powersets, with Ouma being an A-rank Blazer and Lunaeyes being a [[UnSorcerer normal human]].]]

* GoneHorriblyRight: He agrees with the Kurogane clan's belief that Blazer rank, magic capacity, and raw power, in general, are all that matters. However, he has more talent than the clan leaders and he knows it, causing him to become disloyal to his lessers. At best, they can obtain his help if doing so serves his interests.

* JerkassHasAPoint: Despite Ouma's unsavory and darwinist attitude, some of the things he pointed out to Ikki in their second confrontation does hold weight.
** [[spoiler:One of his voiced reasons of disapproval for his brother's relationship and rivalry with Stella is that the large gap between their magic capacity and fighting styles are preventing her from reaching her full potential, and she must fight against Blazers in similar or greater weight class. As seen in Stella's one-to-four match against Hiraga, Rinna, and Yui, and eventually Ouma himself, he has a point.]]
** [[spoiler:While telling Ikki that he's nothing more than a "con-artist" uses mere trickery to win is both biased and rather myopic, there's some truth to it. Ikki is a capable Blazer in his own right, but due to his very low magic capacity, he had to compensate by out-thinking his opponents, stealing and using sword techniques that aren't his own, and relying on his Noble Art for an OneHitKill. Considering how utterly powerful or broken other Blazers can be with their own Noble Arts and fighting skills, along with Ittou Shura/Rasetsu not being very reliable through certain conditions, then Ikki is out of his depths.]]
* LightningBruiser: Ouma is strong and fast enough to completely overwhelm most of the named characters in the story, and tough to the point of enduring against powerful attacks from high-ranking Blazers like Tohka's [[ShockAndAwe Raikiri]] and Nene's [[GravityMaster Jibakujin]].
* PureIsNotGood: In his own words, Ouma threw away every familial tie he had and all recognition he accumulated as an A-Rank Blazer; with the only thing left is his sword and the oaths he made to it.
* MadeOfIron: Justified. [[spoiler:Due to training his body by compressing it with Tenryuu Armor, Ouma's body became ten times denser than an ordinary human. This allows him to ''tank several Raikiris'' from Tohka (which are supposed to OneHitKill most Blazers) and only gain a slight cut on his body when the latter attacks him with ''Takemikazuchi'' (Tohka's strongest Noble Art before Raikiri, which is comparable to that of a railgun).]]

* NobleBigot: [[spoiler:In his own way, he can quite reasonable and polite, but he does have a very low opinion on any low-ranking Blazer like his younger brother Ikki; especially calling the latter derogatory terms like "mongrel" (meaning mixed or half-breed) when Ouma's patience is tested in their first fight.]]

* PetTheDog: Surprisingly, he allows Ikki to hide in his room from Sara and Stella, even though he has nothing to gain from it like the example listed in PragmaticVillainy. He takes the time to explain his motivations to Ikki and (subtly) warn him about [[spoiler:Sara]], despite viewing the latter as far below him due to their vastly different ranks, to the point of trying to kill him the day before.

* StrongFamilyResemblance: Despite their differing views, he and Ikki both resemble each other to a great degree in physical appearances, right down to the point of having the same GrinOfAudacity in their respective battles against Stella.

* ThatManIsDead: He claims to have completely thrown away his family name, as well as all familial relations. [[spoiler: To prove it, he tries to cut down his younger sister, Shizuku, only being stopped by Toka. While he did join Akatsuki on his father's orders, he has his own reasons for doing so and couldn't care less about his family's political power.]]

* BoobsOfSteel: Averted. She can make Stella feel ACupAngst, but she's a SquishyWizard.

* CorruptedCharacterCopy: Whether it's intentional or not, Ouma serves as this for Itachi Uchiha from ''Manga/{{Naruto}}''. Both of them are introduced as stoic and mysterious antagonists working with a terrorist group called, "Akatsuki", who seek power for their own sake, are {{Aloof Older Brother}}s with a CainAndAbel-like relationship, and have an interest in a "powerful character" (Naruto for Itachi and Stella for Ouma). Even Ouma's X-shaped facial scar invokes a similarity to Itachi's tear troughs. However, unlike Itachi, who was only putting up a JerkassFacade; in actuality, [[spoiler:he's an ActualPacifist who truly loves his younger brother, Sasuke, and protects him with his life, has an UndyingLoyalty to both his clan and village, only joins a terrorist organization as TheMole]], and secretly dying from an incurable illness]], Ouma is a [[spoiler:genuine BloodKnight ChallengeSeeker, cares very little for his younger siblings and would even kill them if he feels that they were to get in his way, is loyal to only his own self-interests and oaths, joins a terrorist organization mostly for the same self-interest, and secretly has lingering mental trauma from a CurbStompBattle in the past along with a shortened lifespan due to his TrainingFromHell methods]]. In a nutshell, Ouma is a WhatIf of Itachi's character if his villainous persona really ''is'' his true self.
