Appearing in the 1980s series, and the first villain that the Care Bears faced. A blue-skinned, white-haired MadScientist obsessed with literally and emotionally freezing the rest of the world over. He and his bumbling assistant Frostbite have been quietly removed from continuity, since they were Creator/{{DiC}}-original characters and, when Creator/{{Nelvana}} took the rights, they couldn't take the Professor. Voiced by Creator/LenCarlson.

* AnIcePerson: He's been described as "a kindergartener's [[Franchise/{{Batman}} Mister Freeze]]". He has blue skin and white hair, which calls to mind ice and snow, always dresses in wintery clothing, and his technology & schemes revolve around emotionally and literally freezing things.
* ComplexityAddiction: Well, manipulation addiction at least. Professor Cold Heart indulged in his ManipulativeBastard tendencies at just about any given occasion, whether or not it actually furthered his scheme. Particularly blatant in "Wedding Bells", where his plan mostly failed because he had manipulated his own ally Auntie Freeze into playing her part, when telling her the truth would probably have served just as well. When she found out he'd lied to her, she turned on him.
* DystopiaJustifiesTheMeans: While he occasionally mentions a desire for power and domination, most of his plans seem to simply involve hurting people ForTheEvulz.
* EvilIsDeathlyCold: His obvious motif as a villain; in the movies, his mere presence tends to chill the environment around him, causing ice to build up in any place he stays.
* HeelFaceBrainwashing: A very temporal one in the "Runaway". Interesting to note, that it wasn't from Care Bears Stare, but from his own machine malfunction.
* IAmSong: His first VillainSong, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0f130MJjKE "I'm Professor Cold Heart"]], which is basically bragging about who he is and what he can do.
* KickTheDog: Perhaps more so than any other villain in the franchise. His ''first'' appearance had him luring runaway children and then mutating them into pathetic, voiceless creatures he kept as his slaves (with creepy pedophilia undertones). His second appearance had him using a device to have every child in town frozen solid (and he took some time away from that plot to kidnap the Care Bear cubs, ''encase them in ice'', and then ''kick them'' while [[VillainSong singing about his plot]]). Later appearances had him keep it up - draining abducted children of energy to power a weapon, torturing a little girl by freezing her arm...
* {{Leitmotif}}: His plans going into action were often accompanied with the music from his IAmSong from the first movie.
* MadScientist: Many of his inventions looked like something straight our of Creator/DrSeuss, but that didn't make them any less dangerous.
* ManipulativeBastard: Perhaps more-so than any other villain in the franchise. Professor Cold Heart's plans always involved ''some'' degree of manipulation, whether aimed at the Care Bears or the children they were trying to protect.
* MorallyAmbiguousDoctorate: ''Professor'' Coldheart. He's certainly an EvilGenius, though what exactly he's a professor of is unknown.
* MyBrainIsBig: Cold Heart's oversized cranium clearly invokes his high intelligence.
* VileVillainSaccharineShow: Pretty much started the trend of this in the 1980s Care Bears cartoon. The very first villain the Care Bears ever face is an ice-obsessed MadScientist who seduces kids into coming to his castle, where he transforms them into his helpless slaves -- all with disturbingly pedophile-like undertones.
* VillainDecay: Professor Coldheart was legitimately creepy in his debut appearance. In the next TV special, he's given a goofy sidekick and undertakes a standard supervillain plan to freeze the world rather than the disturbingly personal villainy from before. In the TV show, he decays further, being given a sillier, high-pitched voice and treated as more of a bumbling nuisance.
* VillainSong: Has his own song in both of his movie appearance; [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0f130MJjKE "I'm Professor Cold Heart"]] in the first, and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrGPdf_VoW4 "The Freeze Machine"]] in the second.

An ice-themed villain from the DIC series, Auntie Freeze has a glare that's literally chilling. She works alongside Professor Coldheart on occasion.

* AnIcePerson: She can freeze people with icy eye beams.
* DistaffCounterpart: She's basically a female Professor Coldheart, being a female ice-themed Care Bears villain.
* VillainousCrush: She has something of a crush on Professor Coldheart, which he unwisely exploited during the episode "Wedding Bells".
* WomanScorned: In the episode "Wedding Bells", after learning that Professor Coldheart had faked his proposal as part of a scheme to smuggle a destructive gadget into Care-A-Lot, she is ''livid'', freezing the Professor with her EyeBeams and, after an abortive attempt to use the gadget herself, angrily dragging him off whilst vowing to make him regret ever hearing of her name.

The primary villain of the 1980s TV show, a malevolent sorcerer who sought to extinguish positive feelings and to defeat the Care Bears in pursuit of this goal. He has a bumbling assistant, Beastly, and is also assisted by his niece Shreeky.

* BadBoss: His standard punishment for Beastly's inevitable foul-ups is blasting him with electric bolts of magic.
* BigOlEyebrows: Has huge brows that are his most expressive, since he doesn't really ''have'' any other feature apart from his eyes.
* CardCarryingVillain: He outright states that he's evil and he exists to spread evil.
* CartoonishSupervillainy: Lots of his plots come off as this.
* DystopiaJustifiesTheMeans: He just wants to snuff out love, care, hope and all other positive emotions.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Although he'd never admit it, he loves his niece Shreeky, and actually displays something quite close to caring for her.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: He simply can't understand what's so awesome about caring and kindness.
* EvilerThanThou: No Heart's malice is so high that he frightens even other villains. Most notably, he teams up with the villain Dr. Fright in one episode, and the bad doctor is absolutely ''terrified'' of him all along. Especially when he inevitably fails No Heart and is carried off by him in the form of a tornado.
* EvilLaugh: Has a very unsettling sounding one.
* EvilSorcerer: No Heart has magic powers, and is a threatening villain out to exterminate all positive feelings.
* TheFaceless: All we ever see of his face are his huge eyebrows and his burning red eyes.
* TheHeartless: Apparently the personification of negative feelings.
* HumanoidAbomination: Is heavily implied to be this.
* KickTheDog: With Beastly; anytime they share the screen with each other, No Heart is going to verbally or physically abuse his underling.
* LargeHam: "I am hate! I... am EVIL! I... am NO HEART!!"
* MadeOfEvil: Apparently. That damn CareBearStare gets him every time.
* PetTheDog: He seems to have some legitimate fatherly affection for his niece, Shreeky, going so far as letting her live with him (despite the fact that her constant screaming screws up his powers) and even praising her on occasion.
** He also kind of does this with Beastly in "The Big Star Round-up." At the beginning of the episode, he reveals he's got a demon that he plans to sic on the Care Bears, and tells Beastly point-blank it'll be replacing him once it does so. Beastly spends the episode trying to one-up the demon and destroy the Care Bears first ([[FailureIsTheOnlyOption it goes about as well as you'd expect it to]]), finally culminating in him accidentally [=KOing=] the thing. He returns home and begins to pack his things, expecting to be kicked out. Instead No Heart tells him to get rid of ''the demon'', saying, "If anyone fails me, it's going to be you!"
* RedEyesTakeWarning: He's a terrifying villain with red eyes.
* SorcerousOverlord: A sorcerer who is an overlord to Beastly and Shreeky.
* TantrumThrowing: He throws things around whenever he's mad.
* VileVillainSaccharineShow: He picked up Professor Cold Heart's schtick as a surprisingly scary bad guy for such a kiddy setting. Even InUniverse, he absolutely terrifies everyone; even other villains, like the disturbingly vampire-like Doctor Fright, are ready to mess their pants at his presence.
* VoluntaryShapeshifter: The magical crystal he wears around his neck allows him to assume almost any form he desires; mostly he takes on the form of animals, but he has become a tornado at least once.
** InvoluntaryShapeshifter: When Shreeky's shrieking, he loses control and morphs at random.
* WeaksauceWeakness: ThePowerOfFriendship and ThePowerOfLove do NOT mix well with this guy. Also, he seems to have a slight pathological fear of hugs (as exemplified by his hauling ass when Beastly attempted to give him one).
* WhatIsThisThingYouCallLove: Actually "What Is This Thing You Call Caring". He knows all too well what it is, he just hates it and everything about it.
* WouldHurtAChild: In "Bravest of the Brave," he comes ''this'' close to frying the young boy who's just saved the Bears and Cousins from the episode's death-trap...only [[JustInTime their timely arrival]] [[BigDamnHeroes puts a halt on that]].

A bumbling bestial creature who serves as the flunky to No Heart. He was revamped and reappeared on his own in ''WesternAnimation/CareBearsWelcomeToCareALot'' and ''WesternAnimation/CareBearsAndCousins''. For that version, see [[Characters/CareBearsWelcomeToCareALot here]].

* AffablyEvil: He's not so much a bad guy as just loyal to (and afraid of) his EvilSorcerer boss. He's pretty sympathetic.
* AntiVillain
* BadIsGoodAndGoodIsBad: He has to constantly remind himself of this as a {{catchphrase}}.
* BatOutOfHell: Subverted with the 1980s incarnation. While he is an evil minion and bears a resemblance to a wingless bat creature, he's way too bumbling to be effective.
* BreakoutVillain: Chosen to be the villain for ''Welcome to Care-a-Lot'' due to his harmlessness and that unlike the other villains, he doesn't scare the target demographic (read: toddlers).
* ButtMonkey: Beastly ''never'' gets a break.
* CartoonCreature: It's unknown what animal he's supposed to be.
* DickDastardlyStopsToCheat: The entirety of "The Great Race" episode.
* ExpressiveEars: At least a little bit.
* {{Expy}}: In TheMovie, WesternAnimation/TheCareBearsAdventureInWonderland, Dim and Dum, play the same role as Beastly (Sidekick to the BigBad), look similar to him and have the same actor providing their voices.
** The same goes for the Rat King in the Nutcracker special.
* GigglingVillain: He's constantly sniggering to himself when things seem to be going his way.
* HarmlessVillain: Borderlines with PunchClockVillain. Beastly is a bumbling idiot who really only wants to do bad things because No Heart will painfully punish him if he doesn't.

* MinionWithAnFInEvil: Aside from not really being that bad a guy himself, he never manages to do badness right.

* VillainousFriendship: Type III, with No Heart, arguably. Beastly's been known to try to cheer his boss up after particularly nasty defeats and even spent a whole episode ''worrying about what to get him for his birthday,'' whereas No Heart doesn't seem to give a damn about him one way or another.
** Possibly has a Type I with Shreeky, albeit of the VitriolicBestBuds variety.
* UnevilLaugh: His "evil laugh" is a low-pitched tittering snigger.

A young witch who is No Heart's niece, introduced later in the 1980s series. Often has to work with Beastly, but considers herself more important than him.

* AmbiguouslyHuman: She looks human...ish. But she's No Heart's niece, so, really, who can say what she is?
* BigOlEyebrows: She has some sizeable purple EvilEyebrows just like her uncle. It's clearly a family trait.
* DaddysLittleVillain: More like "Uncle's Little Villain". She greatly looks up to No Heart and wants to be just like him. Meanwhile, she's the only individual he shows any signs of having something remotely approaching positive feelings for.
* EnfantTerrible: She's a kid, and also one of the villains.
* EvilLaugh: Seems to have inherited this from No Heart.
* MakeMeWannaShout: Her whole shtick.
* RuleOfTwo
* SkunkStripe: She has a teal streak in her hair.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Her hair is purple.

An unnamed evil spirit who appears in [[WesternAnimation/TheCareBearsMovie the first movie]]. She "befriends" a young, lonely magician's assistant named Nicholas, turning him into her pawn so she can rid the entire world of caring.

* FalseFriend: She pretends to befriend Nicholas, but it's an act to aid her schemes.
* ManipulativeBitch: She persuaded Nicholas quite easily with her plans.
* SealedEvilInACan: She can't affect the world directly as she's locked in a book.
* VileVillainSaccharineShow: She makes Nicholas go completely crazy and power-mad, and comes within two people in the ''entire world'' of destroying Care-A-Lot forever.

The assistant to the stage magician Mr. Fetuccini. Nicholas never had a friend in his life, which makes him easy prey for the Spirit when she convinces him to wreak revenge on the town that spurned him--and eventually, the entire world.

* HeelFaceTurn: Ultimately, Kim and Jason's kindness gets through to him, and he helps defeat the Spirit.
* NarratorAllAlong: He turns out to be Mr. Cherrywood, the narrator of the story.
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity: By the end of the movie he's gone completely mad and attacks Kim, Jason, and the others with intent to harm or kill.

An evil spirit who is the chief antagonist of [[WesternAnimation/CareBearsMovieIIANewGeneration the second 1980s movie]], he seeks to capture and destroy the Care Bears and Care Bear Cousins so that he can then poison the rest of the world with his evil influence. Taking a human girl named Christy under his wing, he eventually forges a connection with her that surprises him. [[spoiler: To the point of turning to the Care Bears Family to save her after he accidentally endangers her, and willingly becoming a human boy to stay with her.]]

An arrogant, ambitious young girl who has the misfortune of being stuck at a summer camp she hates. She eagerly accepts Dark Heart's offer to become his helper in exchange for him using his magic to give her whatever she wishes for.

* AntiVillain: She's a girl who was treated like dirt for not being good at sports by the other kids and forced to do all the chores for them. When Dark Heart offered her to grant her wish to become better in exchange of her helping him to do something[[note]]Note that at the time of her DealWithTheDevil, she didn't know exactly what favor she would have to do for him.[[/note]], she agreed. She later agrees to help his kidnapping of the Care Bears because she fears he would take back what he gave to her (and probably because she fears his magical powers in general; she did see him change form and throw a kid in a trash can with his powers). [[spoiler:During the climax, she does the right thing and helps the Care Bears though.]]
* BadassNormal: After Dark Heart empowers her, she's can beat any other camper at sports and other camp-related activities. It's unclear just how powerful and skilled he made her.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindows: Has brown hair and eyes. She looks a lot like Chris from ''WesternAnimation/TheBraveLittleToaster''.
* DealWithTheDevil: How she and Dark Heart become linked; she promises her allegiance, he grants her wishes.
* TheDragon: For Dark Heart, as she's his accomplice in his EvilPlan.
* DrivenByEnvy: Her actions are mainly motivated by jealousy for anyone with a better life than her.
* FreudianExcuse: She was treated like dirt by the other kids of the camp and forced to do the chores for them because she wasn't good at sports, which fueled her resentment. When Dark Heart offers her to grant her wish of being the best, she jumps at the opportunity.

She's afraid to become a "nobody" and a loser again if Dark Heart removes the magic that turned her into the "camp champ".

Although it's ultimately deconstructed, as it also shows [[TookALevelInJerkass that she became just as bad as he was]].
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: Receives this kind of speech from her friends John and Dawn. It manages to convince her that doing the right thing is more important than being the "camp champ".

[[folder:The Wizard]]

The main antagonist of [[WesternAnimation/TheCareBearsAdventureInWonderland the third 1980s movie]]. A member of the court of the Queen of Heart, he longs to overthrow the Queen and rule Wonderland himself. To do that, he has the Princess of Heart kidnapped before she's supposed to inherit the throne and intends to use the SuccessionCrisis to take the crown.

He returns home and begins to pack his things, expecting to be kicked out. Instead No Heart tells him to get rid of ''the demon'', saying, "If anyone fails me, it's going to be you!"

At the beginning of the episode, he reveals he's got a demon that he plans to sic on the Care Bears, and tells Beastly point-blank it'll be replacing him once it does so. The matriarch of the Care Bears, a wise old lady who usually takes care of Hugs and Tugs. She's the purple-grey bear with the rose symbol. In ''Welcome to Care-a-Lot'', she resurfaces to help Wonderheart draw out her belly badge power and it's revealed that she once did the same for Tenderheart.

Perfect (Male, star medal symbol) and Polite (Female, rose symbol) are twins who were separated from the others as babies during an attack by Noheart. Discovered by coincidence in an isolated valley, they rejoined their brethren...but this turned out to be a terrible idea.
