* AdultFear: What happens to his son, Chrono, in the 2nd half of the Shinemon arc is terrifying for any parent. To make it short, Chrono loses his mother when he's very young, nearly gets crushed by a colapsing building, [[spoiler:is taken hostage and nearly gets trapped into another world if it wasn't for Rive's rescue who gets trapped instead, which leaves his son orphaned.]] On top of that he is only a toddler when this all happened.

* IllGirl: Rive stated that she had a frail constitution.

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: He has dark green hair.

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: He has grey hair.

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Mrs. Tokura has lilac hair like her daughter while her husband has purple hair in this continuity instead of the dark green hair he had in the original one.

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: She has pink hair.

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Kanzaki's hair is lavender.

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Ryuzu has dark green hair.

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Her hair is purple.

* ParentalAbandonment: Her parents died before the start of the series in the same accident which led her to be hospitalized.

* ContrastingSequelProtagonist: Compared than Aichi who was quiet, shy, had no friends and just started Vanguard, Shinemon is loud, bold, doesn't even think before his actions, already has friends and experience in Vanguard. [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking Also compared to Aichi, Shinemon is currently failing class as a result from how he holes himself up at Card Capital while Aichi is smart enough to attend Miyaji]]. For even further contrast his ace card, Valkerion, isn't something that has emotional value to him, but just a unit he finds cool.

* ChickMagnet: Mikuru and Nanami both appear to have a crush on him and there's plenty of ShipTease moments between him and Esukaas well. Post-timeskip, he's shown to have become quite popular thanks to his participation in the Asia Circuit.

* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: She gives a simple one to Shinemon on why he isn't suited as a manager. [[spoiler:He hasn't even reopened the shop yet.]]
** She gives a second, longer, one during her fight against Shinemon in Remind 9 which furthers points out the latter's flaws and lack of experience as a manager.

* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: She's afraid of cats which Shinemon uses against her.

* CutenessProximity: She has this reaction toward cats. Unfortunately for her, Esuka does not like them so Nanami tries to keep that fact hidden from her. Turns out Esuka knew already and is fine with it.

* {{Foil}}: To Shinemon. Both idolize an older fighter, Rive for Shinemon and Esuka for Nanami, whom they never managed to defeat. However, Nanami refuses to fight against Esuka because she knows she can't win against her yet whereas Shinemon keeps challenging Rive with the goal of defeating him one day. Incidentally, both Nanami and Shinemon use Force clans while their respective mentor figures both use Accel decks.

* BigEater: Tonori has quite the appetite, being hungry despite Nanami mentioning they had already eaten not too long ago.
* OneTrackMindedHunger: He gets more angry during a fight, because he's hungry and wants to end it as soon as possible so that he can eat.

* SparedByTheAdaptation: In ''G'', Ryuzu's original self ''died'' due to using up his own life force summoning forth the Zodiac Time Beasts, causing him to prematurely age and leading to him dying in front of Chrono and Ibuki before his body was immolated, living on afterwards through a clone with his memories before it was [[RaiseThemRightThisTime regressed into an infant]]. Here, Ryuzu remains an adult and doesn't prematurely age thanks to not using his life force in his experiments.
