stern. When Andrew ''finally'' gave up on Krystal after her ungodly public drive, he's the first one to reassure him that the team aren't inept teachers, citing that she's just one of many people out in the world who are beyond help simply because of their refusal to learn.
* TheLeader [=/=] TheLancer: The former as he has been the longest expert on the show, and the latter as he usual discusses matters with Andrew the most. During deliberations, he has the most influence of the entire panel and has managed to prevent several graduations that would have otherwise been unanimous based on his concerns over someone's performance.

* EpicFail: His inability to complete the final drive and then mouthing off at the experts afterward when they suggested that he get psychological help for his nerves resulted in the first-ever instance of the experts deciding that one driver was so clearly the worst that there was no need for a discussion over the decision (despite Dale being bad in general). Note that even with Angelina the previous year, Cam had disagreed (at least initially) and thought that Mike was worse, and while the entire panel in Season 3 had agreed that Jason was the actual worst, there was still some discussion as to whether Shelby should have gotten the title, seeing how Jason had already made it clear he was considering quitting driving.

* AnOfferYouCantRefuse: Episode 3 was a sure thing he would graduate based on his performance and being the most competent driver of the seven remaining drivers. However the experts were still weary of his street racing habits so Andrew gave him two choices: either take the race car helmet and graduate (signifying he will speed on legal raceways and not on the roads) or take the scissors and cut up his licence (signifying he refuses to stop street racing and will effectively be expelled).
