* IgnorantOfTheirOwnIgnorance: It turns out the Orthodoxy has a history not as wonderful as what Agnès has spent her whole life believing. She also spends much of the game blindly acting and obeying without question, trusting the courses chosen for her to be correct. This gets [[LampshadeHanging lampshadded]] by [=DeRosso=] along with the flaws of the other party members.

* TheTeam:
** TheLeader and TheHeart: Agnès works as a combination of both. She's the one who has the final say in group decisions (Tiz is just the more talkative one) and she's the heart because, in the end, she's the one who is keeping them all glued together.
** TheLancer, TheHeart, and TheFace: Tiz works as all three. He's the one most likely to take charge when Agnès can't, his emotions and his love for his friends makes him the heart, and he's the face in that, when the chips are down and talking is needed, he's the one who will do the talking.
** TheSmartGuy: Surprisingly, despite his nature, Ringabel fits the criteria needed. He's the one piloting your ship, and multiple situations are resolved because of his quick thinking. For example, when [[spoiler:Konoe pretends to be a dead maid in the Goodman household]], he's the only one who finds that there is [[spoiler:something off about the corpse]]. Also, he's the entire reason [[spoiler:Edea was able to avoid being experimented on by [=DeRosa=], as he was able to find the secret passage based on where he last saw [=DeRosa=]]].
** TheBigGuy: Edea fits this as, she is usually the first to try brute forcing something. Thankfully for her, brute force usually works. She's also the only one among them to have been formally trained in combat.

* DreadfulMusician: She isn't the most talented singer to say the least.

* BagOfSpilling: In ''Second'', this is played straight for Tiz and Edea, but averted for Agnès, who still has Black Magic[[spoiler:, and Ringabel, who still has Dark Arts]].

*** Lastly, upon reuniting with (the original) Alternis in the Caldisla castle, he is utterly confused when asked about the missing bow, his arm wound and the existence of Yoko...although at this point you can probably figure out what's going on...

* TheStinger: Implied to be the main focus in the third game in the finale.

** ImageSong: "Baby Bird (Vocalized Version)", performed by Miwa Kominato of Linked Horizon.

* [[LikeFatherLikeSon Like Father, Like Daughter]]: More than once, it's commented that Edea's staunch beliefs in what she believes to be right against all odds is actually very similar to her father, Braev. It's specifically because their goals are in opposition that they end up fighting.

* CharacterCatchphrase: Edea tends to growl "Mrgrgr" when angry.

* {{Catchphrase}}: "Unacceptable!"

* CatchPhrase: Edea tends to growl "Mrgrgr" when angry.

* TheGadfly: Has her moments. Like when the party is discussing Agnès' appearance; she invites Tiz to share his opinion, knowing he has a crush on Agnès. Then she laughs when he starts blushing. "That's adorable!" is practically her CatchPhrase.

* {{Flanderization}}: Though ''Bravely Default'' had portrayed Edea as a BigEater as well, the trait was made much more prominent in this game to the point where she pushes toward ObsessedWithFood territory. A chunk of the Party Chats in ''Second'' involve Edea in some way obsessing over food or overeating. That isn't to say the first game didn't have her do that in its Party Chats at some points, but ''Second'' placed more emphasis on it. It's especially jarring whenever there's a serious scene immediately afterward where Edea would go back to acting OlderAndWiser. Edea also says her trademark "Mrgrgr" CatchPhrase when angry in ''Second'' much more often than she did in ''Default,'' which says a lot.

* CatchPhrase: Her favorite phrase in the Japanese version is "[[GratuitousEnglish Good gravy]]". In the English version, her favorite phrase is "Ah la vache", French for "holy cow".

* CatchPhrase: "[[GratuitousEnglish Good luck!]]" or its counterpart "[[GratuitousFrench Bonne chance!]]", depending on Japanese or English voicing.

* BigGood: As the pope of the Crystal Orthodoxy, she has this role by [[JustForPun default]].

* ThreeAmigos: He, Nikolai, and Janne are this. [[spoiler:Until Nikolai and Janne reveal their allegiance to the Glanz Empire.]]

* AnythingThatMoves: Ringabel will always take the opportunity to hit on any woman he meets, this includes Edea, Agnès, Airy, the Proprietress, female enemies and countless other girls off screen. His part of the intro movie is charming a quartette of girls.

* TheHero: Agnès is the driving force of the game. The morally righteous, but sometimes misguided heroine who relies on her allies to accomplish what she cannot alone.

* TheHero: Undeniably the driving force of the second game. The young and naïve, but talented leader of the Three Cavaliers with a high sense of justice and who relies on his allies to accomplish what he couldn't do alone.

* CreepyGood: Despite how foreboding she looks on the cover of ''Bravely Second'', she's actually a sweet dork and is with the good guys.

* GratuitousEnglish: In the Japanese version. This is extremely noticeable if you're playing in English with Japanese voice acting.

* GratuitousFrench: In the English version.

* PeekABangs: After his time in captivity. He has them to such a ridiculous degree that his Ranger mask has its left eye closed to maintain a similar aesthetic. Justified, being in a coma doesn't exactly give you time to get a haircut.
