!Contains spoilers

!Tropes Associated with the Vandenreich:
* AllYourPowersCombined: The Vandenreich is so far displaying quite an eclectic range of powers from different sources, and there are implications that they can use even more.
* ANaziByAnyOtherName: The Vandenreich's entire set-up seems to be inspired by Nazi Germany themes, not only regarding uniforms but also certain behavioral attitudes, including one that borders on ethnic cleansing (one that fans nicknamed a [[JustForPun Hollow]]caust). Their logo is also vaguely reminiscent of the Nazi swastika and their very name is reminiscent of the Third Reich (even though the term, like the swastika, [[OlderThanTheyThink predates the Nazi era]]).
* BadassCrew: Six members (led by Luders) waltzed right into Soul Society, declared war on Yamamoto, and waltzed right out of Soul Society without tripping any alarms until after the fact. They left behind 116 dead shinigami, [[spoiler:one of whom was Yamamoto's Bankai-wielding lieutenant]], who might have been killed by only ''one member'' of said crew according to shinigami speculation.
** When they finally do invade the Soul Society, they cause well over 2,245 casualties within minutes [[spoiler: including Kira and Byakuya]]. The 12th division couldn't keep up with the speed at which the casualties were piling up to be able to tell how many have actually died.
* BadassCape: The Stern Ritter wear white ones, while the Emperor wears a black one.
* BadassLongcoat: The standard uniform.
* CustomUniform: Much like the Arrancar, their uniforms do have recurring motifs (black-and-white colours, Quincy star-shaped decorations, capes). However, their uniforms are accessorised to customise them in a personal way. Compare [[CommissarCap Bambi]][[ZettaiRyouiki etta]]'s and [[WalkingShirtlessScene NaNaNa]]'s outfits to Unknown Blond Member's more ordinary-looking uniform.
* CurbStompBattle: To say these guys are sacking Soul Society's ass utterly, is [[{{Understatement}} possibly the most mellow variation of an understatement conceivable.]]
* DangerouslyGenreSavvy CombatPragmatist: Remember how the Arrancars made a habit out of battling the Shinigami in lengthy, IAmNotLeftHanded-style fights? Yeah, these guys will just flat-out ''murder'' you. They don't [[SmokeShield wait until the smoke is cleared]]; they use it as a cover to shoot you through the gut. While your friends [[TalkingIsAFreeAction waste time]] activating their weapons, the Stern Ritter slam their heads to the ground before even getting a shot at retaliating.
** [[spoiler: They created a tool specifically designed to steal Bankai, which are captains' strongest weapons; they will use those tools the instant they see bankai, and thanks to their reishi-subjugation ability, they are more than happy to [[HoistByHisOwnPetard unleash the stolen bankai on their former owners]].]]
** Lampshaded in Chapter 502 by As Nodt when he berates [[spoiler: the Masked Wrestler Stern Ritter for sending Renji flying before he could use his Bankai, which would have been one of the few opportunities they could steal one.]]
* DarkerAndEdgier: While both the Arrancars and the Fullbringers were unpleasant, only a few were ever truly monstrous (or competent, for that matter). On the other hand, the Vandenreich are filled to the brim with AxCrazy [[TheSociopath psychos]] with [[FantasticRacism Nazi-esque levels of intolerance]], who have so driven the Soul Society into a corner with mass slaughter and [[CombatPragmatist combat pragmatism]], often forgoing lengthy fights (even introductions) in favor of actually winning. The frightening thing about them is that their powers have not been fully revealed yet, and [[FridgeHorror how strong the Vandenreich are as individuals]].
* TheEmpire: They're building themselves up as one, if their conquest of Hueco Mundo is any indication.
* EvilIsHammy: While they're still very threatening, a lot of them can be ''really'' loud and expressive when they want. Ebern was a pretty decent example (with his hamminess getting him kicked off Ichigo's bed), but Opie puts on the pork in a simply incredible manner, and their Emperor is the rare kind of ham that doubles as TheStoic.
* EqualOpportunityEvil: They offer this to Arrancars, with mixed results.
* FacelessGoons: If anyone removes their mask, they usually have a specific role to play, regardless of whether or not it's short-lived.
* GratuitousGerman: Their known divisions are the Sternritter ("star knights") and the Jagdarmee ("hunting army"), most of their names sound vaguely German-ish, their [[CallingYourAttacks attacks]] are all in mangled German and, lastly, they call themselves the Vanden[[ThoseWackyNazis reich]]...
* HeroKiller: You thought Aizen was bad? Within the first few chapters of the arc, 116 individuals get killed during a three-minute fight. One of them was [[spoiler:Chojiro Sasakibe, a guy who had ''Bankai'']].
** Taken UpToEleven once they invade the Seireitei. ''A thousand'' casualties in 7 minutes -- that's 143 wounded or killed ''every 60 seconds''. Said casualties include [[spoiler:Izuru Kira (shot through the gut), Tatetsuna Gori (head slammed to the ground), Asuka Katakura (head slammed to ground), Riku Togakushi (cut down from behind), Hidetomo Kajomaru (sliced in half), Byakuya Kuchiki (slashed apart by his own Bankai), Renji Abarai (blindsided by a double kick) and Rukia Kuchiki (knocked out off-panel)]]. To further put this in perspective, according to the databooks the Shinigami only have around 3000 soldiers to begin with. '''Damn.'''
* HiddenAgendaVillain: While we know what their leader wants (i.e. to attack the Soul Society), that's about as far as we know regarding their goals, much less their motives.
* KnightOfCerebus: From the outset of this arc, the Vandenreich has made it clear it won't hesitate to kill off established characters, without bothering to get into lengthy fights. No tactic is off-limits, to the extent that they force their enemies to [[spoiler:murder the ones they're supposed to protect]].
* LogicalWeakness: Opening and closing arteries is their way of switching from offense to defense. If their enemies are particularly fast, they won't be able to dodge or block attacks as quickly as the Shinigami tend to do. It doesn't make them any less dangerous, but they have a ''much'' better chance at winning if their opponents don't have Bankai.
* MalevolentMaskedMen: Their main introduction to the shinigami was by presenting a group of seven fully masked warriors to Yamamoto himself.
* MeaningfulName: The [[AlternateCharacterReading kanji]] used for the non-Japanese word "Vandenreich" mean "[[OutsideContextVillain Invisible]] [[TheEmpire Empire]]".
* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: Implied.
* PowerParasite: Their opening strike in the arc is to target shinigami bankai. The shinigami don't fully understand why.
** [[spoiler:The implication from Ebern's fight with Ichigo is that when a Shinigami uses a Bankai against them, they either absorb the power or the abilities]]. Ichigo was able to break out of it, for as yet unexplained reasons.
** Kirge Opie makes it clear that it's a form of PowerCopying; anything made of spiritual particles can be absorbed and the Vandenreich member can take on the form and abilities of the victim [[hottip:*:They take the spiritual particles, break them down, and then make them "subservient" to themselves]]. Ishida, a fellow Quincy, has done something similar on several occasions.
* PuttingOnTheReich: Their stormtrooper uniforms are very much Nazi-esque.
* VillainTeleportation: The Vandenreich seems to have a unique teleportation technique that not even the Shakonmaku can disrupt. Ebern claimed it was proof of the them being "chosen".
* WhamEpisode: These guys are very much prone to it. For starters, [[spoiler:they killed Chojiro Sasakibe, erased so many Hollows that Mayuri had to order the deaths of ''thousands'' of Rukongai civilians to restore the balance of souls, and decided to invade the Soul Society ''much'' quicker than anticipated. Furthermore, their boss will ''lead'' the assault on the Seireitei, they mind-controlled Jidanbo and Rin Tsubokura, and they attacked the Research and Development Institute.]] And we don't even know most of their ''names'' yet.

::'''The Emperor of the Vandenreich''':

The leader of the Vandenreich, first seen when his subordinates deliver their report from the Soul Society. So far, he's shown to be [[ForTheEvulz ruthless]], [[BadBoss intolerant]] and disturbingly brutal. This is a man ''you do not want to annoy''.
----
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: He's not to be fucked with. Aizen at least tried to be nice.
* {{Badass}}: We don't know his name, ''they didn't even refer to him as the leader until his second appearance'', so how do we know he was the boss right from the start? [[AsskickingEqualsAuthority The way he acts alone is enough proof that he is superior to everyone else]].
** And then there's the small fact that he conquered Hueco Mundo and defeated Harribel.
** And 1000 years ago, [[spoiler: ''Yamamoto'' failed to kill him]].
** He can block [[spoiler: ''Kenpachi's'']] blade with just his wrist and only smiles into his face even though he [[spoiler: just defeated three Stern Ritters and is releasing massive amounts of Reiatsu]].
** [[BadassMustache Badass Mutton Chops]]: So badass, it dwarfs the BeardOfEvil.
** BadassCape: Sports a long black cape along with his Quincy outfit.
** BadassLongHair
* BadBoss: Kills two of his subordinates just for squabbling with each other and he seems to enjoy grabbing the attention of his henchmen by ''blowing off their limbs''.
* BigBad: Definitely looks to be this.
* CombatPragmatist: He certainly doesn't adhere to the Laws and Customs of War; his first act of war? To screw the grace period for Soul Society to surrender and invade five days before he said he would.
** Technically that grace period came from Luders. [[YourHeadAsplode And we all know how that one turned out.]]
* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: When he learned that Ichigo went to Hueco Mundo, his ''first'' reaction is to order an assault on the Soul Society, (correctly) rationalizing that Kirge Opie will keep Ichigo distracted enough for an invasion to occur.
** ''Personally'' leading the assault on the Seireitei, instead of leaving it to the Stern Ritter. Cue a MassOhCrap from the Shinigami.
* DisproportionateRetribution: He wants to hear about the present, not the future. When Luders gave his two cents on what the Soul Society would do ''after'' their attack, his boss ''butchers'' him.
* TheEmperor: As revealed in chapter 490.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: One of the first things he ever does in Bleach is killing two subordinates just because.
* EvilOverlord: Already conquered Hueco Mundo, and he's worse than Aizen with regards to ruling it.
* [[BeardofEvil Mutton Chops of Evil]]
* FantasticRacism: Seems to view Arrancars as CannonFodder.
* ForTheEvulz: He admits that he has no reason to praise or critique how one of his subordinates handled their mission, but he kills him regardless.
* HairTriggerTemper: That's triggered just by ''mentioning'' fights, He whips off one of his subordinates arms just for teasing a fight with Ebern. A bit more subtle since he has DissonantSerenity to back it up.
* {{Hypocrite}}: He hates violence, yet it is perfectly fine for him to go killing off his subordinates.
* {{Jerkass}}: ''Aizen'' wasn't this unpleasant.
* KickThemWhileTheyAreDown: After destroying Luders' arm (and watching him crawl as he struggles to deal with the pain), he says that it's fine for Luders to give his report while lying on the floor. However, ''two seconds after saying that'', he loses patience and threatens to destroy Luders' legs, "since you're not going to sit down".
* MakeAnExampleOfThem: He doesn't like fights. He has two people bickering. He's told them in the past not to fight. Punishment? [[DisproportionateRetribution Lop off the arm]] of the one who started it just to ram his point home. And then kill the other one, anyway.
* MundaneUtility: He uses Reishi manipulation to create steps or his signature floating throne.
* NoNameGiven: Thus far.
* OnlySixFaces: Depending on which fans you talk to, he either looks like Zangetsu, Kenpachi, Kyouraku or a long-haired Isshin. Or all four.
* Really700YearsOld: He's at least millennium old (and possibly older), according to Mayuri.
* TheUnfettered: Again, the stoicism makes it hard to see at first, but he lops off body parts left and right on a whim, and goes back on his formal declaration of going to war in 5 days as soon as he's feeling opportunistic.
* WeHaveReserves: When asked why he keeps killing his henchmen - particularly Arrancars, he replies he can always get new ones.
* WhamLine: "We're invading the Soul Society". Ordered ''on the same day'' that he declared war on them.

::'''Blonde Stern Ritter'''

A member of the Vandenreich sporting long blonde hair who notices that Ebern's mission failed and observes that's not actually a bad thing. He seems to be the leader of the "Stern Ritter", the Vandenreich's main combat unit. After a short BadassBoast, he [[spoiler: effortlessly kills Hidetomo Kajomaru and as a result, sends the entire 13th division into a HeroicBSOD]].
----
* {{Badass}}:
** BadassBoast: "Shiver in fear, Shinigami. The Stern Ritter have come to purge you."
** BadassLongHair
* {{Bishonen}}: Oh ''god'' yes.
* BlondGuysAreEvil: If he really is blond.
* TheDragon: Since he seems to be the leader of the Stern Ritter.
* EarlyBirdCameo: He can be seen in the [[http://www.mangareader.net/bleach/480/5 cover]] for the final arc's first chapter.
* HeroKiller: Can now be called this after he murders [[spoiler:Kajomaru]].
* LeanAndMean
* LongHairedPrettyBoy
* NoNameGiven
* NobleDemon: He's reluctant to slay remaining Shinigamis of 13th Division, seeing them not quite ready to face him. Doesn't stop him from [[spoiler:slicing Kajomaru in half]], though.
* NotWorthKilling: To Kajomaru.
--> "If you're scared you can run away. You're not even worth killing to show our power."
* OhCrap: Gets this after Zaraki explains in detail just how easily he killed three Stern Ritter, then rushes head-long against the Emperor.
* OnlySixFaces: He bears a resemblance to Ukitake (for the long hair) and Ishida (with the Quincy outfit).
* WarriorTherapist[=/=]BreakThemByTalking: It was obvious Kajomaru was afraid to oppose him, so he turned that fear back on Kajomaru with a skillful analysis of Kajomaru's resolve.
* WhamLine: "It seems [[spoiler:Byakuya Kuchiki has died]]".

Stern Ritter "E". After [[BloodKnight joyfully]] [[HalfTheManHeUsedToBe bisecting and killing]] a bunch of low ranking Shinigami, she's stopped by Sajin Komamura (followed by Tetsuzaemon Iba) and engages in a fight with them.
----
* AlliterativeName: Villainous example.
* AxCrazy
* BadassAdorable: Rare villainous version. Because a girl ''this'' cute-looking can't just be on the Vandenreich side could she? [[OhCrap Oh Shit,]] [[CurbStompBattle How many shinigami did she take down at once?!]]
* CommissarCap: The sole one to wear it- a bit odd, considering the military motifs of Vandenreich characters.
* CustomUniform: Instead of a normal belt buckle like the others, she wears a heart shaped one. And she wears black [[ZettaiRyouiki thigh high stockings]] instead of regular white pants.
* DarkActionGirl: The most overt one thus far in this series.
* IShallTauntYou: "Doggie dog" Komamura isn't happy about being insulted ''yet again''.
* KickTheDog: Almost literally, in her insulting Komamura.
* OnlySixFaces: She's caused the fandom to variously compare her to Riruka, Ikumi and Tatsuki.
* ZettaiRyouiki: Probably grade A, even!

::'''As Nodt'''

Stern Ritter "F", which implies for Fear, who murders a bunch of no-name Shinigami, before meeting Renji Abarai and Byakuya Kuchiki.
----
* AmbiguousGender: Thus far, although As Nodt speaks with the masculine pronoun "boku."
* {{Badass}}: Take a nice look at the tropes bellow mentioning him fighting since they all equate to [[spoiler: him making a rag doll out of '''Byakuya''' by mentally wrecking and taking him out of the [[CurbStompBattle "fight"]].]]
* AxCrazy: It's subtle, but the merciless and brutal way he/she multiply hits [[spoiler: Byakuya with Senbonzakura Kageyoshi]] may suggest this. The first attack was likely enough to defeat [[spoiler: Byakuya]], the following ones were simply overkill.
* BlackEyesOfEvil
* CustomUniform: Wears black pants instead of the standard white ones, a mask and black nail polish (so he doesn't wear gloves, either).
* EmotionBomb: His/her arrows inject his opponents with fear, sending [[spoiler: the normally-coolheaded Byakuya]] into a frenzy.
* HannibalLecture[=/=]TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Delivers one to [[spoiler: Byakuya]].
* [[spoiler: HeroKiller: He brutalized '''Byakuya''', and may have even killed him.]]
* [[spoiler: MindRape: The EmotionBomb can make you have some... really unpleasant hallucinations. (Byakuya, i.e., sees [[NightmareFuel his sister Rukia's face melting]].) For worse, as this happens, Nodt can give you a brutal TheReasonYouSuckSpeech, thus combining ''both'' techniques.]]
* NightmareFuel: Counts as an in-universe example, because this is ''exactly'' what As Nodt's power runs on. Specifically, (s?)he can weaponise people's darkest fears as part of an EmotionBomb. It's so bad that it sends [[TheStoic Byakuya]] ''completely over the edge''.
* OnlySixFaces: Looks almost exactly like [[TheMedic Unohana]].
* SpikesOfVillainy
* TheUnSmile: The Spectacular one seen above after [[spoiler:stealing Byakuya's bankai.]]
* UnusualEyebrows: Type 5.

::'''Driscoll Berci'''

A tall, dark-skinned man with a beard. His letter "O" stands for Overkill. He easily defeats Hisagi off-screen, but before he finishes the lieutenant off, Yamamoto confronts him. He's also revealed to be the one who [[spoiler: stole Sasakibe's Bankai.]]
----
* [[BadassBeard Badass]] BeardOfEvil
* BladeOnAStick
* BloodKnight: His method of gaining strength is killing, but he seems to prefer opponents that can put up a fight. He is after all happy his opponent is Yamamoto of all people.
* TheBrute
* EarlyBirdCameo: He can be seen in the [[http://www.mangareader.net/bleach/480/5 cover]] for the final arc's first chapter.
* [[spoiler:HeroKiller: He's the one who murdered Sasakibe and the members of squad 1 in under a few minutes by himself.]]
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: Did so to [[spoiler:Sasakibe]]. Tried the same to Hisagi, but it was swatted away by Yamamoto.
* JerkAss: This guy is ''really'' unpleasant. To ram it home, he [[spoiler:brags about killing Sasakibe ''right to Yamamoto's face'']].
* OnlySixFaces: Looks almost exactly like Yammy or Kiganjo, the 10th Kenpachi.
* ScaryBlackMan

A female Stern Ritter with black and white hair. Her letter "Q" stands for "Question", but we don't know what her power's supposed to be, since Zaraki slit her throat before she got to use it.
----
* ExplainingYourPowersToTheEnemy: Kenpachi mentioned she did this at some length. [[RealityEnsues It got her killed]].
* MotiveRant: Zaraki said that she went on about how she had something against him, but it was off-panel, so we don't know the details.

----
* TheBrute
* GiantMook
* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: Zaraki casually mentions that he sliced Jerome in half when he transformed.
* MakeMeWannaShout: He can blow people away with his voice when he transforms.
* OneWingedAngel: Zaraki said that he transforms into an ape-thing to fight.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: He can do this, but whether this is his Quincy ability or something else is unrevealed and likely never will be.
* WeHardlyKnewYe
* TheWorfEffect: The biggest and likely physically-strongest of the group sent after Zaraki. So, of course, like most such characters in this manga, he's the first to go down.

* ScaryShinyGlasses

::'''Kirge Opie'''

The Commander of the "Jagdarmee" division of the Vandenreich, tasked with capturing and subjugating Arrancars. TheEmperor trusts him enough to keep Ichigo Kurosaki from returning to the Soul Society.

[[spoiler: He is ranked as [[RedBaron Kirge Opie - The Jail]]]]. [[spoiler: Which refers to his ability to create a near-unbreakable prison]].

[[spoiler: But after this revelation, he is cut down by something unknown which then proceeds to go for Urahara]].
----
* AxCrazy: Just a little bit - [[BlackComedy oddly funny]], and at the same time, [[JerkAss rather disturbing]].
--> '''Opie''': "Anyone that didn't understand what I just explained will end like this!" ''(stabs an Arrancar)'' "Like this. Like this." ''(stabs two more)''
--> '''Subordinate A''': "Is the captain really going to collect any Arrancars?"
--> '''Opie''': ''(still stabbing in the background)'' "You're gonna diiieee!!"
--> '''Subordinate B''': "[[GenreSavvy Of course he's not.]]
* {{Badass}}: He's able to go toe-to-toe with a Bankai-wielding Ichigo, even after failing to seal it. He catches a Zanpakuto bare-handed after it decapitated two of his subordinates, demolishes three lieutenant-level fraccions at the same time, and negates a ''point-blank'' Getsuga Tensho.
* BadBoss: He watched as his entire crew was demolished by three Arrancars. He could've stepped in to help them at any time, but chose to watch as they were slaughtered. To make matters worse, when one of his underlings tried to run away, he ''butchered'' the guy. His callousness was enough to ''silence'' three VitriolicBestBuds.
* BaitAndSwitchBoss: Originally, an individual on the last page of chapter 486 was implied to be the commander, yet in 487 the first thing that individual does is take orders from Opie.
* BerserkButton: Never ''ever'' imply that he might be scared or that he may lose a fight, a VillainousBreakdown will follow.
* BeyondTheImpossible: This dude survived a beatdown from ''Ayon''!
* BunnyEarsLawyer: As you can tell from AxCrazy above, the guy is pretty weird, to say the least. He's also one of the most powerful villains in this series. Go figure.
* BloodKnight: His enthusiastic praise of Apacci, Sung-Sun and Mila'Rose for demolishing his soldiers shows that he definitely encourages the attitude.
* BodyHorror: [[spoiler: After absorbing Ayon]], he's absolutely hideous.
* BossInMookClothing: Holy shit.
* CombatPragmatist: He always manages to catch his opponents off-guard just long enough for an attack, and it usually incapacitates them afterwards. This happened with Apacci (stabbed her through the neck when Ayon beat him down), Inoue (shoots a chunk of her hip out), Sado (blasts a hole in his stomach and arms) ''and'' Urahara (literally shoots him in the back).
* DeadpanSnarker: ''[[MemeticMutation "OOK! That's not how it works!"]]''
* TheDeterminator: He ''will not'' back down from an order.
* DisproportionateRetribution: His forte.
** He stabs right through an Arrancar, killing him instantly, just for ''asking'' to join the Vandenreich, without waiting his turn.
** He also [[BadBoss blows off a dude's head]] for retreating from Harribel's Fraccion.
* TheDreaded: This man is ''terrifying'' to everyone who fights him, sans Ichigo [[spoiler: and Urahara.]]
* DrillSergeantNasty: His way of recruiting Arrancar? Killing them one by one until someone decides to try to fight.
* [[spoiler: ExoticEyeDesigns]]: [[spoiler: His OneWingedAngel gives him [[{{Naruto}} Rinnegan-like]] eyes]].
* FourEyesZeroSoul
* GenreSavvy: See SecretKeeper below.
* [[spoiler: HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: At the end of chapter 500, he's cut in half by...something sent by an unknown being. Whoever this is, Urahara's freaked out.]]
* HeroKiller: Fits almost all of the qualifications, short of actually killing someone, for now.
* HolyHalo: His OneWingedAngel gives him one. He lost it shortly thereafter, including some of the traces of [[spoiler:Ayon that he gained when he absorbed it]].
* InherentlyFunnyWords: '''[[http://www.mangareader.net/bleach/487/13 OOK!]]'''
* ImplacableMan: My ''god'', this man ''will not die''! [[spoiler:It took getting ''sliced in half'' to finally take him down]].
* [[spoiler: TheJailer: He claims that the Emperor gave him the letter "J", which stands for "Jail". Fits him considering he uses a device that traps Ichigo in a jail made of spirit particles as he was heading for Soul Society.]]
* {{Jerkass}}: If you want to join the Vandenreich, he wants you to kneel down and lick his boots, but when they actually try to join peacefully, he butchers them anyway. When one of the few survivors suggests retreating, ''he kills him personally''. The guy definitely follows the Emperor's example.
* KickThemWhileTheyAreDown: He ordered his subordinates to beat up two Numeros ''after'' they were already unconscious.
* [[spoiler: MadeOfIron]]: [[spoiler: He survives a brutal beatdown from AYON. The same [[CurbstompBattle Ayon who singlehandedly defeated four Lieutenants.]]]]
* NightmareFace: In Chapter 499.
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: Sans his [[spoiler:second OneWingedAngel]], the man looks downright cartoony.
* NoSell: A fairly clever example. He can't seal Ichigo's bankai, so he has no way of intimidating Ichigo (or Urahara) in the same way he did to his previous enemies.
* OhCrap: He wasn't expecting that shot from [[spoiler:Urahara]].
* OneWingedAngel: The "Quincy: Vollständig" form, even more so once he absorbs Ayon.
* OurAngelsAreDifferent: His Vollständig form.
* PowerGivesYouWings
* PrideBeforeAFall: Unlike most, however, he actually tries to think his way out of it, instead of just throwing a tantrum.
* PuttingOnTheReich: The only way he could look more like a Nazi was if he had a small square mustache.
* RealityWarper: Enslaving reishi means he can absorb anything he wants, no matter who or what it is it is.
* RedBaron: [[spoiler: The Jail]].
* RoyalRapier: The first weapon we see him use is a rapier.
** Technically it's a military saber, but still ornate and pretty enough to be considered ''royal''.
* ScaryShinyGlasses: He loses them halfway through, though.
* SecretKeeper: Specifically about the motives of his leader and his knowledge of Ishida.
* SerialEscalation: {{No Sell}}ing a point-blank Getsuga is cool, but [[spoiler:assimilating Ayon into him]] is amazing.
* SlasherSmile: Sports a permanent one [[spoiler:after absorbing Ayon]]. It's borderline NightmareFace material.
* SortingAlgorithmOfEvil: His [[HeroKiller incredible]] [[ImplacableMan feats]] set the tone for just how dangerous the Stern Ritter can be.
* SlouchOfVillainy: In his first appearance.
* SmugSnake: Subverted. The guy definitely has an ego, but he's still incredibly dangerous.
* StoryBreakerPower: Like all Quincies can enslave energy, irrevocably absorbing it into him - and everything is made of energy.
* TakeThat: Based on what he'd seen of the fraccions so far, he concluded Aizen's choice of subordinates was quite poor.
* YourPrincessIsInAnotherCastle: [[spoiler: Gets one-shot by Urahara and seems finished, but just as Ichigo was leaving to head for Soul Society, Opie survived and used a device that to Ichigo in a cage made of spirit particles.]]
* WhamLine: "You must have heard about this ability before. An ability called Quincy: Letzt Stil". If Kirge's words and actions are any implication, every member of the Stern Ritter, and the Vandenreich leader himself, all possess the Quincy: Letzt Stil.

An Arrancar affiliated with the Vandenreich, appearing suddenly in Ichigo's room to introduce himself. He attempted to steal Ichigo's Bankai, before returning to the Emperor to confess his failure.
----
* BadassLongcoat: He has a long, white, double-breasted trench coat with shoulder straps, tied using a black belt at its waist, which is adorned with a decorative buckle.
* BadLiar: Has a Hollow mask. Claims he isn't an Arrancar. Riiiiight.
* [[{{BFG}} BF... Bow]]: He pulled out a gargantuan [[SpikesOfVillainy spiked bow.]] to fight Ichigo with.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: For an Arrancar, he's a tad odd (like refusing to leave Ichigo's bed).
* DidntSeeThatComing: Attempted to take Ichigo's Bankai, but the medallion method failed and he was forced to retreat.
* DisproportionateRetribution: Inverted. Ebern stands on Ichigo's bed, and refuses to move. Ichigo high kicks him out the window.
* EyepatchOfPower: His mask covers his left eye, with three holes on it.
* FascinatingEyebrow: Which apparently always looks like that.
* NightmareFace: When he thought he was about to succeed in neutralizing Ichigo's bankai, the maniacal glee on his face was very disconcerting to see.
* SacrificialLamb: He's the first of the Vandenreich we meet and he attacks Ichigo very quickly into the arc. [[BadBoss Then we learn how harsh his master is]].

* BadassLongcoat: The standard uniform.
* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: Implied.

::'''The Emperor of the Vandenreich''':

* {{Jerkass}}: ''Aizen'' wasn't this unpleasant.
* NoNameGiven: Thus far.

----
* AmbiguousGender: Thus far, although As Nodt speaks with the masculine pronoun "boku."
* BlackEyesOfEvil

::'''Kirge Opie'''

* BossInMookClothing: Holy shit.
* DisproportionateRetribution: His forte.
* FourEyesZeroSoul
* GenreSavvy: See SecretKeeper below.
* InherentlyFunnyWords: '''[[http://www.mangareader.net/bleach/487/13 OOK!]]'''
* NightmareFace: In Chapter 499.
* OurAngelsAreDifferent: His Vollständig form.
* PowerGivesYouWings
* RedBaron: [[spoiler: The Jail]].
