* WorldsStrongestMan: He is by far, ''the'' most powerful character in the cast (well until the introduction of [[spoiler:Susano'o, which uses the exact same body]]). [[WorfHadTheFlu Even at ''a quarter'' of his full power he can defeat most of the cast.]] The only other beings considered in the same league as him at full power is [[BigGood Jubei]], the "strongest living creature in existence", Terumi and Azrael.

-> Unlike the other characters, he does not have a regular [[ManaMeter Heat gauge]], instead using his own Magatama meter that gradually stores up to 8 orbs, used for special moves and Distortion Drives. The meter fills up automatically over time in addition to being filled by attacking and defending. His Drive ability, '''Zanshin/God Slash''', is a multi-purpose countering maneuver that helps to fill his meter. In ''[[VideoGame/BlazBlueChronoPhantasma Chronophantasma]]'', his Overdrive is '''Kishin/Demon God''', which greatly accelerates his meter gauge, and allows him to cancel his counters in his special moves.

-> In the fourth game, his Exceed Accel '''Kokūjin Kingi: Tengai/Empty Sky Forbidden Form: Heavenfall''' has him stun his foe with a low kick. If it hits, he knocks down the foe with another kick and then leaps up and [[DeathFromAbove finishes with a powerful chop from above with his blade.]] His Astral Finish, '''Kokūjin Ōgi: Akumetsu[[note]]Lit. "Empty Sky True Form: Evil's Destruction[[/note]]/Judgment of the Sword''', involves him performing a counter. If the opponent falls for it, the background suddenly switches to the style of an ancient Japanese scroll painting and he unleashes a fatal strike upon his opponent which fills the screen with blood.

* CounterAttack: His standard Drive, Yukikaze and Akumetsu, work on this principle.

* SwordBeam: He has one for a Distortion Drive, Kokuujin: Shippu/Empty Sky Form: Summer's Advance [[spoiler: not unlike Jin's Touga Hyojin/Ice Wave Distortion]]

* ThemeNaming: Japanese mythology, as well as [[FloralThemenaming flowers]] and nature. His Distortion Drives and Astral Heats also starts with "Kokuujin/Empty Sky Form".

* IdealHero: He always follows the ideals of justice that his master taught him, even if he gets mocked for it at times. Such that [[spoiler:he believes in making Ikaruga great again in his own way, rather than trying to kill Noel as Izanami and Nine suggested in ''CF'', or [[EasilyForgiven completely not mentioning his pain of Litchi attacking and betraying him in CP]], instead helping out on her quest.]]

* AFatherToHisMen: Bang treats his subordinates with caring passion, he never belittles them, and seems to enjoy participating in any trivial tasks and manual labor alongside them as an equal. His subordinates reciprocate by praising Bang all the time, to the point it looks like this is their only purpose as minor characters in the game.

%%-> [[spoiler:While wandering through Ikaruga, he eventually found out the horrid truth that Litchi has taken the side of NOL. In an attempt to eventually fix that, Bang runs into Relius Clover and was revealed one of the uses of the Phoenix Rettenjou: It is the key the Kushinada's Lynchpin, a device that possesses enough power to create a massive destruction by purging all seithr in the world, bringing the day known as 'Day of Destruction'. Relius also told Bang that Lord Tenjou had known that one function and could've used it to make Ikaruga Federation win the war, but didn't use it as he recognized that it would bring a greater calamity instead as the world is highly dependant on seithr, shocking Bang. It's unknown what happened to Bang afterwards, except that Hazama's Arcade ending shows that Relius has taken Bang's Rettenjou away for his other plans.]]

%%-> The story mode is vastly different, however. [[spoiler:Bang departed from his entourage with Platinum and also said good bye to Carl. An encounter with Jin Kisaragi sent him through the basement and had him encounter the mercenary Bullet where he travels with her for awhile until he's summoned by Kagura Mutsuki, learning that the son of Lord Tenjou, Homura Amanohokosaka, is alive and urges him to fulfill his mission to protect Ikaruga. He was preparing to use the Phoenix Rettenjou to activate the Kushinada Lynchpin... but he was attacked from behind by none other than Litchi, remorsefully siding with Relius Clover to recreate the world into a world where Roy Carmine (Arakune) lives. Making matters worse, Carl also joined forces with Relius so the latter can cure Ada. Betrayed by his love interest and '#2 Apprentice', Bang could only withstand their attacks until both Tsubaki Yayoi and Makoto Nanaya reinforced him and he took on Relius, eventually taking off to the sky carrying the Phoenix Rettenjou (with Valkenhayn taking over his place in battle). Praying for strength from Lord Tenjou, Bang sent the Phoenix Rettenjou into the Kushinada Lynchpin, decreasing the amount of seithr in the world and making Gigant: Takemikazuchi vulnerable for Ragna to defeat. What happened to Bang and how he felt on the betrayal of the two people he valued a lot was unknown, although he didn't know that both Carl and Litchi reversed the role of 'being manipulated like puppets' to Relius due to his success.]]

* DefectorFromDecadence: Central Fiction sheds more info on Bang’s days before the Ikaruga War, [[spoiler:he wasn’t just Tenjou’s disciple and bodyguard, Bang was part of the Imperial Guard which made him officially part of the NOL; when the war broke out Bang didn’t want to take sides, he put priority in the safety of his master and the innocent people caught in crossfire, the aftermath was Bang being torn with his master’s death and disgusted with the actions of the Lybrary, which led him to lead the refuges to Ronin-gai thus parting ways with the NOL, becoming a vigilante ever since]].

* FailureKnight: He still couldn't hang over his guilt of letting Lord Tenjou die by the hands of Jin.

* {{Foil}}: Gains a rather humorous dynamic with Kagura in ''Chronophantasma''. They're both [[spoiler: disciples of Tenjou]] and total perverts; but Bang stays loyal to his master even after his death, more of a CovertPervert and has [[SingleTargetSexuality eyes only for Litchi.]] Kagura joins the NOL, the same organization responsible for Tenjou's death, and has [[HandsomeLech no compunctions on hitting on anything remotely attractive to him.]]

* ManlyTears: Sheds those when he [[spoiler:reunites with his Tenjou's son, Homura, after trying to secure any info on his location to no avail before this meeting]].

* MementoMacguffin: The nail he carries around? It was given as a memento by his lord Tenjou, and it's more important than it looks. [[spoiler: It turns out to be Phoenix Rettenjou, a Nox Nyctores. Not only that, it houses Tenjou's soul.]]

* SoulJar: Not him. [[spoiler: The nail he carries around houses Lord Tenjou's soul.]]

** It turns out this happens in the canon path (though he also learns about the presence of Tenjou's son). Bang's ''Continuum Shift'' story begins with him saving Litchi from an unknown assailant (not Hakumen), and then sort of came BackFromTheDead (Tao was making up stories for that one). Which means, Bang pretty much gained Litchi's respect. However, this gets yanked again as unknown to Bang, [[spoiler:Litchi ends up joining NOL out of desperation]].

* BlueAndOrangeMorality: You thought Nu's {{Yandere}}-ness for Ragna was the [[{{Understatement}} "limit" of her insanity]]? ''Chronophantasma'' kicks it up a notch: [[spoiler:it turns out that doing TheMasochismTango with Ragna is ''the 'only' ''thing she understands''. She says that it literally ''saddens'' her to hear that Ragna is trying to save people rather than kill them, including herself.]]

* {{Leitmotif}}: 'Tempest/Reppuu'', an extremely bombastic piece that describes his [[HotBlooded ''BURNING SOUL'']] And of course, both of his [[SuperMode Fu-Rin-Ka-Zan]] themes, ''Bang The Nail With A Hammer'' and ''Bang! Bang! Big Bang!''

She reveals that she's in love with Ragna and wants him to join her in [[NietzscheWannabe destroying]] [[KillEmAll the world]]. When he refuses and breaks her heart, [[IfICantHaveYou she suddenly becomes a mega-bitch and decides to take him by force]]. She wants to join with Ragna to complete it, and in the way, becomes the Black Beast together and destroy the world. Her giant sword/armor device, Lux Sanctus: Murakumo, is also a Nox Nyctores. Her true purpose is actually to observe the Boundary and guard the Gate from all who try to enter it.

* TookALevelInBadass: he went from being one of the worst characters to use in Calamity Trigger, to being pretty good in Continuum Shift and now considered by many to be in the upper tiers in Chronophantasma. This is due to his Overdrive enhancing his basic abilities to its fullest.

* BowtiesAreCool: Of both the Badass and Adorkable varieties.

* ThatManIsDead: [[spoiler:In ''Continuum Shift'', he has completely renounced the name "Jin Kisaragi", stating that it no longer has any meaning to him.]]

* CessationOfExistence: [[spoiler:Terumi destroys his soul when taking back the Susano'o Unit.]]
