It did not help that Meg was very clueless about what was going in the house. She needed some of her other allies, such as Jackie and Jason, to help her in the strategic department. There were times when Meg even came off as a liability to her alliance (James, Jackie, Jason, Da'Vonne) because she could not win any competitions to keep herself and her allies safe and she did not contribute anything in terms of game intelligence or strategy. * BitchInSheepsClothing: Vanessa originally presented herself as someone who was friendly and approachable. But with time, she exposed her true personality. She ended up being a huge AlphaBitch who was controlling, manipulative and confrontational. She's also a bully who likes to constantly pick fights with other houseguests for the hell of it. And she's also a DramaQueen and an AttentionWhore who completely thrives off of drama and fighting. If she doesn't get the attention she wants, she'll throw a temper tantrum or end up treating everyone else like garbage. Vanessa appeared to best likeable preseason and during the start of the game that it was an absolutely disappointment for many fans because they believed her to be someone who was going to impress them with her excellent gameplay as well as be a likeable houseguests worth rooting for. Boy, were the fans completely misled by Vanessa when her true colors showed.

* TheHeavy: Although Vanessa was the BigBad who was running the entire game and manipulating everyone, Austin was seen as the major villain of the season. It was thought that Austin was the most dangerous player in the game who had the best shot at winning, but Vanessa was the one running things the entire time. Austin's distrust and dislike of Vanessa became stronger when he realized that she was the one who was responsible for Steve putting Austin and Liz on the block during Week 11. He finally realized that Vanessa was dishonest and did not have his back, so he turned on her and threw his loyalty behind Liz and Julia 100%. Austin's hatred towards Vanessa increased even more in Week 12, then Vanessa, who was the [=HOH=] that week, back doored Austin after John won the [=POV=]. To make matters worse, Vanessa was the tie-breaking vote that evicted him. Austin was completely angered at Vanessa for being responsible for his eviction and he even proclaimed that Vanessa will not win the game, because she is such a dirty player. When Vanessa was finally evicted at Final 3, he was very happy and elated to see that Vanessa did not make the Final 2.

* TheAce: Vanessa is the strongest strategic and competitive player of the season. Not only has she ran the game and the entire house strategically since the beginning, but she has also won numerous competitions. So far, she has won four Head of Household titles and [[spoiler: three Power of Vetoes]]. She's repeatedly shown to be the most deadly player in the game all around.
* ActionGirl[=/=]DarkActionGirl: Vanessa is the strongest female competitor and player of the season. She was actually a much stronger competitor than the majority of the men this season including Austin, Clay, John, James and Jason. Going on competition wins, she has won a total of 4 Head of Household titles and 3 Power of Veto titles. Not only was she active competition wise but she was also active strategically. Vanessa was TheManBehindTheMan who ran the game from the beginning, having had a hand in every single eviction that happened week to week. As for her overall gameplay she is the embodiment of a very strong female player.
* AllAccordingToPlan: Vanessa was the most strategic player. Every move she made she had planned. Every single fight with a houseguest that happened, she had orchestrated as target placement of a the houseguest she wanted to be targeted and evicted. She would strategically throw competitions and win competitions according to her plan. She would backstab and betray the people that she felt were a threat to her game. But in the end, Vanessa's plan ended up failing as she did not bet on Steve winning the final Head of Household and cutting her. Vanessa has even said during a DR session that she thought Steve would take her to the final 2 over Liz. But she was wrong. So in the end, Vanessa failed.
* '''AlphaBitch''': Vanessa is the BIGGEST bitch of the entire season. Even the mean girls like Julia and Liz can not fill Vanessa's bitch shoes. Vanessa is very controlling, bossy, and domineering. She likes to control everything and if she doesn't get her way, she resorts to causing trouble and drama. Vanessa is a MagnificentBitch, a ManipulativeBitch, TheBully, an evil blonde, and a DramaQueen all rolled into one. Vanesa is also HotBlooded and extremely confrontational and argumentative, meaning that she will start fights with other people either to embarrass them, shame them or harass them. Most of Vanessa starting fights with other houseguests was strategic as she felt that she could put target placement on houseguests whom she had an argument with. She is willing to intimidate and bully other people to get her way and she will sabotage other people's games to achieve her goals. Vanessa is a combo of the the Type 1 and Type 2 Alpha Bitch personalities. She fits the Type 1 mould because she is openly rude and intimidating towards other houseguests and does not seem to have any consideration for who she hurts in the process. Despite her terrible personality and her horrible behaviour, Vanessa still had a lot of followers and minions that were loyal to her and willing to do anything for her in the game. Vanessa also fits the Type 2 personality because she is actually an EvilGenius and ManipulativeBitch who has proven to be very strategic, cunning, and sharp in regards to the game. She is a very smart woman and has very strong instincts regarding the game and the other houseguests intentions. To add, she also has a near ZeroPercentApprovalRating outside of the house, because she is so incredibly unlikeable and vile in her ways. Vanessa is the overall Alpha Bitch of the season, but Julia, Liz and even Shelli are her BetaBitch's, as she was controlling them in the game and they were allies who worked for her.
* AmbiguousDisorder: Vanessa has shown she's mentally unstable and she may suffer from a variety of different mental disorders although she is most likely undiagnosed. There's some speculation that Vanessa may suffer from '''BipolarDisorder (Manic Depression)'''. She shows the classic symptoms of someone who suffers from the disorder such as manic/hypomanic episodes, severe [[MoodSwinger mood swings]], incoherent and racing thoughts, [[MotorMouth rapid speech]], extreme [[HotBlooded irritability]], [[DelusionsOfGrandeur grandiose beliefs and ideas]], inflated [[AGodAmI sense of self-importance]], [[WildCard unpredictability]], euphoric/high moods, [[TheEeyore constant depressive/sad]] episodes, and constant crying spells. Others speculate that Vanessa may suffer from '''[[HollywoodPersonalityDisorders Borderline Personality Disorder]] (BPD)'''. The symptoms of ADHD that she exhibits includes restlessness, hyperactivity, lack of focus or concentration, racing thoughts and speech, and excessive, over the top behavior.
* ArchEnemy: Vanessa has quite a few of these. It’s not surprising considering what she's done and how many people she's betrayed throughout the game.
** '''John.''' Probably the biggest contender as her one true enemy throughout the entire game. John and Vanessa have been on opposing sides with John being the BigGood and Vanessa being the BigBad of the season.Vanessa has always viewed John as a threat to her game. John has always been onto Vanessa and her tactics. He acknowleged in a DR session that he has been onto Vanessa’s game since the beginning but has never been able to do anything about it. Vanessa has been John’s number one target for the entire game and he has told numerous houseguests this. John has also said that he does not like the way Vanessa plays the game, using intimidation and bullying. John even flat out called Vanessa out on her behaviour, even referring to Vanessa as TheBully to her face. Vanessa did not take this well and she ended up targeting him even more than before. After John is evicted and comes back after winning the jury re-entry competition, John decides to play EnemyMine and make a DealWithTheDevil by aligning with Vanessa. It doesn’t end well as Vanessa ends up going back to targetting him. In the Final 4, Vanessa ends up being the sole vote to evict him and he is sent to jury as the eighth jury member. It is very obvious that John and Vanessa had no loyalties to each other as John said after he was evicted a second time that he would have evicted Vanessa and not honored their “Final 2 deal”. There is also the fact that John and Vanessa had strongly conflicting personalities and they just did not like each other or respect each other on a personal level.
** '''Becky.''' Vanessa describes Becky as this in a DR in Episode 24 (Week 8). The biggest reason why Vanessa viewed Becky as an enemy is because Becky was onto Vanessa and was planning on comign after her. Becky ends up winning Head of Household and targeting Vanessa for eviction. Vanessa thought that she was untouchable and invincible and that she would never touch the block. After Becky backdoors Vanessa once Steve won the Power of Veto, Vanessa throws a temper tantrum at Becky, saying that she will get revenge against her for putting her on the block. Vanessa gets so angry at Becky that she ends up personally attacking Becky calling her a “cold hearted bitch” and a mean person. Becky also showed that she clearly disliked Vanessa and did not respect her or her gameplay. Becky would constantly trash talk Vanessa to other houseguests, saying that she was a manipulative bitch who cries all the time and makes herself come off as a victim. Becky would also make fun of Vanessa by imitating her behaviour. For Becky, Vanessa was her number one enemy. For Vanessa, Becky was a secondary enemy in the game after John.
** '''Austin.''' The two started out as close allies in the game from the beginning. They had even made a promise that they would take each other to the end. However, at some point, Vanessa had made plans on back dooring Austin, Vanessa felt as though Austin was betraying her and turning on her. Vanessa claimed that she caught Austin lying and throwing her under the bus to other houseguests. Vanessa ended up forgiving Austin after he begged her for a second chance. But in Week 12, Vanessa made plans on targeting Austin once more. After John (her first target) had won the Final 5 Power of Veto, Vanessa replaced John with Austin. Austin, even though nominated, felt that he was safe against Steve on the block. But during the final 5 eviction, Vanessa ended up blindsiding Austin in the most dirty imaginable after the vote went to a tie and Vanessa broke it. Austin ended up extremely angry and bitter at Vanessa even going so far as saying that Vanessa will not get the jury votes if she makes it to the Final 2 chairs. Austin even said in his interview to Julie that he will make sure that Vanessa does not win the game. Vanessa ended up turning a once ally into a angry enemy. When Vanessa was cut at Final 3 by Steve, Austin was elated and happy to see that Vanessa was cut when she was so close to getting to the end and winning.
** '''James.''' James had been targeting Vanessa for a while. The reason for this is because Vanessa had been targeting and evicting James' allies one by one. She went after Jeff, Da'Vonne, Audrey and Jason, all of which were James' allies in the game. James has also been onto Vanessa and her gameplay, even openly stating tthat he does not respect the way Vanessa plays the game because she plays way too hard and aggressive. When James confronted Vanessa and told this to her face, Vanessa took it as a huge insult and targeted James even more than before. Vanessa also was after James because he was obviously targeting her allies, such as Shelli and Clay. James was the one who was responsible for Vanessa's allies, Shelli and Clay, being nominated and one of them going home (Clay). James saw that Vanessa was the most dangerous player in the game and had a strong desire to take her out. Unfortunately for him, he managed to fail. Despite James and Vanessa's differences in the game and them being on opposite sides of the house, James admits later on that if Vanessa were in the Final 2, he would have voted for her to win, despite him saying earlier on that he did not like the way Vanessa played the game.
* AttentionWhore: It is obvious that many of Vanessa's antics or behaviour conducted in the game were mostly strategic on Vanessa's part. This includes her desire to be the centre of attention at all times. One could assume that Vanessa acted confrontational with other houseguests because she seriously loved the drama and the attention that came along with it. Vanessa will also cry out of the blue, even when there is no reason for her to be crying in the first place. She did this because she wanted attention and sympathy from the other houseguests. It is clear that Vanessa is a mega DramaQueen who loves drama for the hell of it. Vanessa's attention seeking ways managed to turn off many of the other houseguests.
* ASimplePlan: To avoid getting blood on her hands in the game by carrying out the plan to backdoor Austin herself, Vanessa draws out a plan with Jackie to have James and Liz throw the Week 5 Battle of the Block comp, so Jackie can backdoor Austin instead. Unfortunately, this plan also involved intentionally not clueing in Liz on the plan once Julia traded places with her or on Austin's statement that he wanted to sell out Julia so he can go to jury with Liz, to keep her head in the game. It backfires on them when Liz wins the comp, leaving Clay and Becky on the block and Vanessa in power... and having to do the thing she didn't want to do, target Austin. Vanessa chose to keep Liz in the dark through the POV, despite her worry that it could backfire again should Liz win the comp without knowing everything (she didn't, Clay did). Vanessa, questioning whether it is a good idea to blow up the Sixth Sense alliance by ousting Austin, then began to reconsider the plan – betraying Jason, Meg, James and Jackie in the process and exposing her other alliance after she, Clay and Shelli agreed upon putting up Jason as a replacement nominee after Clay wins the POV. This came back to bite her alliance when James won [=HoH=] without a [=BoB=] twist, and led to Clay's eviction, possibly starting the descent of Sixth Sense anyway – particularly with Vanessa ending up as Becky's backdoor target in Week 7 (Becky failed to get her evicted).
* BaitTheDog[=/=]BitchInSheepsClothing: During pre season and the first couple of weeks of the season, Vanessa seemed like she would be a likeable houseguest. Fans rooted for her because she seemed to be very intelligent and could possibly be a really strong female player. However, as the weeks passed, Vanessa's true colors came out and it was evident that she was a very unlikeable person. Instead of being a likeable and strong female houseguest that the audience had hope for, Vanessa revealed herself to be a very mean, aggressive, hateful and domineering individual who was also a drama queen who cried too much for attention. She progressively got worse as the season went on to the point where her popularity amongst the audience dropped so low that she became one of the most hated or disliked houseguests of the season. Even after the season is long over, there are still a large and vocal group of ''Big Brother'' fans who hate her guts. They even managed transfer their feelings of disdain and hatred towards Vanessa out on her younger sister, Tiffany, who became a houseguest on ''Big Brother 18''.
* BelievingTheirOwnLies: Every time that Vanessa opens her mouth, she is lying about something. She states that she hates people who lie to her, yet she has no problem doing it herself. Vanessa lies so much but she doesn't seem to realize that she is lying herself. And when she is lying, she has a tendency to believe that what she is saying is the truth or is reality. Vanessa will use mind games while lying to other people by trying to convince them that she is telling the truth while they are the ones who are lying when it is very apparent when Vanessa is the one doing the lying and the deceiving in the first place.
* BerserkButton[=/=]{{Hypocrite}}: Vanessa ''really'' hates liars and can tell when someone is lying. This is odd because she's lied to pretty much every houseguest in telling them they were safe, while secretly plotting their demise. Whenever Vanessa caught a houseguest in a lie or if she discovered that someone in the house was going against her or wanted her out of the house, she would get very angry and resort to bullying people.
* BigBad: Could be considered to be the overall villain of the season, which is the opposite of John (John and Vanessa were each other's one true ArchEnemy and the two butted heads for the entire game) who could be seen as the overall TheHero and BigGood. Vanessa is an AlphaBitch, an EvilGenius, TheBully, a ConsummateLiar, and a ManipulativeBitch. She is easily being portrayed as the villain and she is one of the most hated houseguests of the season with a mild ZeroPercentApprovalRating from the viewers. It doesn't help that she is extremely aggressive and that she seems to take pleasure in bullying people and emotionally manipulating others. She has also lied to and backstabbed almost every single houseguest with little to no remorse. She will start fights with people but then blame the other person for starting the fight while she plays the victim card. Vanessa is also a dirty player who has gotten personal and petty during the game. Many of her moves have been personal and she unnecessarily treated other houseguests terribly. Her status as villain was briefly downplayed during Week 11, when she solidified an alliance with John and Steve. However, she went back to being the villain in Week 12 after she targets John, the fan favorite. It was clear that she was the most dangerous player of the entire season. Vanessa had played the role of TheManBehindTheMan aka the puppet master that controlled everything. Vanessa has many TheDragon's working for her and doing her dirty work for her (Austin, Shelli, Clay, Liz, Julia, Steve). Vanessa was the biggest threat to everyone's game. Although Austin, Shelli, Julia and Liz were obvious villains that were unlikeable, Vanessa was the major danger and threat.
* BiTheWay: Vanessa has dated men in the past but she is currently involved in a relationship with a woman named Mel. Vanessa has said on the live feeds that she was married but that her husband Chad (who was also a poker player) had gotten cancer and then he died. Vanessa said that after her husband was diagnosed with cancer, she had gotten a divorce from him. She has expressed guilt for doing such a thing, feeling like she should have supported him through his illness more. See LipstickLesbian.
* BitchAlert: Vanessa is a very emotional, volatile and aggressive person. She is also TheBully who likes to intimidate people to get her way. She is a bitch and she seems to make it known to everyone that she likes to be the one in control. Vanessa doesn't seem to care that she backstabs and lies to people as long as she gets her way. She obviously believes that she is the one who runs the house. Vanessa can walk into a room and everyone would be able to sense or feel her major bitch vibe. She also come across as very intimidating.
* BloodKnight: Vanessa is a big competitor and she is not one to back down from a fight. She has won a lot of competitions (she won a total of 4 Head of Household titles and 3 Power of Veto titles). She is also very impulsive and HotBlooded and she doesn't seem to think before she acts. If she doesn't win competitions to fight against the other houseguests, she will resort to using strategy and manipulation. If strategy and manipulation do not work, then she will resort to intimidation or bullying tactics to achieve her goals in the game. Vanessa has a very aggressive, "guns blazing" attitude.
* BrooklynRage: Vanessa is originally from New York (White Plains, New York to be exact), but she currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada because she is a professional poker player for a living. Vanessa definitely displays the attitude and the personality of someone who is from New York, in that she has a very aggressive and HotBlooded personality.
* TheBully: Vanessa has used intimidating tactics on other houseguest to get information out of them, and came off as a major bully. John has told Vanessa to her face that she was this, and did not like or respect her bullying ways. Vanessa also has a habit of starting fights with people, and crying afterwards as a way of emotionally manipulating people.
* BadBoss: Vanessa was seen to treat her allies very poorly. Even though she has so many people willing to do all of her diary work for her and are willing to be loyal to her, despite her intolerable personality, she doesn't seem to understand that the game of ''Big Brother'' is a social game. In order to win in the end, one needs a strong social game where the fellow houseguest are treated with kindness. Vanessa not only treated her enemies horribly, but she would be pretty awful to her close allies, such as Austin and Steve for example. Austin was very loyal to her since the beginning, but Vanessa would often intimidate Austin and try to humiliate him simply because she enjoyed watching him be uncomfortable. And she didn't always treat Steve very nicely either. When Steve was nominated alongside John, Vanessa went out of her way to call him out and start an argument with him about him starting an four or five person alliance with John to try to get Vanessa out of the house. She had no problem making Steve panic in front of the house, showing that she is little to no regard for her allies feelings.
* BrokenTears: She fell apart when she broke a tie and voted Austin out of the house because he was in a showmance, and he called her out that she wouldn't win the jury vote, and she knew it.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Her poker experience definitely showed in running the game alongside Shelli, but she's very emotional. In fact, the first live feed moment we saw is Vanessa crying about missing her girlfriend. Ironically enough, Vanessa has stated that she went to law school before entering the professional poker circuit, which would have made her a half-literal interpretation of this trope had she not changed career paths.
* CantKillYouStillNeedYou: Despite Steve frequently [[TheStarscream lying to her and proving to be an untrustworthy ally]], Vanessa would not pull the trigger on getting him eliminated because she felt she needed him when it came down between her and the "Austwins." [[FatalFlaw This proved to ultimately be her downfall.]]
* TheChessmaster: Despite, presumably, wearing her emotions on her sleeve, Vanessa has time and again managed to manipulate the house into getting the game to go her way. Right down to making it two the Final 5 and contending with two "Final 2 Pairings" [[note]] Austin and Liz, and Johnny Mac and Steve[[/note]] and successfully breaking them up.
* ConsummateLiar: Vanessa is probably the biggest liar in the entire house. If Vanessa is openingher mouth, then she is most likely telling a lie. She doesn’t seem to feel bad or guilty for lying either. Vanessa was caught in a few lies in later weeks, increasing the target on her back. One in particular occurred when Becky outed Vanessa's Week 5 plan to get out Austin: in Week 9, when Austin earns his first [=HOH=], Vanessa lies to him about having James throw the POV competition to enact the backdoor plan she later bailed out on. She eventually admits she knew about the plan when Austin asks her upfront about it later on.
* DirtyCoward: Repeatedly stated how much she hated when people lied to her and betrayed her to get farther in the game. Yet, she had consistently said that she was willing to backstab and betray people to get father in the game herself. She had made so many Final 2 deals throughout the game with numerous people (she had Final 2 deals with Steve, Julia, Austin, Liz, John, etc) and had thrown ‘’all of them’’ under the bus to each other at one point. Therefore, it only made Vanessa come off as disloyal, backstabbing and shady. An example of this is her making a Final 2 deal with Austin and making promises that she will want to get to the end with him, yet she does him extremely dirty by nominating him and then blindsiding him unnecessarily. Vanessa also made a Final 2 deal with Julia, promising that she will take her to the end, yet she ends up voting her out. Vanessa said that she wanted to go to the end with John; therefore, she made a Final 2 deal with him. However, she had no intentions of upholding the deal she made with John and had no problems with voting him out at Final 4. Vanessa was even going to throw Steve to the wolves without any regret and had planned on backstabbing him at Final 3 shall she win the final [=HOH=]. And Steve is somebody whom she had loyalty for the majority of the game! It is clear Vanessa had no problem with being a dirty player and throwing people, including her own allies, under the bus. When she does end up backstabbing people, she will blame someone else for her actions, cry and then play the victim card. Vanessa may have been a strong player but she was also a big time coward as she never owned up to her lies, her manipulation, her intimidation, her bullying tactics and her deceptive behaviour. She would even lie about her game and her intentions during her DR sessions. All in all, Vanessa is the epitome of a scumbag player.
* '''DramaQueen''': Vanessa was the biggest drama queen in the entire house. She would get overly emotional about almost ''everything''. She seemed to thrive off of starting drama with other houseguests. Hence, the reason why she resorted to displaying intimidating and bullying behaviour. Vanessa’s MO was to start fights with houseguests so that they would become a target. Any houseguest that Vanessa wanted out would end up having some kind of an altercation with her. Vanessa would then end up making the other houseguest look like the bad guy by blaming them instead of taking responsibility for her own behaviour and actions. She would then cry and try to pass herself off as a poor victim that was done wrong by the person she started a fight with. Vanessa has cried so much in the house that she seriously rivals Amber Sivayus (from ''Big Brother 8''), [=GinaMarie=] Zimmerman (from ''Big Brother 15'') and Helen Kim (from ''Big Brother 15'') for the title of “Houseguest Who Has Cried The Most In Big Brother History”. Drama queen is basically Vanessa’s first, middle and last name.
* EntitledBitch: Vanessa would act completely spoiled and bratty when things didn't go as she planned. She would throw a temper tantrum and pout when things didn’t turn out the way she wanted them too. Vanessa says that she absolutely hates liars and backstabbers, yet she was the biggest backstabber and liar in the house. She had thrown everyone under the bus at one point or another. But she apparently had a major problem or issue with anyone that did it to her. She had shown an entitled attitude regarding the houseguests, even saying that anyone that betrayed her would not have her loyalty or her vote at the end. Vanessa showed this bitter and entitled attitude on finale night after Steve evicted her at Final 3. Because Steve evicted her, Vanessa ended up voting for Liz over Steve, even though it was clear that Steve played a better game than Liz all season and that what Steve did by evicting Vanessa was a good game move. The funny thing is that Vanessa said that if the roles were reversed and she had won Final 3 [=HOH=], she would have planned on cutting Steve as well. Vanessa displayed nothing but an entitled attitude all season and she came off as a spoiled, bratty child throwing a temper tantrum and crying because she didn’t get her way.
* EvilGenius: Vanessa is very smart, manipulative and crafty. She is aware of everything that goes on in the house. She always thought up brilliant plans in order to save herself. Vanessa is TheStrategist who is always one step ahead of all of the houseguests. Strategically she dominated the entire season by a long shot. She is a professional poker player after all.
* EvilIsPetty: Vanessa has played the game rather dirty. She has resorted to intimidation tactics and bullying to further herself in the game. She also doesn't seem to feel guilty or bad about lying to people constantly and backstabbing them. Vanessa says that she hates when people lie to her and betray her and gets upset and angered when others do so but she has no problem with doing it herself. A lot of her game moves have been mostly personal for the most part. Vanessa likes to think of herself as strategic player by she has played very personal.
* FatalFlaw: Vanessa has two notable ones, both leading to Steve eliminating her in the Final 3.
** Whenever Vanessa found a target, she would blow up at them and instigate a fight before they would eventually be eliminated. In week 9 she did this to Steve, only to change her mind at the last minute and get everyone to flip the vote onto Johnny Mac. She expected Steve to [[WantsAPrizeForBasicDecency be grateful to this.]] Steve saw it as a sign to eliminate her before the Final 2.
** Despite being the leader of her Alliance between herself, Austin, and the twins, Vanessa also finds herself the most expendable of the four when it comes to loyalty. Because she frequently instigated fights with other house guests, she found herself lacking any other allies outside of Steve, [[TheStarscream who frequently lied to her]], and Johnny Mac, who [[WildCard she could not get a read on what his motives were]]. Vanessa ultimately chooses Steve as her final ally over Johnny Mac, which leads to her own elimination.
* FinalBoss: Vanessa was the houseguest who was opposing Steve. Steve was the only remaining houseguest who was originally from the other side of the house. However, Vanessa lost the final [=HOH=], leading to Steve backdooring her, making her the final person to be evicted.
* GenreBlindness: In Week 7, Vanessa (knowing she could end up as that week's target for eviction) decides to make a deal with Becky to keep her from being put up on the block as a replacement nominee. Vanessa, however, failed to learn the lesson that Shelli learned the previous week that making deals with the [=HoH=] to keep you off the eviction block won't work if you are their intended target, and therefore they do not owe you to honor said deal. Least she expects it, Becky decides to put Vanessa up on the block when Steve wins the POV and takes himself off, going forward with her backdoor plan to get her out, which doesn't work.
* GratuitousFrench: Vanessa busts out a French phrase that translates to "Well, shoot. Damn, really?" after the botched Battle of the Block competition in Week 5.

** Vanessa allowed Clay and Shelli to convince her to go against the Week 5 plan of evicting Austin following his conversation with Jason about the twins, which Jason quickly spread around the house, infuriating Julia, one of the twins. By the time he was evicted again in Week 12, he was on the block a total of ''nine times'', tying Spencer Clawson (''Big Brother 15'') and Victoria Rafaeli (''Big Brother 16'') for the most eviction nominations against a single contestant in a single season.
* BashBrothers: With Clay and Steve. John saw both of them as allies; in fact, he did not take it too well when Clay was evicted in Week 6. After Clay was evicted, Steve basically took Clay's spot as his closest ally.
* BattleCouple: With Becky. Although John and Becky were not in an official showmance and were just friends, they were a strong duo in the game. Their alliance was very much under the radar for the majority of the game as John and Becky decided to keep their alliance as secret as possible. John and Becky also showed that they were very strong competitors and even Clay, Shelli and Liz said that John and Becky were the "power couple" of the season.
* BattleOfWits: Often with Vanessa. According to one of his DR sessions, John was onto Vanessa's game since the beginning, as he has been observing her behaviour and actions throughout the season and knew that she had a hand in almost every single eviction during his time in the house. Vanessa realized that John was onto her and saw her as a target, leading Vanessa to resort to targeting John and trying to slander him personally throughout the house.
* BeardOfSorrow: John started out as clean shaven, but over the course of the season, he began growing a beard or "chin strap". Interestingly enough, during the time that he has been growing his facial hair, he openly admitted that he had been feeling down and depressed because he had lost allies in the game.
* BefriendingTheEnemy: Although Vanessa had been his main enemy for the entire game, when he came back after his brief eviction in Week 9 and won the jury competition, John decided to "befriend" Vanessa and align with her, instead of staying enemies. Some fans argued that Vanessa aligning with John made her more likeable and easier to root for.
* BeingGoodSucks: John is one of the nicest and most genuine houseguests in the house, yet his fellow houseguests took him for granted by either constantly trying to use him for their own game strategy or constantly talking badly about him behind his back because of the constant paranoia surrounding him.
* BerserkButton: John does not like bullying or intimidating behaviour. In fact, when Vanessa resorted to intimidating and bullying him for information, John called Vanessa out on this to her face. During the season, he has shown that he is a huge threat, especially on a competitive and mental level. John has also said that although he has no personal issues with any of his fellow houseguests, he has no problem with having to resort to turning on people in the game in order to progress himself further.
* BewareTheQuietOnes: In his DR entries or on the show, John comes off very eccentric, funny and quirky, but on the feeds, he is the complete opposite and is actually very shy, quiet and introverted, even a loner. A lot of fans say that Austin's eviction was the best blindside of the season and thanked John for making it happen.
* BigGood: Considered to be TheHero, TheHeart, and the AllLovingHero of the season, as John is the kindest and most noble of the Season 17 houseguests. He was kind and good-hearted and was never mean to anyone during the game, and had shown to have a caring and gentle personality that made him so likeable. He could be considered the opposite of Vanessa, who is considered to be the BigBad.
* BirdsOfAFeather: With Steve. Both are {{Adorkable}}, eccentric, quirky, nerdy and both are superfans of ''Big Brother'' (although nobody in the house, including Steve, knew about John's superfan status).
* BornLucky: John is constantly nominated and used as a pawn, yet he had shown that he is able to compete and win competitions when he has to.
* BreakoutCharacter: John is easily the most popular houseguest of the season and is generally well liked by the television and live feed viewers. Most of this reasoning has to do with John being very hilarious and funny in his DR sessions, as well as having the most genuine and down-to-earth personality in the house. It is pretty evident that John is the favorite to win the "America's Favorite Houseguest" prize at the end of the season.
* BreakTheCutie: From the beginning of the game, John was constantly used as a pawn by his fellow houseguests and was repeatedly nominated for eviction, mainly as a pawn to try and get out the in-power HOH's real target. On top of the fact that everybody seemed to use him for their own benefit and take him for granted, John also lost friends and allies he made during the competition left and right from week to week. It didn't help matters that Vanessa had basically bullied and intimidated him in front of the entire house to try and gain information from him, and made it her mission to slander John in the game by suggesting to other houseguests that he had a mood disorder, violent tendencies and possible mental instability, just because John had called Vanessa out on her behaviour and bullying tactics. All of this caused John to spiral into a depression in later weeks. Many of his fellow houseguests were also paranoid about him and believed that he is something that he was not, although John was unaware of the fact that his houseguests constantly talk about him behind his back and speculate about him.
* BrilliantButLazy: Arguable or YMMV. Although John showed that he is very strong/solid on a competitive level, and very clutch in competitions especially when he needed to be, a lot of fans have said that John is weak and useless in other aspects in the game. While he has shown to be very intelligent, he didn't seem to come off that way and seemed more like a dumb and clueless guy who didn't understand the game (although this most likely could have been his strategy to try and conceal his superfan status). Some have said that John has the capabilities and smarts to possibly be a strong strategic player if he wanted to, but never seemed to follow through. Others said that although John is very smart, he did not have a very strong social game and seemed to keep to himself instead of building alliances with other houseguests to ensure his safety. Some fans have even considered John to be a "floater" and believe that he didn't really do anything in terms of game or social strategy. It is clear that John is intelligent (he went to medical school, after all!), but didn't seem to use his smarts when he should have. Adding to this, John also tended to throw competitions when he really shouldn't have. However, it may seem as though he just didn't want to ruffle feathers or get blood on his hands.
* BrokenTears: John cried when Clay and Shelli were nominated in Week 6, and when Clay asked John to promise him to vote him out over Shelli. John also apparently cried again when James decided to not use the POV at the POV ceremony and both Clay and Shelli remained on the block together.
* BrokenPedestal: Constantly thought highly of Clay and Shelli and was extremely loyal to them to a fault, to the point of almost being a slave for them, yet they would sometimes throw him under the bus. There were times when they would even say that John is expendable to them, despite his loyalty. Clay and Shelli also seemed to have no problem with putting John on the block and asking him to throw competitions which would risk his safety in the game. Despite Clay and Shelli always using John and taking him for granted, John still loved them, was loyal to a fault to them and even cried when they were nominated and evicted. Some fans showed frustration with John when it came to his UndyingLoyalty to Clay and Shelli, stating that they don't understand why John would be so loyal to a pair that didn't really seem to have his back or his best interests at heart.
* BrutalHonesty: John is very honest and frank in expressing what he thinks, and had no problem spilling the truth tea. An example of this is when Vanessa had confronted John about their fight in Week 8, when he told Vanessa to her face that she was a bully and did not like her behaviour during their spat. John also had no problem with openly saying that if he won HOH, Vanessa would be his target.
* BunnyEarsLawyer:
** Despite his eccentricities, he proved to be a very intelligent and smart player, using his dental knowledge to nearly expose the twins and remembered a moving shapes exercise he had to take as part of his dentistry exam to dominate the third veto competition.
** Averted in real life, as according to his co-workers at home in his Week 8 hometown montage, John does act professionally in the office.
* ButtMonkey: John was nominated the most times out of the houseguests during season 17, repeatedly being used mainly as a pawn. Not to mention many of his fellow houseguests were very suspicious/paranoid about him, believing that he was something that he is not (such as America's Player, MVP, or that he was related to another houseguest). After John called her out while discussing their earlier confrontation, Vanessa decided to personally slander John to the other houseguests, suggesting that John might have a mood disorder or violent tendencies just because he had the guts to tell her he thought she was a bully. John also gets ostracized by other houseguests because he is also very introverted, a loner and doesn't really fit in with any of the alliances in the house.
* TheCassandra[=/=]CassandraTruth: According to a DR session, John had been onto Vanessa and her game from Week 2 on, having observed her patterns and behaviour in the game while nobody was paying attention. He made a note that anybody that Vanessa will start arguments with players she wanted to target, and tried to recruit other houseguests to have her selected target get evicted afterwards. As John stated, anybody that Vanessa yells at/fights with winds up being evicted. John tried to clue in the other houseguests (such as Clay, Shelli, Austin, Liz, Julia, etc.) about Vanessa's antics, but after John exposed Vanessa for doing this after arguing with her in Week 8, the entire house began targeting Vanessa, putting her on everybody's radar (although they were unsuccessful in getting her out).
* TheChewToy: He was constantly used as a pawn in the game, consistently being put on the block by other houseguests because he is an easy nominee. The houseguests in power also tried to get him to throw competitions, risking his safety in the process. There was also a lot of paranoia surrounding John; many of the houseguests felt that he was not who he said he is, and that he could possibly be a part of a twist.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: He certainly came off as odd, and seemed lost in a lot of conversations. He is also loud, hilarious and zany in his DR sessions, which contributed to his popularity with the audience. However, outside of his DR sessions, he is actually very down-to-earth, calm, cool and collected and a lot of his reads on the game or the house can be somewhat accurate. It is clear that John's eccentricities and oddness could possibly have been part of his strategy to throw other houseguests off. According to his friends, family, co-workers and patients, John is actually very smart and is playing the game very dumb.
* CompetitionFreak: John has shown to be competitive and has won multiple competitions, primarily in POV comps.
* TheConfidant: For Steve. John exhibited a BigBrotherInstinct towards him and looked out for Steve as much as possible, even letting him know if he is behaving odd or annoying people.
* CoolLoser: Although very likable and funny, John didn't seem to really fit into any particular group or alliance in the house, seemingly playing the game solo more than anything else and coming off as a loner and outsider. John even admitted that he was a nerd and loner in high school, only having a couple of friends that he usually hung out with.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: John comes off as quirky and eccentric, but he is a lot smarter than he let others believe. He was also very strong competitively and mentally, yet nobody really saw him as a huge threat that needed to be removed from the game. Some of the houseguests even suggested earlier on that targeting or evicting John would be a waste of an HOH, illustrating how underestimated he really was in the game.
* TheCutie: John is known to be very lovable and endearing, with a shy and introverted nature. He is also incredibly nice, kind and genuine. Hence why he was so popular with the audience as well as with many of the female fans, who go crazy over him.
* DeadpanSnarker: John is by far one of the funniest and most humorous houseguests of the season. In his DR sessions, he was known for being loud, hilarious, and zany. In the house, he was a lot quieter but he still exhibited a dry sense of humour, great comedic timing, and very witty and humorous with a one-liner always on the ready.
* DeathGlare: John supposedly gave one to Austin, much to his confusion, while Austin went to give him a hug following the Week 8 nomination ceremony.
* TheDeterminator: Despite constantly being used as a pawn in eviction nomination, John managed to survive in the game (except for his Week 9 and Week 12 evictions) by winning competitions when he had to.
* DeterminedDefeatist: Faced the most adversity in the game, yet he still fought as hard as he could despite all the odds placed against him. He was never included in any major alliances in the house, yet he always tried to save himself somehow despite not having the best social game and being the outsider. Even when he was evicted the first time and came back into the game, he managed to fight as hard as he could, acknowledging that he knew he had to win all the competitions for the rest of the game in order for him to reach the end.
* DoggedNiceGuy: Sort of, when it came to Becky. John had a crush on her, but Becky only saw him as an ally and friend. John did acknowledge that nothing romantic was going to happen between them though.
* EnemiesEqualsGreatness: John's main enemies in the game, Vanessa and Austin, had targeted him for different reasons. Vanessa targeted John because she saw him as a huge threat to her game, was intelligent and could not read him to figure out his gameplay plan. Austin targeted John because of his likeability and popularity. Vanessa's reasons for wanting John out were based on gameplay, while Austin's were purely personal and out of jealousy.
* EnemyMine: Forms an alliance of sorts with Vanessa of all people upon returning to the house. It didn't last that long considering that Vanessa nominated and targeted him during the Week 11 Double Eviction and evicted him over Liz to put her in the Final 4.
* FaceDeathWithDignity: When Vanessa had won the final 4 Power of Veto, John came to the conclusion that he was the one that was going to be evicted by Vanessa's hand. During his eviction speech John even quoted ''Halo'' saying "If you expect me to beg..... You're going to be disappointed." John was a GracefulLoser and accepted his fate. He was also not bitter about losing and even said that Vanessa and Steve deserve to be at the end.
* TheFettered: Out of all of the houseguests, John is actually playing the game with the most honesty and integrity. He doesn't seem to be into lying and backstabbing as some of the other houseguests are and he for the most part, has proven to be a very loyal individual. John has also shown that he is the nicest of the group, having never trashtalked any of his fellow houseguests or put them down on a personal level.
* FourIsDeath: He was evicted at final 4 after his ArchEnemy Vanessa cast the sole vote to evict him.
* GeekPhysique: Of the skinny type. However, John has been seen to be building more muscle due to lifting a lot of weights in the house. He also realizes and acknowledges that he will never be the overly athletic, muscular or buff guy that Austin is no matter how many weights he lifts.
* GeniusBruiser: He's intelligent (although he doesn't show it), a BadassBookworm and a GuileHero but he's also a good competitor and an ActionHero.
* TheGoodGuysAlwaysWin: SubvertedTrope. John was evicted over Liz (another villain) by the BigBad and his ArchEnemy Vanessa at the final 4. She was the sole vote to evict him.
* GoodIsNotDumb: John is genuine and nice, but he is also a very intelligent guy. He tends to hide his intelligence though as he chooses to play the clueless and dumb strategy to throw his fellow houseguests off.
* GoodIsNotNice: He's a nice guy but he's not to messed with. Since re entering the game, John has become more ruthless, basically saying that he "hates" everyone in the house because they all evicted him. He has also said he is willing to break deals with other people if he has to and make enemies. Although John is very personable and likeable, he has made it evident that he is in it to win it despite playing the dumb or floater strategy all game.
* GracefulLoser: John took his second eviction very well. He was not bitter at all and even admitted that he thinks Vanessa and Steve deserve to be in the finals. Interestingly enough, he was also not bitter during his first eviction either.
* GuileHero: John has proven that although he does not show it, he can very smart, intelligent and strategic when he needs to be. In Week 6 (hours before the eviction ceremony), John decides to play head games by telling Clay that James told him Vanessa was trying to convince Shelli to target him the following week. He ends up admitting he made the whole thing up, but not before his interesting but questionable move – a strategy done to try and aim the target toward Vanessa – nearly causes Clay and James to come to blows (which would have caused Clay to be thrown out of the game) when Vanessa informs James of what Clay told him.
* HasAType: John has openly said that he is drawn to or attracted to taller women, which is one of the reasons why he is so drawn to Becky, the tallest girl in the house. John also said that his crush among all of the ''Big Brother'' female houseguests is Amber Borzotra (from ''Big Brother 16''), who is a model and a StatuesqueStunner at 5'10".
* TheHeart: Probably the kindest and nicest houseguest of the season by far. John is genuine, nice and down to earth and has never made mean comments about any of his fellow houseguests.
* TheHero: Of the season. He's the kindest houseguest of the season by far. He was honest, loyal, good hearted and loved by the viewers very much like Donny last year. Because of this, it is highly probable that he will win the Americas Fave Houseguest prize at the end of the season.
* HeCleansUpNicely: John is normally very casual and laid back when it comes to his attire but when he fixes himself up, actually dresses up and wears nicer clothing, he is actually very handsome.
* TheHeroDies: Considered to be "TheHero" of the season by many, but was evicted by a unanimous 5-0 vote. He came back the same night though thanks to being the last Jury Member standing. He is evicted again for a second time after Vanessa casts the sole vote to evict him at final 4.
* HiddenBadass: Would anybody who takes a first glance at John even think or believe that he would turn out to be one of the strongest male competitors of the season? So far, John has actually out competed the majority of the other men in the game, such as Austin, Clay, Jace,etc. The only other male houseguest who comes close to being as competitive as him is James, although Steve is also catching up. John is also strongly underestimated by the other houseguests and they seem to think that he is a floater who is useless and doesn't understand the concepts of the game. What the houseguests don't know is that John is actually a super fan of the game but he has deliberately chosen to hide this piece of information from the other houseguests as strategy.
* HiddenDepths: Aside from being book smart and being a dentist for his occupation, he is actually a very talented and brilliant musician.
* HollywoodNerd: John is very nerdy but he is a very cute and hot nerd. When John actually dresses up, he is very handsome. He could even be considered MrFanservice because so many female fans go crazy over him.
* HonorBeforeReason: Although John is playing a game that requires one to resort to backstabbing, deceiving and lying, John seems to have not chosen to sacrifice his morals and his integrity in the game. Unlike the other houseguests, he is the most noble and has shown that he is rather loyal to those he has sworn his allegiance to. He has also shown that he does not break his word and is also willing to take one for the team (like volunteering to be nominated in the place of someone else).
* HopeSpringsEternal: Even though Vanessa had won Head of Household at final 5 and was targeting John in hopes of having him evicted for good, all hope was not lost for John as he won his fourth Power of Veto of the season securing his place in the final 4. Unfortunately the hope was lost for John when Vanesssa won final 4 Power of Veto and ended up being the sole vote to evict John.
* HospitalHottie: Averted. John is actually a dentist and he does not work in a hospital. But he could technically still qualify as this, as he is still a doctor and he did attend dental school. According to his patients and his co workers, he is often referred to as "Dr. [=McGuire=]" or "Dr. Mac". Let's not forgot that John is pretty cute, young and hip for a dentist. John even jokes that some of patients questions whether he will know what he is doing as their dentist because he is so young.
* HyperAwareness: Was able to pin down the specific tooth where Julia's fake crown was located as speculation continued surrounding Liz being a twin, and used his memory of moving shapes (which he noted he had to do as part of a Perceptual Ability Test in order to get admitted into dental school) to navigate his dice to the finish line in the Week 3 POV competition.
* InnocentBlueEyes: One of John's most notable physical traits are his clear blue eyes. Many female fans comment on how beautiful his eyes are.
* TheLastDJ: He was the last player in the final 5 and final 4 who played with the most honesty, loyalty and integrity (other than Steve). He had been Vanessa's opposition for the majority of the game and was not as closely aligned with her the way that Austin, Steve, Liz were. John was basically the odd man out and was evicted by Vanessa because of it. John was the underdog of the season and faced the most adversity.
* LimitedWardrobe: John doesn't seem to have a large variety of different clothing that he wears. He is commonly seen wearing his signature "Penn State" hoodie or shirt. He is also often seen lounging around in his pyjamas from time to time.
* MagneticHero: Averted InUniverse. In the house, John doesn't seem to have many allies or friends in the game and the allies and friends that he did have were all evicted. Part of this is because John is very introverted and a loner in personality. Therefore, he has some problems with forming alliances and building relationships. However, outside of the game, John is greatly loved by the ''Big Brother'' viewers and audience and he is a clear favorite to win the "America's Favorite Houseguest" prize shall he not make it to the end.
* MrFanservice: John is very popular with the female viewing population. It could be because he is very likeable in personality (very down to earth, kind, genuine, sweet), because he is very funny and witty (his DR sessions are known to be hilarious and zany) or because he is an adorable and loveable nerd that is also the underdog in the game. Other female fans just think that he is cute and physically appealing. There are some fans who say that they even find John's voice and his laugh very sexy.
* MusclesAreMeaningless: John is not very muscular or athletically built like Austin (who is a jock and a wrestler) and Clay (who is an athlete and a football player) but he is a very strong competitor and has won multiple competitions. He has outcompeted the athletic guys like Austin and Clay and is the strongest male competitor alongside James.
* NiceGuy: John is really likeable and loveable. He is most definitely the nicest male houseguest of the season, and has never said anything problematic about anyone. He also does not resort to personally bashing any of his fellow houseguests (though he does state how he feels about some of them, like Vanessa), and has shown that he is a very genuine and down-to-earth guy.
* NoIndoorVoice: In the DR, John is seen to be rather loud. Some fans even say that he is yelling or shouting during his DR sessions. However, it is subverted in the house. John is the opposite of loud in the house or when he is out of the DR. In fact, he's TheQuietOne and very much a calm and introverted person who does not speak or talk all that much. He is also much quieter and talks way more normal while he is in the house.
* NoSocialSkills: Going by his personality, John is a big time introvert and he is rather quiet. He doesn't engage in much conversation with the other houseguests and he could even be considered as a loner. Some of the houseguests have commented on John saying that he is even somewhat socially awkward and doesn't seem to fit in. John himself has said he is an introvert and that engaging in conversations with people is rather draining for him. It could be argued that the weakest aspect of John's game is his social game due to his introverted personality.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: John plays the clueless and dumb strategy but he's a lot smarter than he lets others believe. He is also a big fan of Big Brother but has chosen to hide this fact from the other houseguests. John knows that houseguests that are open super fans end up being targeted and evicted earlier and easier.
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: The reason why he's a dentist.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: He's pretty much referred to by his fellow houseguests only as "Johnny Mac" by Week 3.
* ThePawn: John begrudgingly ended up this from Week 1, being asked to throw the Battle of the Block competitions to get the real target out of the house. By Week 3, it's obvious he's not too happy about being asked to risk his own game for the good of the [=HOHs=]. The funny thing is (as Lampshaded by him), some of the houseguests John's been put up alongside so far (namely Da'Vonne and James) have done poorly enough in certain Battle of the Block and Power of Veto comps that they unknowingly do the job of throwing them for him. Naturally, he was overjoyed when he wasn't put up as a pawn in Week 5, even wondering what he's going to do in the house since he doesn't have to do any comp throwing.
* SecretIdentity: Some of the houseguests wondered whether John even really was a dentist, because he doesn't give off the "dentist vibe".
* ShipTease: With Becky.
* ShorterMeansSmarter: While he's not that short, he's definitely considered one of the most intelligent houseguests especially by Vanessa, who's wanted him out since the beginning.

* ThirteenIsUnlucky: Austin was the 13th houseguest to be evicted. Before he was evicted, he was completely blindsided when he thought that he was staying in the game against Steve on the block. Unfortunately for him, the vote went to a tie after John voted to evict Austin and Liz voted to evict Steve. Vanessa was the tie breaker vote that ended up sending Austin out the door, completely blindsiding everyone especially Austin and Liz. In fact, Austin was so blindsided by his own eviction, that he forgot to wear shoes and walked out of the house on stage completely bare foot. The guy clearly didn't see his eviction coming at all. Was Austin seriously so delusional about trusting Vanessa or was he just completely oblivious to the fact that he was the number one target at the time?
* '''ZeroPercentApprovalRating''': Played Straight and '''how!''' Austin isis strongly disliked/hated/despised/loathed by a large portion of the Big Brother fans and audience along with Liz and Vanessa. The reason why he's so disliked is because he is incredibly cold-blooded and ruthless to a fault (while Liz and Vanessa are hot-blooded versions of ruthless, respectively), but his worst offense is being [[YourCheatingHeart a stone-cold cheater]] on his girlfriend back home. Not to mention that Austin has an extremely unlikeable personality. He's rude, controlling, misogynistic, overly emotional, and a bit aggressive and he very much has a belligerent personality when he doesn't get his way. It didn't help that Austin was completely unhygienic and nasty in regards to his personal hygiene and he was very much ThePigPen who didn't shower that much or didn't even wash his hands after he used the bathroom (Eww, GROSS!). Austin was also in cahoots with Vanessa, another houseguest who was extremely low on the popularity scale. Because of his unpopularity, he as frequently found at the bottom of all the Big Brother popularity polls and rankings such as Jokers Updates Ratings or Big Brother Daily Popularity Poll. It's the opposite of John, who has a HundredPercentAdorationRating, incredibly wacky, loyal to a fault, and is loved by the audience.
* '''AbhorrentAdmirer''': And how! He develops a borderline obsessive crush on Liz, despite that Liz is repulsed by Austin and only hasn't rejected him because she feels it would be bad for her game. Austin's only goal in the game by this point seems to be getting to the jury house so he can be with her, and this desire and his revelation of it [[UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom ultimately]] [[EpicFail undermined]] [[HoistByHisOwnPetard his]] [[NiceJobFixingItVillain alliance's]] [[TooDumbToLive entire]] [[BackstabBackfire game,]] in more ways that one. Eventually subverted, as Liz admits in a DR entry (seen in Episode 22) that Austin has begun to grow on her.
* AggressiveSubmissive: Austin is very persistant and determined when he wants to be with someone romantically, such as with his infatuation (more like obsession) with Liz for example, but is also a huge romantic. He even comes off as very cheesy in how he approaches love and romance.
* AllLoveIsUnrequited: Could be seen as averted as of later in the game when it comes to his romantic feelings for Liz. In the beginning, Liz openly admitted that she did have any sort of romantic attraction to Austin. Liz had said that she did not find Austin physically attractive or someone who was her “type”; she did note that she liked his personality and saw him as “just a friend”. It is later subverted when Liz eventually admits to liking Austin romantically. Whether Liz is telling the truth and she actually really does like him romantically or if she is lying and just using Austin for strategic reasons in the game is not identifiable or known. Liz even accepts Austin’s “proposal” to be his official girlfriend (even though he still technically has a girlfriend back home).
* ArchEnemy:
** John, although the rivalry is pretty much one sided. For whatever strange reason, Austin has had a personal vendetta against John. He has disliked him on a personal level for the majority of the game. One could assume that Austin strongly dislikes John because he is jealous of John’s likeability and popularity. He showed extreme bitterness when he had heard John receiving loud cheers and applause from the audience when he was evicted; making it obvious that John was the fan favorite. The fact that Austin was the guy who was responsible for John being evicted probably fueled his hatred and jealousy towards John. John doesn’t seem to be a huge fan of Austin either, but he still manages to be polite and cordial towards him as much as possible and has never trash talked Austin behind his back. Something that Austin clearly cannot do when it comes to John.
** Vanessa. She became an enemy for him later on in the game. Interestingly enough, Austin was one of Vanessa's allies and the two had even made a Final 2 deal. They had a lot of trust in one another and they also had a good friendship. Unfortunately for Austin, Vanessa called him out on his lying and not being truthful to her, which caused Austin to have a growing resentment towards Vanessa. Austin's distrust and dislike of Vanessa became stronger when he realized that she was the one who was responsible for Steve putting Austin and Liz on the block during Week 11. He finally realized that Vanessa was dishonest and did not have his back, so he turned on her and threw his loyalty behind Liz and Julia 100%. Austin's hatred towards Vanessa increased even more in Week 12, then Vanessa, who was the [=HOH=] that week, back doored Austin after John won the [=POV=]. To make matters worse, Vanessa was the tie-breaking vote that evicted him. Austin was completely angered at Vanessa for being responsible for his eviction and he even proclaimed that Vanessa will not win the game, because she is such a dirty player. When Vanessa was finally evicted at Final 3, he was very happy and elated to see that Vanessa did not make the Final 2.
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: Well, Austin is a wrestler for a living and he’s also arrogant, going by his personality. Judas, anyone?
* BadassBeard: Sports an obvious, interesting .....and noticeable one. It’s often called the “ponytail beard”.
* BadassBoast: Comes off as intimidating at times and has shown to be a bit arrogant and too much of a braggart. He thinks he runs the show, but he really doesn’t (that’s Vanessa by the way).
* BadassBookworm: Austin is highly educated and has a Masters degree in Literature. Also, he comes off as very intellectual and smart in conversations with others. Game wise, he’s also one of the smartest players in the game overall.
* BaitTheDog: Austin appeared to be a pre-season favorite for many of the fans. Turns out, their first impression of him was so wrong, as he turned out to be a very intolerable person. He’s so disliked that he is one of the least popular houseguests of the season (along with Liz and Vanessa). Almost on Frankie Grande levels of unlikeability.
* BarbarianLonghair: Austin’s hair is...interesting. His hair is very unruly and wild. Austin tries to straighten his hair so it can have a flatter and smoother appearance. Unfortunately for him, his hair still looks a mess, even after the straightening. Some fans even comment that Austin looks dirty and unhygenic because of his hair.
* BashBrothers: Quickly develops a bond with Jace after they first meet. Also with Steve and John to some extent, though John was more strategy.
* BeardOfBarbarism: Along with having a BadassBeard and a BeardOfEvil, his beard definitely gives him a very unkempt and unruly appearance. It seems to match his personality which is often aggressive and belligerent.
* BeardOfEvil: Austin was TheDragon for Vanessa and he was closely aligned with her and working for her for the majority of the game. Which means that he was working for the bad side of the house. He's also a JerkJock who had a very nasty, mean and aggressive personality which made him rather unlikeable so his barbaric beard is very fitting of his personality type.
* BigBad: Although Vanessa has been the major antagonist, Austin is the constant threat.
* BigBrotherBully: Downplayed. Austin does have a big brother type relationship with Steve, but sometimes when he gets irritated with him, he becomes a bit of a bully towards him. He has frequently referred to Steve as "the boy" instead of his actual name indicating that Austin sees himself as superior to Steven and that he has more power than him. For example, the week that Steve won HOH and nominated both Austin and Liz, Austin was visibly angry with him and during his DR session, he referred to Steve as "the boy" and then went on to say that Steve should be scared of him because his mommy isn't there to protect him from his wrath.
* BigBrotherInstinct: Has this towards Steve in spades. He has displayed protective behaviour towards Steve and looks out for him. Also showed it towards Jace as well.
* TheBigGuy: Austin is the tallest male houseguest of the season. He is 6'5".
* BoisterousBruiser: He’s somewhat cocky, arrogant and a little bit on thre brash side at times. Comes with being a wrestler.
* BruiserWithASoftCenter: Austin is a big guy who works as a pro wrestler, but he is also a hardcore romantic.
* TheBrute: Austin is TheBigGuy as he's the tallest male of the season. He's also TheDragon to Vanessa.
* CallBack: Made a variation of [[Characters/BigBrother12 Rachel Reilly]]'s catchphrase as part of his goodbye video to Jeff.
* CasanovaWannabe: Tries to pretend that he is Liz’s KnightInShiningArmour and a romantic, but he really just comes off as an obsessive creep. Caleb anyone?
* TheChampion: For Liz, of course. Austin even foolishly stated that he didn’t care about winning the game and that he only cared about his romance with Liz. Austin went so far as to tell Vanessa that he just wanted to make it to jury with Liz; he didn’t care whether or not he won the money.
* CloudCuckoolander: Not as much as John, but he has made some... questionable game decisions, a few being smart (like voting for John instead of Audrey to confuse the house) but most of his game actions are downright ''weird'' like telling Jason (the biggest gossip in the house) that not only does he have a crush on Liz, but also that Liz's twin is named Julia. That, plus the fact that he said that he would target Julia once she entered the game so he and Liz make it as far as the jury house to be with her if both should be evicted, led Vanessa to briefly target him for eviction in Week 5 before ultimately choosing to blindside Jason instead when Austin pleaded to stay. This move revealed the divisions in the house, and although the Sixth Sense remained intact for that week, Austin's loose lips made it a hollow victory when James, who was allied with Jason, won the next [=HoH=], which was the first solo [=HoH=] of the game (meaning no chance of getting dethroned), and nominated Clay and Shelli, who had convinced Vanessa to keep Austin, leading Sixth Sense to lose Clay instead of Austin the next week and then Shelli the week after. Austin's speech at the eviction nomination ceremony, when he becomes [=HOH=] for the first time in Week 9, manages to confuse some of the houseguests:

All of them worked for Vanessa and they could be seen as being Vanessa's minions in the game as they practically did everything for Vanessa. Each of them had strengths in the game that would benefit Vanessa: Austin was good at the social aspect and strategy, Julia and Clay were good socially, Shelli and Steve were good at winning competitions and strategy, and Liz was good at winning competitions. Most of them, especially Austin, eventually turned on Vanessa and lost trust with her. It should be noted that Austin, along with Shelli, had been aligned with Vanessa the longest and had the strongest loyalty to her.
* ControlFreak: Has a very controlling and aggressive personality, especially when it comes to Liz and his relationship with her.
* CrazyJealousGuy: Austin has shown that he is a strongly jealous person. Any guy who so much as flirts with Liz or looks at her will suffer Austin’s wrath. Jeff flirting with Liz was an example; Austin didn’t take it to well and advocated for Jeff to leave the house.
* CreepyMonotone: Austin's voice is ''incredibly'' stiff and cold, making him sound unfeeling.
* DeadpanSnarker: Can be very sarcastic and snarky. Especially when he is irritated or upset. He doesn’t have the humour and wit that John, James and Jason possess though.
* DelusionsOfGrandeur: Austin seriously believes that he is loved by the audience and the viewers. He thinks that the fans love him and would stop watching if he ever shall be evicted. What he doesn’t realize is that he is one of the least liked, if not the most hated, houseguests of the season. His delusional, arrogant personality rivals that of Frankie Grande (Big Brother 16), Caleb Reynolds (Big Brother 16) and Jessie Godderz (Big Brother 10[=/=]Big Brother 11).
* DemotedToDragon: It was thought that Austin would be the main BigBad of the season, but in reality, he was being controlled and manipulated by Vanessa for the majority of the game.
* DesperatelyCravesAffection: How about “Desperately Craves Liz Nolan’s Affection”? Austin has shown obsessive and even stalkerish tendencies towards Liz, even though in the beginning, she clearly was not into him romantically.

Vanessa admitted earlier n that she let trust in Austin because he had lied to her and during that time, she was contemplating back dooring and evicting Austin. However, she backed out f it after talking t Austin and she instead back doored Jason. However, during Week 12, Vanessa backdoors Austin after John wins the Power of Veto. On top of it, she evicts him by her own hand when the vote goes to a tie. Austin is very shocked and angry at Vanessa, even proclaiming to her face that she will not win the game because of what she has done. Vanessa had evicted Austin because she felt that he was disloyal to her, had lied to her too many times and was a huge threat to her in terms of getting to the end.
* DoesNotLikeShoes: Deconstructed. He seems indifferent to shoes, and because of that, Austin famously left the ''Big Brother'' house while barefooted when Vanessa went and blindsided him, because he was so sure he would not be leaving that night that he didn't bother to put them on. And he showed up to the Jury House ''still'' barefoot (probably playing it up for the cameras), proclaiming that "barefoot or not", he was still Judas, and "Judas got Judas'd." However, their relationship started to deteriorate and the two eventually lost a lot of trust in each other.
* DragonWithAnAgenda: There have been numerous cases where Austin has wanted to backstab or turn on Vanessa in the game. Austin had way more loyalty to Julia and Liz than he did to Vanessa in the long run because it turns out that Austin was never going to take Vanessa to the Final 2 as they had originally planned at the beginning of the game. It was apparent that Vanessa had planned to take his girlfriend Liz to the Final 2.

Austin is TheDragon to Vanessa, who is the actual BigBad as Vanessa is the one who is controlling the game and Austin is merely a minion or follower of Vanessa. The major reason why Austin and John are enemies is mostly personal but it is also game related as well. Austin strongly dislikes John because he is jealous of John's popularity outside of the house. It was his major motivation for having John nominated and evicted. Vanessa, on the other hand, wanted John out because she felt that John was a big threat to her game and the two also did like get along well on a personal level due to their different game strategies. Interestingy enough, much of Austin and John's rivalry in the game was one sided, as it was Austin would felt an IrrationalHatred towards John before John even saw Austin as trouble. John later saw Austin as an enemy after he nominated him and his ally Steve next to each other and then had him evicted.
* InTouchWithHisFeminineSide: Austin may look tough and intimidating, but in a way, he is this. Some of his favorite activities include gymnastics, cheerleading, yoga and pilates. He even has his nails painted in some episodes.
* {{Jerkass}}: Austin isn definitely not the nicest and most pleasant person. He can be very mean, aggressive and very much TheBully when he doesn't get his way. He's also pretty belligerent when he's irritated, angry or annoyed as well. He's not called Judas for nothing.
* JerkJock: Austin is athletic as he's a wrestler but he has an incredibly unpleasant personality. He is definitely very much TheBully and he mistreats the other houseguests when he doesn't get his way. He's also incredibly controlling towards Liz and he uses his athleticism to intimidate others.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Yeah he and the twins are big gossips and occasionally talk trash about other houseguests particularly John (and Steve in the begining with Jace) and he can be brash and arrogant, but he genuinely loves his alliance, feels hurt when he's lied to, and loves Liz enough to be willing to break up with his girlfriend even going as far as to keep Julia even though it was against his plan. He even made up with Steve despite Steve very clearly wanting both Liz and him out.
* LooksLikeJesus: Described as this by Julia in Week 10... although there aren't many depictions of the Holy Ghost with multiple tattoos.
* LoveMakesYouDumb: Decides to [[HorribleJudgeOfCharacter reveal to Jason]] that his endgame is to get Julia out of the House, so that he can be with Liz. It didn't take long for Jason to reveal this to members of Austin's alliance, which enraged them and prompted a plan to backdoor Austin. Vanessa bailed out of this plan at the Veto meeting, however, and backdoored Jason, whose loose lips got him evicted instead, while Austin barely survived the week. The backdooring of Jason exposed Austin's alliance however, which lost a member anyway when someone against the Sixth Sense, James, won [=HoH=] and nominated Clay and Shelli, who had masterminded the alternate eviction plan. Clay was evicted as a result, reducing the Sixth Sense down to five and then four members when Shelli also bit the dust; they subsequently became the Scamper Squad after rebounding on Double Eviction night.
* LoveTriangle: By Week 3, Austin had developed feelings for Liz. He got jealous after seeing Liz with Jeff in bed... no, not in that way... flirting with each other.
* NiceHat: Often seen wearing a hat of some kind, including a top hat of all things.

* '''SoreLoser''': Did NOT take his unexpected blindside and eviction very well. Especially with Vanessa casting the tibreaking and deciding vote to send him out the door. Austin was so bitter that he said to Vanessa on the way out that she wasn't going to get any votes in jury because of how much she has blindsided and backstabbed people. In his Exit Interview with Julie Chen, he stated that he harbours bitter feelings towards Vanessa because she was someone that he had always had a significant amount of trust in and she completely shattered it by blindsiding him and backstabbing him.
* StalkerWithACrush: From the very start, Austin was very obsessive towards Liz, even without knowing that much about her. Liz found Austin and his behavior towards her very creepy and strange. She even stated that she didn't like Austin at first because he came across as a weird stalker.

Many of the fans are constantly questioning Liz and Austin's relationship and how Liz could even think of being interested in Austin on a romantic level. Other fans are downright repulsed when Liz and Austin even kiss one another because they seem to be so mismatched. Interestingly, Liz was not romantically interested in Austin and she only saw Austin as a friend. However, she later stated in a DR session that although Austin is not physically her type and she is not physically attracted to him, she says that she loves his personality.

In addition, Julia also shows that she is older than Liz through her being more logical and wise than Liz. * ButtMonkey: Was on the receiving end of a relatively nasty zing by Zingbot, saying how she's hideous and stupid. In a DR, Julia retorts about the remark about her intelligence by stating that she had the same score on her [=SATs=] as Liz. What score they got, she never said, but given that Liz and Julia are in marketing, they're not that stupid.
* CoDragons: With Austin, Liz, Shelli, Clay, and Steve for Vanessa. Julia doesn’t really provide much in the way of strategy or gameplay, but she has remained rather loyal to Vanessa and has never turned on her as of yet.
* CoolBigSis: To Liz, even though she is only a few minutes older than her. Although a catty mean girl, she is much more wise and calm than Liz, who is very emotional and HotBlooded. She often calms Liz down and serves as a mentor to her and someone who is willing to give her advice whenever she needs it. She's also fiercely overprotective of Liz and will do anything to make sure that she's happy.
* DeadpanSnarker: Like her sister, she is very cutting and sarcastic. Especially when she is annoyed or angered. Even when she is trying to be funny or say something humourous, she comes off as serious.
* DevourTheDragon: Julia was nominated by Steve during Week 11, when Austin has won the Power of Veto and Julia became the replacement nominee in Austin’s spot. At first, it seemed that Vanessa has wanted Julia to stay in the game, as she was a viable Final 2 option for Vanessa, but it turns out that Vanessa has decided to keep Liz over Julia and Vanessa plans on voting Julia out, because it is what both of the twins had wanted and decided together.
* TheDitz: During a conversation with Steve in Week 10, she didn't know who Sigmund Freud was when Steve mentioned that his relationship with his mom is not Freudian, referring to him "Sigmund and Freud". Other than the fact they thought Freud was two people, this wouldn't be so bad except for the fact that both her and her sister thought "Sigmund and Freud" were "the two lion guys who got bit", confusing them with ''Siegfried and Roy!''
* TheDragon: To Vanessa, the BigBad, for pretty much the entire game. Julia has shown to be rather loyal to Vanessa and she pretty much does everything that Vanessa says. She is also naive and gullible, believing and buying into everything Vanessa says.
* DragonWithAnAgenda: Although Julia has been loyal to Vanessa for the majority of the game, as of Week 11, Julia has finally been onto Vanessa and her game. She realizes that Vanessa is PlayingBothSides of the house, and that she is hugely manipulative. Julia has said to Austin and Liz that if and when she is voted out, she plans to blow up Vanessa and her game to everyone in the house. Interestingly enough, what Julia is completely unaware of is that John and Steve (the people she plans on exposing Vanessa to) are already onto Vanessa and her tactics and have been for quite some time.
* DumbBlonde: Like her sister Liz, doesn’t seem to have too much going on in the name of intelligence. Julia believed that white rice was made of flour! In her defense, Julia is more logical than Liz and definitely less emotional and impulsive than Liz. So, she comes off much wiser than Liz overall.
* EverybodyKnewAlready: By the time Julia entered the game as an individual player, all of the Houseguests were fully aware of the Twin Twist.
* EvilCounterpart: Could be considered this to Meg. Liz could also be considered as this to Meg as well. Both Julia and Meg are very useless in the game, being TheLoad. Both Julia and Meg are the DumbBlonde and TheDitz, not being very smart or intelligent. Julia leans more towards being an evil blonde wwhile Meg is more of a HairOfGold. Julia is a BetaBitch, while Meg is the NiceGirl. Meg is popular with the audience, Julia is unpopular with the audience.
* EvilFeelsGood: Downplayed. She's not as mean and petty as her younger twin sister, but she does seem to get a high off of trash talking the other houseguests. She can also act pretty mean and she doesn't seem to feel bad about it either. But despite this, Julia still is no where near the mean girl that Liz is and she does sometimes call out Liz for taking her petty behavior way too far.
* EvilIsPetty: Talks just as much trash as her younger sister Liz but she is not as bad as her. She has made so many nasty comments about the other houseguests. She has called James all kinds of names such as "Napoleon" and little man (because James is short) and has called Meg's personality a typical New York personality because she has a stink ass attitude. She has also stated that she thinks that John has NoSocialSkills and that he is nothing but an awkward individual. She even comments about John's physical appearance (calling him a turtle and saying that he looks like a skeleton with a hairy back) and how he contributes nothing to the game (which is ironic considering Julia is TheLoad and has won't won anything all season except a measley POV during Double Eviction). She has made harsh comments about Austin and has called him an ugly person who only wants fame and attention. What is ironic is that Julia constantly hates when people talk trash about her and her sister yet she has zero issue with doing it herself and talking crap about everyone else. She also has a strong IrrationalHatred of Meg and has constantly made it her mission to trash her. Julia, along with her sister, is just a nasty and mean girl. It is not a surprise to discover that she is one of the most disliked houseguests of the season. She may be nicer than her sister, but not by much.
* GirlyGirl: Just as feminine and girly as her sister. However, unlike Liz, Julia is not a GirlyBruiser, as she is not as strong as a competitor as Liz. Julia does seem to have more edge to her than Liz in terms of style though.
* GossipyHens: Julia is one of the biggest gossipers in the house. She is just as guilty of trash talking as her sister Julia. There is not one houseguest that has been immune to Julia’s trash talking.
* GracefulLoser: Julia took her eviction extremely well. In fact, she had wanted to be the one evicted since she was up against her sister Liz on the block. Julia was very accepting of leaving the game because she felt that Liz had a much stronger and higher chance of making it to the end and winning than she did.
* IllGirl: When Julia was 6 years old, Julia was diagonosed with leukemia. She thankfully overcame the illness. Julia has even commeneted that if she were to win in the end, she would use some of the money to donate to a charity for leukemia.
* TheLoad: Is completely and utterly useless when it comes to competitions. She’s also shown to be useless when it comes to strategy as well. Hell, to put it bluntly, Julia is just plain useless period. She’s just as useless and clueless as Meg.
* MiddleChildSyndrome: Played Straight. Julia is the middle child in her family as she has an older sister named Angela and a younger twin sister in Liz. Julia, and even Liz, has commented on the live feeds that Julia always got the short end of the stick in life. According to a letter from home that Liz received during her HOH, her mother even lampshades that Liz was her favorite child and that she had a favoritism towards Liz over Julia. In addition to that, she was also the IllGirl of the family as she battled Leukaemia when she was just a child. She managed to overcome it, but it showed that she definitely had some bad luck as the middle child.
* MsFanservice: Is this at times, as is the case of Liz. One key example, like her sister did from the beginning of the season in the original version of the sequence, Julia is shown wearing a bikini in the update to the season's intro sequence following her entry into the game. Not to mention to the periodic bikini shots.
* MySisterIsOffLimits: Hates the idea of Austin and Liz having a showmance, because she considers Austin unattractive.
* MythologyGag: Julia and Liz are masquerade as one player like [[Characters/BigBrother5 Adria and Natalie]] did.
* NobleTopEnforcer: Let's face it, Julia is much nicer than Vanessa overall. She is even nicer than her sister Liz in personality. Although Julia is a classic mean girl because she engages in the majority of the trash talking of other houseguests, she is still not as vile and mean spirited as Vanessa. Vanessa comes off very aggressive in her behaviour towards others, while Julia is generally more quiet and laid back. Julia is also this way in comparison to Liz, who is a bigger mean girl than her. Often when Vanessa and Liz start talking down about other houseguests to Julia, Julia normally isn't the one that is instigating it. Out of the trio of herself, Vanessa, and Liz, Julia is definitely the nicer one.
* PickedLast: Julia eventually becomes a little disgruntled that she has never been picked to participate in a veto competition, even when ''her own twin sister'' is [=HOH=] in Week 8. Julia finally gets picked to be in a veto comp in Week 9.
* PolarOppositeTwins: Liz is noted as being more friendly and outgoing in comparison to Julia, who has a bit more aloof personality. For some of the houseguests, this was one of the giveaways that added to the suspicion that Liz was a twin.
* RunningGag: Targeted by James for his pranks all the time.
* SiblingTeam: With Liz. While they've been part of an alliance since Week 2, the main objective of the two is to survive the game to the final three.
* SixthRanger: Invoked though in the name of the alliance that both twins are part of, the Sixth Sense, acknowledging that Julia would become a full-time member (and therefore an extra vote on their side) once she formally joined the game. Also invoked in her addition to the title sequence alongside Liz beginning in Week 6, even though Julia had been playing in the game from the get-go.
* SpannerInTheWorks[=/=][[HoistByTheirOwnPetard Hoist by Her Own Petard]]: After Austin and Liz were nominated for eviction by Steve in Week 10, they and Julia came up with a plan to throw the POV competition to the latter, so she could try and win the Power of Veto. However, the plan blew up in their faces when Vanessa decided to make a gameplay move by feeding a lie to Julia that Austin would target her next if she didn't win the Power of Veto and convinced Julia to pick Austin as the houseguest she'd go up against in the second round of the bowling comp, when the planned called for her to choose John to compete against first. Austin, confused by what was going on, beat Julia and then took on John in the final round, winning the POV against him. By failing to remember that Vanessa was responsible for trying to get out Austin in Week 5, has been instrumental in helping them carry out other evictions later on and that the lie could have been a bluff as Vanessa is a huge strategical player, Julia's decision derailed any chance of the twins both making it at least into the Final 5 together, since she ended up the replacement nominee once Austin chose to take himself off the block and wound up being evicted in a 3-0 vote (although it was mutually decided before the eviction that Julia would be the SacrificialLamb).
* ThirdWheel: Julia starts to become this to Liz and Austin by Week 7, when the latter two become closer romantically. It's obvious that Julia isn't a big fan of Austin, as the case was with her sister earlier in the game, even expressing sour grapes when Liz chooses Austin over her when drawing names in the Week 8 POV competition.
* TwinSwitch: Does this with Liz as part of the Twin Twist.
* VerbalTic: She has a habit of dragging out words and ending them with an "uh" when annoyed or aggravated (in other words, she talks like thiiiiis-uh!). Liz has a similar mode of speech, with both girls speaking in something similar to a ValleyGirl accent (despite being from Florida).
* WhatDoesSheSeeInHim?: Julia has wondered this about Liz and Austin's developing relationship. After Austin gives Liz a noticeable, but minor hickey in Week 8, much to the chagrin of Julia, questions whether Austin is the kind of guy her sister should be having a showmance with.

During the BB Comic Book [=POV=] competition, Meg's hometown is lampshaded when her superhero name was "The Big Apple".
* CelebrityResemblance: James states that Meg physically resembles Music/TaylorSwift. Much of the physical resemblance between the two stems from Meg being blonde, pretty and on the taller side. Meg's physical resemblance to Taylor is also a major reason as to why James had a mega crush on her since according to James, Taylor Swift is his celebrity crush (she fits all of James' ideal woman requirements, which is blonde, beautiful and tall).
* TheChick: Of the entire season. She could be seen as the opposite of Liz and Vanessa, who are TheDarkChick's. Meg was not a big gamer like other houseguests but she did serve as the peacemaker to her alliance. Meg seemed like she was there to socialize, make friends and flirt with the male houseguests. She had also voiced her feelings about not contributing enough to the alliance.
* TheChosenOne: When he chooses her for his "Houseguest's Choice" pick for the Week 8 POV competition, Meg notes that Johnny Mac always ends up drawing her name to participate in veto comps.
* ContraltoOfDanger: Downplayed. Meg has an usually deep pitched voice, which contrasts with her gleeful image. But she is far from a competitive powerhouse.

* DoesNotLikeShoes: Although Meg [[AllWomenLoveShoes is a huge fan of designer shoes]], when she's in the house, Meg is nearly always barefoot. Justified, in that Meg is a sufferer of psoriatic arthritis and using shoes puts a strain on her joints, so Meg actually needs to stay barefoot whenever possible. It also lets her show off a tattoo on her right foot that says "Always yes" in cursive.
** AgonyOfTheFeet: During Kronk's takeover of the house, Meg regretted this when she was part of a conga line and was dancing across the coarse backyard grass in her bare feet, yelping in pain and not knowing if she could take it anymore.
* DumbBlonde: Meg is definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed. She doesn’t have any strategic prowess and she doesn’t have any understanding of the game as a whole. She has depend on her allies, such as Becky, Jason and Jackie for example, to help her in the game, especially when it comes to strategy. She seems to be a big time airhead, even though she is very cute and likeable.
* FagHag: In RealLife, Meg said she lives with her "gusband" (gay husband). She was also close friends with Jason. It is argued that other than James, Jason was her closest friend in the house. She seems to have a strong affinity with gay men. Despite her affinity with gay men, she does not fit the physical descriptions of this trope as she is physically attractive and she is also in shape.

On the flip side, Liz is more of an ActionGirl and is extremely competitive when it comes to competitions, while Meg is more of TheLoad, who has proven she is very useless competitively.
* IllGirl: Post-season, Meg revealed that she was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis in the sixth grade and chose not to let anyone know this during the game because it would put her at a disadvantage. It's part of the reason why she has a lot of trouble during physical challenges.
* InSeriesNickname: As illustrated in Episode 30 (Week 10), Meg is sometimes called "Grandma Meg" by some of the houseguests, because she sometimes gets confused, a little cranky and has other personality traits similar to that of a senior citizen, despite being ''25 years old''.
* TheLoad: Meg was one of the weakest and most useless female players of the season. She managed to not win one single competition and overall, she seemed to be very weak on a competitive level. It did not help that Meg was very clueless about what was going in the house. She needed some of her other allies, such as Jackie and Jason, to help her in the strategic department. There were times when Meg even came off as a liability to her alliance (James, Jackie, Jason, Da'Vonne) because she could not win any competitions to keep herself and her allies safe and she did not contribute anything in terms of game intelligence or strategy. It seems that the only thing that Meg really contributed to the game was her ability to flirt with different male houseguests, namely James and Clay. She's also TrueCompanions with Johnny, Jason, and James, and has a decent social game with them.
* [[NiceGuy Nice Girl]]: With her laid-back and adorkable personality, Meg is well-liked among the other houseguests, several of whom have admitted they have nothing bad to say about her.

One of the major reasons why Josh was attracted to her in the first place was because she was a tall girl and he's always been attracted to tall girls.
* BodyHorror: Becky describing all of the injuries she got after being hit in the face by the front of a train the year prior during a pre-sunrise run.[[note]]In detail, she suffered a broken wrist and injured her leg and foot after being knocked backward 15 feet, lost two teeth (one of which pierced her upper lip; her bottom lip also had to be sewn back on), had her nose crushed and her skull fractured. The after-effects of the now-healed injuries are somewhat noticeable as the structure of the right side of Becky's face is asymmetrical in comparison to her left side.[[/note]] It makes it that much more impressive that she made a full recovery without any plastic surgery.

* GoodIsNotNice: Becky is a NiceGirl for the majority of the time....but she does have a very petty side especially when she's wronged or betrayed. She won't hesitate to call out someone if they are doing something wrong. She's done this with Vanessa of all people.
* GoodIsNotSoft: A NiceGirl who is very loyal, caring and understanding, but she won't always be kind, sympathetic or compassionate to her enemies. Vanessa was someone that Becky didn't have much respect for in the game because she didn't like the way that she acted or conducted herself in the game. Becky also didn't like Vanessa's dirty gameplay and she has admitted to Vanessa herself that she didn't like nor trust her because of how shady and untrustworthy she had been the whole time.
* GranolaGirl: Becky said this rubbed off of her from her family. Affirmed with the basket given to her when she became HOH in Week 7, which included mostly healthy food (such as lettuce, kale and brussels sprouts).
* HasAType: Becky said that the type of men that she finds herself attracted to are extremely tall and athletic types. She has also stated that she is attracted to Black men and basketball players in particular. Poor John doesn't fit any of the above criteria.
* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor: Becky had such changeable loyalties in the game that it was hard to really tell who she was really loyal to in the game. She was clearly PlayingBothSides of the house and she couldn't stick to one side. Becky would pretend that she is with Vanessa's side of the house and then end up going over to John and then jumping over to James, Meg and Jackie's side of the house. The latter figured out what she was doing and that she was disloyal because she was ratting out information from their side and leaking it to the other side (Vanessa's side).
* MadeOfIron: She was hit in the face ''by a train'' and ''survived''. She was grievously injured, but made a full recovery without even needing plastic surgery. Liz even referred to Becky as being "Superwoman".
* NiceGirl: OH SO MUCH. Even though she does have a very tough, petty side at times especially towards those she doesn't like, she is one of the most genuinely nice and kind people on the season.
* OutOfFocus: Did anyone even know that Becky was on the show? Or that she was even a houseguest playing the game on this season? Considering that the majority of the live shows centred on Vanessa, John, James or the rest of the Sixth Sense alliance, it makes sense why Becky wasn't so memorable and didn't get much screen time or attention from either production or the fans. The only time that Becky was noticed by the fans or given attention from the show was when she won HOH and she backdoored the strongest player in the game Vanessa.
* PlatonicLifePartners: With John. Although John has openly admitted to having a crush on Becky, Becky only sees John as a friend. The two have shown to have a close bond and friendship and are in a secret alliance together since the beginning.
* PlayingBothSides: As Shelli points out in her DR entry after Becky wins HOH in Week 7, since she's one of only three unaligned houseguests (along with John and Steve), Becky has been swayed between the Sixth Sense and the After Dark Crew when a member of either alliance have been in power. * ActionFashionista: Averted. Jackie likes clothing, fashion, shoes, and makeup and she is a bit of an ActionGirl. She is not the most competitive person in the house but she has shown that she does have a very athletic side. She also makes it a habit of looking as good as possible while she is doing athletic and active things. Jackie takes pride in her appearance no matter what she is doing.
* ActionSurvivor: Jackie was not an overly competitive person and she did not win a lot of competitions, but she was actually a very smart person. She seemed to rely more on strategy and intelligence to get ahead in the game. Jackie was not TheLoad like Meg (who was considered to be weak on both a competitive level and a strategic level) and she was not an ActionHero like James (who was very strong competitively and won a lot of competitions).
* {{Adorkable}}: Jackie is very likeable, loveable and endearing that you cannot help but root for her. Her interactions with Jason, James, and Meg make her someone who is very east to root for. Jackie is also quite spunky and sassy and she is a bit of a firecracker, especially when competitive, frustrated or angered.
* AllWomenLoveShoes: Jackie seems to have a preference for high heel shoes and stilettos. It seems at every live eviction, she is seen wearing them. It is understandable why Jackie seems to have a high heel shoe obsession since she loves fashion and dressing up.
* AloofDarkHairedGirl: Sometimes comes across as this. Although Jackie comes off as friendly most of the time, she can also come off as TheStoic, someone who appears very calm and collected. In most intsnaces, Jackie has been very rational, calm, aloof and she comes across as the OnlySaneWoman in her alliance. She is also the most strategic and logical from a game standpoint. However, there are cases where Jackie can let her emotions show and when she does, she can be very sassy and feisty.
* AscendedExtra: Although she was featured on ''The Amazing Race'', she is not all that featured on this season. Jackie was rarely given attention and screen time when the show would air. Many fans felt that Jackie came off as an after thought and she did not seem to be a character or personality that stood out to the fans and to the audience. The only time when it felt that Jackie got any kind of prevalent attention or screen time was when she was nominated (such as during the Double Eviction when she was evicted). Some fans have even gone as far as to say "Who's Jackie?"
* BadassAdorable: Jackie is very cute and adorable because she is one of the smaller female houseguests of the season, but she can also be very feisty, sassy and competitive. She is not the strongest female competitor of the season, but she is not completely useless in the competitions. Jackie's expertise in the game though is strategy and social game. If Jackie had made it farther in the game, it is assumed that she would eventually become a huge threat and would have been a force to be reckoned with.
* BareYourMidriff: As expected, Jackie wears a lot of revealing clothing (she is a professional dancer after all). So, it is not surprising that she is seen wearing alot of tops that often bare her stomach. Jackie is also seen wearing just a sports bra. The combination of her showing her assets (her breasts) and her stomach definitely solidify her in MsFanservice territory.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Jackie is a NiceGirl for the most part, but do not cross her, piss her off or hurt the ones that she cares about. She will come for you. A particular example is when Vanessa backdoored her close ally Jason. After that, Jackie had made it her mission to target Vanessa and fueled her desire to get revenge by getting her out of the house. Jackie has also made it known that she is not a fan of Vanessa on a personal or game level. All in all, Jackie is friendly, but if you cross her or those she cares about, it's a wrap and you are on her radar.
* BuxomIsBetter[=/=]BigBreastPride: Jacklyn has very large breasts and she seems to take great pride in her assets. She likes to accentuate them through revealing clothing, in particular, revealing tops and dresses. It is uncertain if Jackie's breasts are real or fake, although many fans are of the assumption that they are implants. She also likes to use her assets when she flirts with the male houseguests. Definitely qualifies her as a MsFanservice.

* TheCutie: Jackie is petite, loveable and endearing. She is easy to like and root for because of her likeable personality. However, despite her generally swet and friendly nature, she is no pushover and she does have a bit of a spunky and sassy side to her. Her relationships with Meg, James and Jason endeared alot of fans to her and many of the viewers, particularly the live feeders, were rooting for her to win.
* FagHag: One of her close friendships and allies in the game is Jason. It was a tossup between Meg and Jackie regarding who was closer to Jason. Jackie did not take it well when Jason was evicted and wanted to avenge his eviction by going after Vanessa. Although Jackie has an affinity with gay men, she does not seem to fit the trope physically as she is physically attractive and appealing.
* GenkiGirl: She is a cross between this and an AloofDarkHairedGirl. Although she appears to be very aloof and stoic on occassion, she is actually a very upbeat and optimistic person, especially when she is happy or excited about something. Jackie also comes across as a very energetic and spirited girl, but it is understandable why she would be this way since she is a professional dancer. She seems like a very fun loving girl who likes to have a good time and this was seen in her realtionships with James, Meg and Jason.
* GirlyGirl: Jackie is a very feminine individual. She showcases this through the clothing that she wears and her fashion sense. She has a love for wearing fancy and designer clothing (especially dresses), high heel shoes, and makeup. She is definitely the most girly and feminine of this group of female houseguests, especially in comparison to more of the tomboyish, aggressive or GirlNextDoor women in the house such as Vanessa, Becky,and Da'Vonne, and even Audrey. The other female houseguests that match her girliness are Liz, Julia, Shelli and Meg, although even Shelli has more of a GirlNextDoor persona than Jackie does.
* GracefulLoser: Although she and her ally Meg were absolutely blindsided during the Double Eviction when Steve won HOH and nominated the two of them for eviction, which resulted in her eviction, Jackie managed to take her eviction very well. She even stated that the reason why she ended up going home was because there was a misunderstanding on Steve's behalf. Steve had felt that Jackie was coming after him, but in actual fact, she was wanting to come after Austin and Vanessa. Jackie was very accepting of this and even voted for Steve to win the game at the end, even though he was the one who was responsible for her eviction.

When Meg and Jackie were on the block together during the Double Eviction, one could tell how much they loved each other and valued each other as friends. * JustFriends: Jeff said this about their relationship. It was always assumed that there was UnresolvedSexualTension between them, but he had set the record straight and stated that they were just friends and had a platonic relationship. It is unknown if Jackie also saw their relationship the same way or if there were any unresolved feelings for Jeff on her behalf.

* OutOfFocus: Isn't given much screen time early on. Britney Haynes even stated that the first time she saw Jackie was when Jackie won the Week 5 HOH. SubvertedTrope, as the eviction of Jason and the ascent of the After Dark Crew and their satellite allies into power puts her more on the canvas.
* PoorCommunicationKills: Jackie's eviction in the Week 7 Double Eviction episode was highly surprising given that one would have expected Steve to put Jackie and Meg up on the block merely as pawns and backdoor Becky, given his dislike of her. However, Steve (who has worried about other houseguests seeing him as a target) decided to target her because he was under the belief that she was targeting him thanks to a rumor spilled to him by one of the houseguests. She insisted the rumor was false, but to no avail. In reality, Steve wasn't even on her radar, and Jackie actually wanted to target Austin.
* SpicyLatina: Jackie is Latina and she can also be very sassy and spunky. Even though Jackie is calm most of the time, she did show cases of being HotBlooded when she would get upset or angry. On top of it, Jackie is a MsFanservice, who wears a lot of [[FormFittingWardrobe scantily clad clothing]] and has a lot of sex appeal. Even though Jackie can appear calm and demure, she is actually much tougher than she appears and she is not to be underestimated.

* ActionGirl: Shelli has proven to be a strong competitor and has won two HOH's. She has also been shown to be strong in endurance competitions. Not only is Shelli strong competitively, but she is also strong socially and strategically. She is the only female player that truly rivals Vanessa when it comes to the social, competitive and strategic aspects of the game. Shelli's strengths in all three aspects was what made Shelli such a huge threat in the game and why the other side of the house (James, Becky, Jackie, Meg) wanted her out.
* AlphaBitch: Mostly because Shelli comes off as a very strong female player along with Vanessa. She is very strategic and tough as nails. When she has a target in mind, she sets her sights on it and she shows no mercy. Shelli can also be very manipulative and cunning and she is a huge schemer. Shelli could also be considered a BitchInSheepsClothing because she can appear friendly, cordial and nice but can also be very petty and mean on occasion.
* ArchEnemy: James. It is understandable why Shelli was gunning hard for James since he was the one who was responsible for breaking a deal that they made, nominating them together on the block which resulted in Clay being evicted. In Week 6, Shelli said during a DR session that James is her ultimate target because of what he had done by evicting Clay and breaking their deal. Shelli stated that James is untrustworthy because he has proven that he is not a man of his word. James also feels the same way about Shelli in that he has stated that she is the biggest threat to his game and to the games of his allies. James also has a dislike of Shelli because she was one of the major reasons why many of his allies (including Jeff, Audrey, Da'Vonne and Jason) were all evicted back to back during the course of the first four weeks of the game.
* BareYourMidriff: Like many of the other female houseguests such as Meg, Becky, Liz, Julia and Jackie, Shelli has been seen to wear tops which reveal her stomach or her midriff. Similar to the other women in the house, this qualifies her as a MsFanservice.
* BeautyIsBad: Shelli is a very physically beautiful woman who is highly appealing as a MsFanservice. But she was working for Vanessa, who was the main villain. Plus, although Shelli often appeared to be the NiceGirl who was the classic SouthernBelle that was friendly and approachable, underneath, she could very much qualify as someone who's a BitchInSheepsClothing as she's not as sweet and nice as she appears to be. She's also a ManipulativeBitch and she's pretty ruthless and tough when she's wronged or crossed.
* BetaBitch: For Vanessa, who is the ultimate AlphaBitch of the season. Vanessa is the strongest player of the season and it the biggest threat of the house but Shelli is her right hand woman willing to do all of Vanessa's bidding out of undying loyalty to her. If Vanessa is not the one telling the other alliance members (the other members of the Sixth Sense alliance) what to do in the game, it is often Shelli that is the one who is willing to call the shots. Shelli has proclaimed numerous times, both in the house and in the DR, that Vanessa is her closest ally in the game next to Clay and that she would always be willing to fight for Vanessa if she were in trouble. Although Shelli is a strategic and smart player on her own, Vanessa still pretty much has control over Shelli and what she wants to do as she always influences Shelli's game moves.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Although Shelli is a NiceGirl for the most part, do not think that she is to be messed with. Shelli is a very strong woman and when she needs to stand up for herself or those she is aligned with, she will do so without hesitation. Shelli can also be incredibly ruthless in the game and she views every move in the game as a strategic one. Although she felt bad for Audrey on a personal level, Shelli realized that Audrey was nothing more than a liability to her and her alliances' games because she was a loose canon. Shelli had little to no problem backdooring Audrey and having her evicted because of all of the drama and trouble that she was causing. Shelli did cry and feel bad for doing that to Audrey but in the end, she felt that the move she made against Audrey was a justified strategic game move. Case in point, Shelli is nice most of the time, but do not underestimate her as she can be very vengeful when she or those she cares about are betrayed or crossed.
* BornUnlucky: During Week 6, Shelli decides to make a deal with James during the Endurance [=HOH=] competition. She throws the competition to him belieiving that James will uphold the deal and keep her and Clay off the block. Unfortunately for her and Clay, James decides to not keep his deal and he decides that they are too dangerous to his game for him to not nominate them. He ends up blindsiding the both of them at the nomination ceremony by nominating the two of them together on the block. During the [=POV=] competition, Shelli and Clay both lose and they both miss their chance to save themselves from the block. On top of it, James ends up winning the [=POV=] when he takes the Veto from Shelli and gives her Knight Battle Punishment. For the punishment, Shelli had to wear a knight costume and had to do 2400 battles within the span of 24 hours. James decides to not use the POV and they remain on the block together, having to campaign against each other so that they can stay. Clay decides to sacrifice his game for Shelli and asks to be voted out. Clay is evicted while Shelli stays in the game. Unfortunately for them, Clay ends up going home, just barely missing Jury while Shelli ends up making Jury. This means that Clay and Shelli ended up separated for the rest of the summer. It doesn't get much better for Shelli in Week 7. Shelli is nominated alongside Steve by [=HOH=] Becky. Becky insists that Shelli is not her true target and that it is Vanessa. Although Steve ends up winning the [=POV=] and takes himself off the block with Vanessa being the replacement nominee, Shelli still ends up being the one evicted in the end. Shelli may have had it very easy since the beginning of the game because she and her alliance were running the house, but she definitely got a rough deal thrown to her in the last few weeks that she was in the house. Poor Shelli.
* CoDragons: Shelli is this along with Austin, Liz, Julia, Steve and Clay for Vanessa. All of them are TheDragon for Vanessa and all of them were working for her and doing all of her dirty work. Even though all of them are working for Vanessa, all of them have different strengths and weaknesses in the game. For example, Shelli is strong competitively, strategically and socially. Shelli is strong competitively because she can win competitions with ease, especially physical competitions. She is also strong socially, because everyone in the house loves Shelli on a personal level and gets along with her. And she is also strong strategically, because she is the smartest and most strategic player in the game next to Vanessa. Because Shelli is strong at all of these aspects, it makes her the most dangerous of Vanessa's minions or allies. As for Vanessa's other allies, they may have some strengths but they also have a few weaknesses and are stronger in some aspects than others. For example, Austin is strong strategically and competitively in the sense that he is very physical and can win competitions, but he is also a GeniusBruiser because he is very intelligent and strategic. Liz is strong competitively and sociallu, because Liz is competitive and wins competitions but she is also has a good social game because nobody actively dislikes her or targets her. Julia is strong socially as nobody really wanted to get rid of Julia because she was the nicer twin and she was not perceived as too much of a threat to anybody's game. Steve was strong competitively and strategically because he was capable of winning lots of competitions (particularly mental competitions) but he was also very smart and intelligent and always made strategic moves. Clay was strong socially and competitively because everyone liked him on a personal level and he has shown that he can be very physical because he is athletic and competitive (even though he did not win alot of competitions). Despite all of the others' strengths and skill sets that contributed to the well being of the alliance, Shelli was the most dangerous minion working for Vanessa.
* DemotedToDragon: Although Shelli is not really an outright villain and is instead, more of an AntiHero or at the darkest, an AntiVillain, Shelli is definitely the strongest player next to Vanessa. It appears that Shelli is the most forthright strongest player and is the biggest threat to the house but in hindsight, Shelli is merely working for an even bigger game threat in Vanessa, who is revealed to be TheManBehindTheMan. Vanessa appeared to not be the strongest player in the beginning because she was so under the radar and did not seem like she was getting all of the blood on her hands or that she was doing all of the dirty work. Shelli was the one who was getting her hands doing and doing everything that Vanessa wanted. Every single target that Vanessa wanted out, Shelli would end up obliging, even if Shelli was the one in power. So, although Shelli was the very obvious threat, Vanessa was the quiet threat (which makes Vanessa more dangerous and deadly for everyone's game).
* DevourTheDragon: Although Vanessa is not directly responsible for Shelli (and Clay's) demise in the game, she definitely had some influence as to why Shelli should go home over her. After Shelli was nominated alongside Clay during Week 6, Shelli had felt somewhat betrayed by Vanessa because she felt that Vanessa may have thrown her under the bus. Vanessa confronted Shelli about Shelli giving her the cold shoulder. Taking it as an insult that Shelli would be willing to shun Vanessa, Vanessa then proceeds to throw Shelli under the bus to all of the other houseguests by trying to say that Shelli was the one who was responsible for Jason going home (in which she was). This made the target on Shelli's back even bigger than before. After Clay was evicted, Vanessa ends up on the block next to Shelli. Although Vanessa does not directly throw Shelli to the wolves when she campaigns to the other houseguests to stay in the house, she manages to indirectly make arguments as to why Shelli is a bigger threat and why she is more dangerous. As a result, Shelli ends up being evicted by a unanimous vote in Week 7, even though the original target was Vanessa.
* DiscOneFinalBoss: Along with Clay, her eviction (which made her the first houseguest to be sent to the Jury House) confirmed the downfall of the Sixth Sense and equalized both sides of the house.
* TheDragon: For Vanessa in the first half of the game. Although Shelli was a power player and had much social and strategic pull over the other houseguests (namely her other alliance members), she was pretty much doing all of the dirty work for Vanessa. It could even be argued that Shelli was Vanessa's #1 ally in the game and the two had UndyingLoyalty to one another. They had even talked about going to the Final 2 together. In the grand scheme of things, Shelli may be a strong player who can win competitions and is strongly strategic but she is nothing more than a minion for Vanessa.
* EternallyPearlyWhiteTeeth: Just take a look at Shelli's teeth and see how sparkling white, straight and perfect they really are. On elf the first features that many fans often notice about Shelli's appearance is her smile and the fact that her teeth are so noticeable because of how white they are. Some fans even comment that Shelli's teeth are too large for her mouth and they speculate that her teeth may actually be fake or that they might be veneers or caps. Shelli's teeth are so perfect because of their shape and whiteness that either she loves her toothbrush, loves going to the dentist, stays away from sugar, or has veneers.
* GirlyGirl: Shelli describes herself as one, but one who is not afraid to get her hands dirty... which makes sense considering she works in interior design. She is obviously very girly because of her love for dresses, makeup, doing her hair and floral things. But just because she's feminine doesn't mean that she doesn't have a very edgy and tough side to her and she is definitely a GirlyBruiser.
* [[HoistByHisOwnPetard Hoist By Her Own Petard]]: Clay and Shelli convincing Vanessa to backdoor Jason instead of ejecting Austin not only exposed the Sixth Sense, but got BOTH of them nominated the next week when James, one of the three houseguests in the alliance opposing Sixth Sense, won [=HoH=] with no [=BoB=] twist, which lead to Clay's eviction, and then she had to face the block ''again'' the following week, with Vanessa, when her alliance couldn't regain the [=HoH=]. She didn't survive this time.
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: In the Week 6 HOH endurance competition, Shelli (knowing that winning a third HOH would put a bigger target on her and can't win the competition) makes a deal with James to let him win, [[ThePromise on the agreement]] that he not put her, Clay or John up for eviction. Since he agreed to the deal in front of the other houseguests, Shelli trusted that James would stay true to his word. The problem? He (like Jackie and Meg) wanted to avenge Jason's unexpected nomination and eviction that came about after the backdoor plan on Austin fell through, and decides to put Shelli and Clay up anyway, believing that they were responsible for the blindside. This leads to Clay leaving the House pre-jury and began the descent of Sixth Sense.
* ManipulativeBitch: Who would ever thought that she would be one of the major strategists in this season? Jason, upon his exit, referred to Shelli as "evil personified" when noting how she and Clay have been running the game. Live Feeders agree with this, seeing her try to deny any wrongdoings and lying most of the time.
* NiceGirl: While she is a friendly person for the most part, it's partly for this reason that one of Shelli's main objectives when she is HOH is (like many a BB contestant) to get as little blood on her hands as possible. The thought of even putting Audrey up for eviction even drove Shelli to tears at one point in Week 4, even though she quickly found out that Audrey was kinda manipulative and dramatic. In addition, she chose not to campaign against showmance Clay (who chose to do the same, but campaigned against ''himself'' instead) when the two were put up for eviction.
* OlderThanTheyLook: She's 33, but looks closer in age to her showmance Clay, who's ten years younger.
* PetTheDog: Shelli was one of the few houseguests who tried to keep Audrey in the game, feeling that she didn't get a fair shot... but Audrey's paranoia that Shelli would place her on the block and her resulting mistrust of Shelli, Clay and Vanessa for this reason in Week 4 (precipitating after Shelli told Jason that Audrey was the one who claimed that Shelli was his target), led Shelli to make the initially heartbreaking (or in the case of some of the other houseguests, the "what took so long") decision to put Audrey up as a replacement eviction nominee.
* ShipTease: With Clay. Veers towards WillTheyOrWontThey as time goes on, culminating in their first kiss in Week 6, days before Clay's eviction.
* SouthernBelle: Shelli hails from Georgia and she is a Southern girl.
* SpontaneousChoreography: Led an impromptu musical number with Audrey, Jason and Meg about being in the Big Brother house. Shelli was the only one who stayed in tune.
* WomanScorned: Inverted. While Shelli soon became her regular smiling, friendly self after she worked through the shock of Clay being evicted from the game, the After Dark Crew's growing worry that she would turn the tables back on them for their role in Clay's ouster laid the groundwork for her eviction in Week 7, with the entire house flipping on Shelli (and in the process, on [=HoH=] Becky, since Vanessa was her target). The proverb was invoked word for word[[note]]Well, almost... he said "Hell hath no [[Main/{{Malaproper}} ''furry'']] like a woman scorned"[[/note]] by James in lampshading on their worry about Shelli gunning for them.
