Shauna is a little girl living in a coastal New Jersey town along with her mother. She's the daughter of her mother and a Native American man, the latter of whom went missing sometime before Shawna was born. Being part Native American, she has the innate ability to locate Energon, an ability which the Predacons seek to exploit.

The leader of the Maximals, with the Beast Form of a silverback gorilla. Optimus is brave, intelligent, noble, and more than willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good. He plays the double role of mentor and surrogate father to not only Victoria, but all the Maximals. After the quantum surge hits at the start of Season Two, he gains a TransMetal Mode which is replaced at the end of Season Two with a new pseudo-TransMetal Two mode.

One of the youngest of the Maximals, his Beast Form is a cheetah. Initially, he was just as witty and sarcastic as he was before, but once Spittor entered the picture again, that all changed and he made a complete one-eighty into a brooding, angsty character who only wants to see Spittor dead. He learns the hard way that revenge is not all it's cracked up to be. He becomes a TransMetal at the start of Season Two and partway through Season Three he becomes a TransMetal Two. He starts off having a brother-sister relationship with Victoria, but it soon becomes something more than that.

* {{BFS}}: He has a sword in his first two forms. Once he becomes a TransMetal Two, he starts using his claws as his melee weapons.

The team's demolition expert, he's taken on the Beast Form of a rat -- just in case his name didn't clear that up. He's sarcastic, a bit pessimistic, and kind of a jerk, but when push comes to shove, he can always be counted on to help out, even though he'll probably complain the entire time. He becomes a TransMetal at the start of Season Two and maintains that form throughout the rest of the series.

* ActionBoy: He’s a soldier for the Union Army and isn’t afraid to take a few pot shots at a Predacon.

* TheWoobie: Her parents died after she was born, her brother went off to fight in the war and died at Antietam, she has to steal to survive, she's constantly bullied and berated by other kids her age, and she ends up targeted by Spittor because she thinks she has an Energon crystal. Needless to say, poor kid's gone through a lot for a nine year old.

* MagnificentBastard: He warns the Maximals that if they transform, he’ll kill Victoria. However, if they don’t fight back, he’ll still kill Victoria. [[XanatosGambit Either way, he wins.]]
* RevengeBeforeReason: He wants so badly to get back at Cheetor for taking Natalie from him – despite the fact that Natalie never cared for this guy – that he sought out the Fountain of Youth to obtain the Elixer of Life, and then spent the last one hundred years searching for Cheetor.

* VillainousSacrifice: Performs one at the end of Season One to save Victoria from Galvatron. His reason? He's tired of watching children die during this war.

* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: When he's temporarily reprogrammed into a Predacon.

* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: He knows that the Maximals, while not as powerful as him, can still lay the smackdown, as he discovers on more than one occasion. Hence he sends his minions out to do his dirty work for him.
** In Blackarachnia's debut episode, she and Rampage figure out that if Grimlock's going to kill and eat any Predacon, Megatron would rather it be them than him.

* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: He knows Blackarachnia as the Ark's access codes. He knows she won't give them up willingly. He knows she won't tell him where the Ark is. So he'll let her and Silverbolt lead him to the Ark, and then he'll threaten to kill Silverbolt if Blackarachnia doesn't comply.
