Instead of actively despising the people who stole his freedom, he easily forgives both Dario and Xavi (though the latter is debatable as he is more than willing to square up with him). Also, unlike Eren, he is a regular human possessing none of the Nine Titans. The big reveal for him and the other characters is that he is in fact NOT the 'Titan's son' as everyone thought.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: Sharle is quick to notice his stoic reaction of learning of the titan that killed his mother. When she asks him about how he’s not so broken up about it and encourages to let it all out, Kuklo simply states he has no memories of his own mother [[BornFromADeadWoman since she died when he was born]] and doesn’t know how he’s suppose to feel about coming to terms with his parents death since they both died before he even got a chance to know them and lived his whole life horrifically abused, never knowing love and compassion. Until Sharle came along and was the first person to have every treated him like a human being, but familial love was still a foreign concept for him.

* Foil: To Jean. While they look similar, have a similar personality and seek to join the Military Police for a cushy life, Xavi differs from Jean in his sheer lack of morals and genuine malice. Somewhat offset by the end of the series, though not to the extent of Jean's character developement.

* Foil: To Mikasa, serving as the woman of the main trio. The similarities end there though, and Sharle is essentially a complete opposite of Mikasa. While Mikasa is tall and black-haired, Sharle is short and blonde. While Mikasa is a pragmatic [[Everyman everywoman]] willing to join the Survey Corps to protect Eren, Sharle prefers to support from the background and organize the necessary prerequisites for the construction of the 3DM gear. Lastly, while Mikasa's love for Eren was largely [[AllLoveIsUnrequited unrequited]], Sharle and Kuklo are much less awkward around each other and marry at the end of the series.

* StarCrossedLovers: Is this with Kuklo, a slave her family purchased so that her brother could torture. After rescuing Sharle from falling off of a building, Kuklo and Sharle were about to admit their feelings to each other until Xavi breaks them apart and almost forces Sharle into an arranged marriage until she escapes and reunites with Kuklo. However she belives that Kuklo may not understand the love she feels for him is the same as her, as he sees Sharle as his only family. [[spoiler:Final chapter reveals he does feel the same way and is going marry her the following month.]]
* WillTheyOrWontThey: Admits she has feelings for Kuklo, but is afraid of taking it too far since he’s never experienced any sort of love since nearly living his entire life as the ‘Titan’s child’ but is happy to be with him. Final chapter reveals [[spoiler: TheyDo.]]

While he might look a bit like Armin though, their personalities couldn't be further apart, as Cardina is a DeadpanSnarker and always keeps in high spirits. * Foil: To Erwin Smith. He is the leader of the Survey Corps who takes interest in Kuklo and Cardina for their abilities (and out of sheer pity).
