* RewardedAsATraitorDeserves: Subverted. Pasiphae questions how she can trust someone who has betrayed every previous ruler, but Cilix points out that he risked his life to help her, and Pasiphae decides to keep him around.

* NiceGirl: She's perfectly willing to kill multiple barbarians if the need arises, but apart from that Atalanta comes across as quite friendly and well intentioned woman.

* DisappearedDad: Jason's father disappeared into the same vortex that he did, and it's implied he came to some bad end in the world of Atlantis. Jason still doesn't know the whole story. Its revealed in the season 1 finale his name is Aeson, and he is alive, but he lives in leaper's community (its implied he was formerly the king, but Pasiphae destroyed him), he meets Jason, but doesn't reveal his identity to him.

* TheWomanWearingTheQueenlyMask: As soon as [[spoiler:she becomes queen]], she has to deal with an invasion, her demoralized troops deserting, and the city nearly falling on top of [[spoiler:her father's death.]] It's clearly taken a toll on her.

* CarryABigStick: In the second to last episode of the first season he [[DualWield Dual Wields]] a club and his sword, as a reference to his mythological counterpart's WeaponOfChoice.

He's introduced being a jerkass and fighting the hero, is under the thumb of the BigBad who is his relative, is royalty, [[spoiler:but he never redeems himself or shows HiddenDepths, and is killed by the hero at the end of the season]].

* {{Expy}}: {{Subverted}} With his line in the trailer ''"You dare to defy your king?"'' many assumed he was just an expy of [[Series/{{Merlin}} Uther]], however his character arc has been quite different and is more a sympathetic character with a tragic fate at the hands of his wife ahead of him.

A powerful Witch, Circe is Pasiphae's sister, Pasiphae ruined her life and now she is consumed with revenge, and does not care who she hurt to get it.

* {{Revenge}}: Circe is consumed with vengeance against Pasiphae and forces Jason to try and fulfill her vengeance by threating to kill him and his friends

* TragicVillain: Circe once had a good life, a home and a man who love her. However her own sister ruined it, causing her to loose everything, meaning she now lives in isolation in a cave, and the effects have driven her into insanity, and left her obsessed with gaining vengeance upon her sister.

* WidowWitch: A sympathetic version, Circe was once happily married, however Pasiphae ruined her life and took her husband. It is partially because of this she seeks revenge.

* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: Her reason for following Pasiphae, she is the only one who has ever treated her kindly, while others have shunned her due to her status.

* GracefulLoser: [[spoiler: Takes loosing the coronation games to Jason, despite trying to murder him, quite well]]
