** PlayedForLaughs in Season 1, when he intimidates Khalil, who he knows is a guy Jennifer wants to sleep with.
** He is ''not'' happy at first that Anissa is running out as Thunder, and tries to rule her in because of her inexperience. While he does have a point, he sometimes overdoes it in Season 2, as his daughter ''has'' learned from her mistakes and he can't treat her like a child forever.
** In Season 2, he forbids Jennifer from going to school, as her powers start running out of her control. He and Lynn then decide, after no apparent improvement, that Jennifer should receive in-home tutoring. [[spoiler:Jennifer eventually elopes with Khalil, after being fed up with her parents' strict parenting and Jefferson is being called out by Anissa.]]

* HundredPercentAdorationRating: Jefferson is said to be extremely popular (in his civilian identity) among the people of Freeland for his work with kids and the school. He's even nicknamed "Black Jesus". As for Black Lightning, except among cops and criminals, the people of Freeland hold him in awe.

Grace wasn't used in the show often because of it, although it got around this in Anissa looking for her after she skipped town during Season 2. After the play was finished, Grace returned to the show proper.

Gambi, however, believes that his addiction wasn't to his powers at all but to ''her''.
