* TheAce: Played straight, as he's a naturally gifted scarer and athlete and is a NiceGuy who's well-liked by almost everyone. On the other hand, he has some HiddenDepths suggesting he's not that different from his son.
* {{Acrofatic}}: Flashbacks show him as a chubby bonsty, and even nowadays he's quite a bit broader and heavier than Ickis. Yet Slickis still has an easy time scaring humans, can stand up to a tank, and is great at monster sports (evidenced when he bowls a perfect game of Gorblats.) As his title implies, Simon is a self-declared monster hunter, determined to break the masquerade and prove once and for all that he isn't insane. Develops a very personal grudge against Ickis after the little monster thwarts his plans and keeps humiliating him. His surname and middle initial were given in his expired driver's license in the episode "Battle of the Century."

* BewareTheSillyOnes: He's hammy as can be and can be quite ditzy, but he's come up with his fair share of plans that put the monsters on defense. He's also independently wealthy, so he has the resources to construct various devices and implement his plans.
* CardCarryingVillain: In "Simon Strikes Back," he describes himself as "bad" and "worse" and eventually [[EvilIsHammy christens himself]] Simon the Terrible.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Despite constantly trying to capture the monsters, Simon means no particular harm to them. In the episode "Showdown" he even rescues Ickis from some more ruthless monster hunters who want to kill Ickis instead of capturing him alive.
* FinalBoss: He serves as this in the video game adaptation for the [[UsefulNotes/SuperNintendoEntertainmentSystem SNES]] and UsefulNotes/SegaGenesis. He launches nets at the monsters, grabs him with his claw if they get too close to him, and can only be damaged when they scare him. Hitting him with a projectile causes him to drop a Monster Manual, which allows the monsters to perform their scares.

As noted above in regards to Bigfoot, his desire to lecture everyone about how he was right all along cost him the chance to ''prove'' he was right.
* YouHaveToBelieveMe: He is constantly ranting about monsters being real and always gets the reaction you'd expect such a person to get. Naturally, this makes proving he's not insane even harder. One episode outright ended with him in a straitjacket and locked in a padded room, all as he loudly kept trying to insist monsters were real.
