* personally, I like a lot {{Cradle of filth}}, especially the album midian, yet, tell me, how many people can hate the song "death of love" or "her ghost in the fog"? sorry I can't post videos... I kind of fail trying to post something.

** As someone who enjoyed the brutal noise I would loby that ''Wait and Bleed'', ''Spit It Out'' and ''Left Behind'' be considerd Crazy Awesome.

If you listen to it from start to finish by the end you'll feel as if you've been taken to the stars and back. ** I normally don't like breakdowns, but the breakdown in the song "Cast Down the Heretic" is one of the best moments I have ever heard in a song.
** I would like to nominate the entire album of ''Those Whom the Gods Detest.'' In particular, the [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZ2pimhQkR0 title track,]] and the final track, ''Iskander D'hul Karnon.'' Beware: [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCwcJRADsTM this song]] contains volatile levels of win. Listen to that intro lead and tell me you don't feel like air guitaring.
* The melodic death metal band Deadlock would be already awesome enough to get an entry in this page, but their album "Wolves" brought us [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fcx9euRfBMw Praeludium II]], a short epic ''classical piece'' that manages to be as interesting as the metal content on the rest of the album, if not even ''more'' interesting, even for the alt-metal enthusiast I am.

** THEIR ENTIRE FREAKING DISCOGRAPHY!! Yes, even ''Risk'' is awesome! I could list all their awesome songs but I'd be here all day!

* Brocas Helm's album "Defenders of the Crown." The whole damn thing, particularly if it comes with [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6NZC7mgH6E&feature=related Drink The Blood Of The Priest]] Entire Album is on this guy's channel, fifteen songs in all. I recommend Cry of the Banshee, Juggernaut, Persian Gulf... hell, the whole damn thing.

* August Burns Red has a few towards the end of their most recent albums. Listen to Redemption or [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GALmUe-jPHo Meddler]] and tell me that's not epic. "We'll feed our flame before wasting time on anyone else's/the gallows were not supposed to look like this"

* Scar Symmetry's Ghost Prototype II - Deus Ex Machina is amazing. The combination of clean vocals and death growls, the semi-upbeat lyrics, and that fucking SOLO. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SV9o3FTpAf0 Listen]] and tell me that isn't awesome.

* {{The Agonist}}. Please help me to pick just one song, because most of them contain about three {{epic riff}}s each.

** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vJTg4Sd1Ks The Truth Beneath The Rose]] never fails to give me goosebumps.

* Soilwork's first four albums are a bit noisy and sound a little immature. Their ''next'' four albums, however, are some of the most epic metal albums around. Once you start with the first song on their 2003 album ''Figure Number Five'', I almost guarantee you won't want to stop until their very latest song finishes.

* Ill Nino. You thought [[NuMetal nu metal]] sucked? Listen to every single album these guys have put out, and I '''guarantee''' you will take that back.

* MachineHead definitely deserves a mention. Listen to their entire ''Burn My Eyes'' album and tell me that isn't awesome.

* RonnieJamesDio. Say what you will about the pseudo-fantasy videos and MindScrew lyrics, but [[Tropers/YamiVizzini this troper]] dares you to listen to [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAGzcPu826s "Holy Diver"]] and not get a rush from the sheer ''power''.

*** Finally, Sum. Everything from 1:00 on is perfect. Especially Jens' screams. Probably the most inhuman sounding screams this troper has ever heard.

** "Combustion" is a fucking ''insane'' song. Not to mention this troper's first Meshuggah song.

* Metsatöll. Take some traditional Estonian folk music, mix it with heavy drums and electric guitars and you get [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChYRwd-cPbM this]], [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Uo_RO56Tz0 this]] and [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nocw1cl4xEQ this]]. These guys single-handedly restored this troper's faith in Estonian music.

** This troper always uses [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0N_gR19sMx8 Lai Lai Hei]] to introduce this band to newcomers, as it most perfectly illustrates what they are capable of. 7 minutes of folk metal greatness.

* No Music/{{Rammstein}} yet? Was I the only one that thought "Ohne Dich" was a beautiful song?
** Nope. This troper wants to nominate "Feuer Frei" and "Ich Tu Dir Weh", too, though.

** Anybody heard their latest album, ''The Lost Children''? The collection of b-sides and rare tracks? Oh my ''god'', EVERY SONG ON THAT ALBUM IS PURE GOLD. But especially 'This Moment', 'Parasite', and '3'. It was said they called it 'The Lost Children' because they couldn't pick a favorite unreleased song to put on it. Well, this troper can DEFINITELY see why.
* Music/{{Megadeth}}. this troper loves their entire discography, but the Crowning Albums of Awesome for this troper are ''Peace Sells... But Who's Buyng?'', ''Rust in Peace'', ''Youthanasia'', and ''Endgame''.

* {{Summoning}}'s [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lDcp_vD6HI Land of the Dead]] has to be one of the most beautiful songs that this troper has ever heard.

* Post-metal, a relatively recent 'genre' has been created almost entirely in the service of the Crowning Musical Moment of Awesome. The slow crescendo and eventual climax is the whole point, leading to [[[OnceAnEpisode damn near every song]] being some measure of epic. The genre seems to exist to lay waste to what this troper previously understood as epic.

* And now for something completely different, yet awesome: Apocalyptica. How they didn't get to be mentioned sooner is beyond this troper. Some good pieces: [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8imVKXWd8U Inquisition Symphony]], [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odot5s70dvc Hyperventilation]], [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhKe-Z-NhBs Hall of the Mountain King]] and the best of all: their rendition of [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbTozgoj9OQ Nothing Else Matters]] takes the cake, '''HANDS DOWN'''.

* {{Sepultura}}. Pretty much all their songs are awesome in one way or another, but after ''Arise'', [[ThisIsSparta EVERY. SINGLE. SONG. IS. FUCKING. INCREDIBLE.]] Even after Max's departure from the group, they still managed to keep the band alive by introducing new twists and everything.

* No BreakingBenjamin? Honestly, bands crossing PostGrunge with AlternativeMetal usually suck, but they do it incredibly well. Not to mention pretty much all their songs have some sort of EpicRiff.

* MachineHead definitely deserves a mention. Listen to their entire ''Burn My Eyes'' album and tell me that isn't awesome.

* Atmospheric black metal band Drudkh has several. "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMZxZ5Nm95U Glare of Autumn]]" seems to be the fan favorite.

Being a longtime genre with loads of aggressiveness, Rock UpToEleven, and a helluvalot of subgenres, it's no surprise that HeavyMetal as a whole has its own page.

*** 'How Can I Live' in particular is a pretty epic song. Listen to the verses, and try not to get chills up your spine. Everything about that song is nearly perfect. There's a reason they recorded it in spanish and ''put the song on their'' ''''own album'''' '''twice'''.

** The entire ''Confession'' album is simply killer. It sounds like LinkinPark, {{Korn}}, {{Meshuggah}}, {{Slipknot}} (the new Slipknot sound), Soilwork, {{Sepultura}}, {{Soulfly}}, and BreakingBenjamin had sex.

* Ill Nino. Nobody mixes latin and metal like them. You thought [[NuMetal nu metal]] sucked? Listen to every single album these guys have put out, and I '''guarantee''' you will take that back.

** 'I can, smell the way you taste...'. Who knew metal could be seductive?

** 'Feed the Machine' is also pretty awesome.

* ''Red's'' Nothing and Everything.

* CannibalCorpse's entire ''Gore Obsessed'' album is pure awesome death metal.

** '''''ALL ABOARD!''''' Seriously, though, how can you forget Crazy Train? It's what everyone hears in their heads when they hear the name OzzyOsbourne.

* OzzyOsbourne. I Don't Wanna Stop, Mr. Crowley, Perry Mason.

* Diamond Head, especially Helpless and Am I Evil? When the four of the biggest metal bands ever come together to play your song, you have done well.

* {{Disturbed}}. EVERY. SINGLE. SONG. But especially: Stupify, Awaken, Just Stop, Stricken, Pain Redefined, Inside The Fire, Deceiver, Perfect Insanity, Divide.

* {{Korn}} certainly deserves a few mentions. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYQQzw4-NSg Twisted Transistor]] and [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5lAnqTpJgA Ever Be]] are both great songs, but [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYQQzw4-NSg Coming Undone]] is fucking ''incredible.''

** [[JudasPriest Living After Midnight]] [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W66-xlmfpTQ covered by Disturbed]]. Not only is it an excellent cover all-round, Mike Wengren pays tribute to Painkiller's drum opening for fun in the intro, Dan Donegan creates an original solo for the outro and David Draiman hits a massively high note near the end as well.
