Perhaps the best came about in 1997, when Temple University, located in UsefulNotes/{{Philadelphia}}, opened a new home for its men's basketball team: The Apollo of Temple. The name was apparently a [[UsefulNotes/ShoutOut shout-out]] to several ancient Greek Temples of Apollo, as well as Harlem's legendary Apollo Theater. Sadly, the name didn't last long; the venue was renamed Liacouras Center in 2000 after the university's retiring president.
