* Ripto himself can be considered a villainous example. He's far less physically imposing than Gnasty or the Sorceress, lacks the same personal vendetta with Spyro they instigated, and starts off pretty much a PlotIrreleventVillain that bungles into Avalar and cuts Spyro's vacation short. Yet by sheer persistence, personality, and an intense boss battle that forces ''everyone'' to assist Spyro in taking him on, he not only becomes TheDreaded in Avalar, but ends up Spyro's ArchEnemy throughout the series. His minions Crush and Gulp also help set the stakes, as they are the first direct boss fights Spyro faces after the GetBackHereBoss format of ''1''.

* In a meta sense, the copy protection for Year of the Dragon. Ripto's Rage was cracked and pirated in a week. The developers knew there was no way to prevent Year of the Dragon from having that happen to it, so they just worked to make that process take as long as possible. Their efforts kept the game from being cracked for two to three months, saving 30-50 percent of the game's sales and preventing the game from being leaked between the American and European releases.

* The cutscene ''The Second Warning''. Bianca, in an attempt to zap Spyro with her magic and hits Hunter instead, injuring him. An angry Spyro the chases her and burns her backside.

* ''Super Bonus Round'' from ''Year of the Dragon''. Full stop. The amount of gems you get in that level is staggering and satisfying.

*** In addition to that, Toys For Bob is working to get as many of the original voice actors as they possibly can back. So far, it's confirmed that Creator/GreggBerger is coming back to voice Hunter, Ripto, Crush, and Gulp, and Richard Tatum is returning to voice Agent 9.
** On the subject of Tom Kenny, he even adjusted the voice for ''Spyro 1's'' remaster. The voice sounds nearly indistinguishable from Creator/CarlosAlazraqui!

* The fight against Ripto in "Gateway to Glimmer / Ripto's Rage" (name may vary depending on your location), in which you both fight for MacGuffin powerups and proceed to fight it out on a platform, at which point he will create robitic versions of Gulp. Then after that Ripto will sink the platform you're fighting on and jump on a cyborg bird- you promptly get a powerup and give chase, dog-fighting all the way. To say nothing of the mini-games that follow.

** If we're listing that, ''Gnasty's Loot'' from Spyro the Dragon also has to be mentioned, for the same reasons as SBR.

* Each boss battle in Year of the Dragon is amazing, but both ones against the Sorceress are absolutely fantastic.
