** To put it into perspective, it covers the Game throughout with a few tweaks to keep the story going onto the ending where Red Triumphs over the Elite Four and becomes champion and then goes back to his original goal, catching all known Pokemon, including Legendary Pokemon. To Put it simply, This short OVA manages to do everything that the Main Anime Failed to do in over 15 years covering 5 Regions in Four Episodes.

* The battle against Brock is a CMOA in terms of teamwork for Red's team; Nidoran dealing out most of the damage, Spearow and Rattata distracting Onix to get it to waste some PP, Metapod slowing Onix down with String Shot and thus allowing Charmander to deliver the final blow to win the match.

** For many fans, this doubled as a real-life CMOA as well. After Game Freak had all of us believe that Mega Charizard (Y)'s reveal was the final nail in the coffin for Charizard gaining the Dragon type, Charizard X shows up out of nowhere, wielding the Dragon type and ready to kick ass both in Origins and in the games.

The Leagues are not comparable because of the setups. One has you go against dozen of trainers before making up to the championship, the other makes you go against four trainers and a champion. The Orange League is the only League remotely similar to the Origins League, and Ash won that League fair and square.

* Most of the battles qualify, really. Its very faithful to the games while showing it off in an anime style, along with remix version of the game's BGM. And its AWESOME.
* Red actually winning the Pokemon League, something that Ash was never able to do.
** Special mention also goes out to Green who manages to beat the Elite Four first before Red. That's a huge accomplishment compared to Garry who lost to a nameless nobody in the Pokemon League.

That\'s what makes this a CMOA. The first time you see a Pokemon Protagonist Via Anime actually winning a Pokemon League. Ash for 15 years has never won a Pokemon league. Also don\'t forget Pokemon Origins was only 4 episodes long where many of the supposed pokemon battkes against other League trainers were presumed to be fought offscreen.

And since you directly challenge the Elite Four instead of going to a Pokémon League filled with legion of Trainers, the two cannot be compared at all (with exception of Charizard vs Blastoise) and thus this is another unnecessary jab at the anime.

Unnecessary Jab at the anime since Charizard and Pikachu are two different Pokémon to compare. That and Charizard was in a Mega-form when fighting Mewtwo.

** The finishing blow in and of itself; which will easily cement for many Red's being better than Ash's Pikachu.
