This page is for the anime tropes.

Added DiffLines:

The anime is a highly severe case of CastFullOfPrettyBoys, with no female characters appearing on screen at all. The closest thing is WholesomeCrossdresser Nanami, who is [[GirlyGirl feminine to an extreme]], and seems HappilyMarried with Shinichirou.

Note that while the anime is light and fluffy - the game is much, ''much'' [[DarkerAndEdgier darker]], rated M, and may require a [[TearJerker tissue.]]

The visual novel series ''VisualNovel/{{Sukisho}}'' was adapted into both an anime and a light novel series. Since each adaptation is very different and contains different characters and plots, each adaptation received its own page.

This page is for the anime tropes.

The anime was released in 2005, produced by Creator/{{ZEXCS}}. It runs twelve episodes, with a bonus thirteen OVA episode. Creator/SoichiroHoshi voiced Sunao, and Creator/HikaruMidorikawa voice Sora. Creator/MediaBlasters licensed it for English distribution, but provided only subtitles with no English dub available.

!! ''Sukisho'' provides examples of:

* AbandonedHospital: The place in Sora's nightmares looks like this. And Sora and Sunao seem to wake up in one after being abducted.
* AbridgedSeries: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GiV7SNddUk&feature=feedf Found Here.]]
* AccidentalPervert: ''It was Yoru and Ran, really!''
* AdaptationPersonalityChange: Hiromu. In the anime, he's a wandering spirit and a [[CrazyJealousGuy Crazy Jealous]] BrattyHalfPint who was threatening to kill Sunao for getting in the way of him and Sora, though he turns out to be more a ShrinkingViolet when he shows up in school. In the game, his spirit temporarily inhabits Sunao's body and is much more understanding towards Sunao, at one point deciding to not use Sunao's body to have sex with Sora when he realizes how much it bothered Sunao. Furthermore, he later becomes a ShipperOnDeck for Sora and Sunao.
* AllGirlsWantBadBoys: Yoru uses this as an excuse for what seems like attempted rape.
* AntiVillain: [[spoiler:Nagase]] isn't really that bad.
* {{Bishounen}}: Sunao, and to some degree [[CampGay Matsuri]]. Basically, everyone.
* BreakTheCutie: [[spoiler:Sunao]].
* BuryYourGays: Surprisingly, completely averted. There's no {{Gayngst}} either. (Though certainly regular {{Angst}}.)
* ButtMonkey: Sora to some extent.
* CameraFiend: Matsuri.
* CherryBlossoms: The Valentine’s Day episode. And the intro...badly!
* {{Cliffhanger}}: Oh boy...
* CompressedAdaptation
* ConvenientlyAnOrphan: Sora and Sunao.
* ConvenientComa
* DisproportionateRetribution: [[spoiler:Sunao's]] revenge seems quite over the top, making plans of [[spoiler: outright murder, just because his [[ChildhoodFriends childhood friend]] let go of his hand in a life-or-death situation.]] However, in the games the revenge doesn't seem so drastic, because Sora instead [[spoiler: killed both of their parents.]]
* DraggedIntoDrag: Sunao in episode 2, according to Sora, the outfit he wore really suited him.
* TheDragon: Nagase.
* DynamicEntry: Gaku's EstablishingCharacterMoment has him dropping from the sky and engaging Sora in an [[GoodOldFisticuffs impromptu fist fight]].
* ExiledToTheCouch: Though technically he keeps the room, Sora feels pretty much like this when Sunao moves in with Gaku.
* HeIsNotMyBoyfriend: Shouted throughout the entire library.
* IdiotHero: Sora.
* FirstKiss: Sora almost has his with Hiromu in episode 5, but has his first kiss with Sunao in episode 10; this is also Sunao's first kiss.
* FountainOfYouth: The OVA centers around the cast's misadventures with a mysterious hot spring that can grant wishes. Sora makes the offhand remark that [[NiceJobBreakingItHero he wishes to be a child again]].
* GoofySuit: A very inherent part of working in the Nandemoya, though Sunao does get a PimpedOutDress for one of his jobs.
* LoveEpiphany: Sora realizes he loves Sunao after hearing their back-story in the lab [[spoiler: and the two have sex]] and Sunao seems to have one as well when he and Sora [[spoiler: have sex, but turns out it's quite the opposite]] but has his second and real one when Sora comes to rescue him.
* LuminescentBlush: Both Sora and Sunao blush pretty badly when there's an implication of romance between the two of them, but Sunao does it more often; the two most memorable times being in episode 4 when he thought Sora was going to say Sunao was his most greatest treasure and the second being in episode 7 when Sunao watches Sora take off his shirt.
** Sora gives the most intense blush in the OVA when the kids teased the two when they saw Sunao eat a grain of rice off of Sora's face.
* MasterOfTheMixedMessage: Sunao.
* MindRape: A big central plot theme in the later episodes.
* MomentKiller: The alarm clock.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Nanami, when Sora angrily leaves the apartment.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Sunao tries to save Sora (who’s terrified of fire) from Aizawa holding a lighter to his face. He then tackles him, which ends up setting ''the whole place'' on fire.
* OfficialCouple: Nanami and Shinichiro are a couple from the start of the anime, Sora and Sunao [[spoiler: have sex in episode 10]] and become official by the end of the series, and Kai and Gaku are seen official during the OVA.
* OffModel: The anime has this at times.
* TheReveal: About every episode that advances the plot has one.
* RevengeBeforeReason
* ScaryShinyGlasses
* SecondActBreakup
* {{Seme}}: Sora, Yoru, and Shinichiro. The OVA also gives Kai.
* {{Seppuku}}: Not actually, but heavily implied symbolically. [[spoiler: And in the games - actually.]]
* ShipperOnDeck: Matsuri ships Sora and Sunao.
* ShoutOut: [[Manga/DetectiveConan "There is only one truth!"]]
* SnowMeansLove: The Valentine’s Day episode.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] by Sunao and Gaku when they meet Sei, joking that Sei must be Sora's LongLostRelative. Strangely enough, this isn't repeated with Kano, who looks a lot like Gaku.
* TallDarkAndSnarky: Shinichirou.
* TenMinutesInTheCloset: Purposely done several times by Matsuri.
* TheMatchmaker: Matsuri.
* ThroughHisStomach: Hano tries to gain Kitamura's trust by making him lunchboxes.
* ATwinkleInTheSky: Happens in Episode 6 where Sora gets sent flying 3 times
* TwistEnding: The 10th episode.
* {{Uke}}: Sunao, Ran, and Nanami. The OVA also gives Gaku.
* UnbrokenVigil: At the end of the series, [[spoiler:when Shinichirou is rendered comatose after being stabbed by Sora, Nanami refuses to leave his side.]]
* UnholyMatrimony: Yoru and Ran at first.
* UnflinchingWalk: The showdown.
* {{UST}}
* [[WhatDidIDoLastNight What Did We Do Last Night?]]
* WholesomeCrossdresser: Nanami.
