* PrecisionFStrike: At the mid-point of ''Coexistance'', Joe states that everything is "screwed". Which isn't outside of the show's PG-13 level language, except that it's ''Joe'' saying it.

* MaleGaze: A few of Rosemon's animations during the battle with [[spoiler:Imperialdramon]] afford these shots, [[Anime/DigimonSavers as per usual]]. Mimi also gets a couple of camera gazes while she's dressed up (as a cheerleader) for her CosplayCafe event at school.

** Taichi and Hikari's mom calls Agumon "Agu-chan," just like Masaru's mom did in ''Anime/DigimonSavers''. She also calls Tailmon "Tail-chan."

* RetCanon: Originally, the VideoGame/DigimonWonderswanSeries decided that Jou's Gomamon's Mega was Plesiomon, but since the PSP Game, [[spoiler:Vikemon, who was originally Shakkoumon's Mega, has featured in the role.]]

Halfway through this series, '''Everything that happened in the Digital World un-happens in an instant.'' Only the Digidestined themselves remember. * SequelNonEntity: An odd example. While we're ''shown'' the main characters from Digimon 02 in this, they're reduced to brief cameos and [[spoiler:one of them was basically a RedHerring]]. Still, they do better than their family, who just vanish from existence (despite a minor plot point being that the ''02'' kids are missing, something you'd think would concern their loved ones).

** The dub of ''02'' said that the older kids, in their green school uniforms, were in high school instead of the Japanese version's middle school. ''Tri'' shows the older kids ''actually'' in high school and wearing light blue uniforms that are very clearly not the same as the green ones while the younger kids are wearing the green ones.

** Within the first five minutes alone, the film is already filled with an existential monologue and the ''02'' children being curb-stomped by Alphamon. The franchise is targeted at adults now.

* OneHundredAndEight: The air fare that Mimi quotes to Tai and Izzy is 1.08 million Yen.

A sequel film, ''Anime/DigimonAdventureLastEvolutionKizuna'', is planned for a release in 2020, and it will reunite the Chosen Children with their successors from ''Anime/DigimonAdventure02''.

* SecondYearProtagonist: All of the original eight chosen, except for Mimi and Koushirou, who are first years, and Joe, who's a third, are second years at their respective schools (Takeru and Hikari at middle school, the others at high school).

* ContrivedCoincidence: The fourth movie focuses on Sora's angst regarding her inability to connect with her Digimon, [[spoiler: who has a completely different personality than she originally did]].

Thus, there had yet to be precedent for a series of six 80-minute or more movies, the approximate equivalent of one and a half to two cours.

** Meiko's first appearance in the previews has her wearing ScaryShinyGlasses under a bridge holding her Digimon partner between her arms, which seems to be some kind of fox Digimon apparently called Meikuumon. The first film shows she's a transfer student who keeps appearing around the Digidestined. Her father is also a member of the same squad Himekawa and Nishijima work for.

* FreezeFrameBonus: A short way into ''Reunion'', Himekawa and Nishijima are on the phone discussing Digimon sightings, and Himekawa has a digital map on her computer screen. Apparently, the map is supposed to be tracking the locations of the Digidestined in real time, because the icons for Davis, Cody, and Ken all read "UNKNOWN" in bright red letters.

* AdaptationalVillainy: More adaptational antagonism: Alphamon. In the base lore of Digimon, the Digital Pets and TCG, Alphamon and Omegamon (Omnimon for the dub-watchers) are brothers in arms ([[MeaningfulName Name theme included]]), with the latter even being former’s most trusted ally; Omegamon is even the keeper of Alphamon’s Data whenever he is not available, effectively making him second-in-command. Taichi and Yamato’s Omegamon, however, has no relation with this Alphamon, and they share no brotherhood whatsoever.
