Edrobot: Somebody seriously needs to clean up the WMG's. They look like they were written by an eight year old.

  • Michael JJ: Agreed, but how so? I suggest we start by deleting any that have no explinations under their header.

Looney Toons:

The rumor that series creator Butch Hartman nurses a grudge against Wiki Words is as yet unverified.

Bwah?

Paul A: You haven't noticed how hard it is to wikilink The Fairly OddParents?

Morgan Wick: That... that.. I'm not sure what to make of that connection. Especially given the way we use the term "Wiki Words" around here.

Big T: So should I fix it, now that we can? The joke won't make much sense if I do, so it'll probably have to go.

Alice2: How did the show jump the shark when Timmy lost his buck teeth? He got new ones at the end. If anything about that episode marked the show jumping it, it was that Flanderized jerk Cosmo sobbing uncontrollably right beside his wife because a woman he thought was hot was getting married to someone else. </mynotsohumbleopinion> I've just decided to edit that bit out for now, but please tell me if I'm wrong.

Only in Love Struck! In more recent episodes (Oh Brother! and Dread & Breakfast come to mind) they seem all too willing to help Timmy avoid Tootie.
  • It wasn't just Love Struck, it happened in Kung Timmy, Birthday Wish, and even in parts of 'Oh Brother'.
  • The only reason they liked it in those episodes was that it solved whatever problem they had (using a loophole to defeat Francis, keeping Tootie from blabbing about them, and stopping Timmy from going to a foriegn country). Other than that, they seemed indifferent at best, they only got onto Timmy in "Birthday Wish" because he was legitimatly acting like a Jerkass.

LRS: Is "only reason" really a legitimate response to what I wrote? I was referring to that the troper had written about there only being 'one' episode where Cosmo and Wanda like when Tootie tries kissing Timmy? They enjoy and even encourage this in the episodes I listed (Lovestruck, Kung Timmy, Birthday Wish, the end of Oh Brother), as well as the episode 'Homewrecker' where their amusement towards Tootie's coyness almost gets them discovered. I found what that troper had written to be one sided and false so I responded to it and the logic I got in return was basically "only because". Going by that logic, Dread and Breakfast/Oh Brother are examples "only because" they are later season episodes and consistency has become a joke. We never saw Cosmo and Wanda's reaction to Timmy kissing Tootie in 'Dread and Breakfast', and in the episodes that we have the reaction is always positive, so I changed it back and believe it should remain as is. If the troper feels I'm wrong they should clarify why, here. I don't really want to spark an edit war over a laughably minor detail of the show.

  • In cases of love, yes it is. Liking someone's relationship because you think they go well together (which is what shipping is) and liking them because they advance your goals are two separate things. Tootie's crush was only a means to an end for them, and only for as long as the problem lasted. In Kung Timmy Wanda even looks disgusted when Tootie moves in to kiss Timmy. Heck, they became disgusted with how far Tootie took it in Love Struck! too. And Birthday Wish? They only got onto Timmy because he was legitimently acting like a Jerkass, something they've called him out on and encouraged him to fix when he was acting that way with his friends (Power Pals, Fairy Idol, A Wish Too Far!), so that's nothing special. I admit its been awhile since I saw the end of Oh Brother, so I'll hold my thought till I view it again. But Dread and Breakfast? We never see the reaction to the kiss, true, but both Cosmo and Wanda refer to Tootie as an enemy, and seem desprete to help Timmy avoid her, as they did in part one of Oh Brother. I find a swerve to liking the pairing at the end way too hard to swallow. The sad truth is, the Shipper on Deck thing is only when it's convienent for them, nothing more.

Michael JJ: Deleted a bit:

There was no aesop about Be Careful What You Wish For. It's something Timmy should learn, and it's occasionally lampshaded, but an aesop is never made from it.

Trixie's tomboy nature wasn't a vice, like the trope states. It only follows the "only one episode" guideline. It doesn't qualify.

  • (edit) Since it didn't fit in Ass Pull like I thought, I moved it back to here.

  • If you ask me, it's actually more of a aversion here - Trixie only shows interest in Timmy when he's made a wish that results in it.

Not true. Trixie kissed Timmy in A Wish Too Far! after he gave up everything, she liked Timmy's love letter in Information Stuper Highway, and Timmy got her attention with just a flower in Fairly Oddbaby. Plus, it's natter.

  • Jorgan Van Strangle has been nearly proven gay as well.

...What? Cite an episode for that.

Status Quo Is God: Finally changed in Wishology. Timmy is Genre Savvy, and all his friends, enemies, and family find out about his Godparents.

Three words: Laser-Guided Amnesia

Timmy's a Dogged Nice Guy, not a stalker.

I hope this is the correct place to put this on the discussion about FOP. About the Wallbanger of a Broken Aesop that "It's A Wishful Life" has (by the way, I'll never understand why they stopped airing Twistory and Hail to the Chief as "offensive, yet keep airing the piece of garbage that IAWL is, but that's for another post), I would think that the recent birth of baby Poof and also, the portrayal of Timmy as The Chosen One in Wishology pretty much negates what that episode says about people being better off without Timmy

Also, there was no mention of the Laser Guided Amnesia at the end, suggesting it was shoehorned in after the show got another season, since Status Quo Is God.

Seasons 6 and 7 were ordered around the same time as each other (which is why Anti-Poof came out so soon after Wishology). The staff knew there was more to come after Wishology when they were producing it. Besides, ending with everyone knowing about Timmy's fairies makes no sense, and neither does ending the whole Timmy/Trixie/Tootie love triangle thing simply by excluding one of the characters completely make any sense (nor is it fair to fans of Tootie). I think the above line is just speculation and wishful thinking, no pun intended. Someone should probably move it to WMG if anything, but I'm removing the whole thing for now. Differences between transcript drafts and the final product are nothing new. -Beckett

Michael JJ: Deleted this:

  • They also leave him with a sadistic babysitter than can frame Timmy for ANYTHING bad she does, even when they catch her in the act.
  • They also deliberately neglect him in order to run off together on various fun outings and vacations, typically lying that it's work-related.
    • Rather absurd when it turns out there really is a "State of the Beach Adress".
  • Note that they seem to ping-pong between general Jerk Asses who blame their misfortune on their son and simply incompetent idiots who seem to have no idea how to raise a child.
    • Though it is shown that they really do love him after he runs away to join a carnival and he comes back.
    • True, but remember that was one of the earlier episodes. In the earlier episodes, his parents were portrayed as simply busy and at times clueless. The newer episodes almost suggest that they couldn't care less about him.

It's all natter, and most of it is covered in other tropes (Depending on the Writer, Flanderization). A lot of people hate Timmy's parents, but if you want to cover it in detail, take it to those pages.

Mac Phisto keeps seeing various Tropes quoting Mr. Crocker as saying "If they live, then they're FAIRIES! If they die, I HAVE TENURE!" I've always heard it as "Ten Years" (i.e. how long he was likely to get in jail for manslaughter).
  • I presume it means that they can't fire him cos no matter what he does, he has tenure.

Wook Muff: I find that the third paragraph in the series description is incredibly biased and offensive. The show still has a lot of fans, but this treats it as a fact that "it sucks now and noone likes it, heres why"
