What about book series? War against the Chorr would seem to fit this, the opposite of the Dune Effect.

Shire Nomad: Hard to say. Dead Fic is a separate trope, and I'm not completely sure what the difference is other than "webcomic" versus "fanfic." Although the latter was always meant to be a single complete story (that now never will be); the former sometimes (but not always) is just a set of individual jokes, so it could be considered "complete" as it stands.

Ronfar: Does this trope apply if the author literally dies in the middle of writing a series?

I don't see why not. It has the same effect.

Medinoc: We call this an Author Existence Failure. The series may be referenced in both pages, I think.

Lord Seth: Does this trope apply only to webcomics, manga, and anime, or should it apply to literature as well? I mention because I can't think of any tropes to file a book series that was abandoned under. Guess I'll put my Canterbury Tales example under Other, but I would like confirmation...
