From YKTTW

Ununnilium: Augh. Okay, this trope has problems.

  • Pretty much every comic book character ever, due to rewrites, retcons and general obliviousness.
Please don't make examples in the form of "every X ever". They're not very helpful and they're generally not true. Most comic-book characters don't have one, though it's still more common there than in some other places. Changing.
  • A lot of traditional stories, mostly due to the Disney Effect, making this one of The Oldest Ones in the Book.
This is a character trope, not a story trope. If there are different versions of folk stories, that's a different trope. Taking out wholly.

Also, it needs to be somewhere other than just Comic Book Tropes, because it appears in more than just comics. Not sure where, tho; what do you think?

A Eshtaer: Isn't this a lot like Expansion Pack Past?

Ununnilium: That's "adds on", while this is "completely replaces". Related, but not the same.

Morgan Wick: In which case, we'll have to patrol both to ensure there aren't any examples that belong in the other.

Nezumi: Are literal Multiple Choice pasts from Video Games acceptable for this trope? I added the one from Daggerfall back when the trope first launched, only to have it removed because it's not an example of what the trope is actually about.
