Working Title: Conflict Ball: From YKTTW

  • Why didn't Itachi rat out the exiled Uchiha to clear his family's name? (Because then how would Sasuke have an angsty childhood?)
How would exposing his clan's conspiracy to overthrow the village clear his family's name?
  • Why did Orochimaru attack Sasuke when he could have kidnapped ANY other Uchiha for years after Itachi escaped him? (And deny Sasuke the angst?)
No, because they were all dead.

Ninjacrat:

  • Seen It A Million Times in family sitcoms, where the parents often don't want to let the kids have things. Often, there are the usual justifications, like, "Not until you're 16," and "That's a school night," but sometimes no real reason seem to be given.
  • Seen It a Million Times in J[=RPGs=] with a spunky teenage boy as the hero. Something will set him off, and just when one of the bad guys is ready to talk, the hero just wants to fight. Usually serves to just stretch out the plot of course.
content or GTFO.

Finn Mac Cool: Deleted the Bleach example, since fighting for the sake of fighting is pretty much Squad 11's philosophy.

Crowley: See Ninjacrat's reasoning above.

  • It's surprising, but probably for the best, that there aren't more comics examples here, as this trope is pretty much the only reason most superhero "plots" exist.
