* LegacyOfTheVoid pulls this on Artanis and players of StarcraftI, by apparently bringing back [[spoiler:Fenix]]. However, it quickly turns out it's not him but a robotic copy made from his memories prior to meeting the Terrans (thankfully, he and Raynor never meet). It gets to him as well, to the point where he chooses a MeaningfulRename to earn his own fame.
* TopTen: After Irma's partner [[spoiler:Girl One]] is killed, her creators send a physically identical replacement called [[spoiler:Girl 54]]. Irma is overjoyed when she thinks her friend is back, but the mistake is quickly corrected.
* Terminator3: John Connor is disheartened to learn the Terminator sent to help him does not remember any of the CharacterDevelopment the first one had, since they're entirely different robots.
* TheAuthority: One issue sees the Authority visit a GenderBender universe where they meet their opposite gender selves. Jack Hawksmoor, on being asked what it's like to see himself heavily pregnant, replies that he doesn't want to know who the father is.
