The ash cloud example from LotR is also EmpathicEnvironment; it's telling, and relevant, that when TheCavalry arrives, the clouds dissipate, and when Aragorn leads his army into Mordor, that place starts to lighten up too, even though his force is far too small to have any hope of victory. This means that the amount of cloud cover in an area is directly responsive to the morality of the immediate occupants.

The most obvious example I can think of, also from LotR, is this: When Gandalf recites the Ring couplet in BlackSpeech, in both book and film, it causes the vicinity to darken, even though the Council is in broad daylight.

* In both [[Film/{{Ghostbusters1984}} the original]] and [[Film/{{Ghostbusters2016}} remake]] of ''Franchise/{{Ghostbusters}}'', when the portal to the spirit world is opened in the climax, it takes the form of a massive [[SicklyGreenGlow green]] cloud that plunges New York into a night-like darkness. In  both films, night turns back to day once the evil has been defeated and the portal closed.
